Marco Polo in Hartlepool

Had poor experience last night 11/10/24 we have been afew times and enjoyed the night, but last night we waited an hour for our food and when we were served it was rushed because we were going on to somewhere else. We were going for Christmas but taking our business else where.

My wife and I found Marco Polo very friendly and generous, an absolutely first class restaurant in Hartlepool had dinner two subsequent evenings. Food top class - for example pasta with mussels, friendly chat with serving manager!

We ate here for a family celebration on Friday, we had a large party of 27. Food was great and the service was better, we hadn't pre ordered which I thought could potentially cause delays but that wasn't the case. Would definitely recommend and we'll be returning as we didn't have a single complaint from any of our guests. Well done.

Lovely lunch today , with daughter , no special occasion , just my daughter treating me. Plenty of choice 2 courses including a drink for £14.95 . Food was delicious , Staff polite & friendly , Chef's Good at what they do . Thanks everyone

They do a great Sunday carvery here and also do take out carvery as well, which is what we did. Everything was great, the only thing that wasn't a good as it could have been was the beef, which was stringy. Apart from that, 1st class

Very quiet lunch time that we went. Staff were very friendly from the start. Service was excellent. Food was very good, great choice and great sized potions. It was served at the right pace, we didn't feel rushed. It was very family friendly environment. We haven't been to this restaurant for a very long time, we used to enjoy it. So we took a chance today and it didn't disappoint. There is limited parking available on site, but other areas are only a very short walk away. Overall a very nice dinning out experience. Great value for money. It's certainly a great alternative to our favourite restaurant in Hartlepool. Highly recommend and we will be going back.

Lunchtime get together with lovely friends. Amazing food, lovely atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. Great price paid . Portion size very generous. Would definitely return soon. Thanks everyone. 😋

We have just had a food delivery of a Chicken Pasta dish it was very good we asked for chilli to be added and the restaurant was very helpful it tasted delicious

1st time we had been here for years. The food was absolutely amazing we were very impressed. Staff lovely and chatty. We will definitely go again.

The service was second to none very quick getting our meal. My friends and I had the lunch time special which we were all very happy about . I had the Malteser cheesecake which was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be going back there and telling all of my friends. We had a very charming waiter thank you.

When we eventually got the food it was lovely. Service was terrible, the waitress did not have a clue and was miserable. Only six people in the place and we waited for ages for food.But they did give us a reduction in price without having to complain. Atmosphere was non existent and it was freezing in the place. Used to be a great place to go but sadly it will be our last visit.

We were with a large group, 40+, which is always a challenge for the kitchen and staff on top of other patrons. The whole thing was handled efficiently and expertly. I had pasta Con Polo, which wasn't really up to snuff in my opinion. Not horrid or anything, just a bit bland. The dessert, Biscoff Cheesecake, was very good and made up for it. My wife had the Chicken Alfredo and was pleased with hers, overall. She had Hot Chocolate Layer Cake for afters and said it also was very good.

If I could give no stars I would. I was in a party of 24people they had the pre set menu 2wks earlier .the service was slow to start no one knew what was going on food OMG it arrived cold someone starter came with the main veg raw in a dish smaller then a hamster bowl then having to wait 45min between each course it was a farce AVOID AVOID

Usually Sunday lunch here is the best around and staff Very attentive. This week there was a huge drop in quality and service. The vegetables were rock hard, the meal had no flavour and the Yorkshire pudding was the worst I've ever had. Even the dog turned his nose! Guy dishing out the food had a bit of an attitude. Hopefully just a one off and gets back to it's usual self.

Food so far fantastic, cheesy garlic bread was one of the best we've had, parmo's were spot on. Been a couple of times recently and been impressed both times, only marked down atmosphere as there wasnt many in when we were there. Staff are very friendly and helpful, highly recommend

We ordered lasagne & garlic bread for two, it qaa late the garlic bread was stone cold, there was no mince in the lasagne & was like a tray if cold slop very bad & im shocked as i ordered Sunday lunch several times & its always been lovely very disappointed

Had our first takeaway from the Smashed burger Co and the food was absolutely delicious. Ordered through Hartlepool Eats and was very pleased with the quality of the burgers and the chips. The food was piping hot when delivered and its clear the ingredients that were used were fresh. (Rare in Hartlepool!!) Overall, extremely happy with the taste, quality and service therefore thoroughly deserving of 5* rating. Update: Called in for a meal, 2 adults, one child. Pics and vids attached of the meal. Reasonably priced and would visit again.

Held a 18th Birthday dinner here and was throughly enjoyed by all. Food was great and good value. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

We had a great lunch time meal. The pizza was especially good.

Service and food was really nice and we will be recommending it. The down side is it could do with a lick of paint. Overall nice experience and good quality food and service.

Massive portion of meat, lots of vegetable choice, roast and mashed potatoes and homemade yorkshire pudding. Had to take my cheesecake home with me because i was too full!

My husband is not well so it is difficult for us to eat out. For a treat we ordered takeout Sunday Lunch today & it was wonderful. Beautifully cooked meat & vegetables, extremely generous portions quickly delivered piping hot. Worth every penny !

Cold food ..lots n lots of flies. Unhelpful waiter.. the place was dark rundown and the pate starter the salad looked like it had been pulled out of bin. 3 starters bottle 1 wine 37 pound ..terrible experience...will never return

Meal was gorgeous only 1 problem the salmon was beautiful but the skin was burnt.

I have visited this restaurant twice this week, both times I’ve thought the food was lovely and great value for money when ordering off the specials menu. The first time we got the 2 course special, I got the chicken wings which had a nice flavour but I did think they were slightly underdone, they could of been crispier. The hot shot parmo made up for it tho, it was perfect. The second time I came with my son and we got both got the potato skins then I got bolegnase pizza and my son a seafood pasta, everything was lovely and we got loads so I asked the waitress to box up what we couldn’t eat to take home. The bill was only just over £20 which was a bargain for a huge 2 course meal and 2 cokes each with enough for tea later!

Went in here today service was bad sat around a hour to be brought out the wrong food to then have to wait a further 25 mins for the then the food to come out full of oil and grease dry chicken also got a pint of warm coke starter was potato skins really thin and crispy potential choking hazard also only part orders. things missing from every order complained and they reduced £4.85 from bill which overall restaurant is a shambles

I ordered from the happy hour menu, Thai fish cakes and lasagne. When the main course arrived the lasagne contained no meat. After I complained the lasagne was deducted from the bill but as it was a Happy Hour meal I don’t think I was compensated. The waiter gave a silly unacceptable reason why it didn’t contain meat. Felt unhappy and that they didn’t care. I will not return!!

Visited here this evening and we were pleasantly surprised just how good this place was. We ordered 2 Parmo specials and a kids Parmo meal. Great service from the 2 waiters, excellent food which we felt was very good value. We’ll definitely visit again.

Beautiful food. Good prices/ deals / specials. Always go the extra mile. Childs play area with trained staff was an amazing bonus with 5 kids.

Lovely mid week carvery, proper yorkshires, cracking portions of beef,gammon and turkey and the gravy was top.

Whent for carvery but couuldnt choose from the meats or flies , the food had been out a long time and was very dry. But the worst thing was the amount of flies , waited a long time for drinks. Then got told they ran out of ingredients for our cocktails. The music was banging so couldn't hear our self very poor would not rtn or recommend

Fabulous 2 course meal! Well presented, larger portion than expected and absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef. A special mention to the lovely staff tonight, James and Lily, who were an absolute pleasure. Very welcoming and attentive looking after our every need . Would definitely recommend. Visited as moving to Hartlepool so looking for good places to eat. Hardly anyone in+none of the nice cooking smells you usually get when walking into a restaurant which was a red flag. Potato skins were full of black bits+garlic dip didn’t have any garlic in whatsoever! My main course had little square bits of grey chicken in+a few very small bits of frozen broccoli +the sauce tasted like nothing, I left it all. Hubbys arrabiata was just as tasteless. Avoid if you don’t want to waste £30 on a microwave meal

Absolute disgrace we ordered a hanging kebab and chicken was pink with blood still in it don't recommend going here .😡

Was freezing cold inside which is a bad start food just ok. Tomato garlic bread starter was better than my main. Won't be back in a hurry

First time here for Sunday lunch. Which is a carvery it's got everything and more can't fault it really enjoyed my Sunday lunch and I'm usually fussy. Will definitely be back reccomend.

Very overcrowded restaurant. Starters arrived then on to Carvery for main course, lots of veg choices and hot. Waited after for over 40 minutes for dessert but unfortunately it didn't arrive. They took them off the bill.

Never would I book for Christmas Dinner not organised at all , dinner should of started at 3pm never got my starter till 4pm starter wrong both times delivered to table by the time I got to the carvery no turkey left ,disappointed as I only eat turkey, £65 it cost per head all 15 of family members did not enjoy our Christmas dinner , definitely would never go again

A came with a group of friends on Thursday the 15th of December at teatime it was also my 60th birthday I had a 3 course meal prawn cocktail to start with then the mains basic parmo with chunky chips and sweet I had their homemade cheesecake which is to die for all the food was very tasty and well presented and hot because we were a large group we had 3 staff waiting on us all staff were very pleasant an polite the only downside was the restaurant was cold I also came on Saturday the 17th of December for lunch with family to celebrate my 60th I had the potato skins and a parmo with chunky chips I didn’t have a sweet because my daughters surprise me with a birthday cake the waitresses brought it to our table she was very helpful and kind I had a lovely 2 days at Marco Polo’s celebrating with my family and enjoying a Christmas meal with friends 😊

Nice homemade Sunday lunch delicious beef good variety of veg £10.50 each

Came here with family for the carvery, meat was lovely although just offered 1 slice of each meat, veg was nice too and plenty of it although the stuffing looked like soup as did the mushy peas and the gravy did appear very dark so doubt meat juices were used, finished off with dessert all of which were very moreish and nice to see fresh fruit on the plate too, staff attentive and very polite as well. But however the grumble that we all had was that there was a very strong smell of bleach when tables near to us were cleaned down after guests had left, is it really necessary to use such a strong smelling chemical esp when people around are still eating? Cleaning them with sanitizer spray would have sufficed and then when all patrons have left that is the time to get the bleach out.

Food was fantastic the only down side was we has to ask for our drinks twice

Ordered 2 carvery dinners delivered, they came cold and squashed in together over spilled out of the trays all into the bag. The beef wasn't carved it is pulled beef. The gravy tasted lovely and the roasties serperate where done nice. It is a real shame but when you spent nearly 30 pound on food you would think it would be handled with care. Very disappointed unfortunately

My first time visit, nice atmosphere and the manageress was very helpful. As our starter we had the potato skins, which were fantastic! Unfortunately a big let down on the main course, the chicken in the Alfredo and Con polo pastas was very hard and not good. I was offered a replacement but instead accepted 10% reduction on the bill. Overall good value for money, if the chicken had been right it would have been 4 stars. On a side note, the plates should have been hot not warm. we will return with the promise that their chicken is usually good.

We had a table booked for 5.30 tonight for a family celebration. Turned up and there was noone there the full place was shut up. No phone call or any cancellation notice. Found out later they had shut for a refurb. Had to scramble around to find somewhere else last minute. Was really looking forward to trying there but will not book again

Just ordered an absolute feast from here and what an amazing time it was! Piping hot when it came, everything tastes unreal, food was on time, delivery driver was lovely. Honestly couldn't fault it. We order from here alot but tonight is by far the best ☺️

Went here tonight with my family for a meal staff were very friendly my husband wanted mussels for starters with no garlic as it makes him unwell the chef said he couldn’t make mussels without garlic after some humming my husband settled for a prawn cocktail he went on to have a steak and asked for gravy as it was dry and had to pay extra my daughter wanted cheesecake so we asked what kind was available as we all wanted cheesecake to be told there was only one peace left well can’t of ran out there was only six people in so we had to have chocolate brownie which was hard as rock we drank our drink and left which all cost us £92 won’t be going again that’s for sure

60th birthday party held here. A good choice on the menu, my favourit was the salmon fillet. With helpful and attentive waiters we enjoyed a lovely evening.

Food was nice drinks reasonably priced. U fortunatly the place is very echoey. Every time a chair is moved and it scrapes the floor it is deafening. It needs some pads on feet of chairs and soft furnishings and rugs to take away the harshness of noise.

Loved it here! Excellent food! The chocolate cheesecakes are Amazing!!! Had Terry's chocolate orange cheesecake before and a Galaxy with hobnob biscuit base this time..they are Delicious! Would have one every day if I could! 100% recommend.

Disgusting! Ordered takeaway from Hartlepool Eats, order over 30 minutes late, rang restaurant and they couldn’t find my order and were rude. Delivery driver was stressed and rude. Food was stone cold, carbonara tasted and looked like a COOP ready meal, as if cold wasn’t bad enough by adding bland tasteless and watery they really topped the dish off! Garlic bread was freezing. Dining there may be different but wouldn’t recommend their takeaway food to anyone. Not authentic Italian cooked food - pizza shop garlic bread and ready meal standard pasta dishes.

Me, my brother and my dad were planning on going to a restaurant/ getting fast food and we chose Marco Polo because we had recently had a great time there. Very good, I recommend.

Just had a takeaway delivered from Marco Polo and it was absolutely delicious and was delivered within 30 minutes of ordering. Can't wait for the restaurants to open back up so we can eat in there again. It was definatley great value for money!
