My wife and I buy from this establishment on a regular basis and find them hard to beat, the quality of their products are second to none. Well done to all concerned

Just like to say how disappointed to find ouy for 3 weeks in a row at 8am that there are never any lonk saudages ready and that the slice sausage they give you is almost cold.Surely they could cook more at a time and have the stuff piping hot.Wont be back thats for sure

What more can you ask for from a local bakers? This place is clean, friendly service, reasonable prices and good quality food. The breakfast rolls served until 1330 were great quality and a real treat and highly recommended.

We have just left this bakery without ordered. I have been before and enjoyed the food so thought we would return however!!!! As we entered an elderly man spilled and entire coffee down himself and the floor. A waitress (about 30, light brown hair tied up) walked towards him, didn’t ask if he was ok and literally threw a t-towel onto the table (insinuating the man or his wife clean it). We sat down and the same women came over and asked us to “watch til I clean the table”. She then went to the next table and shouted “look at this mess, children are so messy”, as we sat with our children. Meanwhile she walked towards other waitresses, looked towards the elderly man and rolled her eyes. I asked the man if he was ok, he seemed quite shaken as the cafe was busy. We were in for about 9 minutes and I suggested the man may need help, although I was scowled at, before leaving. Another couple left soon afterwards without ordering. We spoke to them outside and they were also outraged at the manner to which-the waitress and staff behaved. I am so embarrassed that he was treated in such a way. The staff need training- or to be replaced

Awhhhh I love it here. It’s alwags packed out with students at lunch time, the amount of people inside show how good it is. If there is ever any rocky road going grab yourself a bit it’s my sugar kick for my after lunch double periods. Fab little bakers. Fab prices. In almost everyday. Love it xxxxx

In addition to bread, cakes etc this splendid bakers do hot filled rolls etc. They also do rather good pies and, as a 68 year old Scot who has eaten rather a lot of them over the years, I can safely say that the Scotch pies here as as good as they come.

If you ant to know how good a baker is you just have to look and see how busy they are! Today they seemed rushed off their feet but still served us coffee and doughnuts with a smile. Absolutely beautiful food and nice coffee. We then bought sausage rolls for lunch to take out. Lovely to find a real independent baker for a change.

On Monday 14/05/18 Went to the marchbank bakers cafe in Castle Douglas what a big let down on the day I went. The waiting time was 20 mins before we get served its a busy takeaway as well so get more staff. I had bridie and fries as couldn't call them chips. Bridie was way overcooked to state it was a joke. My dad and friend had the Mac/cheese with fries. Sauce bit runny not enough seasoning. Why serve those god awful chips they taste awful. Stop cooking your pies etc alday then serving them ,replenish them throughout the day. Tea was good coffee was weak and tasteless I,m to,d by dad. Your staff work well and hard but three staff it's ridiculous get couple more in especially at lunchtime.

We stayed for two weeks in Dumfries. Went to High Street the first morning and firstly, love the street! Just great (although I didn't understand that it was Pedestrian only so, that explains the looks when I drove to the bakery!). Marchbanks there, the one near the Costa toward the bottom of the street and mall was just great! The two ladies that we included in our photo were so patient and kind and, as a result of the great, really great cakes and pies, we came back most mornings of our stay! Prices were great and the selection was excellent! Could not have been a better local bakery shop than what we found here. Thanks for many delicious breakfasts and snacks! Tom and Brooke and the family!

We called into Lockerbie and found this bakers on the high street, my wife had a ham salad baton and said it was good but I had a scotch pie and this was beautiful, very good pastry and really tasty filling, certainly one of the best I've ever had.

We rather enjoyed our Scotch pie, tuna roll (even without egg in the salad) and iced yum yum for lunch. We fancied something local to eat and this bakery produced the goods.

Breakfast seemed a fair price, but on arrival left a bit to be desired. Grilled tomatoes were warmed only and the sausage was small considering it was the only one on the plate.

Gerard McGonigle. My wife and I stayed in this hotel in September this year( 2024) and were delighted with the place. We could not understand how it ever received bad reviews. The staff were always pleasant and included in the very affordable price was a full Scottish breakfast.I’d have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Sincerely, Mr.&Mrs.McGonigle.

Sorry this review is late but can I say we stopped off to watch the play off final( national league England) and we were made to feel so welcome by the lad behind the bar whose name I'm embarrassed to say I cant remember. I must say the locals on the day were fabulous and were fellow Poolies by the end! As far as the place itself it's a proper pub, clean ,good beer good craic and very very freindly atmosphere if ever we go back over that way it will definitely be a place to visit
