Food was very disappointing. Maybe I got the days left overs. Chicken shwarma and lamb donner was very dry and chewy. The donner was more shwarma than donner itself. Extremely expensive for what it is. Their burgers are advertised as brisket, they were just burger van vibes. Next time I won’t be convinced by Matt food review club. He seems to just overhype everything.

I have had maybe a couple dozen takeaways from Mangal express over the period of about 5 years, every single one of them has been excellent. The staff are friendly and courteous, the premises clean, and the prices very reasonable. The shawarma is fantastic and the shish kebabs are always cooked perfectly; it is well worth the 12 mile round trip for me for something this good!

Order from here on the recommendation of food review club I cannot believe he gave it an 8.6 out of 10. Chips and the meat arrived in Polystyrene containers. The heat from the food started to melt the Polystyrene which resulted in the chips tasting of it too. No rice with the kebab even though it said on the menu. Salad is very disappointing, cheap, and looks near the end date. Meat was salty, chewy, fat and grease. no hot to the chilli sauce. Will not be going back.

Go for shish, the donner/schwarma is far too salty, overly chewy and greasy.

Lovely family run business taken over by two brothers from their father. Authentic and tasty Turkish food. Wide variety on the menu that has big platter options perfect for families. Would highly recommend this as a takeaway option especially for their delivery service which has always been very reliable and speedy.

I really don’t know where to start from, but I have been ordering delivery from this exquisite takeaway since last summer. Never failed me and I Also will like to add it’s like fine ageing wine, getting better as time goes on. The delivery driver which is the director of the business is a fine well mannered gentlemen. Was 45 minutes late cold and dry no sauces despite calling due to lateness and saying would put in extra sauces a dreadful meal. Rang up to complain apparently no chef or management available to complain to. Don’t waste ur money

The worst Lamb Doner meat I've ever had. Even the wild foxes would've turned their nose up to it. took two bites and had to throw it away. Full of fat and grisle... management need to taste the rubbish they're serving. Disappointing

I know this place has been in Billericay for years. For no real reason I'd never tried it until now though I'd heard many good reviews about it. We used it last night and were really impressed with the food. Excellent succulent chicken kebab meat that came with a large portion of rice and a salad. We also ordered some chips which also came in a very generous portion. Even the delivery guy was very polite and friendly. Highly recommended and I'm just sad I hadn't tried these guys before. It won't be too long til I try them again.

I love to pick up food from here on my way home from London. It is a 1 min walk from the station and I call when I am about to arrive in Shenfielld and order to go. They prepare the amazing food in 10 min. My favourite is the lamb kofta. But everything is good if you are a meat lover.

Yummy well seasoned food and excellent customer service. It is our go to place for family gatherings-they do excellent platters with lots of extras thrown in. Plus they always help carry the food to our car!

I am very much used to having delicious spicy kebabs in Germany, this kebab restaurant is very simple and delicious as it suppose to be!

Great kebabs and really friendly professional service, I usually order over the phone and collect approximately 20 minutes later. The food is always well cooked with good portion sizes and tastes great. The only thing that might be worth mentioning is that as a default they supply wraps not pita bread, so if like me you prefer the pita use ask when ordering and they are happy to swap it.

The title says it all really. This is our go to place whenever we want excellent authentic Turkish food to take away. If you order in advance and specify what you require the food will be ready for you.Portion sizes are magnificent and the service is excellent.

Mangal Express is leading the show in Billiricay with their unique authentic food topped with a pinch of a welcoming friendly service. This was a rare but diamond of a find for me. I used to travel by train to the University of Essex between 2012 and 2015. At the time, trains from London Liverpool Street to Colchester on weekends would stop at Billiricay and provide a coach journey for parts of the remaining journey. I was hungry one day on my way back to university and the coaches was uncomfortably full. Taking the decision to wonder around to grab a quick bite, I stumbled across Mangal Express. Many years later, now in 2019, I was driving past the area and thought to have another quick bite. I am extremely pleased to see the ownership and the taste of their food hasn't deteriorated over time. The standard and quality of their food belongs in Londons busiest high streets, its that good. Their prices are fair, a little on the cheaper side given the portions of their food. Their chicken and lamb shish would surpass most expectations. I have been there countless times and even after returning to Mangal Express after many years I'm yet to be disappointed. Matter of fact, from my previous visit, they have upgraded their packaging making it more environmentally friendly and a lot more pleasurable to eat from (compared to the standard kebab shops where they throw everything into a plastic container which just accumulates oil overtime). I recently went in their with a family relative and figured people fail to appreciate food and give credit where its due so I decided to write yet another extensive review. I hope those reading this take my review into consideration. . .

Got recommended this lovely place by family & friends and it did not disappoint!! The shop has a open planned layout clean and tidy with a cosy atmosphere which feels welcoming. As soon as you step in you’re suddenly struck with this amazing scent of barbecue which has you looking forward for your meal already. The staff are very polite and friendly, eager to serve you the best making you feel at comfort as you order and wait for your meal. They also do collection orders by phone which is great if you prefer not to wait. The Kebabs taste delicious, traditionally seasoned which are cooked to high standards served with fresh salad and generous portions. I’d recommend to try their doners as they’re one of the best I’ve had. I have to also mention there packaging is something else, top quality is what you get from a well established place. This place is an absolute gem and will definitely be returning as a regular.

I would like to say best take away shop in the area and its getter better, the staff are very kind and always have a conversation while i am waiting for my food, not to forget i dont wait for my food for that long, i love the halloumi and the cheesy chips, and shawarma, goes well on a friday night.

Decent food, don't take cards tho.. Which didn't on my last visit as the owner give me my food and said bring the cash in next time. 👍🏻

Thought we would try a different shish shop and used them twice this week and both times were not good. First time they 3 portions of halloumi out (£12) and second time I got my halloumi but it was sooo burnt it was inedible and the pitta wasn’t much better.

A couple of days ago, I had the chicken wings meal with fries, peppers/onions, and salad, and it was excellent. It cost a reasonable £9. The staff was also very friendly. The only downsides to this restaurant are: they only accept cash, there isn't much room to dine-in, and it seems that they don't offer any beef dishes.

Had a few Chicken Shish Kebab to take away you get rice salad and a wrap plus small pots of sauce.Food very tastype and fills you up

I ordered a halloumi kebab which came served on rice with peppers and onions and was delicious. It came with a small box of salad but the lettuce was a bit brown on the top. I used a spoon to place my halloumi into the flatbread provided and then spooned some lettuce and cucumber from the salad box into the flatbread only to find a long piece of plastic with a red line on it?Too far to go to take it back but I didn’t eat the salad and don’t really want to think where the piece of plastic came from. Only glad I saw it before maybe eating it.Usually really great but on this occasion not and has put me off returning.

Was in the neighbourhood and was keen on a kebab after being at the pub, and tried Mangal express rather than my usual choice of Menad as they were not doing takeaway for some reason. The whole experience was worthwhile and I told them I’d write a review as I had never been so welcomed by the friendly staff who enjoy engaging in conversation with people they’ve never met before. The owner even gave us one of his rice puddings which my wife loved when I got home (I have never really liked Rice Pudding) and she said it was the best ever, which I believe is homemade from the Owner himself! The food was then just as good as the service itself, they offer your kebab with rice or no rice, all for the same price as well, and you know it’s freshly cooked because the chef cooks it for you over the open grill and can even request for it to be cooked as you like. This place ticks all the boxes and I shall be going there next weekend again. I feel like I shall be visiting more often than not as a result.

Best kebab I've had in London, let alone Billericay. Customer service was great and the workers are so warm hearted.

Its been a great place for takeaway, our favourites are grilled burgers and kebabs. The staff members are well mannered and value their customers all the time. The taste, customer service and value for money makes it one of best munching places in the area.

There was a young lad working in front of the desk today, he was well mannered offered me and my wife a soft drink while we were waiting for what we didn’t know a Outstanding meal, a great act of kindness which really warmed my heart, I have been to many restaurants all around the world but I have never eaten or received such service this spectacular I will definitely be returning and recommend this to everyone around the area 5/5

I have just eaten a mixed chicken and lamb kebab from here and as always the quality of food and welcoming staff is as always far beyond expectations. I work all over the country sampling Turkish food and I can honestly say that this place leaves all other establishments behind which is probably why its always so busy. The food is cooked over real coals and nothing is ever too much trouble for this place. Thanks Mengal you will see me again...and again...and again!! Steve

Mangal Express has been our favourite take away for kebabs over the past few years and even after moving house further away, we still travel here on a regular basis. But after the poor customer service that my Husband received this evening by the new female member of staff on the front desk, being rude, repeatedly standing sniggering and smirking in front of a customer is absolutely appalling. We will not be returning!!

Kebabs are not my kind of thing really but friends recommended this place to me, so we gave it a try last night.

Have been going to this place for a while but won't be going again. Ordered a chicken shawarma wrap. But I am guessing that they had run out of wraps so was given a minging tiny pitta bread instead I wouldn't have minded as much if they would have told me rather than just leaving the offending tiny pitta, that tasted like a mouldy sponge, at the bottom of the kebab. The chicken was as dry as woodchips. It had no taste and the majority of it was burnt. It should not be hard to knock up a decent chicken wrap but these guys seem to have lost any passion for producing nice Turkish food. Shame.

I don't eat here regularly as it's not too close to home, but this is by far the best kebab I have ever had and I do sometimes make the effort to drive here to spoil the Mrs with a proper kebab.

I've never had a bad meal here. Good menu selection and staff are always very friendly. There are always others collecting their food when I go which shows that it's doing well as others have realised how tasty it is! And they never complain or charge when you ask for extra garlic sauce in addition to that they've already given you!

Mangal express,What can I say... Not my local kebab shop but worth the travel. Fantastic for tradition Authentic Turkish food. I often travel too and from turkey and have always struggled to find an English kebab shop with such standards and authenticity until I found mangal express. Fantastic staff very polite and always receive great service . A personal must have on the extensive menu for me is the patlican soslu (A vegetable and aubergine side salad, a complete favourite of mine.) Highly recommendable. Look forward to my next visit !

I previously lived in this area arrived and knew it was decent before but standards have slipped.I arrived to order my meal and waited over 20 minutes for my order to be completed .One large Lamb Donner with chip's so no need to wait due to it not having to be cooked fresh. My mistake ! My friend which i recommend this kebab house had his order made before mine even though i asked before him (small chicken shish) . I then having had my friend have his meal ready to go,been asked if i wanted salad I said no I'll have it separately and that was all that was asked, no mention of if I wanted chilly sauce , garlic sauce or the pomegranate ( I normally ask for lemon juice to cut through the fat) . So I received my kebab and side order and on receiving it I asked if they'd put anything on it they said yes chilly sauce even though I'd never asked so was quite disappointed but thought to myself fair enough! But on my way to my car my friend commented on the bad service i kind of agreed ! And with that seen as they'd already done the mess around on me i checked my bag to see if they'd missed anything and low and behold no salad or sauce's so traipses back and asked them for my salad to be added in disgust and a customer laughed and said "they're normally good in here " I suggested that yeah normally.So when i eventually got home I noticed the quality was different salad had no dressing, meat was tougher than normal and contained more fat and sinuw, the chilly sauce was inadequate and no sauce had been put on my kebab as suggested (usually chunky tomatoes like the container had) . The employee's young lad with a chin strap was to busy looking at his reflection in the mirror and the Asian man was to busy to realise what was going on with the two older gentleman cooking and greeting they're customer's. Another observation was the cash handling by the young lad with a chin strap and the way he passed the kebabs from the front of house to the kitchen was unacceptable when handling money and then handing food you should always wash your hands this was not the case here and to be honest I will not be coming back. There's better than this within a five mile radius and considering i was doing a ten mile round trip I could of been wiser!

Nice shop, service and food is good

A lovely place for a kebab. The food is not as greasy as some other kebab places and the meat is good quality. They do allow you to call your order through so it is ready when you go to collect it. My only criticism is that they don't have a website with their menu.

Vegeterian meze platter for twon is recommended and grilled hellim wrap is great. For meat lovers there are plenty of options. However, 'çöp şiş' is great. It is small cutlets of meat wrapped with grilled peppers and red onions seasoned with authentic herbs like sumac. Incredibly fast service and great people. I recommend it personally. Afiyet olsun! (Means enjoy your meal in Turkish!).

Just a stone throw away from Billericay Station you'll find this excellent takeaway. Quite simply this place is the best place for kebabs! The Lamb Donner (my personal favourite) is like eating roast lamb.You've got to visit here!

The people are as friendly as the food is good. It's a common guilty pleasure to grab something to eat on the way back from the station. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Sorry Folks....All previous reviews ,seem to tip Mangal Express as Tops !! just returned with a take away Lamb Donner with full salad.Appreciative, that this is not your average Kebab outlet, with the usual greasy lamb on stand with pre cooked meat in warming dishes, however my food comprised of a flat piece Tortilla bread ( no pitta to contain the meat ) with copious salad and approximately 5 pieces of tough lamb , not evenly spread in the wrap.Shall not bother with this outlet again .Taste OK , if a little bland, again realising this is Meze with BBQ grille.Disappointed im afraid.

Wasn't expecting great things from a local kebab shop, but this place was excellent, hats off to the team. We're now regulars !

Well what a surprise ! This place is great value for money, the food was delicious,hot and plentiful. The service was efficient yet personal. The choice on the menu is much better than pashas, to the degree where you might need another ice cold Efes whilst choosing ! Complimentary bread, dips and olives....the chilli dip though is far from chilli....the starter I had (lambs liver) was enough for a main course, my main was lamb in a tomatoes mushroom and garlic sauce served with rice and salad. It was delicious. My other half had a grilled lamb dish which was succulent and equally delicious. Too full for deserts so asked for the bill.... A starter, two mains and two beers £38......with the bill came complimentary Turkish delight and after we'd paid some complimentary cake as well !! If you want authentic Turkish food and atmosphere then look no further than this little bit if Istanbul in Billericay.(Istanicay)......This is so good it has to be a regular....

This is a fantastic takeaway if you are looking for something filling & healthy. Lots of different meats to choose from all BBQ, fresh salad & BBQ onions & tomatoes. Really tasty food & healthy alternative to your Chinese & Indian.

This place really is a gem in Billericay. The food is consistently delicious, portions generous and excellent value for money. The fact that the food is cooked in front of you displays a confidence in the high standards of everything they do. It's spotlessly clean.The staff are excellent. Polite, accommodating, generous and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble.The combination of the food and staff is an absolute winner - which is why on many nights there are people queuing outside the door because it's so popular.I cannot recommend this place more highly - if you haven't tried it yet, do - you won't be disappointed!

This is the first time I have written a review for a takeaway but I felt compelled to write after, what can only be described as, incredible service and outstanding food. The owner served us and he was so friendly and helpful - even persuading us to order less as our main orders came with salad! We had a chicken shish and a lamb shish - both served with fresh dips in little pots and nested in yummy flatbread - both of which complimented the succulent meat peefectly. They even threw in a couple of pieces of halloumi as an extra treat. We enjoyed our lunch so much - can't wait to go back next time I'm in Billericay and sample more of the varied and interesting menu.

Had food from Mangal Express a few times now and never had a bad experience. The kebabs, cooked in the traditional way over coals, are full of flavour and still moist and tender. The lamb mixed is really something special and whilst it's not cheap it's big enough for two! Don't do here if you want a doner kebab shaved from an elephant's leg - there's a van down the road for that, here you get proper, fresh, tasty food. Polite, friendly staff are the cherry on the cake.

Friendly owner and very clean place.Chicken shish was excellent big chunks of very nicely cooked chicken. Not so mad on the lamb shish, meat tasted a little old. Also the lamb shawarma was very greasy. Salads nice and always fresh. Compared to some authentic Turkish places I found it quite expensive considering you don't get any rice just a thin wrap with salad.Would go back for the chicken shish if in area.

Just had the worst lamb doner ever .. lumps of fat & burnt up tiny bits of meat & tasted off .. Obviously leftovers from saturday night .. Chicken shish was dry with 2 warm bits of tomato & undercooked onion ...£30 completely down the drain .. Will not be going back to that pit
