Stopped for some excellent coffee (Lavazza) and a sandwich. A tiny, dog-friendly café, with a couple of tables outside. We sat inside and chatted to a couple of locals while Manny made our food and felt very welcome indeed. Recommended.

Manny is a very friendly host and he offered to make omelet which wasn't even in the menu and I wasn't even thinking. It's like he knew what might suit me for a light lunch. The custard tarts were amazzzzzing. His cafe was an accidental find for us and sure I'd say it was a sweet accident. Reasonable prices and very humble :)

Best Custard Tarts Ever! I always thought that I am not a huge fan of custard tarts and if they are around, I never go for them. Well that was then before I tried Mannys custard tarts, They are absolutely yum, We gave some to our friends and now anytime we go to the mainland, we get a special request for them. Also the coffe at this place is really good too! just the way a like it, better than costa I would say.

As we couldn’t go to Portugal this summer we came to our other favourite place - Cowes. When I saw Mannys open I had to get some custard tarts. Just fantastic - enjoyed with a glass of planalto wine, not quite the algarve but a good effort!

Breakfast at Mannys what can be better? A very full menu but if you want something on a plate (a full breakfast) you might be disappointed as it's all sandwiches. Excellent coffee if you like authentic Portuguese try the galao and just for a bit of a sweet treat you must do the pastel de belem.

Whilst visiting Cowes we were looking for somewhere to have lunch which did light bites at a reasonable price. We decided to eat here as they had a good selection of sandwiches and baguettes which were reasonably priced and also all the fillings were on display. Evertything was made freshly to order, was very tasty and ample fillings. The owner was very friendly and helpful, so was her little helper she had for the day. I would say its one of the best little cafes in Cowes.

Mannys is a family run cafe. I highly recommend visiting if you’re ever in Cowes, it’s our favourite place to come to when we’re here! They’re so friendly and welcoming and have a wide variety of amazing and tasty food; their custard tarts seem to be the most popular and truly have the most delightful taste. Always had great service here without fail.

Don't be put off by the exterior of this charming café. It may look like an average high street cafe but it's very much worth a visit to experience the quality and service. The Portugese custard tarts are absolutely delicious, the best we've tasted outside Portugal, always freshly baked. Coffee is excellent. Good choice of sandwiches. Extremely friendly and courteous service. Fantastic value.

Popped in here for lunch today. Had no idea what it would be like ,only a small cafe. We had a large bowl of delicious Roasted red pepper soup with half a baguette and ample butter for £3.50 which I thought was really good value. We followed it up with a custard tart which was as good as the ones from Portugal and tasted as if it was straight from the oven. Well done and may your business flourish.

The most wonderful baking - shortbread and Portuguese custard tarts to die for - definitely try. Small cafe near the waterfront with a family atmosphere, friendly service and very reasonable prices despite Cowes Week just about to begin.

We have walked past this cafe many times but this time I happened to see Portuguese custard tarts advertised - I didn't need telling twice - my husband and I are addicted to the wonderful little tarts and I have to say that they are the best we have tasted outside of Portugal! I purchased the last two and returned the next morning to enjoy a coffee and a tart and Manny boxed up several for me- so sorry that we bought the days freshly baked supply!!! Manny was a very good host and it was lovely to talk to him about Madeira which was his home.

Happened to come across Manny's and did we hit lucky. Amazing prawn and avocado baguette and smoked salmon and cream cheese. The Portuguese custard tarts are home made and delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Can't recommend this cafe more. Manny has his cafe set up just right, perfect lunch will be back if we are in Cowes.

Manny serves the best Nata Tarts outside Lisbon. All freshly made by Mrs Manny. Excellent coffee, too, and their little coconut cakes are a delightful bite-ful. But the tarts, hot from the oven, are ridiculously good.

Being a local I did not stay at the hotel but I thought I'd try the food as eating out in Newport is limited to say the least (unless you like pizza/pasta, there are at least 4 of these). I fancied traditional pub food which today is a scarce as all the pubs seem to be in the Gordon Ramsey mode, posh food, very little of it and expensive. The Wheatsheaf’s menu included real pub classics including Steak and Ale pie, Pork Belly, Steak and Chips, Lamb Shank to name a few. For starter’s I opted for the chilli prawns, a generous portion, cooked perfect and presented shell off which saves all that peeling and messy fingers! Starters are all priced at £5.00. I followed this with a perfectly cooked 8oz sirloin steak (med-rare) with lovely crispy chips and a blue cheese sauce accompanied by a nice crisp fresh salad, (which was not just a bowl of leaves like in most places). Although the chips were frozen they were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, perfect, I almost mistook them for the latest fad (3 times cooked chips). The chef must have a trick up his sleeve. The steak was cooked perfect. A field mushroom would have been a nice touch. Here's the good bit, all main dishes are only £10, if you fancy steak you do pay a £4.00 supplement which is fair. Even though I was stuffed I could not resist the homemade Rhubarb Crumble with cream. I managed to eat ¾ of it. Again, all the desserts were priced at £5.00. All I can say is although this pub has had a bad reputation for food in the past this is certainly not the case now, it’s really worth giving it a try.

As Aussies we are critical of coffee as our culture is addicted to it. Here we had a coffee we were amazingly thrilled with. It was a REAL COFFEE with flavour, depth, texture and truly made with love thank you Emma for creating the best coffee we have had in the entirety of the UK xx
