Mandarin Chinese Restaurant in Hillingdon

Beautifully decorated restaurant & lovely food, although no desserts on the menu, so we had starters instead. The service was very good too but the big let-down was that it didn't stay open until the advertised time. When you go out for dinner you don't want to be on your way home at 10pm, and as they don't open until 5.30pm, we thought that a bit strange, particularly on a Saturday night.

Great food, friendly staff, and decent prices! The staff is super welcoming, the menu's huge, and everything tastes amazing thanks to fresh ingredients and great spices. It's a perfect place for a delicious and diverse meal.

We went for dinner & thoroughly enjoyed. It has a lovely, authentic ambience. The staff were super efficient and courteous. The food was delicious and great portion sizes. There are not many places which serve yellow bean sauce curries so we were pleased to get that. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a really nice lunch on Sunday at Mandarin. The restaurant was not busy so hard for me to comment on atmosphere but the restaurant itself was nice decor wise. The food was really good, we had a selection of vegetarian dishes from across appetizers, mains and accompaniments - all were good. The recommendations were also spot on including which sauce to pair with which veg. Would recommend a visit.

wrong food delivered, asked for no chilli it had extra chilli, and it wasnt crispy duck it was crispy fat. for the price i expected more

Absolutely revolting food. Waited an hour for cold, inedible slop. Veg rolls cold in a paper bag. 4 prawns in a chow mein and rice noodles was terrible. Rude staff swearing.

DONT DO DELIVERY ORDER WAIT FOR 50 minute or more I was arrived at 6 45 pm and ask for my order just eat so one person says to me is take 15 to 20 min. I go outside wait 20 min then I be came inside and ask for order delivery then says to me is take more 10 min and I still waiting inside but is actual time taken is 45 min is service not good and behave like says to me if you can’t wait 15 min don’t take order guys don’t order here is not good for your health because food ongoing is deliver cold.

Great food, great company and great restaurant

Recently tried for the first time, as our local restaurant, nice decor and lovely food in general, but quite expensive for the area, and relatively small portion sizes.

Order never arrived. Drivers can’t speak English or communicate properly. Stop employing people who can’t speak basic English or use a navigation system.

If I could give 0 stars I would, the delivery driver couldn’t speak English and couldn’t use a navigation system he then marked my order as delivered and stole my food. Stop employing people who can’t speak basic English. Terrible service. Never ordering from them again.

Lovely food and atmosphere was great!

We had a really good experience at Mandarin. We came on a Saturday night and got a nice table at the window. The service was a bit slow but they were busy. I would definitely recommend the sizzling dishes as they were delicious and good portion size.

the prices average £9.oo a portion, extortionate prices. relying on the previous management of the mandarins good will .Now not worth a penny, but rip off prices and portions in my opinion, Stay Away

Probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The lady came to take our order without giving us the menus. I had to get up and get the menu myself. Took 20 mins for a bottle of coke and bottle of beer to come after two reminders. Starters took a while to come and given the wrong dish. Lacking flavour and taste and to top it off cold. We waited for a further half hour for someone to check on us and we said we were waiting for our mains. They said they’re coming out soon. Then 20 mins later, the waitress who took our order came out and said “paper is missing.” We were baffled as to what this meant, no apology, nothing. She then said our paper order was missing and to order again. We were beyond frustrated at this point as every other single customer and deliveroo driver in the restaurant who had been waiting for over an hour in some cases. The bill came with a service charge added, the audacity. One deliveroo driver was shouting across the restaurant after waiting for half hour. Lacking staff training and poor quality food. No apologies for the atrocious service

I don’t think I’ve ever had such a horrible dining experience. The worst food—I’m not even sure it was actually Chinese. We waited for everything for hours, and it seemed like everyone else in the restaurant was just as frustrated. They were prioritising Deliveroo orders over customers dining in.

Absolutely awful. Waited two and a half hours for them to cook the food and hand it to the uber driver. They kept saying they would phone us back with an update and then just cancelled the order. A completely ruined evening waiting for food. I will be telling everyone one I know not to use this absolute disgrace of a place. Not even an apology. Terrible terrible terrible

Do not order takeaway from here. Once previously it took over two hours, and this evening they have just cancelled our order after over an hour of waiting. Food is average at best - not worth the risk of being left hungry!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mandarin, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely outstanding, every dish was bursting with authentic flavours and cooked to perfection. From the duck to the fresh seafood, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect meal. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers both exceptional food and top-tier service, but Mandarin does exactly that. If you’re looking for an amazing Chinese dining experience, this is the place to go. Can’t wait to return!

Amazing food - we asked for some chef's specials of which 1 was the boss prawns (a must-have)- left our mouths watering! We also had the pork ribs and lamb dish which were cooked to perfection- and the flavours were intense. Definitely a placed to visit wether you live locally or further out of west london.

Ordered food. Collected from restaurant. Nice food but quite expensive. We ordered today and my Dad and myself were extremely disappointed 😞. We ordered 3 dishes spare ribs,prawn chow mein and Chinese vegetables. 21/1/2025.There was hardly anything in the boxes for the £26.90 we paid with a discount for collection of food on a Monday evening. I know Mandarin is a very exclusive restaurant but really the prices are extortionate. This will be the last time we purchase food from Mandarin simply because you are far too expensive and you are extremely stingy with your portions. Really it is daylight robbery. So afraid you get a big thumbs down from us.Also I asked for the Barbecue Spare ribs Chinese style and we got Peking style ribs.

Food was cold, greasy, odd flavouring and textures (e.g seaweed was covered in salt, lots of cinnamon on the ribs, prawn toast was undercooked, spicy satay sauce, chicken was tough and egg fried rice was super stodgy / overcooked). Have eaten before and not had this issue before, highly disappointed especially for the price paid and the quality delivered.

We went on a Sunday evening and really enjoyed every single thing we ate, the staff were helpful in recommend what to order and the food didn’t disappoint. The cocktails are on the pricier side but were delicious and a great size. The veg chow mein and sizzling dishes were our favourite. We found one of the dishes slightly salty but turns out it was the sauce we chose. Overall, we would definitely be back

Have visited here a few times each time with family . Food and service are excellent and portion sizes are good. Slightly expensive but will be back again.

Used to be a regular deliveroo customer but will be moving to another option. Last 2 times I've spent over £50 and the food portions have been EXTREMELY small compared to usual. It's a bit of a joke that they charge that much and have such small portions. 7-8 small tofu bits for a salt and pepper tofu is ridiculous. Garlic rice was also undercooked and hard and gave me a bad stomach the next day. Overall not great - will not be be ordering ever again having ordered 6 - 7 times already

Terrible experience on 20th September 2024. Cold food, poor service, served chicken to vegetarian guests saying it was veg. No manager in sight.They prioritise takeaway orders over restaurant customers. We have been coming to this restaurant for year but will never go there again. Avoid at all costs.

Ordered vegetarian takeaway and must say it was the worst food Chinese food we've ever eaten ! Tasteless sauces, limp vegetables and lots of garlic with no flavour. Never going back.

We had a lovely meal tonight, our first time after seeing the restaurant on instagram, we wanted to give it a try. The manager was so welcoming and helpful and we really enjoyed everything we ordered. The restaurant was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and all the food was fresh and tasty. We will definitely be returning!

We went in a couple mouths later to try the food in the restaurant and not Uber eats and was so happy with the quality and the politeness of the staff was overall the best dinner experience I’ve had a while would highly recommend coming here.

I took my friends who were visiting from abroad to Mandarin. I went many years ago and the food was amazing. This time I went I was extremely disappointed. We arrived at 7pm, the place was pretty much empty, there was a total of 2 other tables in for dinner. The service was extremely slow, if they were rushed off their feet I would understand. By the time we had ordered from the menu, it took 30 mins for the starter to come out, we had the mixed starter, the chicken satay which one of my friends couldn’t eat as it was too spicy for them, the sesame prawn toast which wasn’t great, spare ribs which were tasty, vegetable spring rolls where there was a lot of Indian herbs used, and then the seaweed which was extremely salty. By the time we had finished our starters it took yet another 30 mins to get our mains. The only thing that was nice was the rice, all the other dishes were horrendously bad, we had beef in oyster sauce, which didn’t taste anything like it should and again was extremely salty, we also had a couple of roast pork dishes, one was too fatty and the other one was over cooked. Unfortunately all of us weren’t very well, friends used the bathroom a couple of times whilst we were there. Staff were shy but ok. The chef who came out was very warm, apologetic and caring. The drinks/cocktails were amazing. We only paid for the food that was edible and the drinks. I will not be coming back here in the future.

I usually base only a small fraction of my ratings on the quantity of the food. However, the portion sizes at this restaurant are particularly low, especially given the prices. As a result, it couldn't achieve a top rating of four or five stars. While the taste of the food is average, the interiors are quite impressive and create a mysterious, late-night dinner atmosphere. The service was commendable; the staff are friendly and positive. Considering that this is a Chinese restaurant, (not just a chinese cuisine, but is chinese themed, overall)  as suggested by its name, I would appreciate a deeper cultural immersion. It would be wonderful to see a bit more of Chinese culture and its origins reflected in the experience. For eg, including short descriptions below iconic dishes that explain their origin or relate to Chinese traditions would bring it to a top level rating.

A very nice ambience to try a new Chinese cuisine

Lovely dining experience. Very clean, relaxing ambient atmosphere. We had a nice chat with the owner Poona who served us. The food is freshly cooked, light and tasty. Definitely coming back again! Glad they kept the 50 year old mother of pearl wall art.
