Very nice, friendly staff. Not busy at all, I was expecting it to be more vibrant, however it was early afternoon so I presume it would be busier in the evening. We were having afternoon tea, sandwiches were good and fresh, cakes were ok but the scones were so hard and stale that they were inedible. I spoke to the waiter about them and he said the chef would make some more. I asked if the chef actually made them and he said no, that they were frozen. I thought that was a shame considering how simple it is to make scones. They boxed some of the cakes up for us to take away and I asked for them to put a couple of extra in to compensate for the scones, which they did.

We had high expectations about this place but I have to say that the food was really bad. The onion soup had nothing even remotely like the original: two croutons in a sea of water and onion. The chicken costing 23 pounds consisted of two small pieces of meat with a lot of bone on a bunch of spinach. Last but not least, the pie arrived with a hair mixed in with the mushrooms: I asked to change my plate and it arrived after 5 minutes (when previously they had told me that it would take 20 minutes to make it, ergo they just removed the hat from the dish). However, it wasn't a real pie but it was a meatball made with low quality meat inside a bit of puff pastry! A disgusting thing. At least they took it off the bill. The only positive note: the waiter, really attentive and kind. For the rest I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place!

We went along to Marco Pierre Whites in Liverpool on Tuesday 29th of October 2024. We had regularly visited the restaurant in Glasgow a few years ago and were looking for the same high quality service, we weren't disappointed. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The customer service shown by our waiter Peter was outstanding and a real credit to the restaurant. His in depth knowledge of the menu and wine list gave us confidence on our decision. The level of attention he and other waiters gave us and other diners didn't drop when the restaurant filled with a large booking. The meal was excellent as anticipated which were steaks cooked to perfection. Overall this was a great dining experience and we will definitely visit again when we are next in Liverpool. A big thanks to all the staff at Marco Pierre Whites in Liverpool.

This restaurant should advertise as shoe repairers. How they could call the meat they served a steak is beyond belief. The meat was poor quality and very badly cooked. The restaurant is clean. The staff were busy so service was slow. The pub in our village serves a 16oz Sirloin which would give this place a run for its money. We booked this as a 60th Birthday meal for family. It was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Don't waste your money here.

I booked a table for Father’s Day, the restaurant was completely empty , staff were professional and friendly, but sadly the food we were served was totally unaccepted , we ordered our two courses, and our starters arrived which were disappointing my soup was boiling hot and it felt it come straight out of a microwave and when our roast diners arrived everything was overcooked and burnt. No taste and it looked like a school dinner prepared by an amateur chef that had been shoved under a heat lamp and then served to us. We sent our plates back to the kitchen and we made our feelings clear to waiter that it was unaccepted and we were offered alternative dishes on the menu but we declined, we were not charged for any food but we paid the drinks bill and left. I made my feelings clear to the maitre d’and I said they food was totally unacceptable and left. I felt so disappointed and let down by this restaurant and I have not intention of ever returning.

We booked this 2 days beforehand for afternoon tea our first clue should have been this was the only place that wasn’t booked out. I had been to Marco Pierre in Birmingham for afternoon tea before and it was fab so wasn’t concerned. We were a booking of 6 adults and 2 children. We ordered 3 afternoon tea as it’s 2 people to each afternoon tea and a child’s afternoon tea for the 5 year old as she was looking at a picture of it and it had gingerbread men and other fun stuff on it. She received a plate with tomato and cream cheese sandwich cucumber and cream cheese sandwich and 2 pieces of the same chocolate cake the adults got. If they had told us the children’s was nothing like the picture we wouldn’t have ordered it but in fairness they could have had a packet of cookies from Aldi just so the kids afternoon tea had at least a cookie on it. Anyway we ordered her a Mac and cheese so she was sorted. We were told when we ordered the adults afternoon tea it was one per 2 people and if we needed any extra sandwich’s or cakes just to let them know it was all included as was the tea and coffee the adults was only ok again tomato and cream cheese and cucumber and cream cheese sandwich’s on the vegetarian one we explained it was vegetarian not vegan so egg sandwiches and cheese sandwiches would be fine but don’t think they do them in Liverpool we definitely got them in Birmingham but anyway only half a ham sandwich on each of the regular afternoon teas so we asked for another ham sandwich only to be told we had to pay extra for it it we said ok. When we first put out order in we ordered 3 teas and 2 lattes tea came out with the food no problem we had finished eating and still no sign of the lattes we had asked politely a couple of times I could understand if it was busy but there were only 2 other customers there when they eventually they came a regular latte and an oat milk latte they were out of oat milk so brought an almond milk latte instead without checking first if that was ok or if the person who ordered it had nut allergies we just said it was fine and took it both lattes very cold. The waiter serving was nice and pleasant but I feel service could have been better obviously the standard of the food and the kitchen being out of stuff wasn’t his fault. Our overall experience wasn’t great and I wouldn’t recommend it for afternoon tea maybe it’s very good for the other menu steaks burgers ect…. definitely not for afternoon tea I would except a lot better for what they are charging I had afternoon tea and 1 non alcoholic cocktail for £52 which was €62

Updated review 2nd May 2024. I’ve eaten here a number of times over the past few years – it was always good, solid choice offering well-cooked, consistent meals. The new spring/summer menu is disappointing, however. Marco restaurants have recently moved to a seasonal menu concept after several years of an unchanged menu – the autumn/winter menu was decent, although it did seem to be an excuse to reduce the number of core options on the menu (Wheeler’s Fishcake and two of the burgers were removed, for example). This was my first visit following the introduction of the spring/summer menu and I have to say, I wasn’t impressed. The choice of starters is now quite weak, compared to comparators – the scotch egg is still on there, but you have to be in the mood for something like that and the spring/summer specials are particularly uninspired. I opted to try the new the tart of mushrooms – in theory that sounded very nice – a tart with mushrooms, egg and hollandaise. The reality was incredibly disappointing – a large and (very) thick tart base (almost a pie), filled with a vinegary-tasting mushed mix of mushroom paste. Soft boiled egg and sauce on top. The tart itself was far too large for a starter, the base very dry and thick. Hard to eat and the Hollandaise couldn’t save it. I didn’t finish the tart and wouldn’t order this again – not at all what you’d expect. For the main I ordered the chicken forestierre – previously experience with this dish has been very positive – well-cooked chicken with potato, mushrooms and spinach. Last night’s version all felt a bit no-effort though – the chicken was ok, the potato seemed more like a chunk of basic-boiled potato than the previous version and there were barely any mushrooms. Appreciate the restaurant was busy, but if this was my first time, I wouldn’t be coming back again on the basis of last night’s dinner. The pudding menu has lost a few of the previous options – the 70% chocolate was always good. The sticky toffee pudding is on there, but it only comes with ice-cream and really needs custard. Overall, this isn’t a bad restaurant – the bar is great and the staff are always very engaging, with the service generally good. The food (and particularly the food presentation) standards and options do seem to have slipped a bit though – hopefully that is a temporary blip and that can be recovered. I wouldn’t recommend on the basis of this most recent meal though.

My partner and I went for an anniversary meal, two days before the birth of our baby so it was a pretty special meal for us. We were gifted a voucher at Christmas and we made staff aware we were using this at the time of booking. The staff from greeting us were great, so friendly and complimentary. The waiting on staff I could not fault. Their recommendations and knowledge was fantastic. My partner and I chose the Porterhouse T-Bone steak and the garlic butter sauce along with the Garlic King Prawns. It was hands down the best meal we've had. My partner and I like eating in nice restaurants and it was a fantastic meal 10/10 would wholeheartedly recommend. As mentioned we were using a gift voucher purchased as a gift, however we have both said that we would return again and happily pay full price for the meal. I loved it. I had always wanted to visit MPW Steakhouse since it opened and it absolutely matched up to my expectations, it was a great experience for an extra special occasion.

Visited here with my wife and son today (Easter Sunday) and the service was amazing. We were seated very quickly and the staff were on the ball at making us feel welcome and comfortable, as well as providing speedy service. For the first time in my dining experience, the waiter asked my wife and I if there was anything extra they could do for our 15-month old son and we were caught off guard by this as it was a first and surprisingly thoughtful. The food was nice - not amazing - but any faults in this department was made up for by the staff in their generosity and great service.

I ordered Tempura Prawns, they came with half the shell still on and not deveined, the whole prawn including the tail had been cooked in the batter, I thought the tail should be showing? We had a Sirloin Steak which had a marbling of fat running through it, my niece couldn't chew one bite that she didn't give up on. The waiter kept forgetting our drinks, I had to remind him on all our orders. The cleaning cloths/products were left on the table next to us & they starting setting out the breakfast tables as we were starting our dessert. Food not upto par, poor service therefor no tip and a bad review. Could do better Marco especially when we're paying £60 a head.

So this afternoon tea was booked via Red letter days so thankfully I did not pay full price as i don't even think it was even worth the price we did pay for it. Booked for 3:15 we were told there wouldn't be much of a wait for the food, which wasn't a priority as we had 2hrs take time, but were still waiting for over 30mins. We had a small table for two which shouldn't have been a problem, but they had run out of the sandwich stands (apparently they only had 4!!) so all our food was delivered on a wooden board and plates all at once which gave virtually no room on the table for us to comfortably eat. As for the food, we asked for no cucumber so they completely omitted the cream cheese sandwiches we should have had without it. The ham and mustard had so much mustard (see photo) you couldn't even taste the ham. They had run out of macaroons, not sure how you can run out when you know what bookings you have, but these were replaced with brownies, but not until we asked why we had none! The scones were nice but very small. It wasn't the amount of food (although the ratio of sweet to savoury in my opinion was far too high) but I have had far better afternoon teas elsewhere for less. Definitely felt like we were just paying for the name, and I think Marco Pierre should be appalled with this level of service.

Disappointed with the afternoon tea. Came to Liverpool specifically for this afternoon tea which was bought as a gift. When booking I requested early but was advised on the phone the best time to come to avoid a wait for food was 3:15 so that’s what we booked. Arrived at 3:10 was seated straight away and asked if we would like our Prosecco which we accepted. When the drinks arrived a few minutes later we were asked for any alterations to the menu. We asked for no horseradish and no cucumber in the sandwiches. We then waited 30 minutes for the food to arrive which was a little excessive. When it did come we were disappointed, no macaroons, they had run out, no cream cheese sandwiches, a mix up on their part they thought we’d asked for no cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches instead of just no cucumber in the sandwiches. The tea itself was served on a wooden breadboard instead of a cake stand which swamped the small table leaving not much room for plates or drinks. Then we inquired about the missing items and 10 minutes later we were brought brownies to replace the macaroons(not a favourite, I would have preferred the macaroons) and cream cheese sandwiches. However there was no room on the table to put this plate down so I had to lift them off and place them on the breadboard myself while the waiter held it. After all this and 45 minutes after we arrived we were asked if we would like tea or coffee, it arrived when the majority of the meal was finished. The food itself was ok but nothing startling, I don’t eat meat but my husband said the ham and mustard sandwiches had that much mustard you couldn’t taste anything else. The scones were nice but tiny. I was really looking forward to this treat, I do like an afternoon tea but this was probably the worst I’ve had and one of the most expensive. I guess you pay for the name but certainly don’t pay for quality or service.

After a wonderful experience at The English House in Singapore we were keen to try the same stable's restaurant in Liverpool on the occasion of visiting our University based grandson. It was very disappointing. Booking was extremely difficult. On the Wednesday before I attempted to book for a Sunday lunch. Got to the payment stage 4 times but either the Restaurant's booking computer or Mastercard was on the blink so could not confirm booking. Eventually rang the restaurant and was assured that having done this there was no problem and that there was a secure booking. The next day I received a note asking me to confirm my card details. The only trouble was I only read it an hour after I'd received it (I'm not glued to my PC) and I could also read that my booking had been cancelled. So I rang them again and was told not to worry my booking was confirmed. The next day the same thing happened so this time I booked through the booking system and bingo it worked this time. However I rang again to make sure I didn't have 5 reservations! I didn't but I did enquire as to why the Sunday Roasts option, offered on Wednesday, was now not offered. Told not to worry about it. Arrived Sunday and found there was no-one else in the restaurant and we were the sole bodies sitting down during the next two hours 1.15pm to 3.15pm. Ordered a bottle of red wine to be told it was not available (were we now going to get our own version of the Cheese Sketch(?)). No, but we did get a patronising talk on wine. Actually the wine we ended up with was OK and the highlight of the meal. However everything else was very moderate. The main course felt like a rapidly warmed up plate of food. With only 3 people in the restaurant it was obvious this had not been carved from a recently cooked and rested joint of beef: it was tough and difficult to cut. All in all a great disappointment. The serice was basic and and I think Marco Pierre needs to rethink his offering here.

I must add front of house were amazing as my feelings were heard as it was not a rant just something your restaurant needed to be aware of . Thank you

I very rarely if ever leave reviews on google or trip advisor but had to for this ‘meal’. Paid £90 a head to have Christmas Day lunch here and my particular choice of main lamb with dauphinoise potatoes was not only small in portion but the meat was like a tough leather boot, very chewy and fatty struggled to get my knife through it. The dauphinoise were like soggy hard potato sheets in a bland cream sauce. Again not something I usually do but I sent it back asking the waiter if the chef could cook the lamb medium rare instead, I was shocked to find him back at the table in less than 2 minutes time to tell me the chef said it is cooked exactly as it should be and you just need a sharper knife 😭 I don’t know if the chef was having a bad day that day or his ego couldn’t take having a customer send a plate back but I would never ever try this place again if that’s how they react. The only saving grace really was the waiter and manager were reasonable and nice enough when I complained knocked some money off the bill but didn’t change the fact I went without a main on Christmas Day as nothing else was offered to me in it’s place. We were a large party too and had a good sized upstairs table out the way for the kids not cramped, but again for any special occasion would not bother with this place at all if you’re after a decent meal.

We had a fabulous evening. Our waiter Pete was good fun and very knowledgeable. His recommendations were very helpful. The steaks were reasonably priced with a choice of weight. Cooked superbly. My Rib Eye was of excellent quality. Although city prices I felt, it was good value, and maybe had we not had wine at £40+ per bottle and a few other drinks, the final bill would not have been too mad!! Good quality food, beautifully cooked, and an extensive wine list. Highly Recommend.

I never write bad reviews on here but This was the worse experience I have ever had in a restaurant. The staff were so rude they just walked by not interested in raking an order. When we finally order they were unable to answer any question. Finally the manage came and she was just a rude. I left

Great steak dinner! Stayed in adjoining hotel recently (which was also great) and enjoyed a wonderful meal here with my girlfriend. Was expecting a lot of hype, given the celeb chef tag but it couldn't have been better and we both really enjoyed it. Food cooked, seasoned and presented perfectly. No quibbles whatsoever. Really lovely, friendly service too. Treat yourselves, you won't be disappointed.

Restaurant in hotel I was staying in so had dinner there on arrival. Was a large group of other guests in the bar so a bit noisy but main restaurant had a very sophisticated yet relaxed vibe. I got the summer set menu - not the best cut of beef but well flavoured and cooked nicely medium rare. Amazing chips!! And moreish spinach. Best thing about this place is service. Incredibly customer focused staff from welcome desk to wait staff. My waitress (I've completely forgotten her name!) was so apologetic I had to wait for dessert she gave a discount. The burnt cream dessert (basically a creme brulee) was well worth the wait! Incredibly good. Smooth and creamy with a perfect caramel top that cracked satisfyingly. Thoroughly recommend.

Today my friend and myself enjoyed the pleasure of an afternoon tea at Marco's inside the Indigo Hotel in Liverpool. It was wonderful. The sandwiches were freshly made with tasty fillings. The cakes were sumptuous, and the large scones were served hot with clotted cream. The unlimited fresh coffees and pig teas were lovely. The exemplary table service which we received from a young man called Joe, was second to none. He was friendly, polite, and kind, and nothing was too much trouble. He ensured that we were happy with our food and drinks, and repeatedly came to ask if there was anything further that we required. Our experience at Marco’s was memorable, and definitely a restaurant that we will return to in the future. If there was anything that could have been improved, it would have been the air conditioning. It was a warm day and a little too warm inside the restaurant. Overall I would recommend the great food, and the excellent customer service.

We went for afternoon tea without reservation, but they kindly found a table for us. The quantity of sandwiches was disproportionately less than the cakes and sweets, and the quality nothing special. The cakes menu was mentioning 4 different cakes, but we were given only two (two pieces each) and they were excessively sweet that we just tasted. The waiter was kind, but the table was not arranged properly.

Would give 0 if I could. My hen afternoon tea was ruined with the staff here. The way they spoke to my Mum was honestly awful. My Sister and Mum had been in a few days before to discuss things with the manager and to organise it all, as here was mine and my future husbands first date so here was meant to be meaningful. Yet on the day the manager wasn't present and no-one had a clue was was going on. My Sister has emailed a detailed complaint and has also had no response or apology. Disgusting. Avoid here.

Our afternoon tea was perfect, everything freshly prepared and served with passion and precision. We'll definitely return soon to try a different menu. Thank you to you all.

My first time at a TGI Friday, and my first time eating out at Speke Retail. Won't be doing either again after this visit. I came in with my mum and daughter on a Sunday afternoon after trying Zizzi's and getting told they were closing down due to lack of customers and barely had any ingredients. TGI's similarly had very few people dining despite a busy shopping park outside. The atmosphere inside was was grim. More staff than customers, and we still got poor service with long waits on our drinks and food. Rather than once checking on us, the management where running around having loud, obnoxious conversations with each other and some of the customers about operational issues affecting the business. Really bizarre. Then the food. Shockingly bad value for money. £20 for a bog standard burger and chips. £7 for a side of onion rings. None of it was that good either. Really average. These restaurants are under a lot of pressure due to overheads and inflation, I get it. But nobody is eating in them because they're just too expensive for what they are.
