Extremely disappointed, ordered food at £37 worth, time was 17.15 and it arrived at 18.45, Stone cold !!! Driver had gotten lost (not his fault) We called up to complain and was was very rude on phone and never got offered any refund or apology. Won't be back.

Extremely disappointed with The Steeple Kirriemuir - Traditional Fish & Chips . Ordered fish suppers to be delivered at 7:30 tonight but they were delivered at 6:20 and cold. When my partner called to complain, they hung up on her 3 times after calling her a liar. Previously they had been excellent but they have been given opportunities to correct an error and chosen instead to alienate their clientele.

Always a great fish supper, highly recommended. Chips are always cooked to perfection and the batter on the fish is nice and crispy! I usually collect but they also can deliver which is very handy.

Unpleasant atmosphere in shop amongst staff and owner. It was like nobody wanted to be there or were there under duress. Chips had a bitter aftertaste. Hope there's another chip shop here as I would definitely not recommend this one.

I called to place a delivery by telephone for a family supper.Having placed my order I was told it wouldn't be long,a hour later I was finding myself on phone asking if the meal had left the shop. Having kids starving for supper I was tempted to cancel the whole order but gave them a chance.On phone I was told order was on way(we only live a ten kins away). 20mins later our food arrives after 2calls to ask where it was and everything is freezing coldComplete Waste of money and upset kids also. Wont be back!

Visit every time we come to Kirriemuir. Cooked fresh to order. Quality and service second to none with friendly staff. Fish is superb and other items were very good too. Don t miss it.

Fish supper is one of the best! The place is spotless and has an extensive menu. Have come for years as family have had a holiday home in town.

Ordered jumbo sausage supper and it was cooked to order which was pleasing. Was OK, but felt the amount of chips was on the small side. Easy to find in the town centre.

I remember having wonderful fish and chips from here when I worked in the town a few years ago. So when family came to stay I recommended that we go and get a fish supper this evening. The kids wanted to eat early, so we just picked up a portion for them to share, and the plan was that we’d go back and order for the adults later. I was so embarrassed. The chips looked and tasted like they’d been kept warm for a day and the fish batter was pale and soggy. Not what it used to be. We didn’t go back for the other 4 portions. Not a patch on North Street in Forfar. Won’t be back I’m afraid :(

I love to eat fish and chips in my car, fresh from the fryer ... always take a metal fork and usually a can of something fizzy to wash it down, oh and whiles I would even prepare a fresh bread and butter sandwich.In Kirrie Centre, The Steeple Chipper is the only real "Fish Supper" venue, though the various oriental carry-outs all do a pretty reasonable fish and chips. It's probably good for all of them to have comprehensive and competent bits of opposition, it's the life of trade and brings the best out in them all. Still, The Scot loves his fish supper from the traditional, often Italianate-ish, chip shop set-up. And, it must be said, The Steeple does it well ... As you order, you can watch the friar batter the fish and lovingly lay it down in its boiling-hot cooking cauldron. That's the way to do it ... That's the way to produce a haddock.

Late night forage for food. Everything was cooked to order, it didnt help with the hunger but was worth the wait.Unusual mushroom slices in breadcrumbs , tasty and totally hit the mark. Not the essiest place to spot if you're not local but worth seeking out.

Just finished the fish and chips at home ... Tea Made by The Steeple Chipper in Kirriemuir High Street. It's been a while since we've taken our evening meal this way, but, Man... it was the right choice. It looks as though there's a new regime in place and the main man, a cheery looking bloke who boasts "Everything Cooked to Order" on his boards, fried us up a very nice well-timed fish meal for two with crispy batter and fresh chips. We are the lot with glee. Only one thing, I did have cash but was going to use my debit card when my server blithely said, "There's a fifty pence charge for cards," to which I replied, "Even for a debit card?" And she offered the affirmative shy not to answer my query. I am left wondering, now ... Is such a rule not recently deemed illegal?

Brilliant hidden gem. Lovely crisp chips and beautifully batered haddock. Reasonably priced compared to others.

Don’t go often as we’re slightly outside Kirrie, but we did take advantage of the home delivery they were offering as a one off in the bad weather, and it was fantastic, great fish, chips and sausage suppers. Would definitely use more often if they offered delivery.

The Steeple is the best Chip Shop around and all of your food is cooked to order and very good food to have on a cold night and if you are visiting Kirriemuir its a must have one take away from The Steeple. 😋

It was half past nine in the evening on a Friday night and amazingly no chips were available and had to be cooked to order, there are 2 ways of looking at this - 1, you know that it's fresh, 2, you have to wait 15 minutes to get something simple

This wee Chipshop is the best and everything is cooked fresh and is just great for a weekend night from not cooking at home. Love this chipshop and best one for miles. Definately worth a trip into there for a treat of great food.

Staff were quick to serve, the food is cooked to order, so not suiting in a hot plate for hours. Chips were nice, and fish was reasonable. Would benefit from a well advertised tea time food n drink offer.

Had fish and chips from this place 2 nights as was at festival in the area - great fish and chips cooked to perfection despite Q being out the door!

Yo siempre he sido bien eliminados hacia el capitel, hace algunos años me dejó un cinco estrellas en la crítica aquí. Desgraciadamente no después de mi experiencia más reciente. Como con todos los chippies mucho depende de quién es esa noche y cómo freír bien el trabajo personal juntos. Que es aceptada como un simple hecho de la vida, así que cuando visiten en esta ocasión me impresionó ver lo bien que la juventud de turno todo el personal estaban haciendo. El servicio fue rápido y eficiente, lo que se desplegaba desde la freidora era buena.

Slow food coming out and the food isn't that great. Reasonable prices though. Apparently the fish is great but I had pizza and it wasn't nice at all.

Estaba buscando algo rápido el pasado viernes como acababa de llegar a la zona de caravanas locales para el fin de semana. Encontré este lugar. Excelente wee chippy!! Amable, rapidez en el servicio, precios razonables y fresco mientras espera. Las patatas fritas eran frescas y...

Tenía un "fish and chips" desde aquí y fue uno de los mejores que he probado. El lugar estaba muy limpio, el personal era cortés y servicial, patatas fritas no grasienta y gran selección en el menú. Volveremos!

Chipshop it's self is excellent, rude staff with very bad telephone manners will not be back which is a shame as it was 2 young lads in tonight owner wasn't there and they clearly need training in customer service I felt very unvalued as a costumer and I was putting them out by calling

Staff are friendly. Food made to order so always fresh. Breaded fish was the best I've had. Hadn't used this chip shop before but will definitely be back to try something else from their menu!

Fed the family last night with fish suppers all round and they proved an all-round winner with everyone. This chip shop, situated right in the heart if the town under the highly noticeable church steeple that houses the four-sided Town Clock is easy to find and well worth finding. ..Fresh and well cooked to order.

Service is brilliant, the staff are always friendly and quick to get the order done. There is a wide variety of foods and is always good for a quick, easy but tasty tea. It is a shame the hours are limited as it would be good to pop in at lunch time or I know a lot of people who would go in after a pub crawl.

This Fish & Chip shop is excellent. Wide range of products and all cooked to order to the highest standard. Fish is fresh and tasty in crisp batter. Would like the odd smile from the staff.

Used The Steeple fish and chip shop for many years,always cooked to order,staff very pleasant.Quality of fish good,now served in cardboard containers.I haven't tried other meals also available ,chicken ,sausages etc.gets busy early evening - tea time.,but well organised.

I do every so often during the summer months a trip to a chip shop for my fish and chip supper with a few biker friends, well anywhere from a handful to 30+ of us.This friday past I ordered a "dressed" fish supper. It was awarded 8 out 10 the best score yet and I have done a few chip pies those past few years!!So well done The Steeple.No seating but outside in Town Square there are some seats laid out.

Excellent fresh fish and lovely chips done to a turn. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. The Steeple is a must visit if in Kirriemuir.

Food Review - Sunday 5 April 2015 Location - This is situated Just off the town centre in Kirriemuir. Car parking - No car park, but plenty of on street parking. To Book Or Not To Book - We phoned in the order, then went and collected. The drinks - No drinks bought. Meal - Evening meal. The food - Fish supper, haggis supper, half battered pizza and onion rings. The seating area - No seating area, take away only. The staff - The staff member who took the food order was polite on the telephone. The staff who served were pleasant. Suggestions - It would be great if they offered a delivery service. Would we go back - Yes we will be back.

Had the scampi supper, sausages and chips with a portion of curry. Very tasty and plenty to fill us up after a 500km drive. We will be back to try something else off the extensive menu.

Cook everything fresh have fish and chips every time I visit family. Phone your order in as it can be a long wait if you walk in but well worth it.

I am going to stick my neck out here. Was in two nights ago and it was excellent. The fish was perfect and the chips were too. An absolute delight.So why is five star sticking my neck out? It's a chippy and everyone should be aware that chippies are variable throughout the evening let alone over the week.There was a "visitor" in front of me getting tetchy over the length of time his chicken was taking but hey, did he ask for it rare? He would probably rate the place two or even one star but nothing to do with the food. In my experience this place is good more often than it's average. My nephew who toured Scotland for the first time two years ago and again last year had his first ever fish supper from the Steeple, was instantly hooked and is adamant he has not found better in his travels since.I can think of a few equals but the Steeple is good.

The staff aren't very cheery and you seem to wait forever to get your food once it's been ordered and it's not worth waiting for

Walked into local chipie for kids treat, last day of holidays.....only to walk into owner behind counter shouting at a young man. In the few minutes I witnessed the rude onslaught; seemed to be either a misunderstanding or mixup with orders. The owner was shouting at the young man asking what he was supposed to do with the order prepared wrongly. I never gave my order, after seeing how he treats his customers I would rather not be one. Advice to owner; don't bring your troubles to work with you.

We have been visiting this part of Scotland for the last four years and we look forward to The Steeple's haggis supper, it's great and well worth driving up from Suffolk for.

Best fish and chip supper north of Edinburgh, Staff were very nice and went out their way to get us what we wanted.

chips a bit undercooked! have always found the staff and service very pleasant. had a lovely fish though!
