Nice bar, cocktails looked nice, music was good and staff friendly. That's where the good points end. House wine was horrible, 1st time I have ever left a glass of wine unfinished. Fish and chips, fish was greasy, in fact was mainly batter, hardly any fish. The batter was a very strange off yellow colour. The venison burger did not taste anything like venison so god knows what it was. Asked for the chicken burger to come without bbq sauce, it came without the bbq sauce but also the bacon and the maple syrup. Those two ingredients were the only reason my son had ordered it. £75 for a lunch that was frankly crap and only 1 alcoholic drink which was undrinkable was a bit steep.

Stopped off here for lunch. Nice friendly staff, refreshing cold drinks, and lovely food. I had a cheese and BBQ hot dog, which chips and coleslaw, my wife had a honeyed chicken burger, and we shared some cheesy garlic bread and it was all lovely. Would visit again.

Came here for a weekend with the gals. We came for drinks and I couldn't rate these guys more. They let us sit at a table outside and eat our chippy, the service was so good. They were so friendly and attentive. Family run business totally deseving of your time. Big shout out to Colin the bouncer, what an absoloutly legend

I am well aware hospitality venues have had a difficult time during the pandemic and poor reviews are frowned upon , but I feel my experience should be brought to the attention of management. We visited over a weekend and did not receive good service. It was clear that there was not enough staff on but we felt that staff frustrations were taken out on some customers. The girl that served us was rather rude and the bloke on the bar also lacked customer service skills. The opposite table spoke to us and commented about how rude the staff are so we were not the only ones!Covid measures were displayed but not enforced very well. It was nice to see young people having a good time but social distancing is still required. I am classed as a vulnerable person so I did feel uncomfortable at times. Everyone in our group enjoyed the food and drinks, it is just unfortunate we were let down by the service!

Visited this bar trying to be a cafe while I was in aviemore with my sister. No track and trace taken for a start, guy on the bar wasn’t wearing a mask but had a lanyard on with no actual medical card so obviously just too lazy to wear a mask, incredibly disrespectful to those who genuinely can’t wear a mask. Staff were slow and couldn’t care less. Obviously understaffed. Would not recommend!!

Food was a bit bland, disappointing but staff were great and really friendly and welcoming. Hard times during Covid but everything in place to make sure customers felt safe enough!

We called in for a drink and were impressed with the food they were serving so we returned for a meal. We were not disappointed it was delicious. The menu is not vast and it is bar type food but it was still very good.The service was excellent on both occasions and their covid 19 steps were excellent. They all wore masks, cleaning was good, tables were socially distanced and people were asked to wait outside while a table was available.

Had a fab breakfast this morning. X 2 large breakfasts and x 2 omelette's. Omelette was freshly made and hit the spot. Good latte coffee. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Food was great. Decor is quite dated and needs a refresh, however food was excellent and staff were friendly.

Arrived at Mambos tonight with our masks on, but no check in at the door or at our table (unlike every other restaurant/bar venue tonight). We sat down and were served by a guy with no mask on. None of the staff were wearing masks.When we asked if they had a cocktail menu, our server picked up a cocktail list from another couple's table and gave it to us without sanitising it. We ordered without touching it but were then served our cocktails without straws.The table next to us then asked for the cocktail list and the same server picked the list off our table and put it on theirs.So that's 3 tables, and a member of staff in between, who have touched that menu without sanitisation. They have also served the rest of the clientele without wearing masks.Disgusting. People are dying.

Went for drinks with my wife on the sunday 13th sept 20 bar was busy seats are bar stools so not comfy the staff serving are pleasant only issue i had is i had a black floater in my pint and when i returned the glass they repoured without cleaning the glass you guessed it the floater was in the new pint so hence the reason i wont return this pub isnt a patch on the balavoulin for atmosphere in my opinion

Came across mambos for drinks in the evening by accident while on our way to walk somewhere else and decided it looked good inside. We were not dissapointed!! Amazing atmosphere despite current restrictions on music which can sometimes make bars awkwardly quiet. Also great friendly service!Great cocktails although they stop at 10pm. Open until 1am the night we went which was amazing, didn’t know/expect anywhere would be open this late.

We came here on our annual visit to Aviemore. Although we were unable to book due to walk in only rule, due to people not turning up when booking during these Covid times. On our first night of our holiday, we were certainly not disappointed. Very attentive, hardworking staff, friendly and efficient, food was excellent and very family friendly with a lovely, relaxing atmosphere! We were so impressed we went back a few times and our son and daughter could not get enough of the chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. Our daughter also loved seeing and speaking to the staff who were very pleasant and went the extra mile and nothing was a problem. We had booked a quite expensive restaurant for our 20th wedding anniversary which was a complete disappointment, we'd wished we had gone to Mambos, as we knew they would have made it special and the food was very good value for money and to a high standard and most importantly the kids loved it! Looking forward to coming in May 2021! See you soon

Friendly staff and tasty burgers. Its a simple no thrills menu, but the food is good and it hits the spot. Ideal for an easy meal out out. It is a shame we couldn't a book a table prior to arriving but as we ate on a midweek date it was not an issue getting a table. Would happily return.

It was our first night in Aviemore and managed to get in here with no problems. The staff were friendly and the food was decent. We both had burgers which were great and the cocktails were even better. Social distancing was managed really well which was a plus. Its a small wee place with a good atmosphere. It's a great option if you are after a simple, no fuss bar meal.

Had dinner at Mambos last night and very good it was too. Lovely pint of Punk IPA which is strangely absent in the town otherwise, wine was okay, not super spritzy. My wife had the Med Veg Wrap which was pretty good, and finally in Aviemore hot fully cooked chips! I had the Chicken Burger and it was great. The two guys working were super busy but professional and friendly.

The burgers and cocktails are totally worth visiting. Was not a drink or a plate of food that was not fantastic!

Had a couple of cocktails in Mambos they were very good the staff were very helpful and the food looked really nice over all very nice place for drinks and food.

Having been told earlier that they didn't take bookings we went do the door to be approached by a female member of staff. I asked if ther was any availability , her reply was "We are fully booked " I then asked if it was ok for us to wait outside until one became available. Again her reply was " we are fully booked all night so no!" We stood back from the door for a few moments when another couple asked the same thing but was told " yes there will be a table in about 10 minutes"The same female waitress came outside to speak to other people so I approached her to see why she has told us what she had done. As she was I front of other people she proceeded to lie about what she told us as a family, turned the other way and walked away whilst I was still talking to her! My Two children and my husband and I are very upset at the way this member of staff was win us and now I have to deal with my two very hungry children who are also confused how someone can lie to their face ! Very bad customer service and a apauling attitude! Will never recommend due to this staffs attitude! Discusting behaviour from her.

Service was great, food was utterly fanstastic for me and the kids, went here .while on our holiday.

Slow waiting staff and average food.Pork and chips was alright, but I am glad we went during the eat out to help out deal as I think £12 for a plate oven frozen chips with a bit of pork on would have been a proper rip off.

Had lunch outside with my daughter. Good service and tasty food n drinks. Strawberry dajori was amazing and pork fries.

Went to this place a couple of weeks ago me and hubby got the hot dogs with everything on it. It was disgusting, not worth £12 the chips weren’t cooked and as for the chilli on top of my hot dog it tasted out of a tin!!! Asked for my littles boys nachos not to come covered in sauce and to have on the side!! Took ages to get forks and knifes to eat our food!! No one asked if everything was ok with our food. Basically left all our meals and they never asked a thing!!! Don’t waste your money here guys it’s revolting!!!

Visited for the first time with family while on holiday. Chilled atmosphere which is great considering the current restrictions of covid-19. We had pre-cooked our table and glad we did as it can get busy. Menu choice was ok. You tend to get the same food types in all the pubs/restaurants in aviemore. Kids menu is really good. I had a fantastic chicken burger! Completely recommend it. Great options for drinks too. Draft Cola could be a bit better as was a bit too much soda mix. Prices great and excellent service. Worth a visit!

We unfortunately broke down just outside Aviemore (turbo chucked it in our Campervan) had a wander through the town and found Mambos Cafe Bar really good food, the girls serving were excellent very friendly with great customer service. I would highly recommend a visit. Great afternoon sitting in the sunshine with a few chilled beers.Top notch !Thanks Mambos for making our trip

We were staying in Aviemore for a short family visit.We were struggling to find a suitable restaurant as everywhere was really busy. All we wanted was a quick evening meal and thankfully got a table at Mambos.We were met by very friendly staff who explained the COVID-19 restrictions.The menu had lots of options for both adults and kids. The food arrived quickly and was all very nice. Good value for money. Overall very good for a quick meal. Will definitely return.

Great place, relaxed and reasonably priced. Staff really friendly. Dogs and kids allowed. Pool table was a welcome break from the weather although the cue was bent and could do with replacing. Apart from that, top marks.

Really friendly staff- never got the name of the girl who served us but she was great, full of chat and attentive. Sure the bar is a basis in appearance but it’s ideal for the location, I did almost see my life flash before me almost going through a couch :) Thanks for looking after us and two noisy chihuahuas :)

We visited here recently while staying in the area. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly and the service very good as well as the prices being reasonable. The kids had bowls of chips which were good!

We always visit Mambos when in Aviemore, popped past several times during our October holiday, mostly just for a drink on the way back to our accommodation after an afternoon walking. Dog friendly, relaxed ambience, pool table, good pint, nice coffee, good hot chocolate, friendly staff, tables outside if the weather is nice. We didn’t eat this time but have done in the past and it’s always been good.

Really surprised to see brew dogs clockwork tangerine and punk ipa on in here. Staff are friendly in here. And the drinks are a reasonable price. One suggestion I would make, if they could paint the walls. There is a few marks and it very noticeable and let’s the place down a little. I’d happily come back.

Not the bonniest of places, feels like it's geared up for evening and very basic decor. Few young folk playing pool in the corner and half expected wee bit of live music to start too..not a huge menu but we like that

Lively Bar Lounge think its the place to be mainly for the younger crowd but ok with oldies like me. Loud music lively atmosphere small podium for dancing, bouncers on the door were very friendly and just a good fun bar.

£10 for macaroni cheese, peas and chips. Not cheap but the same - often without the peas and chips - will cost you more elsewhere in Aviemore. £5 for a pint of brewdog punk ipa is ok given it's a tourist centre. Mambos is a dark, cosy, friendly place. Near empty on a September week night, I's imagine it could rock at the weekend in high season.

We went to a cocktail making class here for my friends hen party there for 15 of us and what a great we had. The class was great, such a laugh with the boys, Colin and Carl. The cocktail options were good and everyone got to make what they wanted in the groups of 3. The boys had to put up with 15 ladies fuelled with alcohol and couldn’t have been more accommodating for us which was great, we even got a few tables reserved for later on. Everyone had a great time and memorable experience.

Loving Scotland but there are only so many stovies, soups, and pies I could eat. Mambos served up good food, I had the chicken burger with piri piri fries, and the staff was great. You can’t ask for more.

A few of us ventured down from our lodge to experience what Aviemore had to offer on a Thursday night. Unfortunately, the town was dead (apocalyptically quiet) apart from one lively bar - Mambos!

Popped in here last week for a meal wish I’d tried mambos first fish & chips was excellent chilli dog was so good and the staff so friendly and the chap behind the counter was so knowledgable with the cocktails when were next in aviemore it will be our first stop for food it is also dog friendly

Not really vegetarian friendly with 3 veggie choices on the menu. Servers were friendly on arrival. Dog friendly.

Faith and Matthew were amazing, excellent customer service . On our arrival they both made us feel very welcome . Very friendly staff , who work very hard and ensure everyone has a good welcome when they visit there. Food was good too .

I have eaten at Mambos twice now because the macaroni is simply the best macaroni I have had at a restaurant. I often choose mac and cheese when I’m dining on ‘pub grub’ and it always tastes the same. This macaroni however is in a league of its own. The chef puts a bit of heart into the meal and you notice that with the flavours - and extra cheese of course. The young waitress that served me both times I have eaten here has been brilliant and is a credit to the establishment. If you are passing through Aviemore I urge you to stop by Mambos for a bite to eat!

Great place to eat. We ate lunch there twice in 3 days. V friendly and helpful staff even when coping with a very busy wet Sunday lunchtime in Aviemore. Good menu and the food excellent - eldest son is still raving about the Oreo sundae! It was a warm sunny day on our other visit and they let us bring our dog and made sure she had some water. Highly recommend.

Great little cafe that sold huge sandwiches would definitely return for that alone. friendly staff and clean.

We stopped in here on a Sunday night with two older teenagers and our dog based on the reviews of others and a quick look at the menu. From the start it was clear that there was something afoot. The young gent who served us was quick to tell us that the chef would be stopping in 15 minutes so we’d need to have starters at the same time as the mains though when I’d asked earlier in the day I was told 20:30 was the latest the teens could stay and no mention of an early bath for the chef! I had a margarita which was pretty potent! The food was pretty good bar menu food but, apart from the chilli nachos, not exciting. The nachos were fantastic and the portion proved too big! The staff then explained that they were in the middle of a crisis with water coming through the ceilings in the toilets and now beginning to come through the ceiling of the main seating area. With a karaoke night to host and no plumbers willing to answer their emergency they were all a bit stressed - no wonder! We didn’t stay for the karaoke but wished them luck with the rest of the night!

First time here in a few years but it didn't disappoint. A friendly welcome and excellent service, great food and drinks. Kids allowed in till 8.30pm. The nachos with pulled pork were to die for.

I always try and squeeze in a visit to mambos when I’m in Aviemore since it’s such a great place for drinks.

We visited here a couple of times for drinks during our weekend stay in Aviemore. The service was excellent on each visit and every member of staff we came in contact with had a great, friendly attitude. The drinks were good too and not overpriced. The food also looked great, although we didn’t eat on our visits. Would absolutely recommend a visit if you’re in Aviemore.

Had a wonderful and patient teacher in Colin, who put up with our willie straws and ya finding him attractive very well. Would definitely come again, it was wonderful!

Would 100% recommend Mambos for the cocktail making class and ask for Colin he was absolutely brilliant and so patient with us! Cocktails were beautiful. Well worth the money!!

It's difficult to describe the type of place this is exactly. By day is a place to eat, and by night is a pub with karaoke nights and a pool table. Our visit was for our dinner after a day out. I was slightly concerned as they don't take bookings so I want sure we'd get a table. However we arrived at about six and got a seat no problem, those that arrived later weren't so lucky. The staff are fantastic, friendly, helpful, and very hard working. How to of them covered the bar and all of the tables is beyond me. They also have a selection of board games for you to play whilst you are waiting for your food. A family close to where we were sitting we playing Cluedo, which they continued after their meal. The food was great. Although it was busy the wait want too long, and the food was warm and fresh. I have no idea how theyb get their chicken goujons, fries, and onion rings so crispy, but they're light, crisp and delicious. We will be back, and may use this as a regular stop off when traveling to the far north.

We struggled to find somewhere we could get something to eat with the dogs in tow in Aviemore. It was sunny and too hot to leave the dogs in the car when we went for lunch. The bar advertised that they were pet friendly and we weren’t disappointed. As soon as we opened the door the service was brilliant. Food was excellent. We’ll definitely eat here again. One of only 3 food establishments in Aviemore which allow dogs in. All I can say is that all the other places which serve food in Aviemore and come out with the dross about food hugiene etc— your loss. Definitely will be going back to Mambos.

Thought we’d try Colin and Gabs Deep House night. Being middle aged we were a bit concerned that we were ‘passed it’ but to our surprise there was a range of ages. People there to enjoy the music which I must say was very good. The careful placement of speakers also ensured a good sound at a good level that didn’t leave your ears ringing the next day. Musicianship 10 out of 10. Bar staff incredibly friendly and door staff very welcoming and personable. Mambos, class act.

Amazing food ! I’m fussy and I am vegetarian but also celiac and so difficult for me to find something tasty especially in rural places, but at mambos I had an amazing gf five bean burger! My hubby was happy too with his lunch and they welcomed our wee dog so much he didn’t want to leave ! Treats and water for him and lots of fuss. Would highly recommend

Popped into this wee place in a bit of a hurry but in need of a good scran. I had a chicken burger and my boyfriend had a beanie with halloumi! Both were fantastic. My chicken burger was amazing, big fresh cooked chicken breast, nice fresh cooked chips. Staff were nice and friendly! Place seemed busy and good atmosphere (considering it was only lunch time!), would revisit again, but that was our last day in Aviemore! Very good!

Was a very comfortable and chill restaurant, we came here every night as it was cheap and cheerful! The staff were actually amazing constantly on there feed doing things at 100 mph to make sure everyone was fulfilled and happy! 10/10

Checked this place out first on their website as needed a dog friendly place to eat, we have been to Aviemore many times but the first with our dog. The staff very friendly and the food good. After we sat down a member of staff came over asked would our dog like a drink and a treat. Once settled in we ordered lunch soup and a sandwich which were both delicious.. Would recommend Mambos and would visit here again when next in Aviemore

Visited Mambos today, Sunday 6th Jan 2019. We were welcomed by Jen, who was super friendly, smiley and delighted to see everyone who walked through the door!

We came for drinks during the Christmas eve procession and it was a great atmosphere with fantastic cocktail offers on between 5-10pm. Came back for lunch and tea. Great food reasonably priced but not comprised in the taste. Good evening venue for all ages plus dog friendly

Can not fault this place at all! Me and my partner had the best experience when coming to you guys for food and drinks, we were welcomed by a lovely young lady who was always smiling and cheery and all the bark staff which made us feel so welcome! We stayed for food which was really good but...the cocktails oh my probably the best I have tasted in a long time, it was that good that we came back the next day for pancakes and more cocktails, we will definitely be back

went for coffee. tatty inside. coffee cold but was replaced on complaint. ugly mugs. sadly not a nice experience. go up to explorers for a coffee. puts mambo to shame

Mambo’s is a cafe and pub during the day and a music bar at night. We went for a drink mid afternoon and service was good and drinks nice and not expensive.

Stayed in Aviemore for a week. Went here a few times and had a coffee to take away. Very attentive staff every visit. All four of us loved our lunch. Dog friendly which was great. Best coffee I have had. Roll on our return visit next year.

Flew in here out the sleet to grab a drink,

dropped in as a party of 7 and were seated straight away, our server was extremely pleasant, good choice of vegetarian food and a good kids menu. All plates were cleared and sadly no room for pudding.

Popped in here as dog friendly just looking for coffee and a cake. Do not do cakes so had coffee and a starter instead. Was so good we both felt disappointed we had a cooked breakfast earlier as would have liked to have had a meal. Service friendly and efficient. Would definitely return for a meal if in area again
