Good quality haddock and chips can always be found in Marco's. The staff are always friendly.

Good ice creams but a bit pricey.

Chips were nice and hot hubby's fish was great my scmpie was a bit on the dark side but tasted ok

Food is excellent, staff are very friendly and attention to detail is fantastic.

Hi, been a loyal supporter and customer for years. But sadly won’t be back. Chips like wooden splinters, fish thin as paper over cooked. Over priced and dated so I also say not been feeling great after this poooooor meal. So stay clear

I enjoy coming here for a bite to eat, staff are so friendly and Wendy is a great cook, just watch out for the gulls if you sit on one of seats outside.

This chipshop has went downhill so much it is terrible, I have been going there for years and was fantastic, huge disappointment yesterday, the fish was definitely reheated it couldn't have been cooked the short time I was in the shop, another first was getting an already small fish cut in half before serving...I won't be back.

Fish and chips were great and very reasonably priced.

Worse chippy I’ve had for ages, chips were cold stale and greasy, with eyes of the potatoes still on the brown looking chips. Also the battered sausages are very small, like cocktail sausages. What an absolute rip off and really poor preparation and cooking skills from the fryers.

Food is fantastic, although it is really busy, the food is prepared quickly and well presented. My favourite is the half pounder burger with everything, nowhere does it better! Chips are great, mum loves the roast chicken and the white pudding always goes down well.

I ordered my meal on line and it told me to pick it up in 10 mins , I went to the shop and while there 3 different people came in and ordered suppers .There wasn't anything cooked so there's had to be cooked there's were served before mines had arrived when I question this I was told one of my meals was forgotten about which was because the 3 servers were too busy yapping which I gladly told them ,when I got home the chips were Luke warm at best , won't be going back there

This has come a long way again, used to be my favourite chippy they hit a bit of a flop at one point but buck up to top tier fish and chips, ice cream is expensive but you get what you pay for.

Daughter bought several fish and chips for a birthday tea. Their fish is normally excellent, however tonight it was so dry and overcooked, none of us could finish it. Won't be returning there again. Total waste of money. Back to the Monifeith chip shop for us in the future.

If you want to rip me off because you think I'm English... I'm a local... And there are far more cheerful shops not more than 100mts down the road.. I won't be hurrying back...

Fish n chips take away di fronte al porto, ottima e fresca la materia prima e buonissima la frittura; la porzione prevede un filetto e mezzo di merluzzo e patatine abbondanti. Ha salvato la nostra cena in orari (tra le 20 e le 21) sicuramente poco consoni per gli abitanti del luogo. Consigliato mangiarlo caldo sulle panchine di fronte al porto!!

Weird I know, but I'm not usually a fan of chips from chip shops. It's very rare I enjoy them. But Marco's chips were absolutely perfect! I really enjoyed them :) it's weren't a fluke either because my nephew told me had some before and they were good... so when we were there, we got fish and chips. I would highly recommend

Come to Arbroath 2 or 3 times a year and always used the closest chip shop, we checked Google reviews and gave Marcos a try. Wow, superb fish and chips, fritters were the best. I would say this was the best fish supper I have had, I have had a lot! Kids loved the sausage and chicken, definitely our favourite chippy.

Excellent fish and chip shop in nice harbour location. We were seeking a fish and chip supper on holiday and weren't disappointed. Great food and hard working staff in a busy location. Always a good sign when a takeaway is busy... My daughter thought the ice cream shop next door was equally great!

The two assistants spent time handling their phones, one kept scratching her face, pushing glasses up her nose, hands in hair and wiping hands on the leg and seat of her trousers instead of her apron. Both spent time handling bags of rubbish from bins and then served food using a scoop and their hands. When it was my turn to be served I made the point, quietly about what they had been doing. The assistant serving me immediately said “I’ll wash my hands” (clearly irritated) and she did so. She then came back and served my order. Usually in a fish supper, especially if the fish aren’t large you get one and a half fillets. The two lads before me got this amount but for me? I was given only one fillet in each of my four orders. Seemed to me to be a deliberate payback as the lads cooking the fish had put through six fish for four servings of one and a half fish on each. Did I say anything about this? No the shop now had six more people in it and I don’t actually like making a fuss. This is the second time I’ve been to this shop and the second time I’ve seen what I think is disgusting practice - who’ have thought we’ve just been through covid where there was emphasis on hand washing and hygiene? The last time I quietly handed over a note to point out the poor hygiene. Nothing has improved.

Had the best crispy chips I have ever had and I have sampled a few in my time!!, We sat on the harbour an enjoyed a Marcos ice cream to follow.

Went to Marco's for real fish and chips (Haddock) great portions, super fresh, fair price. there is also a selection of soft drinks to compliment the meal. you can also sit outside beside the harbour to enjoy the meal.

Stopped off for a bit of haddock when was walking around Arbroath harbour, being an ex fishmonger was very disappointed with the size of fish lucky if it was a 4oz haddock and charged £5.60 it, to be fair it tasted nice and batter was decent. But just so small.

I went to Marco’s Tuesday evening 15th August 2023, this was the second time to visit. The food I bought was single fish, 3 potato fritters and a white pudding supper. The fish was Flat and looked like it was reheated, more thin batter than fish, the white pudding was also flat and greasy. When I got home and really saw what I bought was taken aback it all looked old, the chips were dried out and looked like it was reheated and in old oil. I could go on but I will not go to that chip shop again…I have since found out the fish was frozen not fresh as you would expect being right on the harbour. Lost a customer I’m afraid..

Not gonna lie, chippies aren’t really my cup of tea but when I heard Marcos did pizzas as well my interest was certainly piqued! Was really impressed. Great base, lovely tomato sauce and nice toppings. 5 out of 5 would recommend. Would go back

Had a white pudding supper from here, the white pudding didn't look like a white pudding or taste like one, far to much oil , the chips were not that great you expect chippy chips these were not a lot of small hard chips, not for me

Marco's has a lot going for it: probably the best batter I've had on fish light but still crispy keeping the fish moist, generous portions for the fish, a frying to order policy so the fish gets to you in the best condition, and very good chips. The prices are very competitive compared to other chippies in other cities. The location, on a sunny day is pretty good as well.

Got fish and chips it was bad fish was so small and chips cold in all my years the worst in my 55 years and and I am a chef / fish monger. So please go next door. Enjoy. Thanks my 55

I visit this venue frequently. Recently the chips are not worth what's charged. It cost £8.90 for a fish supper. You'd be just as well to buy the fish and microwave some chips from Tesco.

Food always hot and fresh. Always come here with the family as its the best chipper local to us.

What can I say, went here with the missus for a decent Arbroath chipper tea. It didn't disappoint. Big portions, cooked well, good value. Nothing like sitting on the harbour front, watching the boats with a good chipper. I'd recommend it. The ice cream place next door is good too.

Forced to change my earlier review because of the pathetic size of the fish. Bloody daylight robbery. Not on at all. Marcos you have lost customers. Ripping people off with those half fish supper. Awful.

We ordered over £70 worth of food, fish, scampi, white puddings , sausage, burger, and pizza, all suppers. I have never ever seen such stingy portions, my chips were hiding under the fish and believe me that would be difficult as the fish was one side of a haddock, and the slimest, thinest haddock I Have ever seen, fish fingers are bigger. We were all still hungry after eating the smallest portions know to man. That is one chipper we will never use again, not that long ago you used to get a fish and a half, sometimes 2 fish, but half a fish and a dozen or so chips, shocking

First time we went we thought this place was amazing. Just ordered in for our second visit and the portion sizes were tiny. The fish was very thin that it was really dry, chips were below average also. Really disappointed, won't be returning.

Great place to park up and eat your food over the harbour. Fish and chips were very delicious, crispy and great potion size. They do a great cuppa tea and coffee varieties. Right next door is an ice-cream parlor.

Asked my sister in law who lives in Monifieth where we should go for fish and chips after arriving from Australia and Marcos was the response. Excellent fish supper with mushy peas and a mandatory can of iron bru sat on the harbour wall. Absolutely delicious! A happy chappy 😁

Second time coming here. 1st visit the food was nice however we didn't realise until 15 minutes later one of the fish suppers had no chips at all. When we went back the counter service wasnt great and they acted like they didn't believe us and we were making it up. Today we have went and used the 15% offer on website. Seems like a good deal until you get your food and realise only 50% off it was there. Tiny portions with one of the boxes only containing one tiny bit of fish rather than the 1 and a half we got in previous visit and the other box today. Just dissapointing. Go elsewhere .

The best chip shop in Arbroath is a big debate and everyone has their own opinion of which is the champion. Personally I’m split between Marcos and the Golden Haddock. We ordered tonight for delivery to Carnoustie. Delivery costs £5 out here which is on par with others. It was estimated 90 minutes but arrived after about 35. The food was all beautiful. My fish supper came with a little extra bit of fish which was fantastic (see the pic). The portion of chips was a bit disappointing, I’d probably say one of the smallest I’ve ever had as part of a supper. I had a couple of fritters ordered too, so it wasn’t too bad, however given it costs 3.30 to go from a single to supper I’d expect a decent amount of chips. My girlfriend had a half battered pizza which she said was nice. I could hear the crunch any time she bit it which is also good. Onion rings: in most chip shops across Scotland when you get onion rings, it’s those terrible frozen ones that arrive - not hear though! Proper home made onion rings that have been battered. They’re fantastic. All in all, another delicious meal and great service time. A shame about the chips, but that’s overshadowed by how excellent everything else was.

We ordered from Marco’s from red lion caravan park , absolutely abysmal I have never in my life seen anything so badly cooked; And to top it off we had to walk to reception to collect it and they had the cheek to charge me £4 delivery for it ; Paid £42 for 2 single fish, fish supper, chicken goujans , curry sauce , and a sausage supper I am appalled at what we received ; We have used Marcos on the shore for several years being up here and that is now a couple of times that we have had to have food either took back by ourselves: When phoned and kicked up because of the state we were told we had to take food back then he had to a manager to check it over before they issued replacement so I decided no you will just refund me instead; So they refunded me and came to caravan door to get it and yet apparently they can’t deliver it to your door , yes ok then no problem no it’s called if your face fits they will deliver to yoi

Kids fancied an ice cream on their trip to Arbroath. Stumbled across Marco's. It's a chippy and ice cream parlour. Boys ordered 2 cones butterscotch & vanilla huge scoops. Delicious. Just watch when you leave the shop that those fam seagulls don't swoop for a bite!!

This has got to be the worst chip shop I've ever been too, Ordered mince pie supper pie burnt and hard Ordered single fish, looked like a fish finger tasted disgusting Ordered king rib supper, king fish awful Staff rude, using hands to pick up food, and long hair allowed to hang loose. Have felt unwell since I ate mine will never ever return here

We normally have no problems with Marco's and the portion of fish is generous with 1 whole fish and a half if fish is slightly undersized. Tonight we ordered 2 single fish and large chips . The fish was the smallest I've seen just mainly batter the chips were mainly scrapies very disappointing for £16 I phoned to complain about size and how I normally get extra half portion but was told by young lass the it was because the fish was adequately sized! I wish I had took a picture as this was a couple of tiddlers!!

It didn't really taste fresh the fish was grey I would have said possibly frozen correct me if am wrong and the chips tasted frozen not like normal chips from a chip shop.

Very poor service from front counter staff, left waiting for pick up order for six people that had been sitting for over 15 minutes in hot cabinet, when I asked about order all a got was attitude and I didn't take your order. Burger and wraps had turned to mush, inedible, went in bin. Worst service and food I have received in a long long time.

Great place for fish and chips. All the food is cooked to order, so, you will have to wait on it cooking. We now order online on their website and collect. They sometimes have offers of discounts or free ice cream if you order over £25 online so take your spoons! As well as great fish suppers they also do great burgers - I'd recommend the 1/4 special!

We tried this place out today because my brother ate here and said it was amazing and told me to try it and he was not wrong. It Was definitely the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The batter stayed crispy until it was all gone. Really good!!!! We will definitely be back and it will definitely be worth the 20 mile drive over. Thanks Marco's
