Great place for a nice breakfast. Great place to transfer from the local train to the express train to London. Nice ladies in the service, coffee is excellent and the eggroll was great. And all newspapers in stock. 👍

The Ladies toilets at the station were closed for repair. Having just missed a train after a long walk from Wrabness, I was in need of the loo. The unhelpful women in the buffet, who was well aware the station toilets were out of action, said the buffet toilets were for customers only and I couldn't use them unless I bought something!!

This stop makes my day to London all the better. You're always greeted with a friendly smile, serving hot coffee and quite frankly the best bacon rolls ever. You'd be a fool not visit and take advantage of the coffee and roll deal. Also they serve alcoholic beverages too but at 08:00 in the morning that's a bit early for me but not for all so take a look.

This is not really a restaurant - it is a combination of small cafe and small pub. It does not offer a full menu of meals, just freshly made bacon or sausage sandwiches in the mornings and packed sandwiches, pasties, cake, etc all day. It serves tea and coffees and offers vegan oat milk as an alternative to dairy. Beer, cider, etc are severd during licensing hours. My bacon sandwiches were very tasty, a welcome breakfast having got the train this far after arriving at Harwich on the ferry. There is outdoor and indoor seating: in the outdoor seating it is sometimes hard to find anywhere which is not close downwind of a smoker.

A good place for bacon sandwiches in the morning or a pint in the evening. I often call in when using the ferry to or from Holland, changing here between the main line trains to and from London and the local train to Harwich. Non-smokers may sometimes find they have to sit inside due to a lot of smokers in the outside seats.

What’s not to like here. There are few few station platform buffets left these days where you can also get a beer. The Manningtree offering has a good selection of beer and a couple of local ales on too (£4.50 for a pint of ale at time of writing). Butties were advertised at £4 including a hot drink which seemed great value, although I didn’t indulge. You can’t knock being able to finish a pint and step onto your train within seconds. The staff were friendly too and there are outside seats if it’s a nice day where you can watch the trains. Worth waiting until the next train just to stop by. Perfect to step onto the train when it arrives too!

The advertised bacon roll and hot drink took our fancy but we were disappointed that the service was so slow that we were worried it would not be ready before our train arrived. Six of us from all over the country met up in Harwich for the weekend. After finding some fantastic pubs we suddenly became hungry. We chanced upon Pieseas Chippy but it was near closing time and the staff were clearing up. Expecting to be turned away we asked if we could have 6 lots of fish and chips (with 4 mushy and 2 gravy). No problem, They were happy to oblige and cooked our order from fresh. The fish and chips were delicious! While waiting we had a great laugh with the lady doing the frying. She even got one of us to sing a sea shanty. Many thanks for looking after us and making us so welcome. We went on to have a brilliant weekend and left the old town with fond memories.

Went for first time today. Had the roast beef dinner but unfortunately couldn't eat the meat as it was so tough. Could hardly cut let alone eat it. Yorkshire also tough. My partner had same problem. Also we had to share a small portion of veg. Should have realised when we arrived that we were not going to have a good experience as at 1.30pm there was no one else in the restaurant and it was a Sunday. Needless to say will not go again.

When we stood at the door, I wouldn't have gone in without Google Maps. It looked very small and cramped and seemed a bit like a bar only. However, when we did ask, we were sent to the back and up the stairs to end up in a really rustic, cozy guest room where other guests were already sitting and eating. The very friendly and helpful lady of the house was a little under the weather, but did her best to serve us quickly. We had three rump steaks with pepper sauce and a burger for the youngest. We were all wonderfully satisfied, it tasted really good. I had a bit of a lot of tendon with my piece of meat, but the other two steaks were flawless. It was a nice end to our vacation in England!

Take away cod and chips, maybe the best chips I've had from a chippy, huge portion even though only ordered medium. Bought in person and took them to eat overlooking the sea. Have to assume other reviewers who said chips were hard had them delivered as ours were perfectly cooked. Only gave 3 stars for atmosphere as not really relevant for a chippy.
