Manillas in Pembrokeshire

I’m truly disappointed to be writing this, especially since we've been loyal customers of Manila’s for many years, even before the café opened. Unfortunately, during our recent visits, we've encountered a staff member who has been consistently unkind, dismissive, and, frankly, quite rude. This behaviour has left us feeling patronised and upset. Additionally, we purchased a cake that appeared to have mold on it, but when we raised our concern, we were told it was just the way it was supposed to look. Despite this, no offer of a refund or replacement was made. Sadly we won’t be returning again.

Went for coffee and cake and ended up having food too, was not disappointed. Pulled pork and stuffing plait was exceptional. Onto the cakes- what a choice. I highly recommend the cheesecake. Coffee was gorgeous and if it wasn't so late we would have had another. Staff were helpful, polite and very friendly. Will certainly be back, thank you to all involved.

ABSOLUTELY APPALLING ! The customer service was diabolical followed by a malicious act imo. I took my drink back because it was cold-which they were not too pleased about, replaced it deliberately with a scolding hot one Which was not fit for consumption.

Awful service. Horrible atmosphere. Rude staff. I went in with my new born and the lady served me said I wasn't allowed to look at the cakes as customers were sat near them and I had to look at the menu only! For the price of them thats ridiculous! And we have a right to look at what we want to buy! Won't be going there again. They have now lost 12 customers through me now! The lady even sarcastically said 'bye when I decided to leave after she was so rude to me. Not a nice experience with a new born baby when its hard enough to get out as it is.

We have been to Manillas twice recently. Staff were rude and off hand both times we visited. Not very impressed to be honest!

We took our friend who is in a wheelchair. There are 2 doors, one with a difficult ramp and one with an easy ramp. When I went in to ask if we could use the easy ramp I was told 'no thats for takeaways only'. I explained the wheelchair is manual and we aren't very strong. Bearing in mind its all the same room, no one was waiting (it was half empty) and tables are right there ready to be used. Again the staff said 'its takeaway or nothing'!! It took 3 of us to lift the chair in! Very strange atmosphere, it felt like they had all just had an argument and the tone of voice and attitude towards us was borderline aggressive. When we realised how dirty it was as well we decided never again. Shame its a great setting. Guess where we had to walk through to pay!!?

Just had an amazing bacon and egg tomato sauce in a large crusty roll with a cup of latte. Very very tasty. Loverly place Steve lorry.

Visited this venue with friends for Breakfast, on arrival the service was excellent shown to a table by very friendly staff and nothing was to much trouble, being a fussy picky eater, our server assured me my requests for crushed Avacodo Smoked Salmon, Scrambled Eggs and Butery Toast would be fine,well oh my days it was delicious, my colleagues had full cooked breakfast which was fab, thank you Team Manillas we shall return 10/10 'x

this was our first time at the Manillas and it certainly won't be our last. the staff were efficient and friendly, despite being busy .... serving us quickly with our food of sausages in delicious soft, crusty bread rolls. I had a really good coffee with oat milk served in a generous mug, and my partner had an excellent large hot chocolate ..... so good that he ordered another one when we had cake! the quality of the food was really good at a very reasonable price and the cafe itself was clean and tidy...... as was the toilet (in my opinion always a good indication of a decent well run cafe). we found the owner/manager Philip to be very friendly and he thanked us for our custom before we left.

After having a lovely family walk with our dog we decided to pop in and have an ice cream. This was our second trip to Manilla’s and the customer service was terribly poor the first time we went, so we thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt the second time. The man who served us was insistent that we payed for our ice cream before we could even see what we wanted. My mother asked what flavours were available and the man just barked the price again, and more times after that. Also he didn’t list the ice cream flavours for us like in other ice cream places. He just stood there holding the card machine which made us feel very uncomfortable. Eventually when he did lift the cover off, we’d already payed for the ice creams and he immediately assumed that we would have all had cones., mum and myself wanted tubs. Not sure if a tube is the same price as a waffle cone? Whilst he scooped the first tub, my mother who is deaf wanted to use the toilet, there was a barrier to stop you from entering the cafe side which she wasn’t allowed to use which was fine as she went around the outside to reach the cafe toilet inside, the man was going to give us chocolate ice cream for mum, I know she normally has mint chocchip (which they didn’t have) or vanilla. I said I will need to confirm which one she was having as I didn’t know, I tried calling mum over the barrier but she didn’t hear me as she’s deaf. The man rudely told me she wanted chocolate. I did go and find out from mum, it was vanilla. When I got back to the counter and told him vanilla, he replied good job I didn’t give her chocolate then with a sarcastic passive aggressive attitude. The whole experience was very unpleasant. I’m very sorry to have to write this but I hope they can learn from this and maybe rethink their approach to customer service.

Nice coffee and cake, but the reason for 1 star, The staff were so miserable it was like they had all argued. We had ordered our coffee tea and a cake and when it came at 350 they decided to tell us they shut at 4. They were cleaning the tables and spraying the cleaning products all over the sugar cubes. I couldn’t believe it.

We had breakfast here more than once while spending time in the area. Service was impeccable, staff polite and obliging and the food was first class! Made to order so the small wait was justified. Wonderful to have a pot of tea and the americano coffee not only tasted divine; it was in a decent sized cup! Ambience was very welcoming with locals and tourists adding to the mix. Plenty of space inside and out for family groups and if you have your furry friend in tow - there is water outside where you need to sit as they aren’t allowed inside. All in all highly recommended!

If heaven has a cafe it would be modeled on this one. After being very unwell for a week and have no appetite at all, my hu by and I decided to go to MANILLA. cause I live the food. It was definitely the right choice. I ordered a jacket potato with a cesar sauce salad, and hubby his usual a rustic roll with cheese. his favourite. when the meals came my jaw dropped the jacket potato was huge and so full of the most amazing roasted veg and absolutely gorgeous tasting ingredientswith the fabulous cesar sauce and crispy onions, you couldn't even see it. it was served with really good tortilla crisps, coleslaw, sun dried Tomatoes, more beautiful tasting roasted veg, beetroot and a very tasty salad in a lovely dressing. I have no idea how the make their food but the flavours are absolutely crazy good. just a little heat here and there and absolute treat to eat. I was moaning with the joy of eating the wonderful food. I failed to eat it all but had a real good go at it. First food I'd eaten in four days. My husband has a huge piece of dark chocolate fudge cake. Oh my goodness he physically melted when he tried that and soon ate every bit of it.The service is second to none. Phillips and Anna came to make sure all was OK. It was more than OK it was absolutely perfect. The whole menu is a delight with so many vegetarian options, but like nothing I've ever tasted before finding this wonderful piece of heaven on earth. I wholeheartedly recommend this place if you love fantastic food. P.s. The café itself is so lovely with a great veiw too. unfortunately I was so busy thoroughly enjoying my meal I totally forgot to take photos.

Had a superb lunch here today! Only had an hour as my friend had to return to work, but service was fast and friendly. Menu was good, especially worthy of praise was the daily specials options... So unusual and imaginative. Refreshing to have something other than the usual jacket potato or sandwich options u get anywhere! We both chose something from that and we were both impressed with our choices! By far the best lunch I've had out by far! Would definitely recommend and will be returning! Well done guys! 😊X

We travel a few miles to take coffee here, and would no doubt travel much further, as it is the best coffee in Pembrokeshire, made expertly. The food options are varied, very tasty and give the impression a lot of effort is put into each individual dish.

The location is to die for and the breakfast is nice with all you can ask for and hot chocolate is nice also. Ice Cream is nice and lot of varieties

Amazing location right on the marina food was lovely coffee was nice and our waitress Elinor was so lovely and polite and was so happy in her job whilst being run off her feet keep up the great work thank you we will be back

God forbid if you walk in the side door and ask for a table (apparently this is the unadvertised take away entrance only!) We got marched to the other door before being shown to a table. The coffee and cake is great just very unfortunate the staff are grumpy and borderline rude. They could advertise as a 'Karren Cafe' at least then you'd expect poor service and rude staff instead of it coming as a shock.

This place offers really lovely food, but the staff all appear to hate their job. I think if they had perhaps training which made then a bit more approachable & smiled then this cafe would be 5 star

We are regular visitors to Manillas and love the family run atmosphere. It does get very busy but if you book in advance it’s never a problem, I love the character of the decor - very mix & match but it works. The coffee is divine and the food is always delicious & we’ve never had to wait too long for service. The majority of the staff are friendly, smiling and give us a warm welcome. As for the cakes 😋 yummy yummy - definitely worth a try with lots of different flavours to choose.

My wife and I called into this establishment for a late lunch. The weathr was quite inclemant and as such the outside seat was not available. As a rsult the inside was very busy. Despite this we were quickly seated. The service was efficient and polite. When our food arrive I was extremely suprised at the amount of handcut boiled ham I had in by roll. Similarly my wife's tuna roll was very well packed. Will defnitely revisit though hopefully the weather will be better.

The food was lovely, but the staff and service left a lot to be desired. We booked in advance being Easter weekend, but when we arrived, we were told the reservation had been made for 2 guests, not 3. We had definitely made it for 3 because, again, we knew it would be busy. The food was nice, but it took over 45 minutes to come. To the point my boyfriend went and asked where it was because tables that had arrived after us had had their food. The young girl serving us was incredibly rude and abrupt. Everything was an inconvenience for her. The older man, who I assume is the "manager", was beyond rude. No manners, please or thank you, incredibly snappy and short tempered with guests as well as staff. Snarky and snide comments were far from needed and just generally made us feel uncomfortable. Also referring to the younger, female, members of the team as "honey" in front of a restaurant full of people was extremely unprofessional.

Lovely location. £7 for a cappacino & toasted tea cake with jam. I would’ve preferred to put my own jam on, but it came with it already on. The waitress was rude and certainly didn’t want to be there. Our group all ordered and paid separately at the take out door and they all remarked at how sullen the waitress was. I wouldn’t rush back unfortunately.

Seeking coffee and a cake, but surly welcome , not allowed to look at cakes, so went away. Similar welcome previously, so not a one-off. Nice setting on a sunny day.

Had a dog so had to eat outside which was fine. Ordered the ham salad £9.00 which I thought was ok price until the smallest box of food arrived absolute joke it had about 5 leaves and some salads all thrown in the box with a handful of shredded ham on top, that certainly didn’t match the description on the menu. Nice venue but shame about portion and presentation of the food.

Have visited here several times and enjoyed every visit. On our most recent visit, Mothers Day, we arrived close to closing and were seating by a welcoming team of staff. The staff were very friendly and interacted brilliantly with my 11 month old boy, the daughter of the owner then gifted him a cup of cream. I thought this was extremely sweet and our experience here was really lovely. I had a chai latte which was delicious and cherry chocolate cake, which was also extremely good. Nothing nicer than seeing a family run business work together as a team. We will be back!

So rude Have visited twice over the past couple months and found owner so rude. Went inside to have a look at cakes on display and on board and was quickly ushered outside and told to go order via side hatch. One visit and being rude can happen, but second occasion is just not on. Strangely he knew people on table next to us and was nice as pie to them. Made us feel unwelcome so decided to leave Need to respect customers

Slow service, even though the place was very quiet , staff seemed disinterested we finished our main and had to go and order our sweet at the counter even though it was apparently table service, not a great experience as I had heard it was better than this .Very disappointed won't be hurrying back

Well what a fantastic welcome, and service despite the fact that they were so busy! Loved my bacon roll! Beautiful artisan bread, very special. Lovely setting will definitely return. Table service non existent !! They got no idea on how to serve paying customers after a long wait to be served they served others who arrived after you! Rude waitresses and no atmosphere. There are far better places in Pembrokeshire Avoid if you can

My daughter and I had an excellent lunch at Manillas, fabulous salad (not just a few leaves and half a cherry tomato), beautiful warm homemade quiche. Service was excellent and we bought some delicious cakes to take home for tea. Would highly recommend and will definitely be revisiting..

Popped in after a walk, we didn't want anything too big, so decided on a tea cake & teas. The staff were so rude, I asked if we could have a little dish of jam on the side as opposed to spread on the teacakes, you would have thought I had asked for them to cook me a 3 course Christmas meal, the look of disgust on her face, at this simple request was unbelievable. We all live locally and often do that Neyland walk, but we will never go to this cafe again.

My second visit here and it’s definitely going to become one of my regulars. After a walk along the cycle path at Neyland such a great place to stop for coffee and homemade cakes. People are lovely and the cafe is very warm and welcoming. The cakes are the best in Pembrokeshire lol, sumptuous 🍰 Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to eat

Fantastic cafe for breakfast and coffee but they really outdid themselves with their Greek theme night. Fantastic food, great service, lovely twinkly fairy lights adding to the atmosphere. Definitely Ned to do it more often!

Stopped for a coffee and a filled roll whilst out walking the dog. The idea was just to grab an go ( you can sit outside with the dg, but not inside). However we did actually sit for a few mins and it was worth taking some time out. Coffee was quality and the filled chicken roll made was freh and delicious. Real treat, will be there again.

Staff were superb, very friendly and chatty and made you feel welcomed! Service was quick, drinks were lovely. The cake selection is fantastic - lots of variety, all very tempting to say the least! We chose the choc fudge cake and rocky road and they were divine! Very rich in flavour and super tasty. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely location and nice atmosphere. We chose from the Specials board and had the Chicken and Brie rustic roll, which was served with a pickle noodle salad. The roll was massive and the salad unusual (not sure I’d choose this again) . The chicken was large chunks which was a little difficult in a roll. Cappuccino was just right. 4 stars because there is only one choice of roll (Rustic white) and you haven’t an indoor dog friendly area.

I visit Manillas often & last night had the pleasure of attending the Mediterranean Tapas night. The food was fresh, every dish (all 13!!) was delicious & the atmosphere was both buzzing yet intimate. Service was friendly & wonderfully paced. I am very fussy & don't leave reviews unless everything was superb & the whole team did not disappoint. Booked in for next week's Mexican night & can't wait. So lovely to have these themed evenings in the darker months - well done everyone!

We eat at Manillas quite often and the food is always interesting, well cooked and tasty. We were excited to try an evening out at their Mediterranean Tapas Night and it didn’t disappoint. So much delicious food which just kept on coming! We had such a great night and will definitely be back for another themed evening.

Stopped in for lunch. Stood at the sign saying please wait to be seated for a few minutes. As there was plenty of tables, we went to sit down. The girl came over, told us it was table service and she would be back. She brought us some menus, and started to tell us what her favourites were. We gave our order. We were told while we were waiting, if we could go onto Facebook, and have a giggle at some of the bad reviews they had. She reccomend that we leave a review, and to take some pics of the food, but only to leave a good review....?. I ordered the teriyaki pulled pork which came with jacket potato, coleslaw and salad. All very nice and tasty, but im convinced it was pulled gammon! . Whilst taking the order of the table next to us, she was reccomending her favourites to them. I overheard her saying that i had ordered the pulled pork, and by the looks of it , i was enjoying it! I didn't think she was very professional at all. She wasn't appropriately dressed for serving the food, with a strapless top on, all upper arms exposed! She was quite pushy, wanting us to leave a good review. The food was nice, but the lady who served us wasnt very professionally, very pushy, and confident in herself! Telling us that she was good at her job 😕

Manillas' Restaurant at Brunel Quay is a hub in the Brunel Quay Community. The lunch menu offers both its Specials as well as its standard menu that are both reasonably priced. Anna, the Cook will be quite happy to prepare a dish to your liking....

Today we were looked after by Eleanor who was charming and efficient,making the visit,as always a really pleasant experience. Nicest chicken or ham salad we have had in a long time, home cooked ham or marinated chicken, couscous, beetroot salad, coleslaw, marinated tomatoes, potato salad, rice salad and spinach leaves, plenty of it and really delicious. Lovely looking cakes for dessert, will definitely call back again and takeaway too! £8 each, What a find !

The food from Manillas is great and the deserts are delicious. Sadly the male owner came across as very rude. (Other members of staff were very polite)

We've been coming here for over 18months.Phill and all the staff always give a warm welcome,often spoiling my grandson.The food is always amazing and the gluten free options always give the wife a tough decision as to what to eat.During the summer the outside seating area over looks the marina and the cheddar Bridge.Overall a very friendly,fantastic place for a quick coffee or a get together and meal.Cannot recommend the place enough
