I recently dined at mallus restaurant!! The moment i walked in i was greeted with warm aroma of spices.. The menu offered a wide range of traditional authentic and delicious dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed the food!!

First time I've been here,went with a couple of friends and there elderly grandma, amazing help extremely kind,helpful,thoughtful,there manners were amazing wish more people had manners like this anyway the food we'll what can I say? The food was amazing, tasty, well presented not too much but not too small a portion. Lovely clean place and I will definitely be coming back here x

My husband and I came here for my birthday having not dined here before. We like Indian cuisine but we were very very impressed with all of the dishes we had. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu items - we ordered vegan dishes and were reassured upon arrival of our food that it was vegan. Vishwa was an incredibly attentive server. Very vegan friendly - clearly labelled on their menu and plenty of choice. Even some items that can be made vegan upon request. Highly recommend!!

This was my first time trying an Indian-style restaurant in Maidstone. I spent around £80 for two adults and two kids, without any desserts or alcoholic drinks. While the taste of the food was good, the portion sizes were disappointingly small for the price, especially compared to what I’m used to at Sri Lankan-style restaurants. Additionally, the service was quite slow—we waited about 30 minutes for our starters and nearly an hour for the main course, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. It seemed like there might have been only one chef working in the kitchen. It was okay to try once, but I’d consider coming back only if the portion sizes or prices were adjusted to better meet customers expectations.

I live in Eastbourne, we have Ashoka, a perfect Indian food restaurant. I often visit my family in Maidstone. We ate at Mallus (first time) on the 22nd August for my Grandsons 12th birthday. The service was excellent, the food perfect in EVERY way. Very clean and perfect table set up.. Mallus is favourably comparable to Ashoka in EB! The popadoms were so fresh and tasty, the Nan bread was light and delicious, the curries just so delicious, the rice was fluffy and so tasty. I was v impressed, we will eat there again, no doubt. The thing is the prices are so reasonable, really a good price to eat out (I was paying for 5 people!) for such delicious Indian cuisine. Thank you Mallus, you do a fantastic job. See you again soon. Went there yesterday for dinner after checking reviews and pics on google. We arrived at 9:25pm but the restaurant door had a closed sign on the door. Guy at reception did not even bother to come to the door and explain the reason for closing early. There were customers inside eating dinner, looks like staff didnt wanted to work. Luckily there is a new restaurant next door who served us delicious food snd we paid s bill Of £100+ there.

Could not fault anything. The decor of the restaurant was really nice (not what I expected from the outside), the service was faultless with friendly and informative staff, and the food was one of the nicest curries I’ve ever eaten. The menu made a nice change from your usual Indian restaurant. My strawberry mojito was also amazing and made fresh. Will definitely be back and will recommend to my friends and family. 10/10.

Wow. What a fabulous restaurant! We had a warm welcome, friendly and attentive service and there was a great ambiance. But most importantly, the food is amazing. Perfectly cooked, flavoursome, balanced and interesting. The menu is very descriptive too which helps to pick out great dishes for people who aren't familiar with them. Thank you to everyone at Mallus for a wonderful evening. We will be back!

Authentic South Indian food, my entire family was very satisfied and we even got take away for the rest of the family. We will be back very soon.

The WORST restaurant I have EVER been too. I never write reviews when I haven’t liked something just incase it was a one off, but due to this being so terrible it has to be done. The food was AWFUL, 2 out of the 4 of us bit into our chicken & found a bone, bones in the chicken which was very offputting, 2 out of the 4 was outside smoking, when I bit into bone I then went outside also due to feeling really sick, the staff then took our plates of the table where the last person was eating (the bone was in a i tissue I spat it in on the plate) when I then came back in and the last person was finished with the food we then asked for the bill & I explained about the bone, they was not understanding at all & refused to do anything because we did not show the bone, I was trying to explain I didn’t get a chance too because when I went of feeling sick they had taken the plate with the bone in the tissue, therefor did not have the chance to show them, they was very rude & refused to accommodate, they also kept repeating that “the chef is certain there was no bones” blatantly excusing us of lying & not taking accountability, ontop of that the curry’s tasted VERY sicky & not right. When we got home one of us was on the toilet & 2 of us had cramps. The staff was also not friendly at all & it did not give off a good atmosphere, they did not once come over to ask if we was enjoying it they also only asked once if we wanted anything to drink. I am Very dissatisfied & disappointed. The response is a TOTAL lie. No discount was asked of at all & I said over & over again the bone was in the tissue on the plate which was taken! You claim ‘boneless chicken’ but why did two of us find bones then? also after finding the bone I did not eat anymore of my curry AT ALL! my plate had a lot of food left on it! Only 2 out of the 4 of us had eaten the food. The 2 of us that found a bone left our food. & just to add we have all been unwell today, being sick & on the toilet! there is no need to lie. Thankyou for your response & I hope your restaurant improves. Thankyou!

This is my new favourite restaurant in Maidstone. Happened upon it by chance and we loved everything about it. Fantastic service, delicious food, beautiful decor and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning!

I phoned initially (as this was our first time there PLUS we had just minutes before been 100% let down by another curry house that implied it was open..but in fact..was not after 1300! However as it turned out "their loss was OUR gain") Phone was answered after just a couple of rings by the waiter we met later at the door who had excellent phone manners is both very polite and professional. On arrival we 3 were met in a very friendly way with service provided being at the right medium (not intrusive but polite and there when needed) Food on arrival was to say they have a very good chef that matched the service. It was EXCELLENT! On getting the bill it was noted it had been very reasonably priced. The vindaloo (both lamb and chicken) was not overly hot..(I do like hot so this could be subjective) also ordered the speciality beef Ijularth which was EXCELLENT. We will definately return..and also recommend highly..FULL STARS from all 3 of us... Keep it going....

Great food made by great people. As far as Maidstone goes, this is the most authentic cuisine you will get, and by far the best Tilapia I’ve ever had. Worth every penny

Disappointing experience at Mallus couple of days ago. Vada was soaking in oil , hoppers with egg roast had no taste and mains did not taste good as how it used to be when it opened last year. Quality has gone downhill while prices have gone up.

A group of us decided to meet up and use this restaurant as a place to have a lovely meal! Well, on entering the premises, it seemed a welcoming place and the restaurant was nicely laid out, but for us thats where the ambiance stopped! We had already preordered our meals, we also found your menu, very limited, to any Indian Restaurant we have ever visited! The starters were very hit & miss! None of the usual choice of starters like ( Prawn Pirri, no meat samosas, only vegetable ones, which again is not everyone’s choice! Your onion Bhajis, were the worst we have ever eaten! They were that flat, just like a pancake, hard, tasteless, and greasy! The curry’s were brought out, not in any sort of order, so people had there curry’s sitting there quite a while before they got there rice! Therefore food getting cold! The Nan bread, in our case Peshwari, was very flat, and didn’t taste of coconut! Again, no offer, of desserts, or coffee! Most Indian restaurants give you, when you’ve paid your bill, orange segments, a chocolate, and hot towels for wiping your hands! So all in all, would we visit again, I think you’ve guessed!

Just as the interiors of the place the food doesn't disappoint. Was pleasantly surprised. The food tasted amazing. Loved the madras curry with parotha, Also the lamb biryani was flavorful. Chicken lollipop was juicy and flavorful too. Quantity of the Biryani and Lamb curry was good except for the chicken lollipop £ 7.95 for only 3 pieces. Also if the size of the parothas could be a little bigger would have been great. Just a suggestion would be nice to give some mouth freshners if possible along with the bill or kept at the counter. Will definitely be visiting again.

Been to many restaurants in Kent , but this is one of the best restaurants - South Indian I been too.

Delicious traditional style food just like you find in London. Very happy to have this as a local restaurant.

The cuisine here is nuanced, compared to your usual Indian food and far more subtle and authentic...but ultimately, delicious. It has been a long time since I have had an egg in a dish and it was great. For those expecting their 'usual' curried vegetable side with their biryani may be disappointed to find this does not come accompanying their at this place, but, of course, the waiter will honour your bespoke addition if you request it. The lamb biryani they DO serve, though, comes with very light, fragrant rice and plenty of lamb, and the dahl is wonderful and not runny. A couple of words of caution: 1) The poppadoms are a smaller, trendy-size (I did say this foid was more subtle didn't I?) and the establishment seem to default add service to bills. p.s. Oh, and the fish curry is wonderfully fragrant and tasty too. This is a must visit if you are bored of your usual curry house

What a wonderful experience. I have eaten southern Indian food before but never with such a riot of flavours and textures. The atmosphere is serene and the staff full of help and smiles!!

Wow. Pleasure to have found this place. I haven’t had Keralan food before and my friend ordered for us - these small, crispy balls.. the dry beef curry… sorry I can’t be more specific, but wow. This was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. Oh, and the bathroom is beautifully appointed (always something which I notice at a restaurant), and very clean. Wow.

We went to Mallus for Vishu Sadhya (vegetarian Kerala feast) and it was one of the best we have had in the UK. Every dish was spot on, a sumptious spread indeed. Will definitely be coming back , highly recommend.

Nice curry house in Maidstone. Service is fairly good. Decor and ambiance is good. Prices are reasonable. Traditional curry house favourites such as Chicken Tikka Masala/Butter chicken are done very well . But the Keralan/Southern speciality dishes are interesting too. The Keralan chicken curry was not as nice as the butter chicken. Keralan paratha is disappointing. Like normal frozen paratha but shredded up almost in spirals. Adippan Aadu starter is truly delicious (abit like rendang). But better as a main dish. No menu choice of egg rice, but could be asked for perhaps. Lemon rice is ok. All in all it's a good restaurant.

Mallus provide dishes with authentic style, they have a good Kerala style ambience inside.
