Mandarin in Wakefield

Whats happened to this place ?? Ordered crispy beef on OK sauce . What i got was extremely crispy stuff with no beef tinned carrots and very hot OK sauce. Worse food I've ever eaten . I will never order anything again from here .

Cash only .... The food was lovely and still hot by the time I got home. It was the first time I have been there,I will be back.

please avoid at all costs, man answered the phone and was extremely rude and began shouting when i rang up to sort an issue regarding a missed item. Told me i was a liar and blamed me for an issue which was on their end. Lied to me on phone and told me i would not have to pay for the missed item, we were made to pay as he only agreed it would be free as he 'didnt want to argue with me', when there was no argument on my end in the first place. This man needs serious customer service training, pay for it out of the money he made from making us pay for the missed item :))))

The food is very nice from here but numerous times I’ve either received the food or been to collect & it’s been wrong. I’ve let it go 4 or 5 times but tonight is the final straw. I went down & explained everything to the young lad on the counter & even watched him write it down word for word yet still THREE of the FIVE dishes were wrong when I got home. When you ask for Chicken in Garlic & Chilli sauce with NO VEG & with cashewnuts.. & it comes totally full of veg & No cashewnuts.. that’s ridiculous at £8 - £9! Chicken foo yung came as Special which included prawns. Good job not allergic to shell fish eh! Plain noodles which should’ve had satay sauce.. it even had it written on the box!! Won’t be using again. Shame as the food.. when correct.. is actually very good.

Food was awful.. dry and tasteless and was not cheap. Wife ordered food and gentlemen on other side of phone is just plain rude and weird. You can see the nasty replies he gives to other bad reviews means he does not take this seriously and is very childish. Take constructive criticism without being offended please.

1st time at this takeaway - 1st Chinese since we moved from London 3 1/2 years ago. Took the plunge and don’t regret it. Thoroughly stuffed and happy family. Very generous portions and good quality meat. There was barely any fat on the dry and sticky ribs. Sweet and sour Mandarin Special had a light batter and a delicious sauce. Will definitely be back.

Chinese takeaway night tonight so we purchased their set meal for two. The food was excellent, ticking all the boxes for quality, quantity and flavour. Did I mention that the staff were very friendly and accommodating? Great place.

I’ve been ordering here for years and I have yet to be let down. Food is always amazing, service too, the owner is a really nice guy and the delivery drivers too. I have tried other chinese food but nothing has compared to Mandarin. By far one of the best takeaways and the best chinese takeaways within a 10 mile radius to Horbury. Thanks for the amazing service and top food 👍🏻

Was very let down by the food the salt and pepper chicken was so chewy the salt and pepper chips were just chips won't be ordering again.

Portions are so big they know what they are doing never had a bad meal

First time we tried this Takeaway tonight and it will be the last, Mix Meat Sweet Sour no sauce hardly in to the point you couldn't tell what it was same applied to the Black bean sauce dish so I think my bin enjoyed it more 🤦 some of the meat was like crispy burnt offerings 🤮 what a let down ...

We have been ordering our take away for years but unfortunately tonight our boc meal was so disappointing. Less items than there used to be.

Food was cold bland didn't get the right order what more can I say given you the benefit of the doubt a few times now won't be ordering again. Sorry mandarin but you need to sort out your business. Don't blame the delivery guy. Blame the kitchen and your management

I've just had the box take away, don't bother the food was dry looked like it was leftover reheated Will.never use or recommend to anyone.

Great food and service as always, been buying my Chinese takeaway from here for over 20 years and not found better locally. Sorry though to see the recent price rises in the new menu, I understand its a sign of the times but its a big increase on our usual order and will unfortunately limit how often we can use you in the future 😪

Would not recommend. Clap cold when it turned up. I wouldn't advise on the pancake rolls at all. You're choice guys.

I wish it was possible to give minus stars. Everything inedible, horrible smell, beef tasted like burnt fat. Salt and pepper chicken and chips tasted of NOTHING. I am not usually one to send anything back and complain, but this time I did. I explained politely my issues to a nice lady, who then got the owner. He was VERY rude and aggressive when met with my complaints. He was adamant that his food was excellent, and began to shout about this and throw the things down on the counter and inspect them. He then started shouting about how times are hard and he absolutely will not reimburse me. Horrible horrible man. Avoid at all costs! In the end he did ‘reluctantly’ (in his words) give me back half of my money. To the owner - I hope you read this personally, and I recommend that you learn better manners, book yourself onto a customer service course, and buy a Chinese cookbook. Thanks 😊

Disgusting food, I’ll eat anything but this was inedible… salt and pepper chips had never seen seasoning, food had a nasty smell to it. guy was aggressive and rude when told that his food is very poor. Avoid.

Absolutely delicious! We live up in Flockton and always drive down here as our local Chinese. Staff are always friendly, food ready in good time and extremely tasty. My favourite is Crispy Chicken in OK Sauce and Salt & Pepper Chips! Excellent 😍😍

awesome food freshly cooked, the wait can be about an hour so bear this in mind if ordering but id say the wait is definitely worth it for the quality of food.

Absolutely disgusting food and service, meal stunk off rung to complain and staff was rude and dismissive. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE customer service is appalling and as for being rude my wife phoned and was actually polite she let u no the crispy beef was inedible you said its meant to be like that then she said she couldn't eat the salt n pepper stuff for the smell you said OK thanks and she hung up can not believe the lengths you go to to try get out of bad service just own it and rectify the issue maybe was a bad night but to tell lies and blame customers is disgraceful we order takeaways as a treat for working hard and we give credit we're it's due we dnt make things up we literally didn't eat it its in our bin!!!

That salty we were up all night drinking water. When given an extra chance , I ordered again and asked for no salt to be added to my food., the person taking my order repeated my order back and said with no extra salt, not sure why you would add extra in the first place while it is that salty already! Genuinely struggling to understand how they are still open. Also Person on the phone has no enthusiasm for taking your order. Defiantly would not recommend!

Can not fault the food it was lovely, But the delivery drivers are something else!!! Made out we were £1 shot when we gave them over the amount of the order then started to offer myself and my other half out! my 9yr old son witnessed this them saying that they were going to come back at 11.30 n sort it! My son was scared to go to bed worried they would come back! I got straight on phone to report this was told my other half was inebriated don't get me wrong he had, had a few beers but was far from inebriated! I myself had not had a drink but they offered me out 2! Owner assured my on phone said that he would have a word with them, they should get the bloody sack absolutely outrageous! Safe to say we will not b ordering from here again!

By far the best Chinese takeaway food I have eaten to date. Duck in plum sauce is a favourite dish of mine. I received a tub of hard crispy duck pieces with a separate pot of plum sauce which is a bit different to what I am used to so I was a bit dubious at first. However I was not disappointed as once I combined the two the dish was absolutely delicious. We have recently moved into the area and will definitely order from here again.

Fantastic food ....we...as a family been eating from this place for years.....and we love it..!! always improving their services....I recommend Mandarin to anyone who appreciates Chinese food..... Lovely staff and the owner just beautiful in and out......

Delicious food, always tasty. The only downfall is the waiting time. Despite ordering at a certain time, we were still waiting 35 minutes later. Think it's a victim of its own success. Great food, shame about the wait.
