Mamma Mia in Aberdeenshire

We’ve been four or five times now and every time it has been amazing. They were even gracious enough to host our rehearsal dinner the day before our wedding. The staff is lovely, and the pizza is the best in, dare I say, all of Scotland!

Just had a takeaway pizza with the workmates for lunch, delicious, nice change from sandwiches. Service was perfect, really nice to deal with. Would highly recommend. Thanks, Tony.

After a long drive,we chose Mamma Mia and were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and with the excellent service, a place I would recommend.

A quality Italian restaurant conveniently located half way down Banchory high street. Upon our arrival, we were quickly seated and welcomed by the very pleasant staff. There is a compact, but authentic menu with many Italian dishes to choose from. I was informed the dish I ordered would take a longer time to cook than the other two, however it was very quick! I expected a wait of at least 40 minutes, but all three dishes were served to us hot within half of that. If you are visiting the area, Mamma Mia is an excellent place to stop for an evening meal. Many thanks to the staff once again.

Best pizza's I've had in a long time.

Went for lunch here. Ordered a capricciosa pizza and still water. It was the best pizza ive had in ages, even better than Venice. Staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend

Excellent pizza, arrived at a busy time, which caused the owner to become stressed about the time to reserve the food on time. The 2 girls who made the reservation remained friends and took all the time for you.

Decided to update my review. Food here has always been good quality (i actually find this better than any dominos or papa johns type pizzerias) and a fair price for what you get. Since its location change, the service has improved a lot. Staff have been friendly and attentive the last few times.

For us, Germans from the south of Germany, who loves Mediterranean food, this was BY FAR the best food we had yet in Scotland! The pizza was really good and just perfect! Thank you for this delicious meal!

Got Mega Deal Take Away with 14” pizza with chips and chicken nuggets. The service wasn’t pleasent from the door :( When asked about pizza size they confirmed that this is 14”, but measurements tells otheriwse ! 1* for lying and overcharging for the pizza! Otherwise good food.

Top notch food! We stopped in past for lunch, both ordered pizza which was freshly made to order. We’ll be back.

We had an early dinner. Pizza's were not too bad, but overpriced.

Visited for a late lunch, pizza was very good as was the coffee. Service was efficient and friendly and the atmosphere was good being helped by the owner playing Italian radio in the background. Well worth a visit.

Pizzas amazing and for a great price

The chef came to our table and was personally offended when our dessert was inedible. Very unprofessional and threatening. Editing to address owner reply: I visited this restaurant and wanted to justify the review I left previously with more context.

Ordered two pizzas both 16”. Because it was take away I just took both and go only to be surprise at home they are much less than 16” ( they magically shrink on they way to home). I do understand how pizza is made as I have family in Bruino but don't charge customer for large pizza when your final product is in price tag of your small pizza. On the other hand dough was good having the right amount of crust and burnt on it, sauce was very good and the toppings was ok. Customer service was fast and pleasant.

We were told the waiting time for pizza was 50+ minutes so opted to get coffee. Unfortunately the milk in our coffee was sour and so the coffee is not even drinkable

A lovely spot in banchory, the quality has stayed reliably great since the move. Such good pizza and lovely staff, a must for tasty evening out.

We had a large party of 11, booked in advance. We were all accommodated well, just one tiny mistake on one pizza, but rectified without hesitation. Would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic little small (indoors) place - excellent "home made" food

Visited on Saturday evening. Table was ready as per booking. Menu was very limited. Unfortunately the pizzas took about 45 mins to come to the table with one a good 10 mins before the other 2 & one pizza had the wrong topping. There were 7 staff but 1 person seemed to be trying to do everything instead of letting others do their own work. Had to witness an altercation between a member of the public who had waited a considerable time for their take away order & this staff member, instead of apologising for the length of delay the staff member was quite verbal. So food tasty, waiting staff pleasant but the wait was far too long.

Old school Italian serving interesting and tasty Pizzas. Young staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Good ambience in small space and a lot of happy customers most taking away their left overs.

Had an enjoyable pizza. The staff were very friendly amd the atmosphere was great. They also have vegan cheese for their pizzas. There is the option to bring your own alcohol. Seating is limited inside the restaurant, but there is outdoor seating.

I love this restaurant. The staff are friendly, happy and efficient. The restaurant is small and fun. Very authentic Italian, family run restaurant with absolutely delicious food. I have had lunch and dinner here on many occasions and have never been disappointed . I've also had pizza delivery ,which was delivered on time, hot and delicious.

Nice small place for good pizza. Definitely book before arriving. One of the waitresses was little rude and slightly unpatient and someone behind the food bar started at us almost all the time, which was little off-putting. I would still go back again.

Dog was aloud outside with us and they even brought out a water bowl for her! Thank you to all staff pizza was amazing also!

Great pizza, and a varied menu so lots of choice. The absolute stand out here are the staff members. Attentive, professional, friendly. They really make this restaurant a notch above. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

I get a pizza delivered weekly and I've never been to Italy but I'd imagine their pizza would be like a traditional Italian pizza. Best I've tasted

Lovely little place with such helpful and accommodating staff. Food was faultless and portion sizes really good. Had a lovely chat with chef/owner and we thanked her for the quality of food and that we would be back.

Were only serving pizza for lunch, no pasta, but it was great pizza! Had one of the specials which was very good. Only negative was the swearing from the music as was there with children.

Keywords: Best pizza, friendly staff, decent prices. I've been to 67 different nations in my travels and almost all of them had some version of pizza. And in my home of Scotland there are some really really good pizza places. This one is the best. It's not even close. Restaurant located on the high street in Banchory and there's plenty of parking either on street or nearby there are couple of carparks. Dining room isn't huge but it's well decorated and cozy without being cramped. Staff are attentive and friendly. There is pasta here on the menu but I can't comment on that. The pizzas are the stars as far as I'm concerned. The toppings are top notch, the base is perfect and the cheese is good. It's obvious that the owners have taken the time to create wonderfully tasting pizzas. I had one of the their special's, the Ciro Pizza. Vegetarians often get forgotten in the world of pizzas but not this time. This pizza sang with complex tastes that all just fit perfectly. My wife had their signature pizza, the Mamma Mia and the homemade italian sausage stole the show. After our dinner, my wife and I were still talking about those pizzas for hours. No joke. She can normally take or leave pizza - she finished all of it but one slice which for me is a strong indicator of just how good it is. We will defo be back, this next time to introduce my daughters to this place! 10/10.

We experienced a very lovely welcome into the establishment. Ordered the bruschetta, calamari and were in love with the fresh foods delivered to us. The Lesia special pizza was amazing taking me back to my life in the Caribbean with the most delicious jerked chicken and pineapple. We ordered the Mama Mia and boy it didn’t diss appoint. So satisfied and filled to the brim we still made room for desert and got the most delicious limoncello desert with ice cream and cannolis and pans cotta. My husband and I had lunch at this restaurant today, 19August2022. Ordered calamari and a small size Contadina Pizza with peppers, mushrooms and onions. (You can have black olives as well.) For dessert we had one scoop of pistachio gelato and one scoop of gelato strawberry. We like everthing we ordered and the service is great. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

I am not a pizza fan and rarely eat a slice or two. Having had some of my husband's pizza - on 2 occasions - I now eat pizza but only at this restaurant. Fresh and local ingredients, hard-working, engaged and quick staff with a perfect level of care and interaction. The proprietor gives back to the community in so many ways with a modest and genuine heart. Local independent business - try it - you'll be converted.

Lovely authentic little place, great pizza!

As we now have the time, I thought I would jot down my review. Firstly, I will say that we should have read the reviews left on tripadvisor more carefully. A clear sign would have been how the owners backlash at anything other than a perfect review.... Having been fortunate enough to eat in some of the most fabulous restaurants in Italy, we felt that this experience, was well below par. I won't nitpick, but it was just not up to the standard we expect. The unfriendliness of the owner and the lack of atmosphere did not do the establishment any favours either.

I come to mama Mias regularly, love every experience and every dish. Bruchetta is amazing! Pizzas are all amazing and fresh ingredients made to order. It's by far the best place for pizza the whole of Aberdeen and the shire. Staff are lovely, warm and welcoming and we love the chats. Everything always spot on, perfection. Keep doing what you do guys, we shall see you soon! 20 out of 5 stars xx

A must when in Malta excellent service and food

We went here as a family of five. Excellent diner, very hospitable and the kind owner served us the lunch, which was only pizza (but that wasn't a problem). Food was delicious and fresh. The restaurant looked tidy and pleasantly decorated. Can definitely recommend.

First time in my life I was in an Italian place where coffee was that awful. The staff was nice, but it didn't help me forget the taste of that 'coffee'. Maybe they have delicious pizza, but definitely don't stay for coffee

Lovely staff, excellent food. Even Chef came out to chat. We had a very large party of diners, and Chef explained we could expect to wait, but it was worth it. Recommended.

Posh upstairs and old fashioned pizzeria downstair food excellent in both. Got to be on your list if staying or passing through Banchory. Top stuff.
