Standard chain pub. Staff are friendly, always clean, food is good. Better than some chains, but it's what you'd expect. Always a good quiz on a Tuessay.

Great food this time since new landlord came sorry to say the last landlord not that good on the food side ice enough as a landlord but food went down don't know why but sad to say had two meals not happy with both

Decent food, lovely staff and family orientated.

I've attended several times, and the quality of food and service has remained high. You don't wait long to get seated or to get served at the bar. You can sit outside or inside with a lot of window seat options. What stands out most has always been the level of seevice provided by the staff.

Quick treat for my son.. pizza and chocolate fudge cake

Popped in for some food after picking my partner up from work. Greeted by Luke Hudson, very happy bubbly character, really went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Food was brought out by John the manager, he asked if there was anything extra we needed. He remembered I'd asked about extra dressing for my salad before and went the extra mile to check I was happy with it or if I needed more. 5 stars for being made to feel like a valued customer.

The food was good as was service from.staff. Downside to us was at 8pm when the Paddy Mcguniess Quiz started so loud you could not talk to each other at your table we don't go on Tuesdsy due quiz night and now this has started on Thursdsy! Very loud, I don't think anyone was playing along. Staff did turn it down for a while when we asked, which we were very grateful for. But after a while, it came back as loud. Some people just want to eat out in peace after a long day at work. Has put me off going on Thursday now. So with quizz night Tuesday and this Thursday our nights we can go to march hare are bee cut. W 3 of us and with drinks normally spend over £100

Really great experience it was my daughter's birthday and this was where she wanted to go for her birthday present, we all had a great time thanks to the staff sorry didn't get names but you know who you are, thanks again to the manager who was very attentive

A lovely cosy pub and restaurant with a brilliant vibe and relaxing atmosphere. Food was served in good time, absolutely delicious as well. Drinks were amazing and altogether a very pleasant evening.

Food fair priced and good, fast friendly service

A fantastic evening celebrating my daughter’s 18th Birthday, made special by the staff who were welcoming friendly and attentive. A very special shout out to the lady who always sings and goes the extra mile for her customers. She is a delight to be around and she makes you feel like a part of the march hare family. She’s easily the reason we come back time and time again and she deserves a huge amount of recognition and praise. Nothing is ever too much for her - she is an absolute delight to be around. She is the short lady there who has dark curly hair, i think her name is Louise, please pass on our thanks for her care, our whole dining party left with a smile on our faces thanks to her. We will absolutely be back!

Great place to go also there is a part you can take your dogs

Mini chedder (louise) is a total bundle of fun with the most infectious personality. Definitely a reason to come back again.

The March Hare pub is in St Helen Tindale retail park, Bishop Auckland. Customer service is spot on. Food wasn't. I had the Hunters chicken baguette & my hubby had vegetarian sausages in baguette. I left majority of my baguette roll. The bacon & cheese was overdone. The onion rings overdone too. The vegetarian sausages tasted ok. Cost £18.87 £7 for 2 pint Pepsi. Nice relaxed atmosphere in the pub. Lots of parking. Has disabled parking bays. Lot of outside seating area.

Came on Thursday for the steak& drink offer only to be told they had no steaks or mixed grills left. This was at 19.00 place was really busy and only one member of staff serving on the till. Then informed it would take an hour for the food. What a joke and other tables had been complaining of the quality of the food been served.

Lovely clean pub, quick friendly service, tasty steak pie.

We booked a table for 6ppl for our sons 18th. On arrival we were shown to our table. We had to go find a high chair although I had put on the booking We would require one. We ordered through the QR code. Drinks order went through fine but I had to reorder our food at the bar as we had a problem with the discou t voucher. The server at the bar was lovely and helpful. Food came quite quickly but we were missing a side of roast potatoes. We asked the server about this which he went to see. He came back with one potatoe on a plate and said they had ran out. It was our sons birthday so we wernt going to question or make a fuss. We paid for the side but never got it which was a shame. We had gave a cake to the staff on arrival for after, we sat for half an hour after finishing our food and nobody came over to collect plates or ask if we wanted the cake. We then asked if we came take the cake home. Lovely food just a shame about lack of service. The roast was a little disappointing with the lack of vegetables and the missing paid side.

Lovely and friendly staff, food was really good with a great range of food to choose from. Tables and Pub was very clean and tidy.

Our visit was very pleasant, our drinks were refreshing and our food was lovely. We had meat lovers pizza and a portion of chips. Our little girl loves the little play area inside

We visit here most Saturdays for our meal and ALWAYS enjoy it as it's good food and good service every time. As we visit regularly, certain parts of our food order are fairly constant and the kitchen/waiting staff can usually tell when our order arrives. Today's visit (12/4/25) was one such occasion where the customer service really shone through. Ethan, who often brings us our food realised that the order sent through had a change to what is usually a constant with the order, so actually MADE the time to come out to speak to us, to double check that we hadn't ordered in error, and that the order had been inputted correctly at the point of the order. Most people would not have gone to such lengths and just assumed it was correct (which it was) regardless. Always great service but as a group we like to see EXCEPTIONAL service recognised. 5 stars for the place, 7 out of 5 stars for Ethan today. I hope that the management seems this post and he receives the recognition he deserves.

John and Clare (I asked their names) make The March Hare what it is! The food is always excellent, the premises are spotless (they weren’t always) and the service is second to none as nothing is too much trouble. We love coming here!

We went to The March Hare for the children's fancy dress disco. It had been years since my last visit but I was really impressed. The disco was brilliant, the girls doing it were amazing with the kids and really engaged them. The manager got in amongst the fun too, dressing as a minion and spending two hours out dancing with the kids and playing tricks on the adults. After the disco we had a meal. The portions were excellent, food was delicious and they came out quick and hot. The price was really reasonable too. I can't wait to go back.

Lovely family orientated restaurant. We went for a Sunday lunch with our 18 month old and my parents, my mum is in a wheelchair and the staff were extremely kind and attentive towards her, even offered us a larger table for her to fit her chair underneath. Staff were brilliant, the food was delicious and all reasonable priced. We will definitely be returning. Also very dog friendly.

Mothers lunch with family Lovely

Our server Louise went above and beyond a genuinely lovely woman, friendly and honest and a great sense of humour, our order had been forgotten about due to another servers error and she couldn't do enough to sort out the problem, including complementary drinks for our table, also checking in to make sure everything was ok once our food arrived at our table.

Called this afternoon for the childrens fancy dress disco, it was amazing!!!! The new manager John Nicholson went all out even joining in the fun and games with the children dressed as a minion which everyone loved, then personally thanked all families for coming. The staff and service are excellent. The food is reasonably priced and excellent quality, the kids meals are by far great value as portions are sized according to age/appetite. We will definitely return!

I would recommend the prawn salad. Lots of choice for even fussy eaters!

First visit,decor inside could do with brightening up, looks drab and tobacco coloured walls and curtains. Food was good would recommend the mixed grill and rump steak and chips.

Came for Christmas day dinner. Food was faultless, very tasty and just enough without being wasteful. Service was amazing, so fluid, so helpful and all the staff remained upbeat and smiling throughout, which on a bit at day like Christmas day, must have took some doing, but credit to everyone. I even managed to secure some turkey for my dog (Loki). Who I left at home, but promised him his own Christmas dinner, which he thoroughly enjoyed too. We are March Hare regulars, but will certainly rebook for next Christmas Well done and congratulations to all..

Loverly place & very friendly staff was quite when I went in so said just find a seat & if you wish order at bar take seat no or use the QR code I used bar & staff were very helpful meal was loverly & I only waited bout 20mins food was very good I used a voucher but I'll defo be back

Here’s your improved review with a more balanced tone: --- We visited as a family and accidentally ordered the "Ultimate Chicken Burger Meal – Light," which was the same price as the regular version but came without a bun. When I asked to switch, my server had to check with three different managers. The first two wanted to charge extra just for a bun, which seemed unreasonable. Thankfully, our server persisted and eventually found a manager who simply refunded the meal and placed the correct order. On the bright side, the Ultimate Chicken Burger was amazing! However, the pizza and kids' menu were a real disappointment—honestly, a Tesco own-brand pizza would have been better. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, but the great service from our waiter made up for some of the frustration.

Had lunch here with five friends and three dogs a couple of days ago - they could not have been more welcoming, brought out bowls of water for the dogs, pretty much went through the menu with us, absolutely fabulous, impossible to fault

Came for Sunday dinner and it was perfect. Pub was busy so had a lovely atmosphere. Staff were friendly and served us quickly. Small wait for food but it was understandable when it was busy. What's the rush when you come out for dinner. We will be back.

Service very good, staff excellent, polite and cheerful. Food choice varied arrived quickly, was hot and well prepared, only downside was price a little on the expensive side.

The Ultimate Spicy Beef Burger is the best burger from any restaurant. There's just something about it, trust me I've had a lot of different burgers from a lot of different places and it's the best.

This pub is welcoming from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food was brought to our table in an impressively short amount of time and it was delicious. The chips that my wife had were some of the best I’ve tasted in a long time. I ordered a curry and it was served with both poppadoms and naan bread. I’m used to having one or the other but having both was like hitting the curry jackpot. The pub is dog friendly and has plenty of parking in a good quality car park.

It said we could eat in and order from the table, no signs said otherwise and now they've lost custom. I legit feel like I'm living in the twilight zone, two places we've been to tonight that both do food and neither are doing food. We followed the instructions on the app and were told we'd be refunded. Oh dear. 😅🙃

I had burger and salad and it was beautiful. Son had fish and chips and enjoyed it. Hubby had mixed grill and asked for medium steak but couldn’t eat it as it was more medium well. Great atmosphere, staff were lovely and a big shout out to Ethan for our table service and being all round lovely

I last went more then 10 years ago it was that awful i said i would never go again so i thought i would pop in on the off chance it had improved and boy had it service was great food was better than great will go again

Terrible. Parts of menu not available due to broken grill. All steaks etc. Food took over an hour despite being simple and the place being quiet (less than 20% capacity) Had to chase food and was told three staff hadn’t turned up. Food arrived luke warm. Fish and chips were stone cold so that had to be remade which took another 15 mins. For £60 this was terrible value for money. Food quality was mediocre.

Christmas Day lunch was lovely, we will be booking again next year.

Waited an hour for meal to come. Natchos were horrible. Hardly any cheese on, very dry and sour cream was rank.

Had the mixed grill, meat done to perfection, just as requested, a good full meal, plenty of it, good value food.

Visited the March Hare a couple of days ago for lunch very enjoyable experience great service lovely proper cooked food and it was nice when staff can be bothered to come to our table and check if our meals were ok highly recommend this place its so much better than the White Heifer that traveled in Darlington will definitely be back again a big thanks to the staff .

We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were wonderful and made our lunch very special. the pub was very clean and very well managed and the food was perfect and beer was just as good. we will come here again and we have booked christmas lunch here now as well .
