Proper Chinese restaurant, really great food and very busy for a Wednesday night which is always a good sign. The chilli prawns were excellent and surprisingly reasonable for central London, will definitely want to go back.

Waited a long time for the food because a tour group was given priority and was served by all the employees, even though we were there first. The food was nothing special. The service was impersonal. My personal opinion: mass processing

I have had three birthdays in this restaurant. Delicious food and fantastic service.

We have been here several times and always left satisfied. This time not. Lobster was all shell and no meat (expensive £50+ but we were ready). The problem was the tip we felt was charged twice - see photo - the 10% we volunteered and another semi-hidden Service Gratuity of £10+. First time I run into this double charge and last time I dine here

The food was tasty but nothing special, unfortunately quite expensive so we expected more.

The barbecue pork is horrible. It was cold and there was a lot of soya souce under it. On top of this, it also tastes really bad. I Hope it depends on what you order.

We ate here in the evening. The service from the man with the glasses with the nose and mouth mask is very bad. We waited quite a long time for the food. The food wasn't good. After the starter I felt sick and had to get out of the restaurant quickly. My stomach was very sensitive for 2 days. I've never eaten so badly.

Seafood noodles - average and nothing to write home about but worse was the unfriendly service. One waitress in particular very unfriendly, constant muttering under her breath in Mandarin and tutting at my 5 yo daughter and myself. Made to feel very unwelcome. Was excited to come here but will, unfortunately not be back.

Great restaurant specialising in the famous lobster noodles. Always have to order a dish when we come here. The lobster is fresh and juicy. Also tried the duck pancake which was tender with nice crispy skin on top. The spring onion and cucumber could be a bit fresher. Egg fried rice was very fragrant with the wok taste. Booked last minute to come here on the evening before the Lunar New Year and manager managed to squeeze us in which was really nice. Do come here if you fancy some lobster!

Food is so tasty at this restaurant. Lobster Spaghetti is divine have now had it on more than one occasion. Duck spring rolls were tasty too as were the Garlic King Prawns. Every time I go back I enjoy the quality of the food. Service is ok I wouldn’t say I go for the service but for the quality of food. Atmosphere is also ok I would say, however, I definitely go for the amazing authentic food not necessary for ambience or service.

Nice food but it took a very long time to arrive after which the restaurant had the audacity to rush us in order to turn the table. We were quite disappointed.

Went for dinner with a friend. Ordered a number of dishes. Some were OK, some were dry. However the BIGGEST disappointment was their "special" lobster dish. At £70 I'd expect it to be decent. There was what can only be described as about 3cm total of actual lobster. They'll distract you by bringing out this big plate with all the lobster shells on it. But most of them are empty. I've eaten lobster enough times to know that they clearly ripped us off and took out the majority of the lobster meat.

Today is the fifth time I have visited. It is the worst time. The price has increased understandably, the portions are obviously less, the taste is very bad, and the standard of the classic lobster noodles has also dropped! The beef tenderloin is tough! The fried rice is also very salty! The only thing that tastes good is kale!

Came for a take out order. There was a mid aged skinny waiter with glasses who was very rude and pretended he doesn’t understand Chinese when I clearly witnessed him speaking Chinese to his coworkers. He didn’t want to take my order because I spoke Chinese to him. But had no problem taking my white coworker’s order.

When we were visiting London, this was one of the places our hosts took us to for it was famous for their Lobster Noodles. It was delicious and not a far cry from the Ginger Scallion Lobster served in many Chinese seafood restaurants. The dish that impressed us more was their Aromatic Crispy Duck which I think is a must try - a different and very nice take on Peking Duck! The restaurant was crowded - tables were closed together. The atmosphere is a typical Chinese restaurant where people primarily go to eat, and not to chat.

I am writing regarding the amazing customer service which I have received from the Mandarin Kitchen staff in particular Alex, I had ordered some food from deliveroo which was extremely delayed due to the fact that they could not assign a rider. Alex very patiently answered the many calls I had and kept me up to date with what was happening with my order. Alex went out of his way on a very busy Saturday night to call me and give me an update and apologise that the order had been delayed. This is what you call excellent customer service. We absolutely love the food at Mandarin Kitchen but what makes it even better is the amazing customer service! Thank you Alex!!

Very low quality, bad service, unacceptable behaviour. The spring rolls were warm outside and icy inside, so they replaced them, but this time they were completely burned outside! They served the main dish before the starters and by the time we wanted to eat the main dish it was cold and hard! It looks like a bad quality food factory that they do not care! Apparently many tourists go there and they are not interested in maintaining a stable clientele. Anyway, I will not go again in this restaurant.

Not exactly what I was expecting… Being located outside of tourist trap Chinatown and after having viewed the interior of the restaurant and examining the items on the menu with their prices, I was convinced that this place would be top notch. I spontaneously walked in by myself on Saturday evening, two days before Christmas and it took about 5 minutes before any of the staff members even noticed me standing there waiting to be seated and it wasn’t even that busy. The waiter who came up to the end of the bar near the entrance and started writing something down in a book right in front of me thought I was with some other people who were also waiting, although I entered completely solo. I wanted to try the jellyfish starter dish so I ordered the one which comes with chicken and duck, except it just tasted like smokey ham and nothing else; Not worth it for the price. I also ordered a seafood fried rice which had SOME flavour but could’ve been cooked a little more with some more colour and additives to it like proper seafood and vegetables, not just these puny little pieces of what I thought were fish. This crab and sweet corn soup I ordered too was absolutely minuscule and lacked the most basic cooking ingredient: salt. But I guess that’s what you get for only £4.80. I don’t think I’ll be back here again

We browsed past the vast Chinese restaurants in Queensway and decided to try Mandarin Kitchen. We were quickly seated and ordered 2 diet cokes, prawn crackers, steamed crab, egg fried rice, king prawns in egg yolk and crispy noodles with chicken. I really liked the king prawns and you can't really go wrong with egg fried rice but the rest needed a lot of salt and pepper. We moved onto the crispy noodles with chicken dish last, and found that the chicken was raw. We cut open a few diced pieces and they were pink inside. Obviously myself and my friend were both horrified because food poisoning was possibly on the horizon. I called over the waitress who initially was quite shocked and called over her manager. Her manager then looked at the chicken, quietly acknowledged it was raw, and disappeared with the dish. We were obviously fairly anxious over becoming unwell, so myself and my friend wanted to leave the restaurant immediately. Our waitress said we could have the dish made fresh again, which of course we didn't want, as we were now suspicious of all the food we'd eaten. Having worked in a restaurant before, I was very surprised the raw chicken wasn't taken seriously. We were expected to pay the full bill which was offensive and absurd. Eventually after a lot of back and forth, we had the dish removed from the bill and a discretionary 20% discount was added. I would never come back here - Good luck to the eaters!

Overall an acceptable chinese for london, unfortunately you don’t get many good chinese dine in london! You either get high end asian fusion mayfair restaurants which are missing many items from their menus or you get your frozen kind of local chinese take out which their food is not edible ! So if you are craving an old school chinese restaurant , this place could be a good option! They are famous for their lobster noodles with ginger and spring onion sauce which If I have to score it, I will say 7/10 ! You have to pay for lobster and noodle separately so it is not a cheap option ! Overall all the dishes tasted nice and some like, crispy baby squid and spicy chicken were great! Will I go again : Yes Food : 7/10 Service : 6/10 ( 3-4 waitresses were having a nonestop meeting next to our table which we found it annoying ) Value for money : 7/10 Price : £215 for 3 ( no alcoholic drinks )

服务态度是个迷，对华人很不友好，对本地人却非常热情，老板人不错，就是服务员真的很没礼貌，因为还不怎么饿但是嘴馋所以叫的少一点（3个人两份饭），看叫的少了就很凶的说你们三个人就这些？然后叫菜的时候明明我问的是有没有烧鹅，他说有，后来repeat order的时候说是烧肉饭，我们就纠正说是烧鹅饭，然后服务员就开始发出非常没有耐心的哼声，然后很不礼貌的问你不是说是烧肉吗，没有烧鹅（真的很没礼貌）然后不情不愿的改order。我理解可以能是听错或者说口音问题而误会，但是！我觉得态度真的可以好一些。 可能是因为服务态度的问题，根本没心情品尝食物，感觉就那样，没有评价说的那么好（可能是心情影响）

Classic and very popular Chinese restaurant in Queensway. This has been here for as long as I can remember and throughout this time the food has always been consistently excellent.

Great food, service and atmosphere. We had the King Prawn noodle, Cantonese roast duck and pepper beef. We like the part that they could customise the menu for you if one knows what to ask for 👍

Found this place one night while on holiday, returned every night until I left London. Alex and the staff are awesome, service is fast and efficient, the food is superb. If you’re looking for good food in the area, it’s a must.

Wir haben to go bestellt, da die Rezessionen über den Service nicht gut waren und das Restaurant voll war. Einmal sweet sour chicken und sesam chicken bestellt jeweils mit Reis. Beides war sehr gut. Sehr zu empfehlen! Werden versuchen hier nochmal herzukommen.

Last night we went to dinner, we expected good service, but that didn't happen, I simply didn't want to pay the service charges. The manager had the ability to come to my table and start questioning me and made the few people who were in the restaurant look at me as if I didn't want to pay a lot of hassle and invasiveness, everything in a hurry, in short, horrible service

Came here for a family celebration, the food was very good with food size portions. As we were a big party, we took up a lot of space but the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant is a bit small unfortunately but has a nice atmosphere.

I think before covid taste is better than now. This time i dont like.

They expect double tipping. To all potential patrons please note that when you order your food it states clearly a suggested gratuity of 12.5% and that is ok. However, when the bill comes and when you pay by credit card, the machine does not tell you that the 12.5% is already in the bill. Instead, there are 3 options to choose from and you can't choose nil. Out of my naivety I choose "Good" that added a further 10% when I only wanted to pay the suggested gratuity 12.5%. I ended up paying an effective tip of 23.7% or £42 when this was no where close to the service standards expected. They don't even change the table cloth for the next customer which I had observed at the next table while waiting for my guests. You can bet that I won't be there again.

We visited this amazing restaurant on a Saturday lunchtime, the ginger lobster noodles they are known for were unbelievably good! But so we’re all the dishes we had, and the service was brilliant and polite and made us feel very welcome. We will back and I hope anyone reading this will now be convinced to try it too!

The best wonton soup I've ever eaten and by a large margin! Everything we had was absolutely wonderful. We have eaten at dozens, maybe hundreds of Chinese restaurants in the USA and Europe, but this was the very best we've ever experienced. This is not your typical Chinese take-out place. It has a classy, upscale decor in a great location at Bayswater and Queensway, and smart dress is appropriate. You'll need reservations.

Completely Rude. I asked my poor husband to go by and place an order for me. He said he waited and waited to be tended to and was completely ignored. When he finally stopped someone to let the them know he wanted to place an order she said she’d be right back and left he standing there over ten minutes. He watched her walk back and forth tending other customers until he finally became so frustrated he left. He said he felt like they ignored him because of his race and was so upset by it. You lose the opportunity for loyal clientele of all races when you only cater to your own. Shame. We will never go back, and we do not recommend it to anyone else.

I ordered delivery last week and was so impressed I put in a £150 order last night. It was supposed to be a special meal for my parents and my friend and after waiting 2 and a half hours for delivery what turned up made furious. The food that arrived bore no resemblance to the dishes I'd ordered a week previously. The duck with pancakes was obviously out of a supermarket packet, such as you can buy in lidl, and they had stuffed a load of soggy prawn crackers in with it, I can only assume to hide the fact it was not what I ordered and was out of a packet! The soup tasted literally of nothing. Egg fried rice containers were half full! I honestly think they contracted most of the order out to a much worse restaurant. I've never been so embarrassed to give such terrible food to my guests. If the first experience hadn't been so good, I would have never ordered a large meal from them. I feel like I've been conned.

This restaurant was always our go to place for excellent family dinner. No more, never again. Terrible and I mean terrible food, the service was really bad (waiters are amazing but bad management) and the food was just terrible. I never ever returned food, but we did this time: chicken with cashew nuts was just old chicken which was reheated and no cashews, noodles were made with a ton of salt, fish was obviously past it sell by date. The owners are probably oblivious because the place is packed but sorry, you can do better and you used to be amazing. Very sad decline

Good food, generous portions. Quiet space, good for company or individuals. Missed part of my order, but immediately compensated for it in a very nice way, totally saved the mood, staff is friendly and helpful. Recommend.

Terrible experience, have been visiting this restaurant for the past year and ordering in regularly. Went today and was so disappointed that will never visit again. The waiter who seated us was obnoxiously rude and gave us a table outside which was quite close to a bee hive and we had bees hovering over our table throughout. We desperately tried to drive them away but the waitress just stood at the distance watching the show. Food has deteriorated. Better Chinese restaurants down the road, pls don’t bother with this one!

Leider sehr schlechter Service. Das lag nicht an der Sprache, mein Englisch und das meiner mitreisenden Freunde ist sehr gut. Der Service war absolut unterkühlt und nicht Mal annähernd daran interessiert uns zu bewirten. Die Rechnung kam genauso unterkühlt und obwohl wir darauf bestanden hatten die sog. "Service Fee" rausnehmen zu lassen, stand diese trotzdem auf der Rechnung. Wir haben diese dann rausnehmen lassen, dann war das auch ok. Das Essen war in Ordnung mehr aber auch nicht. Die Toiletten sind sauber, aber direkt neben der Speisekammer im zweiten Stock.

Always the best Lobster noodle! Been coming here for 6 years now. Pork Ribs, seafood are highlight of the menu. Make sure you also order the spring onion chicken! Hands down my memory of hongkong :)

Busy Chinese restaurant. They are known for the lobster noodle, apparently. It takes so much digging to eat, and I’m not convinced it’s worth the effort. But people seem to enjoy it.

Food was good, it was not greasy a lot of meat I had chow mein beef.

Had the usual lobster noodles cooked with spring onions and ginger. Always delicious. The Dou miao with salted egg and century egg was delicious too.

Food was good. I ordered vegetable fried rice and noodles. The fact that my companion and I ordered two dishes seemed to not sit well with the staff! When they brought my coke, they banged it onto the table. They then brought my food and banged it again on the table. They were quite rude, which is a pity because the food was good. I had to go inside to pay as well and they were not at all welcoming. I do no expect that the red carpet be rolled out but I think being in customer service, I can ask at least for common courtesy and respect, especially when I do treat everyone with respect.

After reading the reviews and initially entering the restaurant, I was very excited and hoped this would be a 4- or 5-star review experience: the staff were very friendly and we got a table within 5-10 minutes, which was surprising as it was packed! We ordered our drinks, starters, and mains within a few minutes and this is when our positive experience turned into a negative one. It took 10 minutes to receive a bottle of sparkling water and 45 minutes for our appetizers, followed by another 20 minutes for our mains. To be fair, we got some prawn crackers on the house after 30 minutes of waiting but then had a further 30-35 minutes until our mains arrived. We gave the staff the benefit of the doubt as it was busy, until we saw several tables who sat down AFTER us getting all of their food within 10-15 minutes. The food was great though and if our wait time for it was within 20-25 minutes, I’d rate this place at least a 4-star or higher.

Very nice, authentic chinese food. Best lobster noodles ever. Perfect for family gatherings or formal parties. Only issue was that 2/3 bathrooms were out of order and the 3rd one was disgustingly unclean even though the restaurant had just opened. Will come again though with family or friends.

so expensive for what. even though service charge removal is optional, the waiter didnt allow me to remove it. so i got charged like £13 for 2 disgusting crab leg things for the starter alone. totally pathetic

Never gonna come back again!! Firstly, we have six people but they gave us a small table with maximum four people when there were still two big circle tables empty (We reserved beforehand). The waitresses and waiters were very impolite all the time. They pretended they didn't hear us when we were talking to them... We waited for so long each time when we asked for something. VERY IMPORTANT: The staffs were very dishonest!! We only ordered one lobster but they give us two on the bill payment!! I found out this case in others comments as well... Now, let's talk about the dishes. I am not an expert but the food is incredibly bland... We ordered 'salted fish with chicken and toufu in claypot', we couldn't taste the salted fish (I bet it's not there), and the chicken is still raw with a spoiled taste... The lobster and noodles is definitly mixed with a large amount of MSG, which made us super thirsty after the meal. Overall, this restaurant is not worth going. The food is overpriced, the quality is concerning, the service is unfriendly. ( Don't really undersand why there were so many people lining up for this restaurant. Go and find other restaurants PLEASE!! There are so many other delicious chinese food in London!!)

The waiters are rude & entitled. They do not understand that service charge is not compulsory and they will hound you like a dog if you don’t pay it. We decided not to pay it because the service wasn’t up to scratch. We still spent just over £150 on a meal just for the 2 of us. It’s only a matter of time before this place gets exposed. The food is very average for the prices and the entitlement from the staff. I would of understood if the food was amazing but it’s very mediocre. Nothing special.

We’ve been coming here for more than 10 years (a little too regularly perhaps!) and have never had a bad dinner. It’s always heaving but they are very accommodating, and the service is fantastic. The peking duck, asparagus with chilli and spring onion, and lobster noodles are unmatched in London.

Very tasty soft shell crab, but the crab noodles w/ ginger and spring onion noodles were a bit overhyped. The sauce however, was quite nice!
