Went for a cheap midweek holiday in the hotel. The hotel itself is cheap and cheerful nothing amazing but we paid less than £100 for a 3 night stay for 2 of us. But with the bar being in the building we expected the same. It really wasn’t, cheap cocktails at bargain prices and they were very well made. The 2 staff on Friday did the work of 5 very very good. In summary, premium drinks and service at bargain prices.

Visited this bar just after 7pm on Friday night after seeing a notice and being told the reception staff at the Scarisbrick hotel that it was open from 7pm. We found 2 young men (staff) sat the bar eating their dinner. When we asked if they were open firstly they ignored us, then one said (without looking up from his food) ‘no’. We pointed out that the opening times outside said they were open from 7pm, to which we were told that it ‘didn’t or if it did was one of the old signs’ and they wouldn’t be open until ‘about’ 8:15pm - needless to say we left and didn’t return!

Although I live in St Helens, I am a regular visitor to Southport and have been so for many years. Accordingly I have a good knowledge of the many "eateries" in the town. I first tried one of the "2 for £10" meals at Maloneys kitchen for the first time about 18 months ago. I must have returned for the same meal deal 8 or 9 times since. Whilst the food has always been good rather than outstanding, there is no doubt that it has been amazing for the price, and also includes a hot drink! However, during my most recent visit with my wife 2 weeks ago, I have to say that the meals were outstanding. The roast pork lunch was infinitely better than one that I had paid more than twice the price for at a local upmarket pub, and the all day breakfast was simply the best breakfast I have ever had. The eating area will divide opinion and can best be described as quirky. I personally love it as it has a great "retro" feel about it, although the rest of the family are not too keen. Staff have always been polite, efficient and friendly which is always a bonus.

Was sat eating our meal today 20/05/19 poor service from a rude waitress at 1410 when an older couple came and sat down and the waitress stated to the couple who had been sat for a while waiting to be served and stated very abruptly and in my opinion extremely rude that they are closed and not serving so the couple had to leave the Restaurant Red Faced in tis day and age a little courtesy and respect should be observed by staff having run a company for many years it takes seconds to ruin a reputation

I'd passed through this place a few times en route to the Spindles Health Club downstairs, when it was empty, and quite eery. The black floor and peculiar decor gives it a dark surreal feel and I always whipped through sharpish! I also saw it when it was banging on weekend nights. Loud...On a Sunday lunchtime however, when the neon was aglow and the fairy lights were sparkling it felt far less foreboding, so my friend and I popped in for a light bite before heading home after a weekend break. Other diners were all middle-aged or elderly, and quiet. My cream scone and coffee were very pleasant. The scone was large, fresh and gently warmed through. Served with a pot of jam and a mini mountain of whipped cream it was a treat! The coffee was ok, though a touch weak. I'd requested a small pot of hot water in case it was strong, but this certainly wasn't required. My friend fared less well. Her tuna sandwich lacked any dressing, and she described the accompanying side salad as 'stale and disgusting'.Overall, I'd say this spot is okay for a budget bite, but choose your time to visit with care. The ambience and clientele changes markedly according to the hour and the day.

Not a bad bar. Had a nice time and a good dance. People friendly. Only problem was the bar staff don't use measures to pour spirits, they do it free hand. I observed some people's drinks being short measured. If you don't watch them then you only get a small drizzle. Management should do something about it.

Last visited this bar about 6 years ago so decided to return and see what had changed over the years, the answer was nothing at all, it was excactly as I remembered it looks badly dated dark and dusty badly in need of a refurb. On the plus side we had a couple of cocktails which were still good and cheap and bartender was good at his job. But please owners please have a revamp to bring it up to date.

Visited while we stayed here on holiday. The bar was pitch black, young people at bar knocking back cocktails with the encouragement of the bar staff, two young lads, and our feet was sticking to the floor. Liked the Irish theme and fun of the decor but seriously needs a good clean. A disaster.

Took my elderly mum, my son, niece & great nephew to Southport on a cold Sunday January afternoon, just for a walk around to get out of the house. We were all cold and hungry when we decided to fond somewhere to eat, and by chance, Maloney's bar was the first place we came across. The food we ordered was well cooked, tasty and great value for money. We all had a main meal, and three of us had dessert. We also had a couple of soft drinks, plus tea & coffee. The whole meal came to a very reasonable £34. The surroundings were a bit tired, but spotlessly clean. Service & staff were very pleasant and very helpful indeed. Over all, it was very enjoyable and great value for money.

Went here recently as this was rather place to be when I lived in Southport, what a shock I was in for. The hotel has the same decor, carpets and fittings that were there 20 years ago, it is badly in need of a refurb, especially as there is such a modern hotel opposite and a couple of very nice bars too. It was dead when we went in but we still waited nearly 10 minutes to get served even though there were at least 5 bar staff on (one had a broken hand!!) We had one drink and left, to say the place has gone downhill is an understatement. Had its day and we won't be back

Visited this cafe a couple of years back and the food was really good, value for money and the place was clean and well run. To say my lunchtime experience today was different is an understatement. There were lots of tables that had not been cleared it cleaned. I felt sorry for the two young girls who were trying hard to take orders and keep things ticking over. At least 3 tables walked out whilst we were waiting to order. I had a tuna mayonnaise sandwich with cucumber, the cucumber was extra. When the sandwich came it was clearly on value brown bread, a tiny bit of side salad and a teaspoon of coleslaw for £7..95 is not value for money in my eyes! The coffee was good but that was the only positive. Such a shame as this used to be a nice place.
