I lived and worked in Thailand for 3 months years ago and my love for Thai food never waned. I was very excited to get a table in this restaurant and ordered the duck spring roll with rice. While in Harrods food hall my wife and I tried this counter for lunch. The restaurant is packed into a small space in the corner of the food hall so you sit on stools and eat from a counter top. Not terribly comfortable, but appropriate for the location. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is exceptionally good. We had the dim sum platter and vegetarian spring rolls. Perfect steamed delicacies. We drank the fragrant jasmine green tea. This was not cheap, but provided an excellent light lunch.

We found the dim sum at Mango Tree to be great. I used to eat at the same place for many years when it was the Harrods' own dim sum bar, and it has not gone downhill since then. Yes, the prices are higher than average when you decide to eat inside the store, and you do pay for the 'Harrods experience' - please note, though, that this will be true in every single eatery in the store. Please know in advance that you'll pay around £4 for a cola, and then make your decision as to whether you want to eat there or not - the prices aren't hidden. The service was great, and we tried three dim sums to share between two of us - note that the menu will tell you how many pieces (either 2, 3, or 4) per dim sum dish you get - you can then select those that seem the better value ones according to your tastes. The Vietnamese chicken spring roll was really lovely as it clearly had chicken breast meat. Our other two selections were the spicy duck steamed dumpling, and the barbecue pork buns. Personally I loved it and will return.

I expect that if a restaurant charges almost 40 pounds for a lunch special consisting of seven two inch dim sum, that I should be in for an interesting, if not amazing experience. Instead, it was actuallty hard to tell one dim sum from another. The tastes were all jumbled together. The quality was better suited to a fast food restaurant. It was edible. The only thing memorable about this lunch was the tab. 80 pounds. We drank nothing more than water.

It wasn't my choice to try this place but it didn't stop me from feeling disappointed. The food was ridiculously expensive and absolutely nothing special at all. There was just one dim sum dish I thought was good, but I can't remember what it was now so it couldn't have been that fantastic after all. The ramen were really poor - a lot of broth with not much in it and very little flavour. The stools are very low and the hooks under the table aren't very good. The waitress seemed completely unable to look at us when we were speaking to her and always had to be looking at something else. Apart from being very rude it just seemed so forced like she was doing it deliberately for reasons that only she knows. We also had to chase some dishes when they didn't appear. A really poor experience. There's got to be somewhere better to eat in Harrods.

It was simple convenience that brought us to The Mango Tree in Harrods. We went for the three course menu at £48 a head. Tom yum to start, which was okay but lacked flavour. A salad, which needed more dressing and then a split of the chicken and duck mains. Both of which where okay. Topped with an excellent glass of champagne for £18 a glass. With service charge we came out at just over £150 which is a lot for an average Thai meal, but it is in Harrods. Very good service.Wouldn't race back.

While shopping at Harrods, boyfriend and I stopped at Mango Tree for a quick lunch break. Mango Tree is asian fusion with an emphasis on dim sum that they say is made fresh daily by a Hong Kong dim sum master. I really liked the feeling of sitting at the "bar" of an open kitchen where we could watch the chef at work and our servers within arm's reach. While waiting for two seats to open up, the hostess took our order so that once we were sat, our food was ready and ready it was. Our servers were courteous and efficientWe ordered the blooming jasmine flower tea served in a clear glass tea kettle for two. I found the tea quite tasty and LOVED the tea set and watching the flower bloom, so pretty. I asked if the tea set was available for purchase at Harrods and while the servicegirl admitted it was, she recommeded I check out an asian tea shop in chinatown as it would be much cheaper. Loved her for that! I started with the Prawn and Pork Wonton soup (8.50) which arrived three small dumplings in a small bowl in a clear broth. Although small, the soup was tasty nonetheless. We also ordered a few dim sum dishes since the dumplings were mostly served in threes. We ordered the prawn dim sum (7.95), Inside soup dumpling dim sum (19.50), and spare rib dumpling (7.50). Dumplings were yummy but with the pound kicking the dollars butt, our check total without tip amounted to 60something pounds or roughly $100something USD and I don't know about you but I can get a shitload of dim sum for the kind of money here in the states (holla Chinatown NYC or Arlington VA) and it probably tastes just as or even more delicious and authentic. But at least we can say we ate lunch at Harrods! Their food court and options sure beats any food court here in the states.

Seriously?! A super tiny plate (the size of Chinese dim sum dish) of steamed vegetable cost 13.9 pounds???!!! 3 veggie dumplings cost 9 pounds???!!! But quality is jus sooooo so-so?! If such a Thai restaurant opened in HK or anywhere in Asia will be forced by public to close on the first day! I was shocked when i saw such small dish of veggie, because NORMAL Thai dish comes with big plate, not to mention with such a price. Two HK women sitting next to me who came after me also orders the same dish, they had the exact shocking face as me when their tiny plate came too. Avoid Mango Tree in Harrods, it's such a waste of money! Plus mandatory 10% service charge, I paid 21 pounds having only 3 small average veggie dumplings and 4 small pat choi! I never experienced such robbery in any tourism city. With such price, I could at least eat at a decent restaurant with NORMAL amount or better quality of food. I would give ZERO rating but TripAdvisor doesn't have such option.

The doctors agreed that it was due to seafood and this was the only seafood we ate during our stay. We told the restaurant about the issue, however they would not discuss it further unless we had our receipt (how many people keep a receipt for lunch).Ruined a good holiday and cost us a lot of money from missed flights and tours.

After a hectic day at Harrods on a saturday, we just sat down here.Menu is ok, food is average, but prices are way too high. You sit by the counter with lot of waiters trying too push expensive things on you all the time.2 beer, 2 water, 1 starter and 3 mains 120£. For this venue with this food and service wayyy too much. We had a nice dinner yesterday at min jiang 3 people with half a duck, 2 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts, bottle of wine plus a beer. 170£Dont go, lots og other better and cheaper and nicer places

Excellent food and service , I would go for individual dishes and not the platters - they are expensive for what you get . Very good food though

Food was not too bad but i feel that the price was overpriced . Staff was friendly and place was ok. Had 3 dim sum and 2 wagyu pho noodles which cost around 100£.

We came here to have light dinner after strolling around Harrods. We ordered wonton soup, prawn dumplings, and prawn spring rolls. The food quality and taste were excellent, but it came with quite expensive price as well. Service was great and the place set up as a dim sum bar was just OK.

I've had lunch there 3 times already, and everything I've tried has been delicious, the two soups they have, pork dumplings, vegetarian, shrimp, all is amazing. The one I like to most, and always order 2 dishes, is the the duck fried spring roll with plumb sauce (I believe). It is very informal, it s just a bar at the food area, but the food is very very good. However, it is very very expensive too.

Similary restaurants in London

You would have thought that these type of 'restaurants' had disappeared with time, with people's better knowledge of 'exotic' cuisines and with an increasingly number of places - particularly in London - offering the real thing. Fitou's actually reminds those unfortunate people that decide to dine at its premises of those nasty, formica-laden, quick and dirty joints that were kind of popular in the UK about 20 years ago. 'Exotic' food to the British public was about ketchup on spaghetti or super hot tikka masalas, in short - together with kebabs - all that nasty food that was served to people leaving the pub rather inebriated and searching for something not to taste or enjoy, but food to numb their state of drunkenness. Apart from the nonchalant, 'who gives a ****' attitude of the 'staff', upon which people have commented here before, the food was disastrous. Unbelievable large amounts of oyster and soy sauce obliterating any taste. Ingredients on your plate indistinguishable from one other. Most concerning were all the mucky, charred bits obviously coming from the bottom of a pretty dirty wok, all to be seen on the plate served to you. God knows last time those woks were properly lined, let alone cleaned. Surely, looking at the customers there, Fitou's still gets away with it thanks to an audience that doesn't ask for any finesse, perhaps in life as well as when it comes to food. But this is properly ghastly food, an insult to Thai's cooking tradition, a sad reminder of a culture that thrives by disguising 'exotic' food and serving it as something else. Awful.
