Good food and prices

Always was good but lately its been absolutely terrible.

“Fried” rice is not fried, I received Chicken boiled rice instead. Horrendous, tasteless and clumpy. Undercooked somehow. Chips were terribly soggy, crackers were soft not crunchy and curry sauce was lumpy and cold. This was a big order for our night shift at work, and all of it was disappointing. £117 order that you could’ve had every other week from us, will definitely never order from here again.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food compared to the past. Fried rice was a solid lump, sweet and sour balls batter burnt on the outside but virtually raw inside. The beef was so tough it was inedible. We've been regulars for over 15 years but sadly the standard of food is now so bad that we won't be going back again.

What a terrible shame, this business changed owners a few years ago and has slowly been in decline ever since, it's our nearest Chinese takeaway with the rest being a good 30 minute drive so it's sad how terrible it has become, I've been back three times in the last couple of years and every time ends in disappointment, they have cut corners with the quality and the food is quite simply awful, this last visit gave me a terrible upset tummy and what kind of a business nowadays is CASH ONLY ! Only the ones avoiding tax I guess!!! Sorry but that's my last visit.

We ordered from Mandarin Chinese as our regular chinese takeaway was closed. Really disapointed with everything other than the chips and rice. Ribs weren't even ribs, they were tiny pieces of meat on the bone that were hard and dry, the seaweed was tasteless, the beef with chinese mushrooms was cold and bland and salt and pepper chicken was dry and far too salty. Nothing red hot which to say we only live 3 mins away isnt good at all. Wont be ordering from here again.

Every time we have food from the Manderin we find it is excellent and cooked beautifully and very big servings.

Ordered a take away of chicken curry, mushroom fried rice, pork chop suey, it was absolutely vile, it looked like slop on the plate all the same colour no taste what so ever, it was awful and went into the bin, will Not return to this Chinese

Food shocking every thing cold chicken omelette was not cooked still raw in middle and egg fried rice was like concrete was told by a few people not to go here but like to try for myself never again

Good basic food years ago but for some time now, most meals consist of onion and more onion. If i wanted just onion i would ask for onion. On a Chinese meal i ecpect Chinese veg, not just onion. A long wait to be served and when i order over the phone my take away is never ready for collection at the time i am told to pick it up

Quite sad really, our only Chinese takeaway in the village, hugely disappointed ☹️ we hardly ever treat ourselves to eat out, therefore looking forward to a vegetable curry and chips. Lots of veg in the curry, awesome, but please could you save the left over pineapple for the sweet & sour dish. Next time we shall get the curry sauce from the local chippy far more flavour! Sorry Mandarin our next takeaway will get delivered from elsewhere!

Ordered hot and sour soup plenty of veg but just not as good as others. Also had Singapore vermicelli- not spicy as promised and the meat in it tasted rancid so ended up leaving it. Just tasted horrible. Hopefully no upset stomach tomorrow!! My wife had chicken foo yung. Again it just didn’t taste fresh - meat was perhaps off. All in all very disappointing- only just moved here so need to find an alternative.

THE BEST CHIPS WITH CURRY SAUCE! We were staying nearby and came back a second time just for the chips with curry sauce. Lovely girl serving us.

Ordered chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, egg fried rice and prawn crackers - takeaway. The food looked and smelt sour and rancid, and tasted even worse. Immediately returned the food and explained the situation, it was obvious that they didn't believe me. They never even opened the returned package but gave various excuses. The £12.10 I paid was slapped on the counter without even an apology. Would not return!

Tasty food, with generous portion sizes. At busy times, get your order in early as there can be a long wait.

Foul food and very dated restaurant. Believe it or not there are dead bugs and you know what On the floor! The last batch of staff Marched off in a strop! There a reason why it’s called the manderank Chinese!

Not great food at all. The place also has a one star hygiene rating. Personally I would try tang or skelly pizza

It was supposed to be a treat for my visiting granddaughter,and it was a big dissapiontment instead.The salt and pepper chicken was so hard you couldn’t bite into it and the beef in black bean sauce was all dried up and congealed.I think they were all just warmed up left overs from lunchtime.Won’t go there again

Best Chinese takeaway we have used in years, open 7 days a week.

Had a good meal from here the special rice was very good the crispy shredded beef was also very nice but portion size smaller than my regular Chinese take away the curry sauce was nice but small portion and it was on a polystyrene "cup" type container with lid but had been packed in such a way that it had split , the polystyrene cup type containers are very flimsy. Altogether a nice meal and I would order from here again.

This isn’t Chinese food this is joke food. We made a big order during New Year’s Eve , and my god we were disappointed. The food was sloppy, tasteless and also one of us got seriously sick the following day. I’m gonna stick to ordering in cities or london. This is terrible food and I will never order it again

I have had 2 meals from here now new owners and food really good as good as the golden gate in London, Roast chicken curry chow mein delicious and enough for 2. Please do not take notice of old reveiws as the new new owners are doing a prawn cracking job.

Over 9 years we have always had good quality meals from here, though at busy times there can be a wait for orders. Since a change in owners the quality has gone downhill, we no longer buy after trying a couple of times to see if it improved

We are visiting the area and called in at Mandarin Chinese for the first time! The young girl was very polit and friendly! She said it would be ready in 20 Mins, only took 10mins we had S1 & S2 was very tasty and hot, plenty to go at ! Enjoyed it very much and will happily return if in the area ! Thank you

First time I've been since it changed hands, Food was tasty and hot, overall quite satisfied.

Always a good takeout. Plenty of veggie options, great value. Meal comes with fortune cookies. Never been disappointed yet ! If possible order by phone - always ready on time. Cash only.

Excellent take away- they catered really well for gluten free and nut free requests and labeled all the dishes accordingly. All of the dishes were well balanced with plenty of meat proportionately. Did have to wait a little longer than time stated but would rather have fresh hot food!! Thanks very much x

Ouality of food has gone down hill lately. But thought I'd give it another go. But half way through my meal which wasn't to bad to be fair was a large hair . I can saftley say I won't be back anytime soon.

The star rating is for the food quality. The business tends to massively overbook orders and they don't have a safe system for order collection. Very covid unsafe and sadly will not use again.

Just arrived at Chinese to order food, it says closed on the door but according to opening times it should be open !!

I had this a few times a while ago n although people always found it bad the only problem I had was it always seemed to take forever weather the shop was full or not

So we haven’t had a Chinese for a while in general and the village Chinese has always been a sure thing for a good meal! So for Mother’s Day, I wanted a big fat Chinese feast!! So we made a fair £40+ order for the family. And it all had something wrong with it. The shredded duck was extremely dry and some so crispy it was inedible. But no bother we thought, lather on a bit more hoisin! Tasty enough to be fair, just over cooked and very very dry. Plain chow mein was nice, young chow fried rice was nice....cant go wrong with noodles or rice though really, kids happy at that as that is what they mainly eat so at least they weren’t hungry after. Chicken balls were burnt and so crunchy you couldn’t bite them on one side and a bit too pink for my liking (picture attached) obviously cooked in too hot an oil. So we had to halve those that were ok, the few that were edible we gave the kids, but we had to check as pink chicken is never a good sign and I don’t fancy completely ruining Mother’s Day with a 1yr old and 4yr old with food poisoning. The crispy shredded beef tasted of flour in sauce absolutely dreadful, two mouthfuls eaten, horrendous! The beef in black bean was just odd, it had like a chemical taste to it. At first we thought, it’s clashing on our palate with something we’ve eating.....no, it’s clashed with a cleaner on a surface and cooked. Super bad that one and two mouthfuls again was enough. All in all, it was shocking! Its cash only to pay, so you have to bugger about getting cash out as well. Just not worth the hassle and just inedible! It’s in the bin, that’s where it should have gone from the start. Very disappointing indeed, we will drive to town and collect one from town in future. Thank god we had a big tub of ice cream in to make up for it!

Mine wasn't too bad but beware if you are allergic to MSG as my wife was very ill afterwards.

First time we have used since change of management.This was an outstanding takeaway but the food is not in anyway as good as before.Cantonese sweet & sour dry & hard meat.Curry not at all nice seemed to be gloopy & hardly any meat.Will not use again.

sadly not many options when you live out here, mandarin used to be a safe bet but last couple of meals from here have been poor. From what i read on Lincolnshire Live the owners changed at the start of the year and boy does it show.last night we ordered chicken balls (fatty) beef curry (tasted full of msg and undercooked onions) salt and pepper ribs (better than last time but still more gristle than meat and slightly anemic) and singapore noodles (bland) with a couple of sauces and sme chips for a smidgeon under 30 quid.

If its busy food can come wrong but when its quiet food is great!

We have ordered from here quite often and had no problems but on this occasion it was not to be. The chicken curry had a large hair in it. When I called to let them know that it was a problem that they needed to rectify in their hygiene practices I was told to bring it back and they would replace it. This would have involved a 9 mile round trip, which would have meant getting changed after having sat down to eat after a 13 hour day. Not exactly what I needed to hear. To top it all, my wife is totally turned off any establishment when a hair is found in the food, and will no longer eat anything from here again. It was a nice solution to me having to cook after a long day at work and now it's no longer an option. Perhaps a refresher hygiene course is in order.

Had a set meal for 3 wow enough there for 4 !! Beautifully cooked and the chicken was so tender .Good value for money

Nothing special. Charges a ridiculous amount, with it being the only chinese in the village. Food fine but nothing at all to write home about. Would be 2 star but upped it to 3 because the young lass that takes the orders and works the till is LOVELY.

Very good food but can't understand the collection system. Food ordered to collect then they shout your name into the kitchen and you wait the same amount of time as if you just ordered in the shop. Sit and wait 35/40 minutes every time I order, waste of time.

An excellent Chinese Takeaway, I travel from Doddington Park, which is roughly 7 miles, just to use it. The quality is first class 5 Stars

The welcome you get when entering is lovely, the young woman serving is an absolute delight. Fabulous food, we have been three times now and never had a bad dish.

I ordered a SHRIMP chop suey. Meal turned out to be 9 PRAWNS fried with some beanshoots (no other vegetables) in a thin rusty-coloured liquid........ and that was it!! Other reviewers seemed to have had good meals. What went wrong with mine or were my expectations just too high? Was the chef distracted? Did I upset someone (thought I'd been very polite!)? Sorry but I won't be returning!

First visit and would certainly go again. A big choice menu and I opted for the set meal for one,ample food and well cooked.

Brilliant food. Had Chinese food in many countries. This place is as good as anything I have ever had. Superb.

The food here is good, service is quick but there is the usual wait time. Saturdays are really busy so place your order by phone then and pick it up. Takes cards and they usually throw in some prawn crackers for free with larger orders. Recommended

Have been going to this take away for many years always reliable food good. Somtimes you have to wait because it's very busy. If you phone in advance and book time food is always ready for collection staff helpful

Meal was 45 minutes late. When I got home there was NO chicken curry my Christmas Eve meal has been ruined as I haven't got one. Avoid the staff are irresponsible idiots.

Ordered food 6.30pm on Sat evening for collection 7.15pm, nothing mentioned about being busy or having to wait longer, still waiting at the take-a-way at 8pm for the food which was hot but not the best, chips undercooked, chicken balls did not appear cooked in the middle, first time have eaten from this take a-way as new to the area, may give it another go but doubtful. May have been a one off, waiting time far too long.

Had a takeaway from here 23 june nice fresh tasting food the hot and sour soup was spot on also had sweet and sour King prawn chicken chow men and special fried rice all good will be using again

My wife and I have come for our Chinese every time we come to stay in Lincoln and it has always been great. They were busy when I went in and it still only took around 15 mins to make my order up. The food is nice, not too greasy and enough to leave you comfortably full rather than stodgy. This time around we ordered: sweet and sour balls, Szechuan chicken, chips and egg fried rice which came to around £15.

Unrealistic collection time offered. Food finally handed over 30 mins later than the time offered over the phone when the order was placed. Batter was overcooked on the outside and soggy on the middle, chips overcooked. Overall very disappointing for the money paid

Mi hija tenía algunos amigos, así que los traté para llevar. Tuvimos una mezcla de platos, todos estaban calientes y deliciosos con algunas galletas de langostinos de cortesía, que era un buen toque. No comemos muchos platos para llevar, pero cuando lo hacemos, siempre usamos el mandarín y disfrutamos de las sobras al día siguiente:)

The best takeaway in the Lincoln area. Spot on every time

About 1hour wait on Saturday night but food was excellent.

We eat here from regularly, all the dishes have the right flavour and are delicious (been to many that all have a same-y taste), totally yummy, very reasonable, quick service.

Siempre vengo al Mandarin situado a 5 millas de Lincoln, pero bien vale la pena el viaje ya que es muy superior a CUALQUIER comida china en Lincoln. El personal es muy amable y el servicio suele ser bastante rápido, el tamaño de la porción siempre es bueno y la comida viene bien caliente en contenedores sellados. Simplemente no puedo culpar a esta excelente salida excepcional. La única crítica es que no está en una de las aplicaciones de entrega a domicilio más conocidas, pero creo que en este caso es beneficioso, ya que significa que solo los clientes de la tienda a la que sirven y, por lo tanto, el tiempo de espera se mantiene en una mínimo y los precios se mantienen a un nivel muy razonable.

We never have a bad take away from here. Whether it's a small order or large family celebration order. It's always hot and tasty.

Fantastic food reasonably priced. There's a wide variety of dishes. Open every evening except Tuesdays. Staff are always friendly.

Absolutely diabolical can never get the order right. Always miss something off and then when you try and claim it back they have it in the book as claimed. Never will eat from here again. Also they tell you half an hour for Collection and when you get there you have to wait the same amount of time.

I have used this takeaway for a number of years and recently I have noticed the service and food getting worse on my last 2 visits my order has been incomplete and found the food to very bland.I will now travel to Lincoln for my Chinese.
