On our first night in Great Yarmouth we wondered into the "Marine" looking for some food. The Pub was quiet, and all the Staff were genuinely friendly. My Wife has Gallstones and is waiting an Operation so has to be so careful what she eats, the Staff were able to adapt a Prawn Salad for her, which we appreciated. I'm a huge Pie guy, and I chose the Homemade Steak and Ale Pie, which was a bit special, and I can't say I've eaten many, if any better. It's truly delicious. Thanks to everyone there for a lovely meal. Definitely drop in and try the Homemade Steak and Ale Pie.

Definitely areas of improvement needed. The only plus’s was its location! right on the beech front and they are dog friendly which was great as we had our dog with us. regrettably, this was the best aspect of our visit. Upon entering we were met with an overwhelming stale dog smell which could easily be addressed with regular cleaning and air freshening, we also received an uninviting stare from the member of staff behind the bar, not a great first impression’s. Service was really slow, for our simple order of two ham, egg, and chips which took over 30 minutes to arrive. When it did, the chips were overcooked and tasted of old cooking oil, while the ham was clearly a low quality packet version which isn’t a problem it was predominantly fat with very little meat, i couldn’t eat, The only saving grace was the fried egg. Its location is fantastic, and with some major changes, it could truly shine.

Was quiet when we went for lunch had a dog with us. Ordered chips ribs and peas and a doggy dinner which is a long sausage and gravy and handmade steak pie chips and veg. 2 Diet cokes..In all honesty we wasted our money. The chips were like they had been cooked and left lying around the dogs sausage she smelt in and walked away I tried it by hand feeding she took one small bite and left it. The coleslaw tasted stale and the ribs were just warm . The steak pie was nice and hot but pastry not bad. I`m sorry won1t be back.

Chose to eat here today as its on the sea front and was convenient for where we were at the time. It was very dingy looking inside but there were other families there so we thought we would give it a shot. We ordered food and drinks which a little on the pricey side which we thought ok its a seaside pub so sucked it up. I went to the toilet and omg they are in serious need of a revamp and tidy up, gave me public toilet vibes and every toilet was rusted and stained. They were advertising cocktails all over every wall so I ordered one and it didn't come in a cocktail glass or even a plain glass but a Stella Artois glass (classy) quite a red flag! Lastly when the food came the chicken was so dry as it had been probably been batch cooked weeks ago and zapped in the microwave. I couldn't eat it, it was gross 🤢. This place is marketed as family friendly but it really isn't, don't bring your kids here if you want them to be fed good grub. Come for a drink but avoid the food!

A friendly pub. We stopped for some lunch and have no complaints about the food. The outside seating area suited us well and was a nice quiet escape from some of the more frantic pubs. The prices were reasonable, unlike the parking charges, which are not the fault of the pub.

My partner and I popped in for a spot of lunch on our Yarmouth adventures. After perusing the fayre she decided on the eggs, chips and beans whilst I was tempted by, the only vegan offering I could see, of a curry with the chips instead of rice. The staff were very nice and polite especially when I handed over the £25 (deep breath) for our luncheon (including two pints of Heineken). After a half hour wait our food was brought to our table and the portion sizes looked a tad on "Honey I've shrunk the dinner" proportions. My partner's food was just ok, and the sprinkling of chips (fries) were cheap and tasted of old oil. My curry was ok, microwaved, and again the chips (fries) were very cheap and definitely as if the oil had not been changed for a while. Being out of season there was not many people in so in don't know what the delay was. It looks as though the owners don't respond to comments on here so it is really matter of passing on our experience of a one time (there will not be another) in this establishment.

Staff were lovely and I feel bad for writing this and it isnt anything against them We went in and everything was OK, however then a loud lot were placed behind us, there was not distancing, if I leaned back even slightly I would be touching them! They were just loud, noisy and no care for the Gov guidelines (which staff brought up with one of them). We gave our details but the book was left on our table, this is possibly a data protection issue (all people's contact details), I dont know who had touched the book or pen previous so maybe be better for staff to to take details instead of customers so the book is not forgotten. Our son was not keen on his food, my partner's meat was not properly cooked either, my egg had all egg shells in..We all had upset stomachs for awhile after (all fine now). Normally we do say something however we were tired and hungry from the day and just put up with it, plus with the people behind we did not want to hang around longer. My plate was chipped aswell, a huge no no when I worked as a waitress so I was pretty shocked when I noticed (food had been covering it). Again staff were lovely, the food was a massive let down, the other diners to and the space in there. We are not local to the area but if we are in Great Yarmouth again we would not be returning.

The food did take a little while to arrive but it was well worth the wait. The suet pudding was outstanding, our friend had fish and chips and the fish was enormous. My husband had the ham and eggs but unfortunately the fried egg was not very nice but the rest of the meals were perfect. I recommend the onion rings.

We went here because the Vegetarian meals sounded nice...they tasted awful..the redpepper chilli was watery, the penang curry was actually the keralian curry...although there was hardly anything in the bowl, it just barely filled a quarter of it...and we were over charged for a baked potato that was supposed to be part of the meal by BAZZA, who was rude when the errors were pointed out to him. He tried to embarrass me by talking very loud, walking away and refused to discuss. This encounter further spoilt the meal. The food was poor value for money, the customer servjce was appalling. This pub just wants the money, charging a lot and delivering little. VEGANS/VEGATARIANS go elsewhere.

On entering the pub was pleased to see a glute free chalkboard so my husband ordered from the main menu and I ordered a gluten free crab salad. You pay at the bar before receiving the food. Sat down very hungry and with high expectations seeing all the lovely food coming out of the kitchen. When my crab salad arrived i was expecting new potatoes with it but there was a baguette laying on top of the salad. I asked the waitress if the bread was definately gluten free, she said she didn't know so i asked her politely to please check. She came back from the kitchen and said "No the bread is not gluten free but everything else is to you can just leave it" Could not belive my ears! I explained to her that the bread was touching the rest of the food so i would not be able to eat it and her reply was "we weren't told this was gluten free" and that was my probelm how exactly? The guy behind the bar (presumably the manager) asked what was wrong i told him they had put bread on lunch, he mumbled quite a lot and went off. The waitress came out with a newly dressed crab salad minus the bread. If we had not already paid we would have walked out. I waited for the manager to come and apologise but nothing............... SO IF YOU ARE GLUTEN FREE PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE as it could make you very ill.

I do love the Great Yarmouth seafront but one area that is lacking is food. So in an attempt to avoid chips, we thought a nice pub Sunday lunch would be a good idea. In fairness it was a good idea. In reality it was not a good experience.I was surprised how quiet the place was when we walked in. It was a lot like the wild west when a stranger walked in the tavern. I half expected tumbleweed to blow past. The menu looked ok but unfortunately it was the least enjoyable pub food we have had in a very long time. Chicken fillet for the roast was lukewarm and very hard. Everything else was only marginally better.Probably best to stick to seafront fish and chips.

We visited this weekend - with kids ..... states family pub - not sure what family pub has a pole dancing pole and a spin the wheel game ( grind the pole ect ) ..... the girl who served us needs some training on customer service - my daughter who’s 13 said hello to her she just looked at her and looked away. I ordered my cocktail she looked put out that she had to make it . She shouldn’t have bothered. Cocktails where vile worst I have ever had . The said girl needs to also tell her face she’s happy - they give you some sort of shot ..... we wasn’t told what it was she just came over dumped it on the table and walked off 5 mins later done the same thing with a little pot of savoury biscuits - didn’t say anything just shoved it down and walked off . The only time she got a smile on her face was when her shift was over ... the man who served us then was very nice and very friendly. I won’t be taking my children there Again I don’t know how they can say it’s a family pub

While waiting for our dinner the staff weren't very friendly and didn't even look like they wanted to be there. My partner had a lasagne that was disgusting ( Looked like dog meat). I had a burger and chips in which my burger was very cheaply made and was vile. Not long after our stomaches weren't good at all. They really need to sort this out as the pub itself is lovely and looks as though they do some really good entertainment.

Ok-ish place, visited here one Saturday evening at around 7.30pm and it was busy so much so that you are literally bumping into people. Getting some drinks in proved to be a rather arduous task as the bar was packed, an to the left of where i was standing was a group of blokes dressed up as women, i dont know what that was all about but each to their own. There was only 2 bar staff serving which was surprising for a Saturday and bearing in mind how busy it was, had there been more staff behind the bar, there maybe would not be a queue.I decided to eat here which proved to be a mistake as the food was basic and by the time it finally arrived, the karaoke had started which meant i also had people dancing around me whilst i was eating, i then realised that, that was probably why that was the only vacant table in there. The table service could be better as when your food is ready someone walks around shouting out your number, which is unusual especially as it is so busy in there and its so loud. Numbering the tables would be better, like most places have or place a wooden numbered spoon on each table.Overall, not the best place, i would of preferred to have gone elsewhere and to be honest, i wish i had.

The next time I went was the Sunday afternoon when there was a UB40 tribute playing outside. Again, very busy and far too long spent queuing, but the entertainment saved the day. Whoever that customer was who joined them for a bit of singing, you should find her and book her - she had an absolutely amazing voice and lifted the band from very good to a real experience. I have to admit I was a little confused by the identity of this pub, was it a family pub, a late night entertainment venue, a relaxing pub to kick back with a pint or a pub for regulars. To be fair it was all of those. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough to help and the constant flow of people showed how popular the venue is. I went with my family for some food whilst on a break for a couple of days. I have to admit that the food wasn't for me, however that should not be seen as a negative. It was just your typical pub style food which just isn't my thing, that is just personal preference though and my family thoroughly enjoyed what they ate. Cost wise for a family of 5 plus drinks, I really cannot complain either.

This is a nice little seaside pub, where you can get the best meals for your money, and be entertained at the same time. With live bands appearing on special nights,be prepared to expect a lively atmosphere! We tried getting in one night, only to find we could'nt,it was packed.!

Had the unpleasant experience of our hotel being near this place!! The music is absolutely rubbish esp the singer or bloke that thinks he is a singer and what makes it worse is it's so loud you can hear him right over the other side of the road on the beach to me he just sounded awful all day and night and cannot understand why the pub has not been pulled up on its music volume as it's way to loud and rubbish!!!!!

Thankfully had the good sense not to have food here but visited twice twice for drinks. If you want to get a feel of the local culture then this is the place to come-but it's not pretty. The clientele are rough-lots of smoker, lots of football shirts, tattoos, missing teeth, & women with very questionable fashion taste-hot neon pink seems to be the look right now. It's kinda like a throwback to the 70's. Oh, and there's awful karaoke which I mostly managed to avoid, I am fond of down to earth places but this venue, like most of Great Yarmouth , was a step too far. Quite the eye opener though. The Benidorm/Blackpool type crowd will love it though.

As the title says we visited purely by chance after Harry Ramsden's was so dire and were not accommodating of allergies within our group at all! The front "garden" was a little noisy with games etc, and the inside was a little packed but we saw a sign for a beer garden at the rear, so we went through, tiny little area, but that suited us as it meant the kids could play in sight without annoying anyone.Allergies were catered to easily with menu advice given, slight issue with getting the wrong drinks but it was rectified immediately, really good fish & chips (what we went to Ramsdens for originally) and the kids ate free so it was all very reasonable.Staff really lovely , would definitely return and recommend to others.

Met up with friends who had travelled from Yorkshire. Decided we would try here and after waiting a while, we had a great meal reasonably priced, very good sized portions and at an expected temperature (I do not iike my food being served luke warm) However, the music was extremely loud making it almost impossible to chat. We did ask for the music to be turned down - it was only around 8pm - and they did lower the volume for a short while before turning it up again as the entertainment began. After finishing our dinner, we moved outside as the weather allowed, where we sat and had a great evening - the staff were full of fun, happy and we even enjoyed a few "free shots" when he bell rang!!!

We decided to go here for something to eat as it says outside "friendly family pub" but it was awful, I sat on a chair that was wet and soaked my jeans through, they did nothing about it so somebody else probably sat on it, waited about 15 minutes at the bar to order food and drinks, food came and was all microwaved, order had stuff missing and by time it was resolved everything else was either eaten or cold, if you want decent food and service avoid this place like the plague!!!

Went in for a pint on Friday and thought we would bob in for dinner Saturday night. Think we timed it a bit wrong. Sat chilling out, ordered dinner. Then just as our food came out it turned into a nightclub. Very loud and dark. Hubby had the burger n chips. Think both cooked from frozen. I had jacket with beans and cheese. Well when I have a meal and a drink for £20 can't really moan!

This is our second visit here and the food was as good as last time we visited. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There's a good choice of food and we thought the portion sizes were generous and the food was good value. Our lunch was £25 for 3 of us including drinks. There's a beer garden at the front and plenty of seating inside too.

I visited the Marine Family Pub on the 14th of April we were swiftly found a table. It seems they have crammed as many tables as possible into the place this made it very difficult to get to and from my chair. Also our table was on the dance floor so I was also getting hit in the eye with disco lights why these were on during the day is beyond me. Once we'd all decided what we wanted which with 8 people wasn't easy we proceeded to the bar to order our food all was well until we asked for ONE jug of tap water to which the bar man said sorry no I can only do you THREE glasses. When asked why he said that if he gave us a jug of water then no one else in the pub will buy a drink? I found this completely unacceptable baring in mind we brought drinks as well and the total bill topped £70! The food on the other hand was very nice and the waitresses were very friendly. So if you want tap water with your meal go to one of the many other cafes or restaurants nearby.

Just been to visit this place whilst on a break away with my partner and 18 month old.....Mothers Day. They had some entertainment so we thought we would have some dinner there. I would highly recommend that you do not entertain the idea of eating here. I would also highly recommend that if you dare to complain about the food that you are served, you take a big old layer of thick skin with you.....because the owner is an absolute delight. Rude and obnoxious is being polite. To be challenged on mothers day by said owner because he does not agree with your interpretation of 'medium rare' so much so that he returns your half eaten dinner from the kitchen you sent it back to, is one thing... to then be told 'well I can't offer a refund because there is nothing wrong with it' to be honest, takes the biscuit. There was something wrong with it, in that it wasn't what I ordered.the rest of the staff were very accommodating, polite and quite sympathetic, but the owner was a word that I doubt would be allowed to be placed on this website. 'the food must be satisfactory in quality, and fit for purpose, and served with reasonable care and skill' as stated under the misrepresentation act... our food was clearly none of these, and we were clearly so rude in pointing this out.disappointing is an understatement.

Very disappointed! There were 4 of us and the food was not nice. Sausage and mash….mash had lumps and the sausages looked undercooked as were white! Steak & Ale pie….burnt and the inside was dried out like it had been reheated more than once. Beef roast dinner was the worst we had ever had, roast potatoes were burnt! Will never go back there as the customer service was non existent! Not once did someone come to the table to ask if everything was as ok.

It’s always wonderful to visit Fritton Lake, laid back luxury with such beautiful grounds, great food and lovely atmosphere. Every member of staff is so friendly and helpful, the Club House beautifully decorated. It’s a rare treat to find somewhere as lovely as this, and it’s dog friendly!

Such a shame as it feels you are still operating a limited menu like we are still in lock down (main course all with chips) ) A locals opinion, it feels both the Lion and White Horse are targeting only transient clientele through holiday season and why maybe, they are quieter out of season where public houses with good old ‘English food’ for the local community are a busier. Both great pubs, staff lovely, but the food really needs some attention and love and updating!
