What an excellent experience, three Sunday roasts and a ribeye steak. Correctly cooked and fantastic sides. Loved the mac cheese, and whilst the flavour was stunning I didn't particularly like the texture of the grilled marrow bone, however I have tried it and if that floats your boat crack on. The waiter Jake went above and beyond as we were belatedly celebrating a birthday and they do not have draught beers, he nipped over to the local and bought us two pints of Guinness. Stand out man, he will go far. The rest of the wait staff were also very good.

Inside's really nice, they've even kept the old wrought iron gates with "Lloyds" on as the building used to be Lloyds, surprisingly. The food is amazing, the service was amazing. It's a bit pricey though.

We tried something different on this occasion but it wasn’t great no fault to the chef just the costly piece of meat was alittle tuff !! I didn’t complain however when brought to the attention of the manager he quickly apologised and changed my meal without any fuss or explanation he could clearly see the meat wasn’t up to standard and changed it no hesitation removed it off our bill and gave me my fresh meal also free of charge Thankyou it was an act that we didn’t expect and gave us a fabulous experience that could easily been a disappointing family meal and look forward to returning very soon Thankyou again Hogg Family x

Totally satisfied. Food and wine were outstanding. We shared pork belly to start, and it was unbelievable. We both had ribeye steaks, which were off the charts, but my son got a side of bacon that nearly stole the show. However, the highlight of the evening was our server, Jake. He was an is a consumate professional. Bright, good humoured and utterly efficient. Great experience all round and will be back.

Service, setting and succulent steak! Second visit and I forgot how good it is. The service is fantastic, the hosts aren't pushy and the advice is great. I usually have my steaks blue / rare but as they are done on charcoal I was advised to have medium rare as it would be crisp on the outside and rare on the inner. The cuts were amazing and I'd highly reccomended the fillet! Check that photo! Highly recommended 👌 👍 👏

If it were based on steak alone it would be a full 5 stars! The fillet was cooked perfectly and had a depth of flavour, the rib eye tender and tasty. The bearnaise and peppercorn sauce were also excellent. However, for the price point of the restaurant I expected perfection in everything else. It's probably the most expensive meal we've ever had (£170 for starters, mains, sides and drinks for 2) but outside of the steak, everything was just OK. For £18 I was expecting plump large scallops but what was served was more akin to an M&S dine at home, small tasteless scallops served in shells. The side of buttered greens for £6 was just boiled cabbage, no flavour at all. The fries were good, but were more crunchy macdonalds fries than anything out of the ordinary. The cider was served in a warm dented can, no bottled cider here. The service was prompt but with what felt like forced cheeriness. Would I go back? For an early evening steak deal, definitely. The steak alone is worth it, the extra £100 we spent on starters and sides, not so much.

Brilliant place. The ribeye is out of this world. Had the beef dripping fries and béarnaise sauce. The sauce is best I’ve ever had! Service is great and they can’t do enough for you. The one thing that lets the place down is the drinks. Yeah the food is pricey - but you definitely get what you pay for so don’t mind that. The cheapest bottle of red is £37.50 which is a tenner in the supermarket. Beer wise - it’s a bit OTT - £5.50 for a Coca Cola size can of poncy larger. Keep it simple guys, we come for the amazing food, not the over priced cans of lager we’ve never heard of.

Attended as large family meal for celebrating birthday, enjoying the January offers. All of the food was freshly cooked and mostly of high quality. Pepper sauce a bit of a let down, and vegetarian option not the best. All the steaks were fabulous though. The drinks were very expensive and without the offers, the food menu would have been too.

Updated Jan-24. Still the best place in Liverpool for steak, although I find lunch service a little more hectic and prone to mistakes (medium rump came as veeeery rare today). Finally, steak has arrived in Liverpool. Sure we've always had the odd rodizio, and Cowshed is decent up the other end of town...but now we have Gaucho and Hawksmoor within two minutes of each other. But let's talk Hawksmoor. What a building - really shows off Liverpool's history, and has been fitted out beautifully. Service is fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed. Paid attention but didn't fuss, which is key. The starters are phenomenal - get the potted beef or the smoked salmon - and the specials are good too (three oysters for £9? I'm sold). They have an express menu with some great options. At time of writing it was £27 for three courses, which is a steal. Only available until 6PM and not on Sundays. Happy that it includes Saturdays for sure. The fillet tail I got was cooked to perfection, and the staff recommended medium rare, which it was. Chips were decent but mash and creamed spinach are the right choices. Went for the sticky toffee sundae, which rounded the night off nicely. Delicious, and with fresh ingredients. £60 per person with some drinks? Bargain. Hawksmoor we will be back.

Everything was perfect from start to finish. We went for pre-theatre dining & were very pleasantly surprised to find that there is an early bird dining offer. The smoked mackerel , fillet tail followed by passion fruit cheesecake were all delicious. The size of the steak in this deal was perfect for early evening dining. My partner loved her potted beef with Yorkshire starter rump steak & the same cheesecake. All of the staff were friendly & helpful. The surroundings & ambience make the hawksmoor a very special place to eat.

We visited Hawksmoor on a Friday evening and could not fault it whatsoever. Our waiter specifically, unfortunately didn’t get his name, looked after us amazingly. Our drinks took a short while (we’ve waited longer in other restaurants) and he was straight over apologising and taking them off our bill. He made sure we understood the menu, and recommended sides with the dishes we had. My partner was recommended the bone marrow gravy which he had and it was exceptional. Our food, the scallops, salmon, wellington and fillet were all amazing, could not fault them. Overall an amazing evening, lots of staff to help, busy, good atmosphere and our waiter made it a lovely evening for us. Will definitely be back and recommending it.

We visited here as we were in Liverpool and she to make use of Amexs free meal out so make sure of this if you can. We booked in advance and had our two month old with us. There was no issue with this which was relaxing for us and most staff actually made an attempt to comment on him and help which was great. My wife enjoyed 3 delicious oysters and I had the ribs to start. Everything tasted great and was presented perfectly. We decided to have a shared porterhouse steak with the Sunday roast and it was served perfectly and delicious. Sunday roast trimmings were fantastic. Only issues I found was it was a little warm in the place as it was very busy and the noise echoes bad so we struggled to talk. Overall 100% I would recommend

Beautiful building and amazing atmosphere but at £100 for a chateaubriand roast for two the service was slow and the “all the trimmings” was small with only 2 small roast potatoes each, some carrots and cabbage it felt like something was missing. The smallest jug of gravy which doesn't stretch that far was also disappointing. It's got huge potential but needs refining.

5 Star Prices for a 3 Star experience. Visited Hawksmoor yesterday with my wife as read and heard good reviews. Went for the 2 course special. Steak was cooked the way I asked however its was way over salted (am not a fussy eater) and tasted like it had been cooked over flavoured wood chips which distorted the taste of the steak. Ordered spinach side which didnt arrive so had to ask for that. Also ordererd a bottle of rose which the cheapest bottle was £40...it had a syrup taste to it and honesty wouldnt pay £5 for it. Overall would give it 3 stars and glad I didnt order off the main menu as the steaks are not cheap even though I Paid over £130 for 2 people. Disappointed as I thought this could be an option for me and my friends for a private dining experience which we do a few times a year. Think for the prices will keep to the fine dining restaurant I go to in liverpool. (dont want to mention the name as want to keep this review impartial).

Service fantastic. Setting also lovely. Saturday 1830, unfortunately loud and seated by 10 loud males,.. - perhaps groups of males only should be vetted, it wasn't nice. Food, unfortunately was poor. Medium rare ribeye, was at best medium well... dry and so bad I didn't eat it. In fairness, the manager offered to make it right and cook me something else, but by that time my partner has finished her meal and I wasn't interested. The manager also argued with me about the steak, saying that he thought that it was medium rare... Well I've eaten steak all around the world, and never ever have I had such a dry, pathetic attempt at a medium rare. It was awful. Again, in fairness they didn't charge us for the steaks. But for a brand that is 'all about the steak'.... pretty basic error to ruin a good ribeye. Also too busy, maybe don't go on a Saturday at prime busy time. Certainly not worth the money and not close to the hype unfortunately.

I booked a Sunday evening reservation for my husband’s birthday. The staff were welcoming & attentive customer service is excellent.The interior is beautiful, it was busy & a good atmosphere. My husband was disappointed that there is no draft beer, he was given a small can which he had to pour into the glass, didn’t expect that from a restaurant of such calibre. my husband ordered the potted beef, ribeye, chunky chips, peppercorn sauce & greens. Gravy with potted beef was cold. His dinner plate was cold, the steak was , in his words ok, coldish, he’s had much better & the sauce too watery. Overall he wasn’t impressed. I ordered the fillet, chunky chips, spinach. My plate was cold too, but my fillet was delicious, chips & spinach good, had to eat it quickly though as only warm. We also had the cheesecake & chocolate custard dessert’s which were nice, 2 glasses of wine total £188. We don’t like to complain as it tends to spoil our evening, but we did expect it to be much better than it was.

Excellent ! I love this place. There is not once that I’ve come here that was disappointing. All times it’s a very very good experience. From drinks to food I love this place. Super recommend. It’s a bit expensive so prepare for that when you add wine. If no wine they have a promotion of food for 25£ which is good. I would change just the music would add some dining music to make it more cozy.

We love Hawksmoor and seek it out whenever we are taking a city break. Liverpool’s branch does not disappoint: stunning bar and dining room and the food was as outstanding as we have come to expect from our visits. Nice, but overrated and overpriced in some departments (wine in particular, but also £6 for buttered greens aka green cabbage?). I ordered the cast iron fillet, which while nice would have tested even the most salt-resistant palate with the level of seasoning - my partner said she would have sent it straight back. Tunworth mash was excellent. The £5.50 fries were the incredibly average frozen fries served everywhere. Biggest issue was with over familiar service as is sometimes the case in restaurants, when friendliness crosses over into an uncomfortable level of familiarity (we didn't invite you to dinner, I don't expect overly personal questions, and staff are the least well dressed people there in a number of cases). Welcome was warm, table service far too familiar. The Sunday roast looks good and may represent better value but I won't rush back. And I do wish restaurants would stop trying to impose service charges - I am happy to tip what I feel appropriate for the service received, not a fixed 'suggested' %.

Absolutely amazing. From the moment you step in the door, to the moment you leave the place is sensational. The steak was flavourful, the cider cold, and the staff the right balance of friendly yet conservative. Yes, prices here are a lot higher than most restaurants in the area, but the steak was cooked perfectly to my liking, and was just right. Would absolutely recommend Hawksmoor to anyone. The menu is varied with some good specials on the boards too so a very good selection. The only criticism I would have were desserts; a bit of a strange mix, and the sticky toffee pudding I had while delicious, it was insanely sweet to the point it was impossible to finish. But overall a really good choice for food in Liverpool. Come here hungry and you will not be disappointed.

Great food and service. We went for express set menu and both had the fillet tail, well worth the extra money. Hubby had the beef and bacon starter, it was huge could easily share and I had the shortbread, nice but not great. We also went on a Monday so took advantage of the £5 corkage. Surprised they didn't do mushrooms as a side but we got the creamed spinach which was good. Will defo be going again

We had an incredible birthday lunch here today. What amazing food, great atmophere. The staff were so relaxed and happy in their work. In particular, Luke, was fantastic. Really knowledgable. We took our parents there for their 30th wedding anniversary and had the best night. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning, very old school 1920s glamour. The food was STUNNING and our server for the evening Luke was wonderful. He couldn't have done enough for us and helped make the evening very special for our parents. The scallops were something else, and of course being a steak house, we all opted for different cuts. Everything was perfect, cooked expertly and properly seasoned. We will definitely be back soon!

Hawksmoor: a thing of beauty ✨ I’ve been checking Hawksmoor out since they opened & kept meaning to visit, but it never quite happened, so when I saw a rail strike deal on, aimed at incentivising people to visit on strike days, I thought… let’s do it! 🖼️ Hawksmoor, set in the historic India Buildings, is a stunning venue. There are parts of architecture from the old bank, and Ste remembers it being a post office too. Liverpool is fantastic at remodelling buildings but keeping parts of history visible- I think it’s fascinating! Hawksmoor feels luxurious and opulent, but still relaxed and friendly too, so it’s ideal. On to the food! 🦪 I started with oysters, which were gorgeous. If you’re going fancy, you might as well make it count, right? 🥩We went for steak frites for our mains. I had mine medium rare and it was absolutely *divine*. The flavours were stunning & nothing was overly complicated. Ste upgraded to a fillet tail, which, turns out, is different to a fillet. He wasn’t hugely keen on the texture. I tried it too, obviously, and I thought it was also wonderful 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🧀🥬🥔 The macaroni cheese was lovely, but my outstanding dish was the creamed spinach- actually heavenly and I was so sad it was finished 😅 The mash & gravy was also perfect. 🍓We shared strawberry pavlova and chocolate rolos, even though we were stuffed. They were delicious & I fully recommend overindulging like we did! 🍸We had (strong!) French martinis, a lychee martini, & a lemon sgroppino- my favourite. Tangy & refreshing 🍋🤩 Overall, I’d give Hawksmoor 5⭐️, absolutely no doubt about it. Straight into our top 5 steak places, and smashed Gaucho to pieces!

Starter of old spot ribs was so delicious, melt in the mouth. Steak was cooked exactly as asked, very tender and tasty. Husband's steak had little fat on it where as mine had a huge lump of unrendered fat. Wasn't really a problem, I just cut it off and left it on the side and didn't say anything. After our plates were cleared manager came over and said it was totally unacceptable that my steak had so much fat on it and he'd deducted the cost from the bill. That's what you call customer service! We will return in the knowledge of great food and fantastic service is here.

What a wonderful restaurant! The decor is elegant and provides a perfect tie of ambiance and aesthetic without feeling cramped in with other diners and not feeling rushed to finish your meal and leave. We came to celebrate our parents 30th wedding anniversary and they were treated like royalty with fantastic, enthusiastic service from start to finish. The food was out of this world. Steaks and fish all round with not a bite left on any plate and desserts that were a perfect balance adding a satisfying light sweetness after a rich and sumptuous main. I couldn't recommend this place more. If you want a five star service from the moment you walk in to when you finally pull yourself from your seat, with food that is satisfying in portion and flavour, this is your place. I will certainly be coming back!

Excellent friendly service from the greeting onwards. It was really busy and there was a great atmosphere but service was very prompt and the restaurant is really well staffed. The venue itself is impressive and really lends itself to a special occasion. The food was outstanding and the express 2 or 3 course menu is great value for the quality on offer. potted beef & bacon with Yorkshires was a particular hit as a starter. The portions are very generous. We were a large party but we were all served quickly and together for each course. The atmosphere is lovely.

* Arrival. - Very welcoming, friendly members of staff who escorted us to our table. * Food & Drink. - We started with a cocktail and a 'sharpener' - Negroni and Ranch Water. Both were good. - Appetisers we had three scotch bonnet oysters, bone marrow with onions, scallops. I cannot fault any of them, all were to a high standard. The scallops are some of the best I've ever tasted, extremely fresh and packed full of flavour. The bone marrow was incredibly tasty, the onions elevated the dish to another level. Oysters were fresh and the spice from the peppers complimented them perfectly. - The main course we ordered a 700g Chateaubriand, unfortunately this was a major disappointment. When paying £16 per 100g, expectations are obviously to a high standard. We requested for it to be cooked medium rare, you could argue that the closer to the middle of the steak we got it may have been medium rare, but the majority was medium well and shockingly well done. A Chateaubriand should be tender, velvety, melt in the mouth texture that a knife should glide through. However, it was incredibly difficult to eat, extremely tough, rubber textured which took an entirety to chew. It was more to the consistency of roast beef than an actual steak, it was just a very bad cut of meat. I try not to exaggerate when I say I've had steaks from supermarkets and even Weatherspoons that have been more tender. - Sides consisted of creamed spinach and beef dripping fries, whilst the latter didn't really have a wow factor the spinach was very very good. - Wine: we took a Chilean blend, medium bodied called Grus de Alcohauz which went down well. Huge selection of wine which is great and good that you have an in-house sommelier in case of any directions you may need in choosing a wine. * Service recovery - I cannot fault the staff, each person who tended to us was professional, polite and worked with a smile on their face. - When following up with us during our Chateaubriand course, I gave my feedback to the waitress and showed her my concerns with the steak. She agreeded that it wasn't medium rare and offered to replace. However, I chose not accept that offer as we had already begun, we had already ate perhaps 25% of the overall steak and didn't feel the desire to want to stop and then continue again with a new steak and sides later. - I was pleasently surprised to be told that the entire steak would be taken off the bill which I was grateful for. The fact that the staff member could see my feedback I'm sure beneficial to the overall decision to remove from the bill. * Overall - I had been wanting to come to Hawksmoor for a long time but left feeling disappointed. Whilst I had fantastic items from the menu such as the scallops and the bone marrow, they were ultimately not what I came to Hawksmoor for. The star of the show should have been the steak but it fell so far short that it takes away from the rest. - Would I return or recommend? I would like to give it the benefit of the doubt and come again, but this time perhaps I would order a regular individual steak rather than one of the premium sharing options only then could I recommend it. Thanks for the service.
