Maranto's Restaurant in Liverpool

First time here but hopefully not the last. Had the lunch menu. I had meatballs as a starter and Chicken Melt for the main. Glad I didn't go for three courses as the portions were really generous. Will be back.

First time visiting with family, small step on entry, outdoor seating for all street makes getting through a little difficult and definitely no way a wheelchair could get across the road. Were asked if we had a reservation and told them we called up just prior and were told to just come in. They have a car park but I was not aware of this and parked on a small tight side street. Staff was very friendly, there is a large disabled toiled which is step free. Limited Vegetarian/Vegan options. I Wanted the RISOTTO FUNGHI (V) (VEO) arborio rice, oyster and button mushrooms, white wine, cream but could not make it for me without the wine, then wanted the TORTELLINI CON SPINACI (V)spinach, ricotta, garlic, onion, cream, mozzarella but was told the pasta did have egg (after chacking with the chef) then asked if the fries were cooked in seperate oil to other products but this was no. In the end ended up with the Margherita pizza, which was tasty but not great, wish I could have eaten more. The other family members enjoyed their food and drinks fully. Lots of loud shouting and cheering from the upstairs bar (football on tv) spoilt the atmosphere, I would recommend them for a visit. It was Restaurant week so very competitive prices for a group of 6.

We came here at the start of the season and Nicholas looked after us, amazing service and beautiful food! Nicholas was so helpful and recommended other places to visit whilst we was here too! Highly recommend!

Comimos aquí con amigos. El restaurante es muy agradable. Tuvimos que esperar bastante tiempo para nuestra comida, probablemente unos 40 minutos y luego los platos no salieron todos juntos. Mi filete bien hecho estaba perfectamente cocinado y los otros platos fueron disfrutados por mis amigos. El personal era muy amable, aunque uno de ellos dirigió a mi amigo a los baños de hombres en lugar de las mujeres 🤣. .

La visitó por primera vez para almorzar. Pedí una pizza con cuatro ingredientes por 12 libras. 75 - tocino pollo y pepperoni. ¡No podía creer el tamaño de la pizza por ese precio! Gran relación calidad-precio y gran flexibilidad en los ingredientes ya que básicamente se puede tener una pizza a medida por un precio brillante. La pizza sabía increíble también! El interior era grande y agradable. Definitivamente volveré!

We waited over an hour for our meal. We sat outside in the beautiful sun. Building was beautiful full of history. Bit food took over an hour an nothing great as expectations grew as we waited. Presentation of food was not great also.

The Long Island iced teas & bbq ribs are to dieeee for! Great service & good vibes. Old fashioned taste, LOVE IT !Been here twice now and impressed so much both times so Definitely cut it for a regular 😍 can’t believe I’ve never been here before 🥹

Me, my partner and sister all ordered medium cooked steaks, and they were abysmal unfortunately. Very dried out and over cooked, the t-bone was black. None of the steaks tasted cooked at all, really disappointed & wouldn't return for a steak nor recommend at all. I think the chef should be retrained to know how to cook a steak or just stick to pastas.

La comida estaba deliciosa servida en tubería caliente y abundante que nos habían explicado algunos de los platos y lo que elegimos no nos decepcionó. Nuestra anfitriona Yasmin fue un placer ser servida por muy educado e informativo un activo para el equipo. Viajamos más de 18 millas y no nos decepcionó. volveremos pronto

First time dining at Marantos, and we were thoroughly impressed. After a disappointing experience with a reservation at an Italian place down the road, we decided to give Marantos a try. We were immediately given a table after a short 20-minute wait, which was fantastic, especially considering it was a busy Saturday night with all the St. Patrick’s Day buildup. We enjoyed drinks upstairs before being seated at a lovely table. The food was not only delicious but also very generous, with prices that felt appropriate for the Lark Lane area. The staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and provided excellent service throughout. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and we never felt rushed, unlike the typical rushed dining experience in busy spots. A big thank you to all the staff for making our first experience so enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back.

Sorry Maranto family if you are still the owners, we are Italian Americans to!!! Just had the worst waiter/customer interaction as possible on this place, my wife wanted a coffee prior to order some food, I couldn’t see a coffee machine inside the bar so I bought on the shop right next door and we sat outside to drink it, we were nearly finishing up and one of the most rude waiter/Manager wherever come at us very aggressively, firstly he was patronising us on how to put the coffee cups on the bin on the other side of the street and secondly how we shouldn’t buy from other places and sit on those tables, we were just shocked on how a disgusting and very nasty person could work with hospitality, was a Arab/Turkish waiter with an strange accent with a terrible attitude claiming being the owner, shouting being the owner of the place in front of everyone causing a scene, he was very aggressive and disrespectful all the time, to make it worse my wife is pregnant and she was very stressed about it, he was being rude and overreacting for no apparent reason, If he is the manager i suggest a fast replacement, unprofessional and unprepared little man if he stay this place will be shut in no time or worse. Unfortunately due to this I suggest everyone to avoid at all costs, there is way better places to go with more civilised and polite people, we never will come back to support this type of disgusting behaviour. England, Liverpool and Europe deserve better! Trust me.

Service was decent, but burger was bang average and a bit burnt. Could’ve been friendlier on the chips portion too. Nice ambiance however.

Excellent food, great service and a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. Prices are a little on the high side, but absolutely worth it for what you get.

We have been customers of Maranto's for nearly 30years. We had a bad experience last time we went but thought maybe it's a one off so went again for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately,the food was not great again, smaller portions for starters, and bland soup. Some of the meals were tepid and pasta dish also quite bland compared to what it use to be. Service was quite quick and efficient but sadly we won't be returning.

It’s getting harder and harder to find places with impeccable service, not this time though. Food was delicious, piping hot when it arrived almost as if it came straight out the kitchen to the table. Nothing was soggy from delivery etc. My only fault would be the garlic bread, while it tastes garlicky and has the cheese it’s just not garlic bread. Not disappointed, would definitely order again. Thank you.

Solía tener una gran reputación por la calidad de los alimentos, el tamaño de las porciones y el valor. Ahora es muy pobre. Mala calidad y microondas parecía. No comida fresca. La hamburguesa estaba demasiado cocida con patatas fritas tan saladas que no eran comestibles. Comentó al personal sin respuesta. Extremadamente caro también. Incapaz de terminar la comida tbh. El lugar se sentía triste, cansado, tampoco limpiaba bien.

Gran comida con mi familia extensa, comida y servicio muy bueno. Preciosa sensación acogedora y un gran ambiente. Para aquellos con alergias, no produjeron un menú de alérgenos cuando se les solicitó, pero alguien revisó el menú conmigo indicando qué alimentos eran seguros. Mi comida salió por separado al resto de la fiesta, lo que ayudó a mis nervios : )

Great place for Couples , groups or families

The chicken and broccoli pasta is so garlicky 😍 I hope they never change the recipe! Partner loves the Maranto classic pizza. We always love visiting Maranto's.

We were there for a 50th party upstairs. Great venue at the heart of Lark Lane.

Been a regular customer of marantos for over 30 years. We regularly book for special occasions. I have slowly noticed its decline over the past few years and Sunday was probably the last time we will visit. The atmosphere, staff, food and portions used to be excellent the staff was chatty and the place was buzzing. On Sunday we had a booking for 16 people the atmosphere in there was not great, the staff all looked down in the dumps and the food was really disappointing. Favourites like bruschetta now half the size it used to be the minestrone soup has gone and the pasta was raw. I was really disappointed and find other restaurants along lark lane have took over it

I first came here in 1985 when I was a student teacher at LIHE (Hope University). In the 39 years, it is still a great place to visit. Thanks to the staff for letting me look upstairs to see if it had changed. This was always a treat for us in 1985. If I lived in Liverpool, I'm sure I'd visit Marantos more often.

I ordered lasagne from the lunch menu and it weirdly arrived in a circular bowl. It was a bowl full of Bolognese sauce with cheese on top, with no bechamel sauce and hardly any pasta at all. Very strange and just a mess. I suspect they had almost run out of a batch and I received whatever they had left.

Very nice to sit outside on a nice day. Very spacious inside. Would be nice to have full table service but food was very tasty and well cooked. house wine was very good.

Visited 21 August 2024, booked a table for 2 prior to visit. Amazing food, very good on taste buds. We ordered cocktails which were very good. I would recommend a visit.

We went here for my daughters 10th birthday we was greeted by moody and ignorant waitresses and we received attitude throughout our entire meal that was when there was even a server present witch wasn’t very often and when approaching the manager at the end he became very aggressive and would not admit to any wrongdoing would never go here ever again.

Food was ok. Lamb shank was very dry though with not enough gravy. Pollo pasta very claggy but tasted nice. Garlic bread was nice

Had my 60th Birthday party in the upstairs function room with a buffet and private bar for about 60 guests and found the venue perfect for my needs. The Food provided and service were exceptional . Staff extremely helpful with the planning before the night and again very helpful during the function even helping when we had a problem with the DJ we sourced that let us down at the last minute. The venue assisted us to play our playlist through their sound system which was great 👍 Well done to Maranto’s for helping my night to be a happy Memorable one 👍

Went in for the euros atmosphere was great and the Kieran the barman was friendly and welcoming. Easy bar to get to and definitely worth another visit during the summer on the balcony bar

Delicious food, well priced, lovely atmosphere and warm welcome friendly staff. We had the most enjoyable Father’s Day lunch at Maranto’s and all agreed it was the best meal out we’ve had for quite some time. An ideal choice for families, firmly on our list of favourites.

A great surprise on Lark Lane. I confess that it didn't convince us looking at the outside, but the inside is beautiful. We stayed on the top floor where there is a pool table - for a fair price - and it was a lot of fun! The bar staff were very attentive, I ordered a strawberry colada which, although it wasn't on the menu and he had never made it before, was delicious! Very pleasant atmosphere! We will definitely be back in the future!

I was there Wednesday last week and had the lamb shank, I’m not a fan of lamb shank but the smell compelled me to have it. It was delicious, so much so I went back on Saturday evening and had the tortellini con spinachi. Also so good. They feed you, as all good Italians do and you leave with a full belly and great memories. The wine Luna Del Sur was outstanding. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere and a bargain. I don’t go frequently enough.

Good restaurant for families with children. Car park facilities, disabled toilet. Good service, friendly staff, excellent food. This is a very popular italian restaurant and would advise booking in advance.

Finest experience on Lark Lane, food is great and diverse there really is something for everyone. The staff are even better than the food all absolute legends.

Lovely place, easy to find, parking space nearby. Fast service, polite people, great size starters, very attentive, efficient and clean, hot plates, cold drinks and price was very competitive.

"Excellent"!! 4 of us went there yesterday, Sunday 7th April for lunch, great restaurant, food was superb, "Emma" our waitress was "excellent" she was very welcoming, friendly, polite, helpful & professional. The staff & service throughout were "absolutely excellent" with no rush at all, which was great and all the staff were just really nice young people, nothing was to much trouble at all!! Parking is easy, "Maranto's" have their own carpark opposite, so, just tap your reg in at the bar & it's "free"!!! Easy access for disabled & families etc...and the tables are well spaced!! It was a wet, cold Sunday, but, although it doesn't look it from the photos "Lark Lane" was busy, so, pre-booking is advisable ok👍 We got there at 1.30pm, left at 4pm, had a "wonderfull afternoon"!!! Thankyou "Maranto's"!!! "Very Highly Recommended"!!!

Haven't been there for many years but started going when it was just a small restaurant in 1982. It then advanced into a next door building and followed on upstairs. I went for years and had great times. Seems very tired now and for a bank holiday Saturday early evening it wasn't very full. It used to be buzzing.

Was average pub food nothing amazing but ok for the price. Had a Skippy burger said chunky chips and garnish as, a side. No garnish and the chunky chips were just frozen chunky chips would rather have fries as an alternative option but again its pub food so. The pasta dishes were very nice the pizza was nice and the skippy burger was great.

Another pleasant evening at Maranto's. Good choice of food and reasonably priced. I pre booked as Saturday nights are busy. No problem booking online. Received an email confirmation and a text reminder.

Booked for Mother's Day. Unfortunately, no one told us when booking that Liverpool match would be on upstairs. ( I hate football) So our visit was basically ruined by screaming and shouting and noise from bar area upstairs, made worse as we were sat next to bottom of stairs. Couldn't chat as couldn't be heard, had to shout at each other. Couldn't wait to finish food and go home. Very disappointing as not a cheap restaurant.

Great to go back here after such a long time. Made my feel very nostalgic. The food was just as great as it was 20 years ago when I last visited!

The colorato pizza was by far the. best. veggie pizza I've ever tasted. Although I didn't like the figue oil on top, it gave it an odd taste, and not a fan of cherry tomatoes generally, so took them off. But I would still rate it 10/10 and order it again. The chicken was amazing, very generously covered in the sauce, and with the honey mustard, you could definitely taste the mustard (as opposed to just a hint), which I loved. All in all, would order from you guys again.

We had a family get together at the weekend and we all had beautiful meals. The staff were so welcoming and helpful.

Maranto‘s is situated on a very cute street and looks quite nice from the outside and cozy from the inside. We went for lunch and I would recommend this place for a family lunch. The menu had options to make everyone happy. We ate well at a reasonable price.

Only called in for a few beers after walking around the nearby Sefton Park, and very nice it was too , great staff , service.

Recently, did an annual visit. I have been going since 1996. Although the food is always of a high standard, the place is in need of full make over. The furnishing are very cheap looking. In fact the tables and chairs look as if they belong in a CAFE not a top restaurant.

We booked for our Grandsons 18th and 11th Birthdays both on the same day Food was delicious Staff were very helpful and attentive all in all an excellent evening

Ordered a pizza, bin lid version, the Maranto’s special, bbq sauce, chicken, rib meat and mozzarella cheese. The bbq sauce was the worst thing I’ve ever tasted, vinegary to the point of stomach acid levels, no bbq taste whatsoever, it made me ill, I only had two slices and I could not eat anymore due to the nauseating feeling growing inside me. This is before I mention that the rib piece is shredded beef that was dry as a bone. The chicken was okay, soft. The worst part though was when mentioning this to a staff member, who told the manager who came over and was so defensive I thought he was Van Dijk. He was. It helpful in anyway, just kept reiterating it’s not off, we sell 100 pizzas a day, it’s not off, I’ll take it off, I’ll take it off. That was it. Wasn’t open to any dialogue, he was clearly annoyed. What happened to customer centric customer service, where was the I’m sorry sir, would you like me to replace it with another meal, another pizza? Nothing. He was rude, obnoxious - it was as if I’d personally took a dump on his manicured front lawn. Baffling. This place used to be fairly good for meals, but after this debacle of a visit we won’t be going back, and anyone who asks will be told about the manager and his rude nature. This review will be posted everywhere it’s possible to review your establishment. Disgusting behaviour and disgusting food. Btw, I should mention my wife had the stuffed chicken breast that came with half the ingredients missing, and an overly excessive use of garlic in the sauce. It looked like a plate of sick had been poured over the chicken. Sorry state of affairs. This place really has gone to the dogs.

Nice place, very limited gluten free menu, no gluten free pizza’s sadly. As a coeliac who is vegetarian, there are only 3 main dishes to choose from.

Like a wetherspoons pub with expensive food. Environment is a pub, starters and mains was served and (half) eaten within 40mins, pasta and sauce tasted warmed up as if it was served from a buffet. Food was tasteless, I have Tricolore which was pesto pasta as you’d make it at home from a jar. Party of 3 with one alcohol drink each and cost £95. Manager wasn’t bothered, didn’t even apologise, said it wasn’t busy tonight which was irrelevant to the situation. Only solution was the knock the drinks off the bill. Wouldn’t pay the price again for pub, out of a jar, buffet food.

Had a pizza, slightly overcooked which was a shame as the rest of the food was lovely. Service ok, music quite loud. Free parking in the car park opposite.
