I have been coming here for over 20 years and it has never failed to be less than brilliant! The chicken nazakat is excellent and the garlic chilli naan! The service is always fantastic and delivered with a smile. If only they have a restaurant in Beaconsfield!

Spot on curry , perfectly made by my brotherly neighbours in Gerrards Cross , staff are lovely & food is as tasty as ever , you can’t go wrong in this establishment, altho im not familiar with every dish on the menu, so malik bespoke makes my meals according to my taste this time I had chicken jalfrezi keema , which was the perfect lunch , highly recommended, for all - many thanks

Wonderful Indian restaurant in Gerrards Cross. The menu is extensive with a good selection of vegetarian options. There is an excellent wine list. The food was superb and the service impeccable.

Trust me , this is by far the best curry served here- I have been a loyal customer since Maliks opened , nearly 20 yrs ago & can honestly say the quality is consistent- which is difficult for any food business to sustain with Chefs coming/going etc but Maliks has done it- the owner has become like a brother to me - ive got a business next to him & I get my food fresh everytime. Theres no competition here, an opulent restaurant, well established & always perfect for me , as a head up I always order chicken Bhuna, pilau rice & chicken tikka with garlic naan & never tire of the amazing taste, everyone Ive taken there , has always been 100 % impressed with the all round quality. We were looking forward to going to this restaurant for our meal before we flew back to Portugal, we struggled to find it as there is no signage outside stating Maliks. We had to park the car and walk to find it,when we did we went, in there was no atmosphere no music playing very quite. The food was average and drinks extremely costly and when we got our bill which was nearly £90.00 for 3 poppadums 2 mains 1 pilau rice and a naan bread 1 bottle cheapest white wine on wine list £26 and 2 small bottles of beer which were £6 per bottle they also added a 10% surcharge. So imo very costly and not good enough.

Came to Malik's Gerrard Cross for Easter lunch buffet, as we have had good experiences with their buffet before. They were about 20 minutes late putting the food out, but despite this the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. The manager admonished us as we were originally booked as a table of 4, but two of our number had to cancel at the last minute. He said "You should have told me, as we put you on a bigger table, and now I have to cancel your others off the system." We definitely would have told him had the restaurant not been completely empty except for one other couple. True enough, but this manager's rudeness was only getting started. He announced after 40 minutes that the buffet would be closing at 1:30. A member of the other couple in the restaurant asked him why the buffet was not staying open until the advertised 2pm, and he said "...you have had 90 minutes to eat.." - which was not true due to the delayed start. The final straw came when my wife went to the loo and used the handicapped toilet as she did not want to walk up the 3 steps to the main ladies' toilet due to a torn ligament in her knee. This manager told her: "You used the wrong toilet." She had to explain her injury to him, and he still replied: "You should have asked me.." Really ? Thats just enough to ensure we never return to this Malik's - ever. You may feel entitled to be rude and treat others as your inferiors, but you can't do that here and keep customers. No wonder the place was empty - great food, but bad attitude.

I thought i will never leave a bad review here,but i used to be a customer here for a long time and i realised a lot of things changed. Firstly the food had changed a lot,i think is not the same chef anymore. The service is really bad,they don’t even care about customers. The waiters just walking around or sitting on their phones in the bar area. Unfortunately i will not come here anymore,and i won’t recommend to my friends either.

Food is ok (dodge the duck) some bland, pilau rice was like plain rice. Nahns and condiments were excellent. Very long wait for mains - 45 mins approx we were a table of 8 with children. We had booked the table for 7pm, other tables who arrived later were served before us. Service was ok… we had to ask for drinks. We were passed complimentary chocolates and the bill but we were going to order desserts - maybe they wanted us out for the next reservation. We went to the restaurant a month previously for a family celebration and must mention that the service was poor - this was due to a very rude impatient waiter with attitude which was totally unnecessary and quite uncomfortable but luckily he wasn’t there this time. We won’t be going again as my sister was unwell all night sick.

Nicely decorated restaurant with delicious food and extensive menu. Good sized portions,all piping hot and well presented. Though staff not very attentive - had to ask for everything: can we order drinks, can we have menus, can we order food and get the bill after having dishes cleared ten minutes before. A bit of attention and service in exchange for the 10% added service charge would be good. 4/5 but could easily be 5/5 with a bit more attention to service.

Treated my sister and sister in law like poo . All because they was same sex couple. Very nasty and rude. Was like Karen’s diner complete and utter disgusting service. Hope your restaurant goes up in flames 🔥

The whole experience was rude and uncomfortable. As soon as me and my partner arrived we was greeted with a "what is it" in which we replied we had a table booked. There was no smiles or any sort of welcoming atmosphere. At one point i asked if my food could be boxed to take home and before i even finished my sentence the waiter walked off, completely rude and abrupt staff. This is also a meal we booked on valentines day evening, every couple at the end of their meal had a large red box placed on their table which had a rose in the box. Myself and my partner are both women but are clearly in a couple which the staff definitely knew. However, we was not given any red box, so i asked after paying how comes every other couples here gets a red box with a rose, in which the staff member replied in a rude tone "which one of you want it, there's only one per table, you can get it on your way out" completely straight faced. This was a complete different tone used compared to the other couples sat all around us. They was greeted with smiles and the large box containing the rose was placed nicely on the edge of the table in a welcoming and endearing manner. An awful and uncomfortable experience for myself and my partner.

The food was, as usual amazing, however the waiters attention was hard to attract but he was attentive enough when we managed to get hold of him. What almost ruined the evening was the group of 4 lads at a table in the corner and the waiter sat us right next to them (the restaurant at that time was empty) despite the fact that we requested a different table. The "lads) were frankly obnoxiously loud and very unpleasant to be seated next to. I did, after a few minutes tell the waiter we need to move tables and he was obliging, if a little huffy. Waiters, please learn to read the room and look after your customers, I expect a much better level of service from a restaurant charging the kind of prices that Maliks does.

The food was pretty good, despite the onion bahjis being really greasy and not actually crispy but the rest of our meal was good. The tandoori prawn starter was really excellent actually. It was a bit over priced though in my opinion but maybe I don't go out to eat enough to be able to judge the prices very well. When we arrived there were 3 waiting staff in the restaurant and one of them was on the phone. No one came to the table to give us menus and when one of us eventually got up to ask the waiter's excuse was that he was busy on the phone. Not sure why one of the other waiters couldn't come to our table to help as there were no other customers in the restaurant. One waiter refuses to make eye contact with any of us the whole time. The waiter taking our order ignores my grandmother and tried to skip straight to my brother when he was taking orders. I then had to point this out. When most of us had finished eating one of my brothers was still finishing his meal but one of the waiters rudely proceeded to clear the table while he was still eating. I think that's terrible, personally. Completely rude. While he was still finishing his meal the waiter then almost tore the plate away from under him by asking him if he was finished while his mouth was still full. My brother had had enough then and just gave the plate to the waiter. The food was pretty good overall as I said but due to this terrible service experience we would definitely never return to the restaurant and I would advise people to avoid it and maybe just get a takeaway if you really want to have their food. But I think this place is so overrated. Surprising that their website says they've had lots of top chef recommendations. I guess they were trying to impress them, if these are genuine recommendations, and weren't rude to them like they were to us. The reason I have 2 stars is because the food was good. If there was a separate rating for food and service I would have given 4 for food and 0 for service.

Didn’t actually end up booking because the man on the phone was rude , impatient and unwelcoming. I ended up hanging up on him lol now looking at the reviews the staff serving seem to all be the same too ! What a terrible way to think they can speak / treat customers . Lost out on a lot of £ here for our business work meal

A really clean and architecturally pleasant restaurant with food that matches any Indian food that I have ever eaten anywhere. You will not be disappointed.

The decor is great, the food was good. The staff need to work a bit on body language, friendliness and responsiveness though. I got the impression that a bunch of young-ish gentlemen didn’t quite get the same level of respect that other groups did Also maybe write down orders rather than keep mixing things up and having to clarify. Malik’s in Cookham the service is the best I’ve ever had though. Maybe do a staff exchange to compare and get a better idea? Also what’s with an Indian restaurant not serving Mango Lassi or Rasmalai??

Was recommended, but was very disappointed, was initially welcomed by pleasant member if staff, however all other staff were impatient, abrupt and rude. Food is highly over priced, portions very small and cold. We took off the service charge at the end and gave feedback, we received an apology and a thank you, but would never return or recommend, plenty of competition out there with better food and service! We were celebrating a family birthday big let down - AVOID

Food was very disappointing. Chicken was tough enough, let alone the lamb. Very over priced and with a VERY LOCAL Indian restaurant nearby, it would be silly to go to Malik's. Looks the part inside but food is rubbish. Also to add, whilst I was waiting for my £100 take away order, they offered me a bottle of beer whilst I wait and I honestly thought it was on the house. Only to find they added it to the final beer. Will never return

Malik's is a favourite of mine in Marlow. When I stumbled apon this one in Gerrads Cross it did not disappoint! I had a classic chicken vindaloo and pilau rice with popodoms to start. Perfect portion sizes and very tasty. A lovely dinner all round.

Wow! Well worth a visit. Best garlic naan ever. We had a duck dish, lamb and two chicken dishes, each was very different and super tasty. The house wine was very good value and a good quality wine. Service was fast and efficient. Highly recommend.

We usually get the takeaways from the Express kitchen but a birthday demanded a restaurant visit. Wish we hadn't bothered. 1 hour & 45 mins for mains to arrive. Drinks orders mixed up. Had to beg for water several times. Glasses & bottles piled up all over the bar. Staff were arrogant and off hand. They eventually explained "kitchen problems" but still charged service which I refused to pay. And on a hand scrawnier bill which is odd in this day and age. Table behind got up and walked out earlier so the warning signs were there. Next time, stick to takeaway.

The greeting on entry to the restaurant lacked coordination, communication and welcome. Our table was booked for 7.15pm and we intended to be out at 9pm. We were taken to our table and left to peruse the menus for some time before the order was taken. Food was at a high standard except for the onion Bhaminee which arrived late and undercooked when highlighted to the waiter there was very little reaction to remedy, apologise or credit the dish. Shame that the service is poor and potentially with attitude or complacency that detracts from the superb cuisine. The Bhajee we could overlook but the way the complaint was dealt with was more disturbing. We have visited the other Malik venues in Cookham and Marlow and sense a change of outlook by the staff. Look after your customers properly as they won’t rush back. Particularly when paying £45 per head without alcohol. I’m happy to pay for good food which Malik generally provides but staff need to attend some training and a return back to charm school would be a good move too.

Renowned for being one of the better Indian restaurants in the area... even the regulars were disappointed.Party of five - service was slow and variable - our table was cleared before we got our main course. Drinks order was mixed up - wanted Peacock Cider - got Magners twice. Slowness of service was 'explained' by the demand dictated by the James Bond screenings at the nearby Flix. Large party next to our table left as the main course was being served, and the party behind left shortly afterwards - their dishes were served cold. An elderly couple had already been at their table over 1 hour and hadn't even had their starter. They travelled some distance. To the restaurants credit the food was excellent and hot (on our table) but that does not excuse the diabolical service. Even a comment on payment was brushed off. Reluctant to go back until reviews inform us service has improved.Preferred Magners to Peacock....

Over a week ago I ordered a delivery. When it didn't arrive I checked my email for the confirmation. There was a second email with 2 words "TOO BUSY". I had paid for the order. I have yet to receive a refund.

Went for a Birthday Dinner with family. Not the first here, but will be the last. Slow service, lack of attention, no checking to see everything alright. Food was not as good as previously. There is room and need for improvement. Would not recommend.

Went for a meal while we away for a girly weekend away. On arrival the restaurant looked lovely but soon went downhill. The staff need some customer service training as service snd attitude was shocking. No please or thank you, or checking to see everything was ok. The food was poor, and got charged £6 for a little curry sauce that we asked for on the side! We were made to feel like it was an inconvenience us being there. When we spoke to the manager at the end he was totally disinterested and making excuses for the diabolical service!

I had dinner here with a friend and we decided to make it our mission to order all main dishes and starters that we had never had before to push us out of our comfort zone, I'm so glad we did! We had a fantastic meal, it was absolutely great. My friend rates herself as an Indian foodie and comes from out of the area, she declared it to be the best meal she had enjoyed in years, not just for an Indian meal but any meal, I have to say I agree, it was something special, we could barely walk after eating far more than we should have.We had great service with a smile too, everyone was very attentive despite the restaurant being busy. I sometimes wonder if people complaining about poor service are the best customers themselves, we observed one or two people being less than polite to the staff which I found irritating, remember you get what you put in and if you're going to be snappy and impatient you're not going to get a smile! This is one of the busiest restaurants in GX for a good reason, I'd advise you book.

I don't know why this restaurant has bad reviews, we had an amazing experience! We arrived very late on a Bank Holiday Monday having driven down from North Yorkshire to take my son back to University. We booked on the way and were told the kitchen closed at 10pm, so I was a bit worried when we arrived at 9.15! I did not need to worry, we were made to feel so welcome and had the most delicious meal. The staff were lovely and recommended an excellent chicken dish called Nazakat which was the best of the table. Even when I asked for some more rice it was not a problem! We have been to the Cookham and Marlow restaurants, but this was the first time at Gerrards Cross - we will be back very soon! Thank you!

Telephone order for 4 people totalling £104 on 6/2/21....on opening bags one main course was missing.....STILL waiting for my £10 refund for missing main despite several phone calls. Lesson learned......remember to get them to get everything out of the bags BEFORE you leave to make sure what you order and pay for is there.

3 of us visited Malik’s last night, before the lockdown the next day. We were extremely excited as all we have ever heard was fantastic things about this place. Our table was booked for 8:15, however we ended up sitting by the bar for half and hour (no drinks), and were asked to read the menu to choose our food from there. I totally understand they were busy, nobody was apologetic at all. As we were seated, we had 3 different waiters come in the space of a couple of minutes to take our orders. And we were asked what main we would like before being asked if we would like a drink. When it come to ordering drinks, the two others I was with ordered their drinks and when it came to me the waiter walked off. The food was nice, however bearing in mind the place closes at 10, we were sat there gone 9:30 with no food. When it finally arrived, it was thrown down and we feel as we had to rush it down. Forget time for pudding. Lastly, when the waiter came to take the bill, he wasn’t sure what was on the bill when we asked. And we were told to calculate it ourselves. Then I told him I wasn’t happy paying a service charger as sadly it was the worse service I have had. He then replied with, ‘everyone else pays it’.Other than that, brilliant night! Thanks Malik’s, I won’t be returning.

We were seated for 3.5 hours with really slow service. The waiter was abrupt and not accommodating or helpful. This was a birthday booking and we waited almost 2 hours for the main course to come. No apology and due to the 10 o’clock curfew the waiters were then pushy to get us out. Would not recommend and this isn’t authentic Indian or Bangladeshi cuisine - the sauces are really sweet, portions are small for the price. As a positive the biryani was good but overall not worth it and definitely not worth a return visit.

We (a family of 5) went for a Saturday evening meal at 8pm, we had to wait 20 minutes for our table. The restaurant was very very busy. Again once seated we had to wait a long time to be served. It got to 10pm and we still hadn’t received our main meals, no contact was being made to explain about the delay or an apology. We paid for our drinks and left, we never received our food, extremely bad service and unless they review the amount of tables they can realistically cover in the shorter opening times we will not be returning.

Myself and partner visit the restaurant on a regular basis and have never been let down. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service is quick and all member of staff are polite. We often have zubayer as our waiter and he is extremely Attentive and just makes your night that little more special. I would highly recommend a date night to all couples who enjoy food with a nice glass of wine. 5 stars no questions

I agree with some of the mixed reviews here. We had a really nice dinner with friends but it was very slowwwww. Slow to get drinks, an order placed, food to arrive etc etc. We had to really ask for things and then our 2nd round of drinks didn’t even show up.I think we were unlucky with our waiter.The food was yummy though and it was nice to get out

It was a real shame our first meal out since lockdown was wasted here.My partner and I were shocked at the incredibly slow service considering the restaurant was half empty and there was more than enough staff, the majority were stood around doing nothing.It took over half an hour just to be able to order our mains once sat down due to the fact all the staff and the manager were too busy staring at a certain sports personality who was seated a few tables away (it was awkward, unprofessional and incredibly unsubtle).It got to the point where I was having to physically wave in an overexaggerated, almost comical way to get their attention and I was STILL repeatedly ignored because they were solely focused on staring at that one customer. I actually lost count of how many times I got blanked.Once the food arrived it was average, overpriced and the portion size for the rice was a joke considering the price. The owners must be laughing all the way to the bank with that mark-up. You cannot justify higher-end prices, with low-grade service.We were finally able to get the bill after waiting more than half an hour after our plates had been cleared. We were shocked at the price, they had conveniently scribbled our orders on a piece of paper so we couldn't even validate the actual cost of the meal (we could have been scammed but just wanted to get out of there).To add insult to injury, when we were paying the bill, the waiter couldn't be bothered to hold any sort of interaction, he barely looked at us. Instead, turning his back on us to stare at that customer whilst taking our payment. This made us feel very unwelcome and undervalued. Of course, when the same waiter took payment from the said customer, he was all smiles and laughs. Someone needs to give them a lesson in customer service. Until then, I'll be making sure to tell our friends in the area to avoid. Or maybe, if you're lucky and they deem you to be a celebrity, they might just pay you some attention!In a nutshell - 1/10. Won't be visiting Maliks again. Overpriced. Average food. Rude staff.

My friends and I decided to meet at Malik’s as we’d been years ago and had loved it. I looked at the reviews today and was really shocked and a bit worried about some of the negative comments especially in relation to service. I needn’t have worried, from the welcome at the door everyone was so friendly and warm. The food was amazing as I had remembered it to be. It’s hard to imagine the reviews I read were written about the place I went to this evening. I will definitely go back.

I am very disappointed because I am a regular at Malik’s and I have never had this problem. My poppadum was stale and my naan was Doughy. But their customer service when I told Malik’s was BRILLIANT!

We ordered a take away yesterday for the first time. We were willing to pay over the odds because of their hygiene star being 5 including the additional delivery charge.When it arrived in a very fancy plastic bag we were looking forward to having a meal representative of the price we paid. Unfortunately it was disapointing to say the least. The naan bread was under cooked, tasteless and the size of a chapti, half the size of the naans you get anywhere else. The chicken in the korma was extremely dry and crumbly and the saag paneer was very bland. We didn't enjoy our take away and would not order again..such a shame as we were told they were very good. We would like a refund to be honest as feel ripped off.

the Young girl keeps talking in a foreign language and every time she sounds like she’s pissed off and complaining like she’s getting forced to work in maliks, that’s not good for business as only her voice can be heard loud!! She doesn’t understand or speak English, such a shame the food was outstanding, the music and the atmosphere was beautiful,

Ate here with a group and the food was delicious. Didn't mind waiting for our meal as we were a larger party. Atmosphere is good and decoration lovely but the service is sloppy, had to ask for the same drinks three times and no smiles on staff. We definitely had an enjoyable evening but all because of the food and company.

I'm sorry, but empty of full, you want a warm welcome, happy staff, a friendly atmosphere......and great food. I was there for a business evening meal, was greeted by a surly "manager" and tried to order drinks for a young man who was seemingly told never to smile. He didnt understand 2 beers and 2 cokes, so we had to ask someone else! The duck I ordered was grey, but I ate it, and im still alive.Not at all impressed with the useless service, lack of smiles, poor English and one of the staff with bad B.O.£81 for a poor experience grates on me.

One of the worst curries's I have had, and I have had lots... The service was terrible, the waiter did not understand anything all staff were rude. The food was absolutely horrible, I gave it the benefit of the doubt from my last experience as have heard good things, but I should have stayed away. I certainly will now!!!

Ate there Monday night as staying next door, didn't appreciate service charge, portion size was on the small side but tasty curry.Tuesday, arrived 20 mins before close and immediately obvious they cba. Spoke to 2 staff in perfect English about my options. Then they spoke in their native tongue and burst out laughing. Asked what was said and made up some bs story about where was charger. Racist? Definitely rude of the highest order, won't be returning ever and 6 lads have just got an 20 month job here. Avoid.

I agree with October review that the service was poor. The resturant was half empty and plenty of staff. They need retraining in how to provide a good customer experience. The food amazing bit we had to ask a waiter each to order , for extra drinks and the bill. It was as if they did not wish to serve is. We had not been for years and will not go back. Even their take away we had to abandon twice as the wait was far too long.

We have visited Maliks last Saturday,it was extreamly busy but we received wonderful greeting on arrival, the menu is really extensive difficult to choose,10 of us order 10 different dish and we tried each other which was really enjoyable. The staffs were veryfriendly and attentive.We will deffinitley recommend this restaurant and will be back soon.

A lovely welcoming smile as we entered, started the great dining experience that we all had at Maliks in Gerrard cross on tuesday. We had a table booked for 7 and it was nicely ready before we come.The deco, bar and ambiance of the restaurant is superb.We started our food with mixed starters which were delicious &amp; the chap who took the order put some Marechi Paneer for everybody which definitely added extra excitement to the starter as we all really enjoyed it. When the main course arrived, it was even better nice &amp; fresh all above mind blowing delicious .The staff were very friendly and attentive, kept checking that everything was okay. Such a pleasant experience to go to a restaurant in Gerrard Cross. Hope we'll back soon.

A curt reception, incompetent, undertrained waiters. We arrived at 8.15 and were served our food at 9.50, without a word of apology or offer of a free drink. Food average, rice dry and tasteless. Over £250 for 6 for, basically, one course each. We got the impression they were trading on reputation, freewheeling. It's a management failing, not staff.

I've been a big fan of Maliks since they opened. On average I eat there every coupleof months and use Malik's Express Kitchen take away service pretty much every week.

We have visited Maliks last Friday, really impressed by the greetings of staff they made us feel comfortable. Menus got so many options,it's hard to select right dish, food was tasty and well cooked, definitely Chef and his team working hard in the kitchen to give it exquisite flavour.The only downside was as it's Friday, restaurant was extremely busy staffs were working hard to give their best but we think management need to employ more staff for better service. Thank to Farbis for his patience and service. We will definitely be back soon.

The food in Maliks is the best and all six of us enjoyed what we had chosen, which included meat and vegetarian dishes. We have all visited a Maliks many times. They were very busy on Friday and couldn’t really cope with the service as we had to wait a long time even to give our order.

We used to go Maliks in Cookham but this time we tried Gerrard cross,it's wonderful experience from beginning to end.We have been looked after very well by a waiter who used to work @ Cookham.The foods were great,lovely deco with a wonderful bar area.

We arrived there and wasn’t sure if it was open or not very dark from the outside. Went into res lovely bar area but again very very dark. I had glass of rose there was only one choice it was like vinegar We ordered the king prawn purée and lamb kebab both very nice. Main was chicken tikka which was tasteless pilla rice was tasteless and not enough for one person never mind 2 my partner had lamb masala which was tough garlic bread had no garlic in it. And hardly any meat in the keema nan. Staff was not very freindly. Was told this res was excellent but for us we won’t be going there again

We have been HUGE fans of Maliks for many years, but unfortunately the last few takeaways have been extremely disappointing :-( and now I am not sure e will return, too many not good meals, sorry .

I have eaten here many times and my guests always comment on the quality of the food and the service.

Really nice Indian. Not cheap but varied menu, comfortable, great service. Food and drinks were excellent.

Booked Malik’s as they do a set price menu and we were a large group. This makes life a lot easier when the drinks bill arrives!

I'm part of a small ' Dad's who Lunch' group (I know, sad but true, when evening time is very limited!). We've been steadily working our way through some great places to eat. We remembered Maliks, my experience from Cookham, many years ago, was excellent.

Consistently good. Really enjoy the Indian Food and have been using for years regularly. Very good indeed and seems great value for money to me.

We had a table booked for 8.30 Saturday night, we arrived 15 minutes early to have a drink at the bar, when we got there the restaurant was busy, 2 waiters at the bar, absolutely ignored us for the 15 minutes we where waiting, I asked for a drink and was told we will serve you in minute, at 8.40 I asked a different waiter if our table was ready , still no drinks,

Visited for the Sunday buffet with a group of friends. Amazing value and excellent quality food. Drinks were a little expensive @ £5 for a bottle of sparkling water.

Food was good and authentic. Check your bill when paying, they had managed to put our drinks bill up a bit, and when questioned they answered with, I normally work in the kitchen. So check your bill properly. Other than that a nice meal

The food was delicious & excellent service. I went on Sunday for lunch. Lots of choices for buffet & all foods are cooked fresh. Waiters are very friendly. I highly recommend them .
