Have heard about this place from a friend, thought we should try it out. Nice and cozy, family run restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and the pizza was amazing. Toppings on the pizza were very generous unlike some of the other pizzerias

Very, very busy, and hence quite loud, for such a small venue. Pity they don't do pasta, but the pizza really is outstanding. Wonder if they could do a GF option for that.

I went to eat a pizza with a friend, and we enjoyed the food very much. The environment is nice, the waiters are really friendly. I will definitely go back to Mamma Concetta!

Oh this is just fabulous! The service and welcome are beyond expectation ! This is the sort of restaurant you could stay in all evening! Fabulous atmosphere! Loved the food , this is how all Italian restaurants should be! Make sure to book this place gets busy and deservedly so.

This was the first time me and a friend had food here, it was lovely, I am disappointed by the waitress who joined us at the table, I explained to her I don't have my glasses, I knew what pizza I wanted, apparently toppings are extra, so I asked her and she said there £1,my friends pizza came to £16 when we got the bit it was £60, this is not very nice , The owner is a lovely guy Alfonzo but unfortunately I won't be eating there again

Really lovely food, and hosts! Thanks so much for a wonderful evening :). I would definitely recommend mamma concetta to anyone looking to have a lovely lovely family night out in a great atmosphere. The only small downside was the music volume early in the evening. My dad has hearing aids and my kids are autistic and can get overwhelmed. We all managed anyway and the volume reduced later on, aldo to be fair didn't say anything. But I'd suggest maybe turning down the base and volume a bit. Though this did not in anyway detract from the lovely food and welcome. We hope to come back.

For starters the pizza is cooked FANTASTIC and genuinely the taste is amazing ! Iv travelled to Dubai a lot and I truly would compare this to Dubai pizza ! It’s very rare I leave reviews but you deserve it. Plus every single staff member is so polite to everyone no matter who or what you are so welcoming ! Respect ! & I ordered less cheese pls n you got it right ! Thank you

Nice authentic food, friendly attentive service & pleasant staff

We visited for an evening meal with friends in December 2023. Mama Concetta is a family run traditional Italian pizzaria serving the most delicious freshly made pizzas in a warm and homely atmosphere. We booked in advance which was good as the restaurant was very busy. Despite this, the staff were not stressed and delivered excellent service as well as absolutely delicious food. The pizzas here have traditional Italian toppings, all very tasty and freshly made, no deep pan stuffed crust here - they are very tasty. The desserts are also an excellent traditional Italian variety. Overall, we would wholly recommend this excellent pizzaria and will definitely return.

When pizza places are ten-a-penny these days, you have to go the extra mile to stand out, and Mamma Concetta delivers in spades. We managed to book for lunch today with very short notice and were told we’d have to sit in the garden area. This turned out to be great though – it was heated, away from the hubbub of the main area and had a more chilled-out vibe to it, and also gave the 4-year-old in our group the chance to run around to her heart’s content. The staff, who were all smiley, attentive and delightful, even brought pencils and paper for her. The food was decently priced, and tasted phenomenal – my pizza bianca was incredibly good, and everyone else was highly impressed with their choices too. The little details mount up to make a big difference – the chilli oil on the table; the blankets on each chair in case we felt cold; the excellent coffee, in a cup whose handle you can actually get a finger through, served with a separate jug of hot milk; the wonderful salad containing very good things like raddichio and lamb’s lettuce, with a perfectly-judged dressing; the inclusion of a selection of little, delicious cakes as an option on the dessert menu for those like me who can’t decide which one they want… wow. There are some superfluous apostrophes on the menu and on the signs on the toilet doors, but when this is the worst thing you can say about a place, you know you’re onto a winner. Ten out of ten for Mamma!

I almost don’t want to tell others about this gem! This place is wonderful! Proper Italian family run place. So welcoming. The pizzas are just incredible. I almost didn’t want to write this, as it will become even more difficult to get a seat in this little star of a restaurant!

I've been to mamma concetts many many times with friends and family food always good. But called there this evening with my husband to get takeaway pizza and was meet by a very rude abrupt member of staff that told me were I should stand like I was a child not ever a please does this person needs to learn some manners when dealing with the public.as customers pay her salary.

A lovely Pizza (Divalo) plenty of toppings of Pepperoni & Nudga with Red Peppers. Cooked in a traditional oven. The mixed salad was superb. The only disappointment for this Italian eatery was that they didn’t sell Red Italian Wine by the glass only Chilean!!! Friendly Service

Proper traditonal Italian Pizza! We order from them all the time and they have become famous within our friends and family whenever they come over to visit. Highly recommend the Salsiccia e patate Pizza or the Diavola. Very friendly staff and amazing food!

Really lovely place lovely atmosphere great food. Would certainly recommend to anyone comming to Bedford. Authentic Italian food, Authentic Italian atmosphere. My only down side, and this is only small! The music was a bit too loud, a thumping base that if up one notch more on some tracks might have been painful. But it didn't really detract from the great food and service :)

By Bedford standards this is a fantastic outlier. Dough is flavourful and well prepared. To be hypercritical, there are a few things keeping it from getting to the "Italian pizza" level. The main point which could be improved is the ingredients. I had the Napoli, and the olives, for example, tasted like generic tin olives. The tomato and mozzarella, although there was nothing wrong with them, were not bursting with flavour (as is possible). Anchovies can have a pleasant flavourful oiliness alongside the saltiness, but I didn't find it here. All this to say sourcing better ingredients could up the game to an even higher level - but then again seeing as everyone seems happy maybe it's not worth the extra cost :P

OMG! This was The BEST pizza I have eaten in ages!!! The Mortadella & Pistacchio was a first EVER & just left me stunned!!! Better than what I have eaten in 🇮🇹🤦🏻‍♀️! BRAVI 👏👏👏!!! The sourdough impasto incredible!! We will be back… even if we live an hour away 😂

I’ve had pizza all over the world let me Just say this is the best pizza by far outside Italy, the pizza is light as it should be, fresh and quick our the oven, the service was impeccable without being in your face, and the atmosphere was joyful with everyone being there to enjoy a good thing! A nice place to have pizzas and pasta. The ambience is warm and cosy. You can see the pizzas being made in the oven. The pizzas are neopolitan style. Fresh and delicious! They also do takeaways. The staff is friendly. It's a fairly popular place so better get a reservation, particularly on Fridays and week-nights :)

Pizza was absolutely stunning! Nice, family vibe atmosphere. I would recommend booking a table , especially on Saturday evening.

Reminiscing about the great time we had at this place last night! We spent the weekend in Bedford visiting relatives and decided to book this place, because we’re big pizza fiends and the reviews meant it made sense! Have not stopped thinking about the food all day! If you’re lucky enough to know what a proper Neapolitan pizza tastes like and have been chasing the dream of tasting it again… look no further! If you haven’t been to Naples before, then this place takes you there and back in one evening! This is hands down the best pizza outside of Naples! In fact I would go as far as to say that it could easily hold its own amongst the 100s of pizzerias in its birth City! The restaurant itself is casually quirky… named after the owner’s mother, with photos to couple that offer a little glimpse into the owners background with Italian memorabilia for days… including a real vesper hanging on a shelf from the ceiling, you’re hit with the scent of the wood fired oven as soon as you walk through the doors letting you know instantly that you’re in for a treat… the real deal! The relaxed, but upbeat vibe coupled with the warm and attentive welcome and service from the owner and the staff meant it was only fair to start with a round of Aperol Spritzes, which was followed by a number of bottles of delicious Primitivo throughout the meal that ultimately led to some singing and dancing at the end of our meal! We allowed the owner to recommend lots of things off the menu to share and boy did he not disappoint! Everything from pizzas, to pizza rolls to bruschetta meant that we were all able to try the classic Neapolitan pizza base with various different flavours! Highly recommend trying the Pizza Tartufo if you like truffle! I’m Italian and visit Naples most years and the pizza base is up there with the best I’ve tried! Hats off to the pizzaiolas as mastering this culinary delight is not easy! The pork meatballs in tomato sauce and oven roasted cracked pepper and salty ribs were delicious! But aside from the extremely high quality of the pizzas it was a bowl full of cheese and charcuterie that stole the show! Imagine a huge ball of creamy burrata that when cut open released loads of tiny balls of morzarella! It was truly next level! I have never seen or tasted anything quite like it! We finished with a round of espressos and some traditional Italian pastries, which were out of this world! We had such a lovely evening - from the food to the wine, service to the vibe it really was exceptional! The only thing I wasn’t happy about was leaving, knowing that this restaurant isn’t on my doorstep! The only saving grace is the avoided damage it would do to my waistline if it was, as I would be here every weekend! Cannot wait to go back!

Hands down the best pizza my family and I have had. We drove from Milton Keynes, and it's well worth the trip. Just make sure to book beforehand to avoid disappointment. If you're from Milton Keynes and miss made in sud pizza, I would argue Mamma Concetta is better, and I love made in sud.

Was so keen to get home and write this review in support of all the other 5 star reviews. I simply cannot be more complimentary. One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever received. Authenticity, politeness, quality of food, service of food, portion size all in abundance. We are returning customers but usually have take away pizza's, to have one fresh out of the oven is a completely different experience and one I encourage all to try. Will be supporting this business long into the future. Thank you for the service we received.

Fighting with Marcello for the title of best pizzas in town. Nice firewood oven that is mesmerising to look at. They are downtown and you can practically always ring to have some pizzas done in the next 15 minutes as long as you collect, no matter how busy they are.

After a spur of the moment to visit Bedford it was refreshing to stumble across this small but most inviting Italian Resteraunt. Upon entering we was pleasantly greeted by the owners daughter who was most accommodating with a warm welcome and quickly served up two traditional Pastries & Coffee. this was most enjoyable to the point of encoraging us to reserve a Table for later in the day for Dinner. The Tables and ceiligs are superbly decorated with Itallian memorabilia including real Vespa Scooter on display high up on a shelf. Rarely does anyone find today such nostalgia and excellent service from The Owner Alfonso and his staff to also include very good well prepared food at competative pricing. We congratulate and thank you all. We highly recommend this establishment and wish continued success for the future.

Visited with a group bookkng for weekday lunch. Really nice atmosphere. The service was super quick. Ordered La Divola pizza (spicy pizza) but wasn't too hot or spicy. Service was good and food for our large (10 people table) came out super quickly. All made fresh behind the counter, with a pizza oven in the corner of the restaurant. Will definitely go back again to try some more dishes and dessert.

We were supposed to go to another of the many Italian pizzeria in Bedford (apparently there is a huge Italian community here, due to a brick factory over 500 years ago that was employing a lot of Italian immigrants in the area). Anyway, the pizza was ALMOST perfect (for an Italian fussy pizza eater like me) the dough was delicious and burnt in the right places (if you have one of these all-even-doughs, with no bubbles and no little charred burnt parts here and there.. the pizza is not properly hand made with a dough recipe that ghost the Italian original one (there are many, but the general idea is that the pizza should follow certain standards). Got a pizza with pepperoni (many recipes were "British style" hence the ALMOST, although thank God there were no pineapple in the pizza menu!!!) and nduja (a spicy spreadable salami from Sicily), the pizza was very good and I will come back here if I was in the area. The pizza place itself is cosy and small, with an original 1070 Italian Vespa hanged on the ceiling!! A must for all Pizza lovers, and all Italians in the Bedford area!! Oh I almost forgot! They have original San Pellegrino fizzy drinks, you have to try the blood orange juice, if you never did (in the photos) Try it and subscribe to my review for more Italian, good food suggestions!!

Fantastic pizza, great atmosphere, friendly staff and interesting decoration. The La Diavola was really good, I highly recommend it! Next time I will ask for it without the pepperoni, just the N’duja is enough.

One of the top pizza places in Bedford. An easy choice every time. My friend and I normally get the Diavola pizza which has juicy pepperoni, tasty cheese, a fluffy crust and the right amount of spice to make it exciting. Friendly staff who know us. Never a long wait for food.

Mamma Concetta is situated in Harpur Street in the centre of Bedford. It is just over half a mile on foot from the railway station. We managed to get a table without prior reservation at around 1.30 on a Saturday lunchtime. It opens from 11-3 and 5.30-10 Wed-Sat. On Tuesdays, it is 10-3 only. I opted for La Contadina which is a vegetarian pizza consisting of San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, courgettes, aubergines and peppers. It was cooked in a wood fired oven and was delicious. The base was particularly good. To drink, we had a pleasant bottle of the house white, which was an Italian Sauvignon Blanc. Service was good and the restaurant’s ambiance was conducive to the meal. My pizza cost £11.95 and the wine £15.95. A most enjoyable lunch.

Service was amazing told the guy I was bringing a girl in a wanted to impress and was treated like an old friend when I walked back even offered more drinks past closing time.

Unfortunately (for me) they had the football on, which spoiled it, a bit, as there were some rude people eating at the same time. That said, the staff were lovely and the food was good. Very reasonably priced.

Went to this restaurant after having their takeaways twice and it was a lovely experience. Great pizzas as always, would highly recommend their diavolo, and their beef carpaccio was sublime!

Walked in and got a table for 4 today. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was fantastic will definately go again. Was great watching the homemade pizzas being cooked in the stone oven. Great atmosphere was realy welcoming and nice off staff to say goodbye and have a great day.

Most hospital service I have encountered. The staff couldn't have done any more to make our visit better. The food also was of a very high standard. Happy customer who will most definitely return again and again.

As a former New Yorker (Manhattan) living in the UK for the past 7 years, i have always complained to my poor English husband about the pizza being so horrible here, that was until I found Mamma Concetta! Great interia, not a huge amount of staff attention. Very rushed.. Could of done with a few extra bits but was hard to catch someone. Overall was delicious. My son said it was his fave pizza ever.. Will be back thanks.

Tasty wood fired pizza. Only been here for a takeaway. Fresh generous toppings, creative menu, fabulous taste. The base is tasty and filling, but not always strong enough to support eating from a takeaway box. Suggest eating in, or taking home. Also, one of my pizzas was only cut into quarters... If you are eating it on the move, ask for 8 ways ! My favourite pizza in Bedfordshire...
