Really nice decor and ambience. Staff very pleasant. But... Latte was too small, and not hot enough. Spiced tea tasted like hot water laced with chilli powder. NY Sausage sandwich was no better than you'd get in a greasy café.. arguably worse - bread was over-toasted, sausages were too salty and not great quality. Not sure what was 'NY' about it...?

Right, this is constructive criticism - not a complaint per se, please read. First Impressions, looks like a decent place to eat. However, there are no menus on the tables so you don’t know whether to go to ask for one, or wait twiddling your thumbs for someone to come over. Secondly, a glass of orange juice is £4.50… really? I mean if it was hand squeezed, then maybe it would be justifiable. Thirdly the full breakfast - I read that the breakfast comes with back bacon… not measly bits of streaky wafer thin bacon. The eggs were OK, but not what you’d expect from a good restaurant. Overall the breakfast was good, however, cheaping out on food and selling drinks at extortionate prices is not something that customers are going to want to return for.

Excellent little coffee shop in Cotteridge with friendly and attentive staff and a wide range of drinks with food options too. I will definitely visit again, you have to try the salted caramel milkshake 😉

This is was my first time here and it went really great. The atmosphere is nice, decorations are unique, and the music is great. It was not crowded and the internet speed was good. I enjoyed a cup of coffee and I will definitely visit again.

Was looking for a nice local cafe I could take my laptop to and do some work from - so glad I found this place! Perfect, peaceful vibe at that time of day (Monday afternoon) that I was looking for. Lovely decor and friendly, helpful staff. My chai latte was delicious and beautifully presented. I didn’t try the food but the cakes and pastries on display looked really good. My only criticism was the temperature - it was a really cold winter day so I had lots of layers on and still didn’t feel that warm. I noticed the other visitors to the cafe didn’t take their coats off. I’ve experienced this in other restaurants/cafes of late…. I guess everyone is conscious of their heating bills right now :-( . Despite this I will definitely be back and 100% recommend this as a lovely place to visit.

Welcoming Atmosphere, very chilled out. Friendly attentive service. Awesome coffee and hot chocolate. So much better than Starbucks, Nero and Costa. The cakes are debine too. They have a brunch and lunch menu also. Definitely 💯 worth the visit, and I will be coming back. Dog friendly and a perfect place to sit and work on lap top, meet up with friends or sit watching the world go by on your own, with soothing jazz playing in the background. I’ve been to this cafe 3 times now and had a great experience. Delicious food and friendly staff. Definitely the tastiest food for brunch in Birmingham. Plus, it’s a dog friendly that is always a bonus. Highly recommended.

Came here with a friend for a catch up and it was lovely the food and service was amazing. Would definitely visit again, only slight change I would make is for them to have a children’s food menu to order some smaller portions of things. But that’s all. Would definitely recommend

Had a nice lunch here last week pieceful with nice low volume music on great touch for the atmosphere inside. Great decor inside with the tables and chairs nice for a pit stop or somewhere to read a book.

We've been in a few times for take-away drinks and always thought the menu looked nice. Today we decided to visit for lunch. Manhattan 70s is a great little place, nicely decorated and with a relaxed vibe. My wife had the hero sandwich, which the staff customised to her liking, and I had the mezze, while we waited we had a peach cooler and white americano respectively. My mezze had a good mix of food; a Greek salad, hummus, yoghurt, falafal and accompanied with flatbread, it was delicious. All very fresh and just the right amount for a lunch. My wife's hero sandwich was equally tasty and served with a fresh salad. If you're in Cotteridge it's definitely a place to consider over the chain outlets, the food at Manhattan 70s is much better and you'd be supporting a local business.

It's such a nice place. Went in on my own for the first time for a Latte whilst I waited for a MOT to be done. Lovely environment, and it seemed clean and well kept. Wasn't expecting to pay £3.50 for what appeared to be a small cup. But it was nice. Next time, I'll probably get a Costa coffee to get more for less, but overall, it was nice.

Adore this place, a gem in Cotteridge. Delightful food, particularly excellent for brunches, from an extensive menu that offers something just a little different to the norm. Drinks are quite pricey but worth it to support a local independent cafe. I'm moving away from the area soon and will miss Manhattans.

We have been to a lot of coffee shops around the city , this location was hands down the best one we’ve ever been to. It has the freshest ingredients and everything we ordered was delicious. Not to mention we had the best service by the kind and friendly staff VENUS👌.I think she was a new staff. She was very fast and caring. The best customer service ever. I’m so impressed. Was starting to think great customer service was dying but got the pleasure of going to this place and what a pleasant experience. Thought I would try this place and was really disappointed. They are trying to sell themselves as upmarket and failing miserably. The quality of the food does not reflect the price. The breakfast was overpriced and was the worst I have ever had. The inside of the sausage was burnt as the photo shows. The bacon was very small and super thin. Eggs were like rubber. Bread tasted cheap. Overall, it just wasn't very nice. The coffee was ok and the place looks really nice but I will not be visiting again.

First time visiting, the staff were not friendly, very dull atmosphere, over priced drinks. Wasn't asked if everything is OK, Very poor customer service. Will not go again. £15 for 2 milkshake/2 toast.

The place looks lovely inside and the food is great. I had the vegan breakfast which was simply the best vegan breakfast I have ever had! Then the carrot cake which was fantastic. Coffee is good too. Highly recommended.

I have been visiting this cafe for several years. The atmosphere is great and having lived in NYC myself I can say the staff have really managed to capture the vibe of Manhattan in far away Cotteridge. The food is tasty and the menu offers variety from the usual local options. The staff are always friendly especially to my 5 yo daughter who has joined my visits over the years. She can now recognise jazz music thanks to Manhattan 70’s!

I come here regularly, often to do some work alongside a coffee (or three!) and I can honestly say I LOVE this place. There is a great vibe here, aided in no small part by the jazz and blues music playing through the speakers. The proprietors have clearly gone all-out with the decor, too - as you enter, your eyes are drawn towards the art deco mural of the Statue of Liberty on the back wall; on the side walls there are photographs of New York City through various eras. The coffee is excellent, and if, like me, you can't drink milk, there are lots of dairy alternatives available. They serve a wide choice of both coffee and tea, which is always beautifully served. Food-wise, I have only had the soup of the day, but that is delicious, and very filling, too (they don't skimp on the portions, unlike some places). The blueberry and almond cake is also to die for. I know it sounds like I am gushing - I am, because I love this place and want it to do amazingly well! It is far and away the best cafe in the south of Birmingham - definitely visit if you're in the area.

The venue is great...theres a really good choice on the menu. I ordered 1 thing and got another !!! (I was dealing with a problem on my phone so didnt realise) and was hungry. Also their prices aren't very well located, so £15 + later for a (not a) scrambled egg/avocado/salmon on sour bread and an oat latte was quite a price tag.

I went there again yesterday and me and my friend enjoyed an interesting conversation with the lady behind the till while waiting for the coffee. The place has such a peaceful vibe and we stayed for more than we planned just because we felt so good by the coffee, the food and the loving service we received. Stepping off a busy shopping street into Manhattan 70s you enter a fabulous space. Cosy bare-bulbed lighting tinting terracotta brickwork, stylish photography on the walls and the coffee bar displaying a variety of generously-sized cakes that sort of draw you to the counter (!). Add the soothing piano jazz and you feel the stresses of life lifting off you. The seating is comfy and the tables are substantial, with excellent leg room. The menus for both drinks and food are varied and extensive. The serving sizes of both are very generous and represent good value for money. The coffee is rich, the coolers are dazzlingly refreshing and the flavours in the food make your taste buds work overtime - in a very good way. Personal favourites are the Hot Bistro, the chai latte (with real spices hand-ground in a pestle and mortar, no less!) and the cinnamon bun. Add the friendly, attentive staff and you have a very strong case for making a return visit.

I am a regular hear and also my mom and we love the food hear, that attention to detail on the presentation of the food is excellent quality.Also the taste of the food is excellent,my favourite is SHAKSUKA from main menu it's fantastic!!!
