The service was impeccable; our server (Josh) was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. He guided us through the evening with perfect timing, ensuring we never felt rushed. Now, onto the food— We began with the warm baked sourdough, calamari, and scotch egg, all of which tasted beautiful. For the main course, I opted for the fillet steak, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, served with garlic king prawns and a confit potato that complemented the dish flawlessly. My girlfriend chose the roast rack of lamb which she thought was delicious and plenty flavorful. Alongside these, I had a side bowl of peas while my girlfriend had onion rings. I don't need to say anything about how we felt regarding dessert as I think the photo speaks for itself. We were so appreciative to the chefs for making it out of kindness. Overall, this restaurant deserves every one of its five stars. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking a night of exceptional food and service, this restaurant will not disappoint. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended!

We had a voucher that we hadn't been able to use due to lockdown, we booked a table as soon as we could and decided to stay the night as well.I ordered the calmarii and my wife had the scotch egg, both were ok but nothing outstanding given the cost of a starter.Mains we both had Fillet steaks on the sourdough mine with king prawns, my wife with garlic sauce, served with chips and vine tomatoes, @£30 each I can only say it was totally disappointing, tiny steak, 3 prawns, no bernaise sauce, no seasoning, just no flavour at all, the same for my wife's meal, we had intended on having dessert, but skipped and retreated back to our room. When I asked for the bill, i was told I had spent bang on £100 pound no further charge convenient.Terrible service, drinks incorrect, order a double get a single, and food over rated and over priced, this wasn't our first time, but most definitely the last, Marco Pierre White surely wouldn't be happy if he tasted what we had been presented with.If your in Bridgwater looking for food, don't eat here, there are loads cal small businesses doing fat better food for far less cost.

Bit of a weird one as I'm doing the review BEFORE I have my food but the young man that served me named Sam was an absolute star, first day back after lockdown and it was really nice for someone to be so nice and welcoming. Fair play mate, you put a smile on my face. If the food is as good as this lad's service, I'll be happy.

Visited the restaurant for the first time as was gifted vouchers for christmas last year, havent been able to use them due to lockdowns. I emailed the resturant to which I was told vouchers would be extended but when came to paying the bill the vouchers were declined! This is very bad as they've already had the voucher money but people are unable to use the vouchers!!! I've contacted resturant to explain my complaint and they've now pushed the blame to a 3rd party voucher company!! This is bad service! BEWARE WHEN PURCHASING VOUCHERS IF ANOTHER LOCKDOWN THEY WILL DECLINE VOUCHERS!!! Shame as food n restaurat was nice!

We stay for three nights in the hotel on a Secret Escapes deal so had three meals here - whilst there is a slightly scaled down menu for his offer there was plenty of choice of good meals to keep us happy for three nights. If anything there was just a little too much food on offer, and I am a big eater!

We were staying at the Mercure Bridgwater and decided to dine in the restaurant the night before my husbands birthday. We were sat at a booth table which was great. We ordered Fillet and Sirloin steaks which were cooked perfectly and they were happy to swap our chunky chips to fries when asked. Special mention to Caroline (I hope I got that right) who was the restaurant manager who helped me organise a spontaneous dessert for my husband. He didn’t feel like a sweet treat after dinner but joked he’d prefer a scotch egg. Well Caroline and I made that happen complete with a happy birthday plate and a rocket of a sparkler! My husband was throughly surprised and loved it! Thanks for the great food and making our night so special!

Ate here for dinner and it was so good I left late on the Sunday and had Sunday lunch before returning home. Lovely break just down the road enjoying time away from the kids, the restaurant service couldn’t have been better they even made a fuss of my partners birthday with a lovely little platter with dessert. Food was fab, perfectly cooked and served with a smile.Yes it’s a bit odd eating out these days and there seems to be less atmosphere as everyone’s spaced out but I certainly felt safe with the measure they have in place. Rooms was fantastic too and spotlessly clean. Not sure I needed a 3 course Sunday lunch the following day but it didn’t disappoint with succulent roast beef and a lovely crumble to finish with.Hope we can ditch the kids and return sooner rather than later do another mini break!

Dined here last night and felt I had to sign up and leave a review as I wasn’t sure what to expect from a few of the recent reviews I read and nearly booked elsewhere. My experience was great and I’m glad I tried it, considering some of the obvious changes that have been made (the are very on the ball from what I saw) the staff were very friendly and the steak was so tender and tasty I’ve not had better for a long time. Was it perfect? No - I’m not sure I’ve ever been anywhere that was. BUT was my fear misplace - 100% I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and didn’t think the prices were any higher than any other restaurant of this standard.I will definitely be returning when next in the area and maybe those who’ve been recently just caught them on a bad day - we all have them after all (well I do anyway!).

Looking forward to a meal in the Marco Polo Restaurant with family. I love a fish cake but the one I was served was very disappointing, just a pile of mashed up salmon with breadcrumbs over the top. It had no consistency and was extremely boring and tasteless. When I complained to the waitress saying that I thought it was poor for a Marco Polo dish she said they were just a franchise! What is Marco Polo doing putting his name to a restaurant but has no influence what food they produce.

This has to be the worst meal and experience we have ever had in a restaurant. It was for my birthday and even though my we had given them the heads up before we arrived a little gesture or acknowledgment would have been nice!!!We were shown to our table and the waitress came over to take our order, she was scruffy, wearing trainers and uncombed hair, crunched up on the top of her head, very rude and not attentive at all. She took ages to bring over the expensive bottle of wine we ordered and just plonked it on the table, didn't ask us if we wanted to taste it and didn't pour it? We ordered steak to be cooked medium and when it arrived it was rare, bloody, fatty and chewy - the worst steak we have ever seen, absolutely inedible. We called the waitress over to tell her and she shouted to her manager "oi can you came over and speak to this bloke, he has a complaint' then glared at us and walked off. So all in all awful ambience, awful service and awful food - I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone ever and I would be embarrassed if I were Marco Pierre White to put his name to something that is so poor.

Maybe we were expecting too much, especially because of the name on the door. Despite it being a chain, we thought we'd get excellence. Unfortunately, this was anything but. Incredibly, it started with a bone in my husband's calamari. No one knows how it could have happened since calamari does not contain any bones. And yet, it did. Interestingly, the chef didn't think he needed to apologise for it. The steak was truly terrible, a rare steak with rubbery fat that's not been rendered at all. My gnocchi was chewy and doughy and if I'd wanted that much dough I'd have ordered a pasty. After sending both mains back, we again, did not receive any real apology. Just an excuse about designated suppliers. Still, the chef still did not bother to step out of the kitchen. The service wasn't really that much better, actually, we'd been sat for more than 15 minutes before our drinks order was even taken. I expected quality and excellence. I got mediocrity and dissatisfaction. If anyone does decide to go, expect nothing, maybe then MPW will live up to your expectation.

Having had my birthday meal cancelled because of covid-19 at the end of march ,my partner decided to book a table at the Marco Pierre white restaurant in the mercure hotel in Bridgwater at the end of August, I haven't been to the restaurant before but my partner has been there once, entering the hotel we had to sanitize our hands and wait to be seated ( after booking online a week ago ), all the staff were wearing masks, our table was next to the window and we were the first customers of the evening ,we were asked for our choices from the menu and we ordered our drinks , the service was very quick and tables were beginning to get occupied, we both had the cod ,chips and peas, it was well presented and tasted lovely, we had another drink and after a break ordered our desserts, a blueberry cheesecake and a sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, it was very tasty , a bit more expensive than some restaurants but for the service, setting and quality and presentation of food well worth it, and as it was out first venture to eat out since the lockdown it was well worth the venture from a couple in our late sixties.

We have ate in this hotel and stayed here and always left positive reviews until tonight. Very poor covid 19 procedures in place, tables and seats not sanitized between diners, people entering through various doors without using hand sanitiser and the restaurant manager oblivious to it all. I did speak to him and said I would be writing this review. The food was good as we have come to expect from here, but tonight the service and the above was totally unacceptable, waited far to long to order drinks. When the wine was brought it was just put straight into the ice bucket, no would we like to taste the wine or can i poor it. The food was served again no attempt to poor the wine, when the plates were taken away no comments on was everything ok. We paid the bill promptly and left. This was easily our worse dining out experience for a long time. If you check my other reviews you will see I very rarely post a one star review. MPW and Mecure really need to step up.

As a woman dining alone I couldn’t fault the staff who were just the right amount attentive - I felt very looked after. The food was delicious - I had the chicken forestierre one night and steak the next. The chicken was moist and flavoursome, the steak cooked to perfection (bleu) . Wine was good quality, delicious and not too expensive (compared to London prices) and the amazing waitress found me a bin end desert wine by the glass not on the menu. I thought it really great value with the set menu for a two night break. Wonderful team - really hope this place does well.

Even though we booked on line, when we got to the restaurant they had no reservation for us, but agreed togive us the discount offer, as apparently this happens occasionally. The restaurant is modern, clean, comfortable and plenty of space. There was enough staff and a good ambience. No one offered to take our coats, there was nowhere to hang them, so we sat all evening with damp coats on our chairs..The French onion soup was good but the "meat" around the scotch egg was soft and moose like and I queried had it been cooked enough? For mains we both ordered medium rare steaks. One was cooked to perfection, the other one was overcooked. In fairness they offered to replace it and had we been paying full price I would have taken them up on the offer, but I did not want to be eating after my husband had finished his meal. The chips were extremely nice, the mushrooms were very tasty but it was difficult to find the onions in the rings as they were too crispy. The bill included 10% service charge and with with two glasses of wine came to £66 with 50% discount on mains. Had we not had the discount this meal would have cost us almost £100. Would we go there again? Not when we can get an equally good meal, for less... although that may be in "pub" like surroundings...or if they had an even better offer than the one we had that night. The price is higher than most of those found locally and it is trading on the mpw name.....But that doesn't make it better just different!

Would really love for there to be an exceptional restaurant in Bridgwater but sadly this isn’t it. Calamari was good. Steak was quite tasteless, also medium rare was rare. Two of us had the steak and paid the extra for it but unfortunately both disappointed. The sauce that accompanied the steak had too much tarragon which was overpowering, maybe to cover up the lack of flavour in the steak. Another one of our party had the chicken and said it was very salty. Another had the burger, I’m no cordon bleu chef but in comparison to my home made burgers it looked pitiful.I would ditch this place in favour of the river parter, made in Italy or Maliwans, three very good reasonably priced restaurants in Bridgwater.I will say the staff were lovely, this review is no reflection on them, simply the food not being up to scratch.

A very mixed experience. The positives:- the chicken dish was apparently very nice- the triple cooked chips were amazing- the chocolate mousse was apparently also goodThe negatives:- the steak was fatty, unevenly cooked and lukewarm at best. It was also meant to be served with a bearnaise sauce which was missing; when queried were told they didn’t have any but could provide a peppercorn substitute which arrived halfway through the meal. - also didn’t have any potato fondant which was the advertised accompaniment to the chicken; chips or potato dauphinois were offered as alternatives - the salt and pepper grinders on all tables are identical but for a P or S embossed on the top. I picked up one and saw the P so put it down and picked up the other assuming it was the salt and ended up grinding pepper over my chips before realising that our table had 2 pepper grinders and no salt. Borrowed a salt grinder from the next table having triple checked it was indeed an S this time and not a P. Partly my fault I admit but would have expected tables to have a salt and pepper each.

My starter if soup was lovely but my husband chose the whitebait that was inedible due to the amount of cayenne pepper that had been applied in the kitchen. We sent the dish back and they took no further orders for it after manager sampled and agreed. My main of hamburger was fine and my husband had the fish and chips. He had said no seasoning but it was served to him with lots of salt over the whole dish, again this was sent back. The restaurant had no more than 10 tables full and yet the service was some of the worst I have ever experienced, not only did we constantly see staff checking their phones or chatting but not once were we asked how our food was after being served all 3 courses. Following the main I did mention that the side of vegetables I ordered had been bordering on cold and only just edible and the watercress on both of our mains was yellowing and obviously past it’s best, I was given an insincere “sorry about that” and no further comment. On leaving the restaurant there were no efforts made in looking after us it was like they just wanted us to leave quietly without saying a word, we didn’t create a fuss we just wanted it to be recognised that it’s not acceptable to find a long hair in your food. However, the service was lacking and fairly inattentive. I had to request various items such as milk and sugar after the pot of tea was brought to our table, plus some cutlery. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were all delicious so no moans there, but for the cost of the Afternoon Tea, the service (and even atmosphere) was less than I have experienced at other venues so therefore disappointing.

We booked a meal for my daughter's birthday. The service was slow right from the time we entered the establishment. Drinks took ages (mine was ordered first but served last). None of the staff seemed to know what was going on. There was no manager, or if there was, there was certainly no management. My daughter was really pleased when she ordered her starter - camembert, her favourite. When the starters were eventually served, the waitress dropped the camebert and my son's starter on the floor. Perhaps if the items had been served on plates rather than bits of wood, then they might have been less likely to be dropped. The food stayed on the floor for at least 5 minutes, long enough for me to take a picture. None of the staff seemed to know what to do or how to clear it up. They then came to the table and announced that that had been the only camembert and that my daughter would have to order something else. She declined because there was nothing else she wanted. Bearing in mind that our table was booked for 6.45pm it was not a late night booking. There is a an Aldi supermarket next door, Morrisons half a mile away in one direction, Asda, Sainsbury's and Lidl half a mile away in the other direction, someone should have checked the stock earlier in the day and perhaps had a few more purchased. My son's replacement starter took so long that he cancelled it. Mains were OK but nothing special. Sticky toffee pudding was more like one out of a packet - nowhere near as good as mine. There's a challenge for you, Mr White!

After visiting the restaurant previously and being impressed I thought I would book this as a meal for my hen evening, as I wanted something a bit special, I was extremely disappointed with the service received, we had to ask for drink orders to be taken, when ordering a drinks it took 20 mins for them to come, I gave up in the end and went to the bar to order mine, we then had to ask again for someone to take drinks orders with the meal, no one came to check if everything was ok, no one came to ask if the meal was ok, we found ourselves having to hunt for staff to approach with our issues, mainly because they were so busy dealing with all the other complaints from all the other tables. The food was unacceptable and came out at variant times, some had finished eating before others had arrived considering we pre booked our food this is unacceptable, a number of the meals were uneaten or sent back, the remainder of us left half, the quality was unacceptable and some not edible, the manager refused to come and talk to us despite repeated requests, I would understand this if we were loud and drunk or rowdy but the reality is no one had come to serve our drinks so in the three hours this meal took, we had two drinks each!! The manager was ill dress, unprofessional and did not look smart at all, she instead of coming and speaking to us sent a young girl who only looked 17 considering she new we were all unhappy and had complaints this was really unfair and we all felt very sorry for the girl having to take our complaints. The restaurant frankly did its self out of a very large bill because the reality is a hen party of 14 would have brought large amounts of alcohol and we had all intended on having 3 courses but due the poor service and quality and the over the top waits between courses we didn’t want desserts. My bill on my hen party was £27 I think that says everything it needs too, when visiting previously for a normal meal and catch up I spent triple that because the staff were attentive and the service was great. This actually tainted the night and spoilt what should have been a really special evening for myself with my friends and family, further to this it left my red faced and embarrassed because I had recommended this to everyone and requested we go there.

I had calamari and the over priced steak which was poor for the money and my wife had the same.luckily as we were eating we found a groupon which eased the pain of paying for poor food as I would have felt ripped off paying full price. Staff could do with a bit more training too.

We booked the Marco Pierre restaurant for my parents Platinum Wedding Anniversary for Afternoon tea. Absolutely wonderful hotel, clean, modern, welcoming. Each member of staff we met went above and beyond to make the occasion special, especially Matt and Katarina. And then the food! Gorgeous fresh sandwiches and the cakes were out of this world - thank you to the lovely chefs on the day who were all smiles and friendliness. The Mercure is a gem in our developing little town and I can highly recommend it. You should be very proud of your staff :)

Stopped off on the way to Cornwall.. The Mecure maybe focused towards the business community.. but also caters for the traveller passing through looking for somewhere great to stay.. We booked via Secret Escape which included a bottle of Prosecco in the room and a 3 course meal in the Marco Peirre White restaurant on site.. We were both blown away with the overall service and the food, which was just lovely..

Visited for Sunday lunch with my husband. Saw a voucher on Groupon for 2 courses and a glass of wine for £29, good value. Lovely restaurant with friendly staff. Food was overall good, husband had starter of pea and ham soup, which he enjoyed. Both had Sunday roast for mains, I had pork and hubby had the beef. We did find the roast potatoes a bit hard but the waitress got us some more when we mentioned it. Meat, gravy, veg and Yorkshire pudding were all very tasty. It was very quiet and the service did seem a bit slow considering. We shared sticky toffee pudding for dessert which finished off the meal nicely. It was an enjoyable experience and we would return.

Went here for the second time last night with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place itself is stylish and comfortable and the food scrumptious, the lamb rump was perfectly cooked with a really tasty sauce and the rice pudding to die for. My husband loves his scotch egg and burger, the chef's obviously take real care over the food as it's presented beautifully as well. Good wine selection with reasonably priced options and the three cocktails I had were lush - a De Riguer whiskey based cocktail, a Mai Tai and of course a Pornstar Martini.

Dined here on 22/4/19 with three Coeliac family members and really pleased to find there were separate gluten free menus with a great selection of dishes. All our Starters and Main courses were excellent. We were not tempted by the desserts therefore I cannot comment. The waiter service needs to be improved and prices are high for the area but the food was superb.

I never write reviews but felt that the food was so bad I had to. The only reason it has a 1 star rating (and not 0 if possible) is that the young waiter was friendly and courteous. I had the beetroot starter that was tiny and no bread to accompany and a burger for mains which you would probably be able to get a better one at a roadside stop. When I mentioned it was inedible (left 3/4 of it) to another waiter he said it was solid because it had bone marrow in it??? My friends liked some of their food but the portions were so small for the price that they were still hungry after, and don’t even get me started on the price of the wine. Shame and definitely won’t be going back.

The first thing that struck us was the limited menu. Not always a bad thing if the food is good - we’ll come to that in a moment. The second thing that struck us was the prices - high for the area, so we were expecting great things. The service was hap hazard. Of the meals chosen, the steaks were evidently good (which at £30 they should have been) as were the chicken dishes. The duck was nice but very poorly presented. I personally had a burger, which was average to say the least, and totally overpowered by the ballistic blue cheese sauce. And it was £15! The calamari starter was nice. The deserts varied. Two of us in the party had a starter, a main, a desert, and just soft drinks. This totalled £76. I have had much better than this locally for less money. Was it a bad experience? No, certainly not, but neither was it an experience to be enthusiastic about. If you want a really nice meal out locally, with good service and a nice atmosphere, there are much better choices available at this money, such as the River Parrett. Sorry Marco Pierre, but we all left feeling underwhelmed.

Three of us visited on a Thursday evening in January 2019. The restaurant was almost empty, perhaps 3 or 4 other occupied tables. Two of us had starters, all had mains and all had desserts. The starters (ribs/prawn cocktail) were OK, certainly nothing special. Two of us ordered the macaroni cheese for the main course. It was *extremely* bland and came with a "green salad" which was in fact a minuscule quantity of very fine leaves supposedly with a truffle dressing but that must have evaporated by the time it got to our table. The other person in our group had the duck which they said was "nice". For desserts we had cheese and fruit cake. The fruit cake was actually good, the cheese was meant to be a fancy cheddar so we were expecting something crumbly and with a bite to it. If you can imagine if Mellow Birds made cheese.........The service was fine but the food was very disappointing. There are some pubs in the area that outshine this in terms of quality of food and value. You can view prices on the menu on line but to give you an idea, for the three of us for the above and two bottles of wine, roughly £180. I can't imagine we'd visit again.

So, considering the location... the staff were great, food satisfactory and departure smoothe. I particularly liked my greeting by Molly, she is sweet as pie and my solo dining experience was made exceptional by a lady called Jolene, she is utterly charming and professional and id be sad for Bridgwater to see her seek greener pastures. Perhaps management with a smoother and kinder tongue would benefit the busniess- until next time

We ate here on Saturday evening taking advantage of the 50% off voucher we had. The food was good and the meat cooked perfectly, there just wasn’t enough of it. I ordered a side of the delicious triple cooked chips to accompany my rump of lamb (2 small but thickly cut rumps), half a dozen green beans and a small rectangular piece of dauphinois potatoes. I’d eat here again but I wouldn’t pay full price, I’d need to save some money for a kebab on the way home.

We were met by our waiter Matthew who immediately showed us to our table and chatted to us about the menu and took our drinks order. My husband ordered scallops and steak and I chose bettroot/ walnut and goats cheese starter followed by lamb rump. Our food was absolutely delicious. We really did not need a pudding but Matthew suggested the crumble, which was to die for! Matthew was very attentive, without being intrusive. The staff are really friendly and chatty especially Naomi who is fantastic and remembered us on second visit. Great service from the hard working servers and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was delicious! My husband tried the scallops, the steaks were just wonderful! Especially with the garlic and wild mushroom sauce. The triple cooked chips are amazing!! And after some recommendations from the servers we opted for the billionaires shortbread and the box tree mess for our pudding everything was delicious. We have been to both Marco restaurants in central London and actually think this beat them. Thank you for a lovely meal once again

Can’t complain about the food it was all good but very overpriced. A steak is £27.50 and only comes with tomatoes chips and watercress. If you want any mushrooms, onion rings or anything else these are all £3.25 each. The service was good and restaurant is nicely fitted out but obviously no view just the traffic lights but they can’t help that. Dessert was the best and a good price but overall probably won’t be rushing back as can get better cheaper.

Friendliest pub I’ve ever been to!.. discovered this pub whilst staying in Haven and didn’t bother going to any other pubs the whole time we were here. All the staff (Tina especially) and the landlords Steve and Rick, really made us feel welcome and treated us as locals. Great atmosphere- the bar staff will play any songs you want on the Jule box- you just ask and as I said earlier, they are a really friendly bunch.
