We had a terrible experience at Marcos (Pool, Karaoke, and Pizzas). While we were playing at a pool table, a security guard came and told us to stop because the table was booked for 8:30, even though it was already 9:00 and no one had shown up. There was no flexibility, and the way they handled the situation made us feel like we were being discriminated against because we are Asian. It was very disappointing and unacceptable. We will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a fair and enjoyable night out.

Karaoke No atmosphere and system tricky to work or didn't work

Amazing location, always a great night out with friends be it a large gathering or a small group. Friendly staff with amazing pool tables.

I rented the Karaoke room, so most of the review is for that room. The first impression was that the room had not been cleaned since its last use. There were dirty glasses and pitchers everywhere. The karaoke system runs on a 1st generation iPad, which kept crashing (6 times in 3 hours. The kid behind the bar was very nice and apologetic, but management obviously didn't give him the resources needed to take care of the situation. The pizza was really terrible. The kind you would expect from a place for children. They had also ran out of burgers and hotdogs. The pool area was nice and clean, and they have about 16 tables. No complaints there.

Always a good time at Marcos. Good value for money, good food and lovely staff. Always pop in when in edinburgh

The staff here have bad attitudes towards customers, they charge too much for food, I will never come back here.

Great environment! Staff are very friendly. Great drinks and had a super time playing pool with my friends.

Great place, can’t fault anything. We came on a busy night, but they have a good waiting system in place. Pizza was very nice, tasted fresh. Vast selection of drinks. Nice atmosphere and the lads working there are polite. Pricing is fair.

Friday night closed early. Not a problem however just update your opening times. Takes 2mins. No excuse. Wasted journey.

Really good place for pool right up till they increased the price and added £8 to the price it's a £10 an hour then the £8s added at the end. Now normally I'd have zero issues with this but there table maintenance has went down hill recently and more than one table has curves in them, even when I book online and requested a specific table we never got what we wanted even when it's quiet you get put right beside 2/3 table that are on rather than an empty areas and as someone who played weekly I'm very disappointed with the extra £8 especially if they ain't gonna fix anything so now we looking at alternative places to play pool now. Drinks are very over priced foods ok if you hungry over all I give the place 4 stars it is a good starter nyt out before your main nyt out starts just bring your own hip flask and save money 😂

Could do with better lighting and decor in the pool room. Felt a bit oppressive.

Only been here on Mondays so far, but no complaints. Pizzas are delicious and reasonably priced, beer tastes like.... beer :) Karaoke was great, was a bit cold in the room but the set up is good. Will be back for more...

Nice welcome for rugby supporters

Had a great time, can't beat a few games of pool! Can't rate the food as we didn't have any. Will be back in the future and will try the food next time.

I went to Marcos with my friend on a ladies Tuesday. Quite cheap pool game for two and I like that they charge per hour not per game. Really nice lighting and atmosphere. We had a fun time playing pool. About service, there is a QR code to order drinks and food at the pool tables however we were surprised by the delivery fee that we were charged for what? Bringing drinks from upstairs?.. We could get the drinks ourselves and get back in 5 mins but we waited 30 mins for them to come to us and got charged a delivery fee. - on Tuesday the 16th around 6 pm. It was our first time there and we had no guidance whatsoever about how to order food and drinks or even where the pool tables are. There was so little pizza options as well to my dissappointment after all the things I have heard about this place. We just got a classic margherita style and it was alright. We really enjoyed the games and the drumstick cocktail but service definitely could have been much better.

Good prices, good pizzas as well. Perfect to chill and have a very nice game, for few pounds you can put your music as well.

Seems to be feast or famine with this place as far as the service/food goes, or maybe people are just more accepting of what they get for their money? We were met by a lad at the front desk who was absolutely miserable. Booked our table and never had any details explained about when we had to leave and then ordered pints that all tasted awful. Tasted like the lines hadn't been cleaned for any pint we tried so we eventually switched to bottles. We ordered two pizzas and were all fairly hungry but the quality left us politely passing on the last slice as nobody really wanted to eat it for anything other than just not to waste money. As for the actual pool, can't complain. Cues are a bit cheap feeling and as others have said the lighting is a bit all over the place but for the most part, no complaints. The real sting came when we went back upstairs to leave and were hit with double the price we had already paid because we ran over a time that we were unaware even existed. Ended up paying about £55 for the pool alone for about 3 hours which is a joke considering it was only one table and there was no attempt to let us know our time was up, presumably so they could milk another £25 off us. Just feels a bit shady to not explain the service upfront or give us a time to leave and really soured what was already a bit of a disappointing experience. If you are just there to play a few games of pool and drink a couple of (bottled) drinks then it seems like a decent place but I'd keep an eye on the clock and steer clear of the food as it almost feels designed to rip you off. Don't imagine I'll be back. Edit: this was on Sunday and we had not arranged a booking. Thought my name would show up on the payments as they were happy to take that twice.

If you like your Pool, this place is Ok. Catering for the Student and Lad club. Fresh food and drinks. For young reprobates/students it's perfect to spend your or the governments money. American style Pool tables and sadly the Gas Cooker tables are gone.

Enjoyed the evening with friends, pizzas and beer 🍻... Had lot of fun in the pool game as I'm a starter for pool and other friends were playing like pro.

Great place to play pool and price is decent. Food is not the best. Staff are friendly and they do show sport.

Very nice and organised ! Give a document or bank card as a " deposit" and staff give you a table . Charges are hourly and once you finish you go back to the till, take your "deposit " back and pay! Easy as that! Very chilled atmosphere :)

Been here a few times now. Good pool hall and efficient booking system online. Good choice of drinks and the food is good too. Just bar snacks like: pizzas, chips, nachos, hotdogs etc but nice.

Hi, Just some quick feedback regarding the staff member who served me and my friend tonight when we played a few games of pool. To say the way we were spoken to was rude would be an understatement. Just wanted to organise getting a table. Was asked for a card to take a deposit. Staff member then walks off and seems to put on a shelf? Also then smugly makes a remark saying "oh you do you think we would have a business if we scammed your card?" I understand the need to take a deposit, however there was no explanation to the fact he was just going to take the card and keep a hold of it. Where it was going. I could on and on. Please feedback as this has really really put us off coming back. We normally play once a month and make an effort travelling through. The staff member was a young male , short hair. I hope this feedback helps. As we didn't react at the time however it has left us with a massively sour taste. Thanks Stewart ( Table 10) about 6.30pm tonight.

Excellent place - I love it. The Staropramen is very very good.

Pizza was over cooked, meat "feast" wasn't very meaty. Others had the salami one which looked better value and tastier. Kept getting table number wrong.

Staff are fantastic, incredibly helpful and they remember your order if you go regularly 😁

Loads of tables, cloths are in a bit of a state though. Cues with wooden tips and no way to order drinks downstairs. Needs a bit of a refurb and it would be a 5/5. Shows sport and good beer selection which makes up for it a bit.

I have done karaoke here a few times and it's really fantastic. The karaoke room makes a great environment for a fun night out with friends, and the fact that it's private means people are comfortable opening up and having a laugh. The staff are absolutely lovely, so helpful and nice. The manager came out to show us the room and explain how the music system worked, and there was always someone downstairs to help with technical issues or questions. The bar is nice as well for a drink before or after. Would highly recommend for birthdays or just a great night out.

Really good pool hall, really enjoy the Sunday deal. Really upset with service today however. Me and my girlfriend showed up at 6:55 for our booking from 7-8pm. From our understanding, it was pay by the hour. When we came up at 8:02 pm we were asked for an extra charge for being 7 minutes over time. Why? We had never been charged for being over time before, and were never told that it was charged by the minute. If it was that time specific why was this never told to me beforehand? If I started 5 minutes early, why not say I have the table until 7:55? It just seems like a really slimy business practice and I'm really not happy with it. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful as well. Such a shame because our first two times here were really enjoyable and I'll definitely be back to play again. I would just like to warn everyone to be careful so you're not charged extra.

Great pool hall. Busy bar upstairs but service was friendly and efficient. Stayed for a couple of hours and the tv's were showing the rugby, so extra bonus! Didn't try the food but pizzas looked great. Definitely will be back!

Can't recommended enough excellent customer service. Went above and beyond to accommodate rented the Karaoke room everything was fab!!Credit where its due.

Owner or manager was rude and had a high sense of himself, acted like he was better than everyone ruined the experience for myself

Nice to have posibility to order pizzas. Even vegeterian option. And have possibility of ordering tea or coffe. That says only good. Of course pool tables. They have 18. So u can order for quite big party - all tables - if u want.

I couldn't tell you why, but I was expecting this place to not have the best pints or not have a great selection of spirits. I was very pleasantly surprised! The pour of Staropramen was nothing short of beauty. I don't drink it myself but I should have taken a picture. Genuine perfection. And the gin selection was fantastic too. The game of pool was great fun, plenty of space and not too loud that you can't have a conversation. Not too expensive too, considering the experience you get from it all. I will definitely become more regular.

Great space to play American pool. The tables aren't cleaned frequently and cloth on most tables is damaged. It's a real shame as the place by itself is great for training. Cues aren't cleaned and sharpened therefore suggest to take your own. That's the technical side. Otherwise it's spacious with separate drinking area. I like the staff (they are all friendly, chaty and funny).

Food undercooked. Garlic bread still frozen. Hair in pizza. Depressed staff you should have seen the lack of care in presenting a milkshake. Got order wrong. Golf was good at least but skip food at the bar.

Marco's is a great place to visit and play pool when in Edinburgh! We will definitely return and try the pizza the next time as well!

Good fun night out with colleagues. The food selection is limited and the waiting time for food is long. However, the staffs are super friendly and helpful!

Tables are good considering how much they are used and all the alcohol and snacks about it (think they were re-clothed 6-12 months ago. BUT service and staff attitude is poor. Told at 10.50pm that its too late to play a few games of pool because they close at 12am? Had to argue and beg after travelling across edinburgh picking up mates on the way not to turn us away (we did get a table in the end for 50 mins but could have done without the drama). More recently we have gone a few times at 9pm to be told we only have 1 hour because its quiet and theyve decided to close early at 10pm on the night... we went downstairs and half the tables were being used (which is the busiest ive seen midweek nights!. Ive also phoned to book a table and been told the same thing on other occasions that due to short staffing or lack of business theyre shutting at 10 when online tells us 12am. Clearly just reluctant to have the customers as staff half the time and fair enough if they close an hour early if its a slow night but 2 hours? (Means you have to start playing over 3 hours before close). At least communicate it to customers online or something so we can plan around it. Not a great way to run a business

A fun works night out. Had a game of Pool first then Karaoke. A good laugh and pizza's were brilliant.

You don't see the pool tables, but when you are guided to the cellar, you see a lot of nice pooltables. It's self service. Pricing is fair. Je ziet de Pooltafels niet, maar als je naar een verdieping lager wordt geleid kan je helemaal los. Zelfbediening. Eerlijke prijs.

Need to book a table. Great pizza & pool deal for £20 ! Pizza a bit cold, but everything else was nice.

Went in on 10/04/22 for the lfc city game, we were downstairs in the pool area, the game was showing with no commentary. 3 of us asked at multiple times for the commentary to be turned on and we all got the same response of 'we'll try'. Pathetic, either you can turn it on or not.

Overall the experience is not that bad for a typical group of people to play around and have fun, however not the best place for people that want to train, play at a higher level. I consider myself as someone who plays the game really well. I did not have my cues with me, which was very unfortunate. I will start with the cues. Caps? Really? You cant afford a 15 pound normal cue and just buy the cheapest one possible? Look at your competitors and see what they use. The lighting? I couldnt see the tip of the cue and whether its chalked up. The lighting on the tables is irregular and the whole table is not lit. The room is too hot, a colder climate is better for people and the rubber on the tables (19-21 degrees, not 24). Otherwise everything looks neat and tidy. I give one star so that someone can notice this and improve the place. There are more things, but that costs money.

It's alright but not like the old Marcos. If you're young, this will suit you more. If you're older, hit up the ball room in Morningside.

Happy friendly and helpful staff So accommodating when I brought my 13yr old nephew along to play pool on a Thursday evening. Happy for us to stay for a few games as long as we stuck to the licence. Well done!! As usual, we'll be back!

Pure loved it the young man that organised the table when it was incredibly busy and supply could not keep up with demand managed to manage the unmanageable. A brilliant young man and I wish him and his family nothing but love and respect! X

Good place. Tables are in good condition and there's 19 of them. The prices are low and there are deals that make them even lower. The tables are close enough to one another that you may sometimes have to wait for the people on the next table to take their shot before tou can but we didn't have much issues with that. Will definitely return.
