Extremely disappointing! Arrived at the venue to be met at the door, asked for a table for 4, given a choice of 3 tables. Was told by the waitress she'd be back to take drink orders; 15 mins later she took a drinks order and said she would return to take our food order. Drinks arrived, and in some unorganised manner, cups & saucers were placed randomly on the table, with the male waiter handing out a biscuit and teaspoon, by standing at one end of the table and almost 'throwing' the items to each person, rather than setting up the table correctly. There was a further table of 4 people arrived after us, had food order taken and still we waited. Finally having to go to the counter to remind the staff we wanted to order food, I was abruptly told 'I'll come to your table to take the order'. We waited a further 10 minutes. Having put in an order for 2 fish & chips and 2 meat pies & chips, we waited another 30 minutes before the waitress told us there was only 1 pie left, so what else did we want instead - opted for another fish & chips. Waited a further 30 mins when 2 fish & 'skinny fries' meals arrived at the table. The fries and peas were cold. 10 mins later the last 2 meals arrived .... fries and peas were cold, fish was watery and the pie filling was extremely dry. We were so hungry by this point we did our best to eat the meals, but they were awful! Not once did either of the staff ask us how I meal was; but when paying the extortionate bill by card, there was an option on the card machine to leave a percentage tip! Absolutely not!! It's a shame there is very little attention to detail given by the staff. Perhaps they need to employ a chef who knows what they are doing, and they all need to complete some training in hospitality. We certainly won't be returning to this venue, and won't be recommending it to others. Disappointing through and through!

We had just arrived in Market Rasen mid afternoon and were looking for a little light refreshment before completing our journey and we came across this establishment. We were met at the door by a member of staff who was friendly and attentive and got us seated and comfortable. The menu covers most options, but we just had coffee and cake. The coffee and tea excellent and the cake was really lovely, freshly cut, moist and full of fruit. The place is comfortable and popular, the staff are really nice and friendly and professional. if you are in the area give it a try.

An enormous thank you to all the staff at the March Hare who hosted our son’s christening party. The staff ensured whole thing went so smoothly, from planning the event to setting up the venue - even incorporating our decorations for us. We had so many compliments from the guests saying what a great venue it was. The food too was exceptional, everyone we spoke to said that they had never had a buffet so nice, it absolutely blew our expectations away for the price. Thank you again to the March Hare for making it an unforgettable day. If you need a venue in the Market Rasen area then I cannot recommend highly enough!

We was passing through and decided to stop for a breakfast. Waited ages. Lukewarm beans. Undercooked tomato. Undercooked snotty egg. Mushrooms still raw in middle and swimming in oil. Cheap dry black pudding and really really dry bacon. Even the quality sausage was hard and dry and we weren't checked to see if eventing was OK. If you're gonna do a posh pretentious breakfast for a tenner, at least get the basics right first. The restaurant was freezing and the staff had full blown loud conversations over the tops of tables from one side of the restaurant to the other. When we'd finished no one ever came to clear our plates despite there being plenty of staff, especially one that was solely cleaning tables around us. So again we weren't asked if everything was OK and if we wanted anything else like another coffee and cake, which we might have if it hadn't have been so cold in there. To be honest i couldn't wait to leave. Keep driving. Edited -To the businesses reply that's trying to insinuate i only leave negative reviews and that I probably never even ate here - I've left over 100 reviews, most of which are positive, but I've never posted photos on reviews, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. I took one on this occasion but didn't post it, but as you're saying i wasn't even there, here it is. As you can see, snotty egg and raw mushroom and tomato. Unfortunately you can't see the cold beans, cold room or unprofessional staff.

Been for brunch today. What’s happened to customer service?! Waited be seated to be greeted by someone shouting across the restaurant “table for two?” In response to our “yes please” we received “sit anywhere set for two people only”. Barely sat down when we were asked what we’d like to order. Asked for more time but gave the waitress our drinks order. Then waited… and waited for her return. Fast forward… food came. I had the pancakes with breakfast. I asked for the bacon to be well done. It wasn’t. The pancakes were cold and the fried egg was hard and cold. No one came to ask how our meal was and I couldn’t get anyone’s attention to raise my issue so I just ate it. Still not a smile or any level of customer service in sight. Didn’t clear our table despite waiting 15mins so we decided we’d get our cakes from cooplands across the road instead of having some there. My husband went to the counter to pay and the payment system asks you for a tip. Had to be shown how to decline leaving a tip. Needless to say we won’t be returning and won’t be recommending to anyone/

Terrible service. The waitress said we could only have a full English because the brunch menu doesn't start until 12pm. I pointed out that there was a breakfast wrap on the brunch menu, which I wanted for breakfast. She gave in and we waited nearly an hour for food which was inedible. The wrap hadn't been toasted and was doughy, they forgot the egg and overcooked the sausage. My sister's pancakes were so anaemic she couldn't eat them. We sent it back and left. Needless to say, we won't be back! We visited in July 2024

Service was very slow and very unwelcoming, service with a smile is not existent, apart from when you go to the counter to pay the bill. Took almost 20 mins to take the order, another 20 for them to let me know that they had no fish left, when the food came part of the order was missing (which was questioned, but no update given, was simply ignored). Food, once it eventually came was bland and boring, tasted better from a jar.

Passing through Market Rasen on our journey. Looked on Google for a good place to eat and found a recommendation for the March Hare in the centre of the town. The restaurant was less than half full and as we waited to be seated, the two of us identified our preference for a table for four, away from the noisy main road through the town, which was one of several available. Our server directed us to a table for two next to the large roadside wide windows. OK, first impressions on our first visit are not good. Our server asked what drinks we wanted and we hadn't seen what was on offer, so the server said she would give us a moment to decide. 20 minutes later we were ready to leave but the server came back and we chose our drinks and gave our order for two Philly Cheese Steaks. The drinks came in reasonable time and waited and waited. The manager came to the table of two next to ours, where one meal had been delivered and the other guest was waiting, and informed they could not make the other meal because a supplier of meat had not fulfilled an order. The guest without food decided he didn't want to order anything else - their friend had almost finished their meal. They left and we waited and waited. We were again about to leave when the manager came and told us she apologised for the long wait and our meals would be free -we need only pay for our drinks. She was clearly upset and agitated. Our meals duly arrived. Inside each bread bun were two small chunks of cube steak covered in layers of onion chutney, a few slices of raw pepper and a little uncooked, shredded cheese. The steak mainly contained gristle and fat. Philadelphia is not the only place to have a proper Philly Cheese Steak but don't have one here! We could not eat the meal which was really an 'onion chutney sandwich'. We paid for our drinks and left.

We organised a family party on a Saturday evening at The March Hare in Market Rasen. The evening was a fabulous success, during the planning we were given options for food, room layout, timings. The staff on the evening were wonderful, attentive, cheerful and couldn’t do enough for us. We were a relatively small group at 34 people and I know they can accommodate more if required. We had a wonderful evening and would certainly use again. Big shout out to the chef who provided a truly excellent buffet, Katie who was on hand to ensure everything went smoothly and the rest of the team for making sure we had a great time. Visited this afternoon and not the best experience. Ordered Cafetiere of coffee with cream plus eggs benedict. Coffee served with milk not cream. Cafetiere was defective with wobbly handle, lid applied wrong way round so didn't pour correctly and filter screen defective so coffee grounds passed by into coffee. Brought to attention of waitress who replaced . Had exactly same issue with replacement hence coffee was vile and undrinkable. No ham available for eggs benedict but offered bacon instead which I accepted. When served it was just " warm" and muffin way under toasted. Far to much sauce drowned the dish. At checkout coffee removed from bill. Come on March Hare you can do better than this.

I visited the march hare today with a friend and ordered the ham, egg and chips. When the food arrived the ham was a grey and brown colour. I didn't eat it. I tried a peice and it tasted off it really tasted discusting. No doubt it had gone off. I complained to the server who spoke to the chef who then told me it wasn't off and that's the colour it goes. I'm no chef but I know the colour/smell and taste of meat when it's gone off. They also still expected full payment for the meal until i pointed out that I only had a handful of chips and an egg. Not worth the £12 they was asking! Will not be returning. Could of made myself and others very poorly. Quite concerning if they can't tell when the meats gone bad!!

My friend and I went to the March Hare recently and left disappointed and hungry. I ordered a Caesar salad, and right off the bat it costs £2 extra to add chicken pieces, which I feel is ridiculous for a salad that most places serve with chicken. I had mine without bacon and what arrived was a bowl of lettuce with less than 3 anchovies and a small drizzle of dressing, no croutons and no lemon, that was supposed to be with my meal. We ordered a bowl of chips to share, for £3.50 , and what arrived was a small portion of soggy, presumably oven-cooked chips. The meal as a whole cost me £15.70 which was not justifiable to what I had been given as they did not remove the bacon from the bill, and I left hungry- and only had tap water to drink, so it was £15.70 for essentially bowl of lettuce and half a portion of chips. In comparison to other reviews, the service has gotten quicker and we had more attention from staff than we have had previously.

Overpriced. Avoid. Make use the other two cafés in the town. Central Market Rasen location with poor parking. If you do manage to get parked, and enter this venue; you'll be shouted at which table to take despite standing at the "please wait to be seated sign". Upon sitting yourself, you'll be provided with a menu, and that menu will be (and is) confused. Is this a cafe? Is it a restaurant? Spotted the Steak Sandwich, scanned further to find it was lacking the standard chips. Throw chips and drink on top, we're at £20! No thanks, that's evening meal territory... No table service, had to go up to the counter. Drinks arrived , was told glass was 'half full' due to coming from the can. £2.00 service charge then...cake was edible..not Tealby Tea Room standard. We discussed if we'd return to this place before leaving, the answer was No. Other places next time..

Only then did they show any interest in serving us. Won't ever, ever be back. To the owners - if you employ kids, you need an adult there to coordinate them. The 3 meals ordered were one poached egg (well done) on brown with mushrooms - arrived on white. Another meal was poached eggs on soda bread -arrived on brown. A quick swop around sorted that. But the white toast was wet and the eggs on the other meal had a large piece of egg shell in. The soup/sandwich was disappointing. Soup was cold the sandwhich consisted of two rounds of dry cold toast with sliced cheese. Very dry and cold. When I arrived at 10:50 they still had not been served. We were served at 11am. After we ordered we waited for another 20mins and still no drinks. My mum enquired and was rudely told by a waitress that she was clearing tables not doing drinks. The food arrived before the drinks. We ordered eggs benidict and the eggs were hard. Me and my sister were fine with it but my mum sent it back and enquired about the drinks again. Are drinks arrived with an apology for the wait. They did remake my mum's eggs to. On the way to the toilet though I heard the waitress and lady doing drinks moaning about our table. I didn't tell my mum this. The food did taste nice but the service is terrible. My mum was a bit abrupt (she isnt very well at the moment and diabetic so needed food) but it is expensive here and so you would expect to be treated better. We wont be hurrying back.

My little girl has an egg allergy and whilst they didn't have a lot of choice of egg-free options on the children's menu, they offered to make anything from the main menu at half portion and price, so very accommodating. Drinks wise, the coffee is one of the nicest I've had for a while, and the family loved the milkshake choices. Be sure to try out the March Hare if you're in the area. Thank you, March Hare, for making our visit one to remember.

A very nice place to eat. Food is amazing. The menu could do with being a slight bit larger but I understand it’s only a small place. It is the only place in Rasen where I’ve not been let down for food so would 100% recommend trying here first as they don’t disappoint.

Just returned from a trip to Market Rasen. Had a lovely breakfast, and it was hot, not like some other places i have been too recently and my wife really enjoyed her eggs benedict. It was nice to see the staff inter reacting with the customers. Would recommend it, dog friendly, could get busy at lunch times, so i suggest you may need to book or take pot luck.

Very disappointed, sadly We have eaten at this establishment many times over the last year, we love the food, atmosphere and staff are very friendly but on Friday this week we popped in for lunch but a 3/4 of an hour wait for Welsh Rabbit (hope spelt right) was not acceptable. We had to leave hungry as we had an appointment to go to later on that afternoon and did not want to have to rush eating if the meal did eventually arrive. Also, our tea cups were not properly clean, we had them changed but mine was replaced by another dirty cup! I have to stress, though we were very disappointed with the lack of our meals, the staff member serving us was polite, friendly and very apologetic and we are sure the food, had it arrived, would have been delicious but the wait was not acceptable. Does the kitchen need extra staff member to help because reading other reviews our experience this week seems to be the same as others?

Missed my order waited over 40 mins to be told they forgot my food so I was left with with only a cup of tea. Then the final insult came when I went to pay they wanted to charge me for the food they didn’t even make Run by kids that don’t have a clue what they are doing Wont be coming back after been going at least 10 times there’s always something wrong

Good location in the centre of Market Rasen with easy parking close by. It is very popular and because of that the service can be slow, we would have had to wait over 30 mins for food if we had opted for it.. The coffee wasn't the best and the cakes are pre cut, so be sure to check before you order to ensure you get value for money.

Visited for the first time as it has a good customer rating and was full at the time we walked past. We ordered a bowl and soup and toastie. 30 minutes after ordering we still had not been served, on enquiring, we were told it would be another 30 minutes! An hour for soup and a toastie is ridiculous, so we cancelled and left. I can't comment on the quality of the food, but the tables on either side of us had already been waiting for an hour and still not been served with their meals. I have to assume they were having a bad day in the kitchen as I can believe the place could be so highly rated if this is typical of the service. Update......after a quick and courteous apology we will be giving it another try next month

This is our favorite cafe in Lincolnshire. We travel half an hour to go here. Most cafes do full English or variations of (nothing wrong with that) This place cooks some amazing food. Green eggs and ham, Eggs Shakshuka are a couple of my favorites, well worth a visit, it's always fairly busy, the staff are amazing and it's beautifully decorated.

Usually very happy with coffee an cake but today decided to have breakfast. Ordered coffee, breakfast and cake. And sat and waited, and waited and waited. When I ask if our order would be out soon as the couple next to us had come in after us and had their food. I was told there was a back log. So waited a bit longer. Then more food came out for people who had come in well after us. So asked again , to be told they had run out of muffins and that someone was to get some. But people who had ordered after us had muffins. Gave up and left 45 minutes after arrived. Just be honest folks. You lost our order. Could have offered us a free coffee while we waited for our order to be done and would have been happy. I work in retail that has a café. If someone had just let us know what was going on instead of letting us sit there. It was only when we had asked twice for our food that this issue arose. When I challenged the fact I was told they only just realised.

Need to get the fundamentals right, the coffee quality and making was poor. The speed is far to slow and the service in general average. The pastry I bought was also stale. Oh dear.

It’s ok here, nothing special, the farm shop is small and very overpriced. The food nothing special, the toilets absolutely stunk and didn’t look very clean. The kids play area is quite good.

We visited The Ugly Duckling at Caistor Lakes on Sunday and although it was very busy, we were not left disappointed. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The food came out and it was delicious. We asked for some vegetables which was no problem for the staff in the kitchen and front of house. What a lovely place. We will definitely be back 🙂
