Maray - Manchester in Manchester

We had a booking for 4 people on a Tuesday night and it was already lively inside. The place was nicely decorated and had a positive atmosphere. I noticed there weren’t any tables near the bathroom which is great. All three of the servers we had were very pleasant and funny! The person who took our orders was willing to talk me through the different options in terms of how each dish was prepared as I wanted something lower in calories and there wasn’t a calorie menu available. Our food came out fairly swiftly and we were warned that they’ll come out at different times as common with mezze dining. The vegan options were just as tasty as the veggie and meat dishes. All came out presented beautifully and at good temperatures. There was no salt or pepper on the table but the food was seasoned well so no need for it personally. We were checked up on and offered more drinks. At the end, my friend wanted a to-go box and they had some. The dishes ranged from £6 to £15 ish and so we all paid around £30 including drinks and tips.

Always delicious food and friendly staff!

Small issue that led to our order being forgotten but they were open and honest about it and they made up for the fact. Our server Dean was great, kept us informed and we had a lovely meal. We'll be back

This is some of the best food I've had in Manchester. Absolutely delicious and I'll definitely be going back. Reasonably priced too considering the location. Only thing that could be improved would be for the tables to be a bit wider to fit all the dishes and for more sound insulation on the ceiling as it's a bit too noisy.

Amazing food, amazing drinks, amazing service! Came during the January 50% off food deal and greedily ordered most of the vegan tapas available - all of which was gorgeous. The cauliflower, oyster mushrooms, and falafel were highlights - even tho I usually find falafel overdone. The fig negroni was lovely, and we had orange wine with our mains. We had the amaro digestif to finish, which was a lovely finish to an overindulgent, but budget friendly, evening.

Went with colleagues from London last night after booking a table via telephone. I did amend the amount of people via the WhatsApp service. Upon arrival the host was incredibly rude and stand offish and gave the group a dirty look. I explained that I had a booking and she asked to see a confirmation, showed her my phone and she rolled her eyes. We sat at the raised section and were told that we could have a table in 30 mins (despite me showing the phone with my booking information…)so we went to a bar next door and came back. Upon entry the second time, the staff were so lovely and welcoming! Our waiter was a delight and the food was phenomenal! We had a really great time just a shame that the initial welcome was somewhat lukewarm to say the least.

Came for the first time and had a really lovely meal. Our server Dean was great! Food was fab. Our favourites were the oyster mushroom shawarma and falafel sharer.

We stayed at Manchester for the weekend and wanted somewhere new to try as we visited from South Wales, and we are so happy that we found Maray! Straight away we were made to feel welcome by incredibly friendly staff, who explained the menu to us and recommended how many dishes to eat etc. We ordered 8 dishes between us, and they were all super tasty and fresh!! They were all packed with so much flavour and were inventive dishes. Super pleased that we visited and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Manchester!

Overall a good experience. Really friendly greeting on arrival. Seated immediately and given water. The menu was fully explained. Service throughout was wonderful. The decor of the restaurant was nice and tables well spaced so you had a lot of room. The food was nice however there were a few dishes not to my taste. The chocolate ganache was not like any other I have tasted, more like a chocolate sauce that had been thickened with cornflour. The price point was reasonable. I wouldn’t rule out visiting again but might not be top of my list.

Tina was phenomenal!! So warm and gorgeous, food was UNREAL as well!

Been a couple of times recently to make the most of the 50% off vegan food during January. Food is brilliant, very fresh and very tasty. Served by the wonderful Jools both times too. He is one of the nicest people you can come across. Incredible at looking after you. He’s a credit to Maray and will go far :) big up Jools!

We visited Maray recently for my sisters birthday and it met every expectation, we had one gluten free diner and one vegan and they were catered too beautifully - my favourite was the mushroom shawarma and the braised carrot dish was a firm favourite, definitely definitely start with hummus and pitta! The star of the show had to be the person that served us, Tina was incredible, very attentive and made sure to reassure our gf diner when she was a little nervous - 10000/10 one of the best dining experiences I’ve had a while! Thank you Maray and thank you Tina ♥️

Can't recommend this place enough....fantastic food...great portions and SO tasty. AND... we had the loveliest server/waitress ever in Tina who was incredibly helpful, warm and professional. There really aren't enough superlatives for the whole experience. (And we are fairly discriminating restaurant goers!)

Visited as a duo on a Friday night. Delicious food, delivered as it was ready, perfect for sharing. I especially recommend the goats cheese, carrots, falafel and cod loin. Excellent service from Tina and other staff, we didn't feel rushed. Innovative payment system allows splitting the bill, equally or by which dishes you ordered (though we shared everything).

Amazing food. Disco cauliflower was 10/10 as was the lamb. The sangria and spicy margarita were both amazing as well. Great service and atmosphere. We’ll be back!!

My visit to Maray was brilliant and I genuinely can’t fault anything. The food was some of the best flavour / texture combinations I’ve ever tasted. I’m obsessed with the hummus and the seabass dish. The pricing for the quality and portion size is brilliant - there’s so many restaurants where I’ve paid much more money for mediocre quality. I also love the vibe and decor of the restaurant. Our waitress was very accommodating, she gave us some great recommendations! And the guy on the door was also very lovely too! Overall I had an amazing experience 😊

Visited with my sister for lunch yesterday. Such a lovely welcome from the staff who were all friendly , knowledgable and genuinely appear to love working at Maray. The food was amazing , every dish that came was as good as the last. Couldn’t fault anything about Maray. It’s rare that a restaurant gets everything right , in fact 3 days later we went back again……I want to try everything on the menu. Looking forward to coming back and wish we had a Maray in London.

There’s something a bit special about Maray. It’s not just on point - but ahead of the game - for the small, creative plates but packed with skilled flavours and cooking vibe. It manages fun, friendly and unhurried, timely service even for single diners amidst the Xmas group bookings frenzy. It’s welcoming at all times (well, both times I went inc during mid afternoon autumn quiet zone) and it stands up as a quality restaurant with strong wine and cocktail game as much as a warm and welcoming indie feel. Value is great. Servicenis terrific. Cooking is special. Smart, enticing, varied menu. One to return to, again and again.

Great small plates with a limited menu, everything is thought out and well presented. The cauliflower and mezze sharer (especially the goats cheese) are top tier Service is some of the best/friendliest I’ve experienced in Manchester.

We went to eat there while visiting Manchester. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We tried the menu from which you can choose three courses for £19. We tried six different options, all of them very good. In addition, most of the dishes were gluten-free and those that were not were adapted to be suitable for celiacs. The staff was very very friendly, even recommending what to visit after the meal. If this restaurant were in my city, I would come frequently.

I recently visited for the first time, and was so blown away! The food was amazing, everything was so flavoursome, we got so many different dishes to try. The highlight was the date bread and butter pudding. It was soo good! Every interaction we had with the staff was so lovely. Particularly our waiter, a tall man with short brown hair, he was so attentive and so lovely! Everything about our evening was perfect, can’t recommend enough!

Went for Sunday lunch with one of my daughters and we really enjoyed. We shared the sirloin of beef cooked pink which was amazing and so tender and also saffron roasted chicken which was both moist and delicious. Served with four large tasty roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and a mixture of vegetables.The braised red cabbage was outstanding. For desert we had the cheesecake and a very rich chocolate Ganache with Biscoff crumbs and cherries. The food was outstanding and our waiter Dean was excellent. Well worth a second visit.

Big group of us went for a Christmas meal, the portions are generous, the food is delicious and the service was great, what more can you ask for

My new favourite restaurant in Manchester… as a lone diner, staff were amazing, food exceptional, and I recommend the fig negroni!

I was here as part of a large group and had the Christmas set menu, every item was fantastic , great flavours and beautifully presented. All staff were very cheerful and helpful. Highly recommended.

I've been twice and will definitely return. The service on the first occasion was better. I think as it was a Monday night for the second trip and we were in the quieter section of the restaurant it was very hard to attract attention to order more drinks etc (there's a partition along the bench seating) but when they did come to the table the staff were lovely. Definitely something Maray team should be aware of for weeknights but it wouldn't stop me returning. However, on both occasions the food was excellent. Mushrooms were a tad too oily but everything else was amazing. Best falafel of my life. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. They also did an AMAZING alcohol free amaretto sour, I was driving but this was just as good as the real thing. Nice wine list too. I will 100% return and I often recommend to friends.

Excellent food (recommend the falafel and disco cauliflower) and even better service with the most kind, attentive and helpful servers. Wouldn’t hesitate to come again.

I highly recommend the Disco Cauliflower! The desserts are amazing too - delicious and very generous portion sizes.

Posing as a mediterranean cuisine place, lovely Mediterranean dishes but with only Sunday roast options on a Sunday. We came all the way outside the city on a rainy day to experience your modern improvisations on a cuisine with rich flavour and this was not possible. To finish on a high the waiter left us the machine to navigate through the app to make a payment. Review your communications and decision making when setting up the daily menu.

It was our first time visiting Maray on Friday, it was such a lovely evening. The food was delicious, great service and our server explained the menu to us and was very helpful. Lots of great veggie options, would definitely go back!! 🥰

We had the roast dinner, chicken and beef. Both fantastic with great portions and a generous amount of gravy on the side. Mint sauce was tasty as well. Baklava cheesecake was delicious but I didn't care much for the ginger cake. Friendly staff and great environment. Definitely coming back to try the main menu.

Fui a almorzar el domingo, pensé que la comida era francesa pero es más de Oriente Medio - y el Medio. El toque eterno del domingo fue increíble. El asado de garbanzos estaba delicioso, servido con las patatas asadas al fenogreco más crujientes que he probado en un restaurante, deliciosa col roja estofada, zanahorias asadas, tershi de calabaza y un generoso pudín de Yorkshire, servido con un cubo de salsa. Los amigos tenían la carne de res que se veía increíble, teníamos el pudín de pan y mantequilla. Personal muy atento, gran ambiente muy recomendable.

We went to this lovely little restaurant during a weekend in Manchester. The restaurant is located in a very central position, easily reachable on foot. We booked online, you will be asked to insert your credit card as a precaution in case you do not respect the reservation, as it is a very popular place despite the very intimate environment. The staff is friendly and nice, they are extremely helpful and kind throughout the evening. The place is evocative and the menu sublime, one dish better than the other. We can't wait to return and delight our palate in pure Manchester style!

It was a busy Friday night in Manchester & we had already been turned away once as walk ins. When we arrived at Maray they greeted us with warmth & found us a table for two. It was a busy place at 8:00 PM. Lots of happy diners. We settled on pita, baba ghanoush, disco cauliflower, lentils and rice and a fatoush salad. All were simple. All were fresh. All were delicious. Our server was exceedingly charming (we gave him a cash tip of 10 GBP). He guided us to some cocktail lounges to continue enjoying the night. This is a pleasant place for food, drink & conversation.

Had a great night for my first time at Maray, the food was incredible. And a big highlight was genuinely the service. So polite, genuinely interested in conversation and with a laid back friendly manner. Joules (sorry if spelt incorrectly) was a highlight, very welcoming and charismatic! Thanks Maray.

My word, I absolutely loved my meal here, small (actually quite big) sharing plates and heaps of choice and variety. Staff were amazingly knowledgeable on allergens and their cooking practices. Majority of the menu is already gluten free (including the fried chicken!) and is coeliac safe (no reaction at the time of writing anyway!) They really looked after me, food was great and they even had Free Damm 0% GF beer. It was great, I'd happily recommend it to all my coeliac pals! Will be back and in greater numbers.

I visited Maray Manchester with my partner after reading the wonderful reviews on Google. Disco Cauliflower and Falafel were very much worth the hype. Goats Cheese and Pita bread were delicious too. We wanted to try all the bestsellers and were left with no space to try the desserts. Something to try on my next visit! The ambience was cosy and relaxing and the waiter was very welcoming and took very good care of us. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience!

The place is mediocre and overpriced.

Lovely food. Lots of veggie options (there's also a separate vegan menu that clearly shows what's vegan). The server was lovely and explained the menu to us. We loved the spiced lentil and rice mejadara - although all of the dishes we ordered were excellent! I'd definitely recommend, and we'll be back to try out more of the dishes.

Nice place overall.. the waitress was super nice and very very kind I give her service and personality a 100! The vegetarian food was okay the french fries and hummus were the best. However tbh the chicken was not good at all,,so tasteless and very oily but they were kind enough to take it off the bill as they were very understanding ♥️ also there were some decorative dried flowers in the ceiling just right on top of the table that kept shredding and falling off while were eating 😅it was a little annoying but again overall it was a nice experience.

The food is great, very unique recipes and taste great. However, the waitress' attitude sucks. We finished a bottle of drinking water, asked for more three times, and each time she replied "yeah", then went on to doing her own thing cleaning up other tables, completely ignoring our request. At the end I asked her for the bill and also some more drinking water, and she replied "OK", then came back with the paying terminal only, still no drinking water, and went away to do her thing. I will not come back for this type of service no matter how good the food is. And then I reviewed the e-receipt after I went back to the hotel and found out they overcharged us.

Maray has truly taken the crown for the best roast dinner in Manchester. I'm still thinking about it then next day. The cocktails are great here too. Never fails.

Just had a Sunday Roast here . Absolutely first class . Very tasty and plenty of it . The atmosphere and the design of the interior was very pleasing. Morgan our server was actually world class and very attentive just there when you needed him . All in all one of my best eating experiences . Sunday Roast thoroughly recommended. Going again soon

OUTSTANDING!! Maray is my new fave I have been wanting to go to Maray ever since I heard about the disco cauliflower. But WOW it exceeded my expectations and more. The full meal was absolutely phenomenal and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection. The warm pitta with garlic on was amazing to dip into all the wonderful sauces on each of the dishes. It truly was amazing. Will be returning very soon !

Would 100% recommend, outstanding food and amazing flavours. Would recommend the felafel sharer, whipped goats cheese and disco cauliflower and all of the deserts. Excellent service and great value for money.

My 4th visit to this great restaurant with a friend for his birthday. Very warm & friendly staff, excellent food, good sized portions - disco cauliflower is a must have!

We recently visited this restaurant with high expectations. The service was moderate. The food, while presented beautifully on the plates, didn’t quite live up to its promising appearance. The flavours were underwhelming, and I've had much better options in Manchester. That said, I did enjoy the falafel plate, which stood out as the highlight of the meal. However, aside from that, there wasn’t much that would entice me to return.

We had a wonderful night for my friend’s birthday. The food is absolutely exquisite. My friend (whose birthday it was) has quite severe allergies to many foods, and our server Morgan was outstanding, patient and very helpful. Couldn’t recommend it enough x

Absolutely phenomenal service, food, and drinks. My partner and I were here for our anniversary this evening, and the staff there absolutely made the evening with looking after us. There was a minor issue with food coming out to us- it was solved immediately and comped off our bill. The food we got was some of the best Middle Eastern food we’ve ever had- the falafel was incredible, as was the cod loin. The dessert of Baklava cheesecake had absolutely no words to describe it other than it’s a must for every time we come back. Leaving the restaurant happy and extremely full. Thank you all for a lovely night!

OH MY GOD. i don’t say this often but this BANGER right here … wow wow wow. chefs kiss 😗👌 went with bf and his parents and couldn’t have picked a better place. The mood was just right for chit chatting (i hate when the music is too loud and u have to shout over each other) but this was perfect. place felt busy but not sweaty or overcrowded, plenty of natural light and spacious. The food… EVEN BETTER. incredible portion sizes for the price and the DESSERTS 🥵🥵🥵 do not sleep on the bread&butter pudding and baklava cheesecake. Although would deffos recommend sharing…. very dense and huge portion sizes; definitely not a bad thing!! an incredible selection for veggies and vegans!💗 And to top it off: the service. God bless our lovely waiter, Morgan from Wales! big UP🔫🔫 so fast and attentive, nothing was too much of a hastle, and just all round good vibes?!! highly highly recommend and happily a 5/5 for me which doesn’t happen often. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (sadly no pics as embarrassing with the in-laws)

Visited recently for the first time, and there are so many incredible dishes! The highlight was definitely the rump steak. The service and atmosphere were fantastic as well—we felt really well taken care of. Our waiter knew it was our first time and made sure to explain the menu and dishes to us. Menu options looked promising. However, the dishes did not match their names. Probably a complete disaster attempting to modernise or fusionise the dishes. What a disappointment.

Absolutely fantastic food, best in Manc

Maray is a fantastic place for small plates in Manchester. The food is excellent, with a wide variety of plant-based options (with a dedicated menu), which includes the best hummus I’ve ever had. Service is quick, friendly, and personal, without feeling intrusive. The space has a cool, modern atmosphere, great for anywhere from 2 people, all the way up to a large group. The only slight niggle is the lack of acoustic padding on the ceiling, so it can be quite difficult to hear the person across the table from you when it gets busy! I highly recommend the Disco Cauliflower, Roasted Broccoli, and the Falafel with Hummus. All are great plant-based dishes. Will definitely return next time I’m up north!

Fantastic experience. Pretty much totally gluten free and allergen-friendly. VERY tasty small plates, our fave was the braised carrots. Gluten free fried chicken was a treat for the mrs. Lovely wines, local craft beers. Totally hit the spot. It was busy, great atmosphere, very friendly staff and not terribly expensive. Style was like Ottolenghi on steroids. Only wish there was one nearer to home in Henley on Thames!

Outstanding experience every time that I have visited. Gorgeous food - especially the disco cauliflower and bhajis. Lovely alcoholic and non-alcoholic spritzes and cocktails. Attentive staff and flavoursome cuisine.

Food tasty, service good. However considerably overpriced for everything that was basically small plates. One cod lion the size of a fish finger, with nothing else on the plate except dressing, nearly £10. Eaten better for far less.

This is our favourite restaurant in Manchester, and we've visited it countless times. It's perfect for vegans and vegetarians, with an excellent menu and a fantastic atmosphere.

The vegan menu has lots of options. We had the falafel sharer which has lots of different tastes and contained the best falafel I have ever had. Service was outstanding and the food was the nicest I have had in a long time. Highly recommended.

We went as a group of 12 and the group sharing menu was amazing. So much food and the service was impeccable!

Exceptional service and the food is out of this world. The portions are surprisingly big and perfect for sharing. We struggled to finish six small plates and one flatbread between two. The falafel, the cauliflower bhajis, braised carrots, and roasted broccoli were seriously delicious. The sea bass was cooked to perfection. Everything was perfectly seasoned and felt authentic. The dishes come at different times which actually makes for a wonderful and surprising dining experience. The serving staff were so friendly and attentive, and everything just flowed. We shared the chocolate and coffee ganache for dessert - a huge portion that we couldn’t finish between two. Almost all of the menu is suitable for coeliacs, and they appear to accommodate most allergies and dietary preferences.

Visiting Manchester with my partner, and we found this place recommended on a list of places to eat in Manchester online. We emailed ahead (on the day of) as I have many allergies, and needed to know if they could cater for me. I had some emails back and forth, and a phone call, with the manager (Amy), who was very helpful and spoke to the chefs to sort out a list of dishes I could eat! I was very grateful that theh were able to sort this out in the space of an afternoon before we came in! When we arrived, our server told us they were coeliac, and so understood my stress and anxiety around going out for food and they were very thoughtful and kind when taking my order (and when I had multiple follow up questions to double check things). The bar were also very attentive and checked every ingredieng of both our cocktails meticulously to make sure I was safe. The food was incredible, I don’t get to go out for meals very often and this was such a treat for me. We had the flatbread and the hot dips and pickles (the dips are Hot but delicious), sweet potato and carrots (both of which the kitchen modified slightly to ensure they were safe for me!), lamb kofta, and my partner had the disco cauliflower, which I couldn’t try unfortunately but he said was fantastic! Our favourite dish was the carrots:) Every aspect of this place was fantastic, I can’t thank the kitchen, bar, and our servers enough. Will definitely be back if we visit Manchester again. (ps. apologies, we couldn’t wait to tuck in to the food so I think the carrot pictured has already been partially eaten haha)

This is a restaurant that takes customer feedback and experience seriously. Great food and drink (try the baklava cheesecake!), lovely service and paid such careful attention to my mum's food intolerance. I will definitely be back :)

We had the best experience here for my birthday dinner, I didn't catch the name of our server but he was wonderfully friendly and attentive with great recommendations for us. I'm vegan and my partner has a serious nut allergy and they were so helpful at highlighting which dishes we could have. Felt very safe in their hands, highly recommended!
