Chale Bay Farm Tea Room & Garden in Isle of Wight

We were here for a long weekend. The suite we had was fantastic, clean, and well presented. The hosts are on site but leave you alone unless needed.

This was our second time at Chale Bay Farm and Steve and Charlotte are amazing hosts. Great facilities and accommodation on the best part of the island. Book directly with them and you'll enjoy a 10% loyalty discount on repeat bookings.

Nothing to dislike at all. Location, facilities, I could go on. Kids didn't want to leave. They even asked me to buy it!!

Stunning views of the IoW, beautiful apartments clean comfortable and very high specification of fittings and equipment, Steve the owner made us feel very welcome. You won't be disappointed here.

My husband booked for 2 nights for my 40th birthday , we love this island and have visited many times . This is the first time staying here. The view from here is spectacular , the outside spaces are kept extremely well and beautiful. You can tell a lot of work goes into the upkeep. We stayed in at Catherine's view , spacious with good amenities coffee maker and milk in the fridge , good products in bathrooms. The cottage was well presented and mainly clean, There was a big issue that was resolved quickly which was good. It was more than we have spent before when we would usually spend for a couple of nights away on the island but with covid and cost of living rising I'm guessing that's par for the course .

Stayed here for the weekend in the Needles view apartment, the apartment was lovely very spacious and very clean and lovely views was a perfect weekend! Would highly recommend!

We had a lovely stay in the Tenneyson view room. The room was much bigger than expected,it was very clean and comfortable. You can see the needles and Tennyson from the room and there's a patio so you can sit out on a sunny day to enjoy the view. Location is great, very quiet and only a short drive to Compton bay and ventnor. We had dinner and drinks at the Wight Mouse Inn which is about 5 mins walk across the road.

We loved staying here. For us it was the best views on the island. The rooms were lovely and cosy. We couldn't believe the extra details they put into everything, including a detailed book that told us all the best places to visit/nearest shops/if we were religious where we could go. We loved it so much, we got engaged there. We could not recommend it anymore.

Fantastic break. Lovely accommodation, location & views towards the Needles. Walking distance to pub/restaurant The Wight Mouse Inn. Would definitely recommend & return again.

Very warm welcome, apartment was so clean and beautiful, everything you need and more. Location is superb, I really didn’t want to come home, will definitely be returning soon. Myself and my friends had a lovely break, one of the best places I’ve ever stayed in.

My first impression on entering my room was the overwhelming odour of cheap perfume coming from a bottle of oil with diffusing sticks which I had to place outside in order to breathe normally. Even though the stench was overwhelming it was also clearly masking the smell of tobacco from a previous occupant. The furniture is clearly showing its age alongside the 2010 era electronics and fancy light switches which have become dysfunctional. The wifi failed within hours, forcing me to rely on extra data purchases from my 4G provider. I wasn't planning on making any comment or review until I found they had written an extremely nasty review mentioning my name 3 times, presumably in a crude attempt to attract search engines to highlight their allegations. I was also disappointed they didn't acknowledge the coffee and flowers I left as a gesture of goodwill.

Lovely place to stay and beautiful views. Owner wouldn't compromise about the 9am kick out which was pretty harsh but overall a great stay x

We had a wonderful stay at Chale Bay Farm and really didn’t want to leave- it’s so peaceful with such beautiful views especially the exquisite sunsets. It’s been exactly what we needed-restorative and just perfect.

For beauty peace tranquility, long walks and good pub food less than 2 miles away.

Stunning location with great accommodation. Amazing hosts, sparkling clean, amazingly thoughtful little touches throughout the room. The view was breathtaking and will be returning here for an extended family and friend holiday. Highly recommend!!

My wife and I stayed in the Tennyson View Room (just checked out today). We were pleasantly surprised by the lovely view, and the room was bigger than we thought with plenty of space to put our things and make it feel as home for the four nights we stayed. They provided tea, coffee, milk and some biscuits in our room and also shampoo conditioner body wash and soap in the bathroom. The room had a DAB radio and flat screen tv with a good range of channels as well as lots of films on dvd. We found it a nice and peaceful stay and perfect place to go and explore the rest of the island from. Will definitely return if we are ever in the Isle of Wight again.

Stayed here on a few occasions! And highly recommend. Superb breakfast, very comfortable rooms and the view's are amazing.

This is fabulous place to stay for a weekend. On the south side of the island but worth the drive. The rooms are in immaculate condition. We had the slightly larger family room which had an upstair room as well. The views are stunning especially on a warm spring/summer day. The owners are super friendly, service with a smile. And to top it off, your classic English breakfast. No hesitation to recommend this place.

Beautiful luxury apartment with everything anyone would need for a self catering holiday. By far the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in. Beautiful courtyard with a Japanese theme. Well established fish pond with wooden bridge and many ornamental features to complement the range of plants and trees. Lovely to sit there in the morning sunshine with the first cuppa of the day and with a glass of whatever you fancy when the sun has gone and the coloured lighting takes over. From the private patio with ample seating, there is a fantastic sea view in front with the white Cliffs and bay to the right. This is all seen beyond the well kept rural setting. The lovely hosts Charlotte and Steve are very friendly and go to great lengths to make sure their guests enjoy their stay at Chale bay Farm. I would recommend this holiday accommodation to anyone.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in 2006, while visiting England. It was the best place we stayed our entire trip. The host was a lovely Australian woman who made us feel quite at home, and her breakfasts were excellent.

Just returned from a business trip to Chale Green. Great accommodation & very near the coast. Great breakfast. Local pub just over the road. Well equipped room to very high standard & will definitely return.

It has amazing food, nice rooms, great staff and service and a stunning location and view. Loved it.

A fantastic place to stay. Extremely well presented rooms in a lovely location. The owners are remarkably friendly and accommodating.

More expensive than a regular B&B but the rooms are high spec and the views are spectacular - all the way to the needles and beyond to the Dorset coast on a clear day... (We also had good look at a Peregrine flying overhead from the patio which was bonus). The feel is more like a small hotel than staying in someone's home. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful.

Great welcome and attentive service. I really enjoy the grouping of rooms around the central courtyard matched with great views from the large patio doors. Delicious breakfast and sumptuous furnishings.

Chale Bay Farm is a cool little oasis on the south of the Isle of Wight. Offering great jump off for walking around the area, the rooms are superbly comfortable with great attention to detail. The beds are total luxury the rooms thoroughly and tastefully decorated and equipped for comfort. They feel wonderfully clean and organised and welcoming. The breakfast is extensive and served to your choice. Superb.

Frente a la fuerza del Solent, Chale Bay Farm tiene ventanas grandes que hacen que el edificio iluminada por luz natural. Más lejos, hay un jardín que está bañado por el sol en los meses más cálidos, sin duda merece la pena una visita. Tomar un té cream - recomiendo ir a por ello!

Sorry to Steven for just dropping in on you but I have heard so much about those cream teas of yours and thought as we are in the area we would pop in, and as per normal you was very welcoming and friendly and was not upset that we did not pre book and was very willing to help us. The scones were amazing very tasty and yummy, I will be back and I will book first just to make sure you have a good supply of scones and cream in.

La bienvenida fue sólo el comienzo de nuestra maravillosa estancia en CBF. La habitación era muy cómoda, limpia y bien equipada y tranquila. Las instalaciones y las vistas eran igual de buena. La hospitalidad de Steve, Charolette y su equipo fue insuperable. encontramos bíblica católica por casualidad y qué bueno que era.

Te dan un bollo cada una, simple o fruta, algo de mantequilla, una generosa ayuda de nata y mermelada y una buena taza de té. probado encantador y mucho. Se obtiene al menos 3 tazas de té de una cafetera y un muy satisfechos chungo de botas.

Nos alojamos en la Isla de Wight durante 2 semanas. Probamos un par de 'los lugares del té de la tarde pero este fue, de lejos, el mejor servicio, comida y relación calidad-precio. (la camarera incluso me ayudó a ordenar mi iphone!)

We enjoyed a lovely Cream Tea here, nice home made scones. Lovely out look and very clean, really freindly staff.

We found Chale Bay Farms cream teas really good value, warm scones, loads of jam and clotted cream, Sarah who served us was friendly and pleasant and it wasn't too much trouble for her to sort out some gluten free and dairy free food for one of our friends, So ! good food, good value, clean and friendly staff, good to find a bit of quality still exists. We live on the Island but it's our first visit there, but it won't be our last. And if thats not enough it's situated in a wonderfull area. Peter and Jackie.

We visited Chale Bay Farm for a cream tea on 25th July and we were thrilled with the friendly service from the young ladies and the delicious tea. The views from the tea room on a good day are delightful. The scone was warm and of a good size, lots of delicious butter, jam and clotted cream. The pot of tea for two was of a decent size with lots of milk and we were told to ask for more hot water if needed. The tea rooms also serve light lunches and other cakes and drinks if required. The ladies’ loo was spotless and provided Bayliss and Harding soap! Well worth a visit.

We read the reviews and with the numerous 'tea shops' on the IOW serving cream teas we decided to see how good Chale Bay Farm was. Not your conventional 'farm' so beware you could pass it on the main road.The menu is simple and not too choosy - we had 2 large cream teas, 1 normal and my daughter had the chocolate cake with pots of tea. We were given the choice of plain or fruit scones to which we had both. The waitress brought everything together and we were not disappointed, good sized home made scones were fresh out of the oven, plenty of clotted cream and enough jam to sink a battleship. All were consumed - nothing left, hit the spot.We live in India so this was a gem for us to enjoy. We will be going back .

We went there today with our two daughters, and sat in the garden as it was lovely and hot, wow what a sun trap! Service was amazing, really attentive with the children. Ordered sandwiches and a cream tea. The cream tea arrived with two warm freshly baked scones and two huge pots of clotted cream and strawberry jam, the scones tasted lovely and really fresh! If it wasn't our last day today we would definitely visited again. Sandwiches were freshly made and the girls had ice-cream. Overall I would highly recommend this tea room.

We indulged in the 'Cream Tea' which was really lovely, freshly baked scones with butter and plenty of cream and jam in individual ramekins. We sat outside in the garden area, enjoying the sunshine, comfortable seating both inside and out.

On a cold blustery day, after doing an 8 mile walk, my friend and I chanced upon the tea rooms. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We waited a short while whilst the scones were baking, and were delighted with the lovely light fresh scone, with mouth-watering jam and clotted cream, not to mention the splendid choice of teas. A lovely cream tea, at a reasonable price, in a pretty tearoom, with good toilet facilities and beautiful view. We will definitely return on our next visit to the Island

We visited The Chale Bay Farm as a group of Disabled and carers. On arrival the owner met us and advised us that they were closed for cream teas, but if we just wanted a tea or coffee he would open for us. I thought this was very kind. We had a very nice tea and coffee and some cake all reasonable priced. The setting is beautiful and the gardens very good. Well worth a visit .The Farm also is a Bed and Breakfast and that looked very nice as well. I will be taking others back in the Summer.

This was our fitst visit so we turned up not knowing what to expect. We were greeted by a very welcoming smile by the young lady who was waitressing. We explained that we had a dog who was nervous and asked if we could sit outside. With a smile we were taken outside to a lovely courtside setting. The young lady was very kind and fetched our dog a large bowl of fresh clean water. We had a delicous cream tea for two which was plentiful and such a good price at £6.45 for 2 with a choice of plain or a fruited scone each and tea or coffee. There was plenty of jam & cream for us but you can pay slightly more and have a larger cream tea. We found the smaller serving to be adequate for us. The whole experience for us was relaxing and the customer service, food and overall ambience of the place was a fabulous experience for us. Thank you for such a lovely peaceful experience. We will definatley be coming back to see you and cannot wait to return. This place is speacial. Thank you xx

Went to a fabulous afternoon tea party here, the food was brilliant, great sandwiches scones and cake. The service was fantastic. Such a great atmosphere,made a rainy day bright and beautiful. Will remember it for a long time to come

We had a wonderful cream tea for two here. The scones arrived warm and crisp, with jam and cream (utterly delicious!). We sat out overlooking the downs and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Very well priced (£6.45) and the hostess was lovely. Well worth a trip.

What a beautiful place, sweeping views of Compton Bay from the car park. Had a look at a chalet being cleaned as we went through to reception, lovely room. Rooms surround a Japanese style courtyard with large fish pool, wooden bridge, water feature etc.Cream teas served in a sun trapped paved area, Tea superb with hot scones, lashings of clotted cream and jam, we followed up with icecream and cake. Will definitely return.Service excellent, when a couple arrived with two dogs a big container of water was provided immediatly.

I recently visited Chale Bay Farm with my family for an afternoon cream tea. I have to say I was very impressed. For £7.00 we received a pot of tea for 2 with 2 scones, clotted cream and Jam. The scones were cooked fresh and were still hot. There was more than enough cream and jam. The service was excellent. I definitely recommend this place to anyone. It is well worth a visit.

I didn't stay at the property but called in having spied the advertising from the road. The chap strimming the garden was extremely helpful when he advised me to move my car from the position I was about to leave it as he didn't want any stones or chippings flying up and damaging the paintwork. How thoughtful and "thank you" for bothering to mention it. I ordered a cream tea and it was absolutley delicious! The fruit scones were fresh, warm and very tasty. There was plenty of butter, jam and cream and a good pot of tea. Genna was extremely pleasant and efficient. If I have to return to the island and have to stay at amy time in the future, based on my experience here, this will be my first choice. Just one thing - could you put a few more tubs with plants or flowers in the courtyard please?

The generous serving of jam and cream puts other places to shame. The scones are available in two useful sizes and are done to perfection. Highly recommended!

What a delight this was the most fantastic cream tea. The scones were delicious plenty of jam and cream and at such a reasonable price. The tables and cloths were sparklingly cream. We had a fabulous time.

We had a lovely tea and scones at Chale Bay Farm, lovely surroundings and excellent service. The scones were home made and fresh, a good size with "Daddy Scones" also an option! Served with Cornish Clotted Cream and jam on the side, a lovely afternoon treat, I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Fantastic guest house go for the slightly more expensive rooms as you get a sea view which is well worth it. You can actually see all the way to the needles at the far end of the Island on a clear day. Free wi fi, big telly in the rooms and a nice owner make the place an excellent bet. I will re visit at some point.

O dear what a disappointment, I had bought tickets previously for 3 Cream Tea's through a promotion running on an island web site. I thought that it would be a good opportunity to try out the local goodies on offer, so treated 2 of my friends to a well earned afternoon out. We could't have chosen a worse day weather wise but remained optimistic. On arrival the farm ticked all the right boxes, well sign posted, good size car park, lovely grounds and the entrance to the tea room was faultless. We were shown to a table and asked politely what we wanted. We had to wait a short time because the scones were still in the oven........O lovely, I thought, visualising a wonderful treat before me. The tea arrived and the scones and thats where the excitement ended. 1 small Scone and the tiniest teaspoon of clotted cream with jam to match. Now by no means am I greedy but ahhhhh what a shame, I've had cream tea's before and all of them had been most generous but I'm sorry this one was a let down. For the cost of an extra scone to add that wow factor, would be a very small price to pay............. and customers would come back time and time again!
