This was the worst experience I've ever had in an Indian restaurant in my life. The manager was rude, and completely ignored the problems my husband and I experienced during our meal, which were many. The portion sizes were minuscule and the food was cold and tasteless. This has to be the worst experience for a restaurant I'd booked as my restaurant of choice for my 40th birthday celebrations having been recommended by a friend. When the booking was made, the restaurant was notified of my big birthday, but no one made any mention of it on arrival and they gave us a terrible table which we asked to change.It was cold and drafty, and even when we asked, they did nothing about it. We asked for the owners name and were told we couldn't have it. Avoid this restaurant at any cost if you don't wish to waste your evening and money. The owners need to mystery shop this restaurant and see just arrogant, rude unforgiving and nasty the manager is. Barely 1 star in our opinion . .

Good - but expensive. £60 a head for one course and a couple of drinks.

Bashir is one-of-a-kind bossman with a refreshing view of the world and witty insights (not to mention an exceptional singing voice). Shame he’s a United fan!!! It was my uncles bright day we went to Spice Merchant, Excellent Mansur and his team are brilliant. food is exceptional and staff and friendly Recommend to everyone👍

AVOID. Genuinely worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Food was not good either, I would not go back even if I was paid to. We had wrong dishes arrive, some dishes not arrive at all, drinks not turning up and half items on menu not available. Completely ruined the day. Service was shockingly bad. Staff were clueless, rude and unhygienic. We were charged for items we did not even have and then when I raised this they just said they had run out... Yet still thought it was ok to charge! Obviously I asked for the items to be removed from the bill and staff said they could not... even though we had not even had it!! Then when I asked for the manager he was even more obnoxious. I have never been treated with such disrespect where I am a paying customer AND when they were in the wrong and I should not have been paying for items I did not receive.

Went for afternoon tea for my daughters birthday and I must say I was impressed. Lovely place and service outstanding. Very attentive and caring. Will be back 100%

I went for an afternoon tea / birthday meal. Whilst the food was nice I would not recommend due to service. Vegetarian and meat dishes got mixed up and we were not made to feel welcome at all by staff or manager.

Dont waste your time, poor service and poor attitude. Very bad afternoon tea, my daughter has a nut allergy but despite them being told this in advance of our booking we were still served Macarons on the same plate. Dont think they care about cross contamination, though maybe a visit from FSA might make them take it seriously. They dont know the difference between veg and non veg as we were served meat samosas on the vegetarian platter. Save your money and go elsewhere. Wont be returning.

We went for an afternoon tea which was overall an extremely poor experience. The food was varied but could have done with more authentic flavour and spice. They failed to even ask us for drink and it was a very hot day! One jug of water between 8 people and we had to ask for more. The restaurant had 2 tables occupied so there was no excuse for the lack of service. The tea was only served once we asked and even then it was not as per advertised. Our service was very poor and the restaurant payed no attention to cross contamination despite being told this before and after our visit. In particular someone with a nut allergy was served a Macaroon. The vegetarian dishes all had meat samosas served. Despite raising our concerns the staff displayed a lack of care or regard. I will not be visiting again! This is the worst afternoon tea experience to date.

Absolutely disgusting service. Went for a birthday afternoon tea , booked weeks in advance for 2pm. Service prior to attendance was great, lots of follow up calls advise of a nut allergy, and 4 vegetarians and 4 meat eaters. Table was lovely set when we arrived, I did request somewhere cool as we had a baby with us and it was very hot. The afternoon tea set layout was lovely but it went crash landing down hill: No water served so had to request this repeatedly. No tea so had to ask for this and was only given Indian tea which was not authentic towards the end of the meal. Meat samosas served on the vegetarian afternoon tea, only noticed when it was cut into. Nuts on the tray for someone with a nut allergy. No dips served, had to ask for this. Waiters were clueless and rude, asked for a tea top up and was still waiting 30 minutes later.....we are still waiting...🤔 It got to the point where we gave up asking for basic things, like cutlery and water as this took ages to arrive or didn't arrive. Scones arrived at the end with no cream, so I asked the man (who I can only assume was the manager) to provide this after he seemed surprised it hadn't come already. Waiters were laughing in full nkew of us at the fact we didn't get any extra tea and the poor service, which was heartbreaking as it was for mums 71st birthday where were all travelled from over an hour away and she barely goes out due to limited mobility. She was so excited to go and got dressed up, which made this occasion even more heartbreaking. Supposed manager was argumentative when we provided feedback and his good will gesture was to remove the "optional" service charge from the bill, where he out the bill on the table and walked off. Menu states: A CHOICE OF OUR SELECTION OF FINE LOOSE LEAF TEAS INDIAN CHILLI PANEER Batons of Indian cottage cheese tossed with spring onions and peppers in a sticky sweet sauce MIXED VEGETABLE WRAP Mixed vegetables in a masala sauce wrapped in a homemade chapati GINGER POTATO Potato cakes stuffed with lentil and topped with ginger SAG ALOO SKEWER Spinach and potato pieces rolled together with turmeric DELICATELY SPICED VEGETABLE SAMOSA Triangular pastry pockets filled with lightly spiced mixed vegetables PAKORA Spring vegetables mixed with aromatic herbs and spices bound together with gram flour MANGO LASSI Indian infused mango milkshake GULAB JAMUN A milky Indian sponge soaked in a sugary syrup BOMBAY MESS Crushed meringue, mango and cream topped with grated pistachio MACARONS Assorted tea-flavoured macarons FRESHLY-MADE FRUIT SCONES DESSERT OF THE DAY There was NO selection fine lose leaf teas, nor ginger potato. The afternoon tea was preagreed for 2pm, via a telephone booking, if this was an issue, staff should have raised this then as we were happy to book it earlier. We were told the staff were waiting for us to leave and the chef had left so thrown everything away. There was only 1 other group so it wasn't busy to warrant the poor customer service. I wouldn't even bother wasting your time. Lovely décor but the staff and customer service is shockingly disgusting. Go Southall where the food will be authentic. If I could give less that 1 star I would. Save your money, don't let them mess up your day and avoid at all cost. Absolutely ripoff.

Very poor service for afternoon tea. Would not recommend. Vegetarians was given meat samosa to our disgust. An individual with nut allergy was offered macaroons. Advertised is a selection of tea however given a basic select of food and a thimble of masala tea. We were told the chef had left for home at 2:30 and could't give more food or drink even though our booking was at 2pm. Afternoon tea all for £35 per head... Very poor form guys. We were made to feel us being there was an inconvenience for the staff. I hope the restaurant takes notice of this because we feel hugely let down by the restaurant and staff (who were laughing in the corner at us for some reason). Very disappointed for a birthday occasion!

Service was extremely poor, staff is not knowledgeable to ask relevant questions. Menu was very confusing specially when we wanted to order a mixed platter. We were told kitchen will close at 9.15pm but the guest were arriving at 9.00pm. Food was very substandard and poor quality, definitely overpriced. We will Not be coming back any time soon and cannot recommend to our worst enemy. So good luck guys.

Great indian in evenings, but I also take my children there early at 5pm when it's quiet, and they love it too, having more plain dishes. It's a place more for perhaps adults as it's high quality, but children are welcomed too and can eat well, although not many children actually seem to go.

I used Spice Merchants catering service for a work event at my house. There were 15 of us in total. Sabina from the get go was a pleasure to deal with. Incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The table of food was beautifully presented for my work colleagues at my house for the time we had planned. Sabina arrived pre guests arriving and set up a beautiful ensemble of Indian delights. When my guests arrived and saw the display they were impressed to say the least. Presentation was great - now for the taste. The taste of the food was exquisite. Items were still warm despite being driven to my house such was the great preparation and attention to detail from Sabina. Everyone was so impressed with the food and they kept going back for more and were grazing all evening. There was still some left over for me to enjoy with the family the next day. Thank you Sabina! Will definitely use you again.

Had dinner at the Spice Merchant in Beaconsfield for a girls night out. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were all treated as royalty! The food was delicious - great taste, quality, presentation and good portion sizes. The location of the restaurant is on the high street and it is huge inside with seating in the back garden area too. I could not faulty anything and definitely deserves a 5/5 rating!!!

Came here as been here before when it was nice totally gone down hill, waited over an hour for food and waiters were clueless,was a really disappointing night shared with other customers in there who were also complaining to the manager. Considering how much they charge very disappointing won’t be back.

Eaten here a number of times. But food was bland and underwhelming. Also disappointed that they tried to serve us an extra dish, which we sent back,lead waiter then came to check that we hadn't ordered it🫣. When the bill arrived we had been charged for the extra dish. Won't be returning or to their other restaurant in Cookham.

Another amazing takeaway of delicious Indian food. The onion bhajee was the size of a melon and absolutely delicious!

Amazing restaurant, friendly and funny staff, food was top tier and the decor and atmosphere was dope. Went to crazy bear but saw this on the way & definitely one of the best Indians I’ve had in years!! Portions were extremely generous, had a crab starter, and lamb chops and lamb shank. All 3 were amazing, best Indian lamb chops by far. I can’t believe I had to leave London to find the best lamb chops in a little town lol. The sauces that came with the roti bread was also different. These guys are really attention to detail & an asset to the village, they shouldn’t be downplayed at all. I’m jealous I don’t live close by to go here more often. The pricing as-well, I was extremely shocked but also pleased because this would easily be an £70/80 meal in London and I wouldn’t argue at all, I think the bill was around £49/57. Thank you to Mansur & Murad And again compliments to the chef!!!

The chilli heat overtook anything not sure if there was any flavour. Quick to get you a drink to slap up the total. Over loud locals who were playing videos from their phone. So the clientele was lovely. Onion bhaji nearly bigger than a badminton racket.....very off putting. Hubby went to Birmingham a few days before and had a better curry for half the price.

Just went for food with me and 2 friends asked for a sizzling chicken tikka and he said they have that they brought out some chicken sitting in water! Absolutely disgusting when I send it back and said I don’t like it he then argued and said that they don’t do that on there menu they removed the food from the bill but said very sarcastically once I was leaving to not return!!!!!! Would never come back again all the chicken looked pink food was absolutely rotten

I know I’m going to upset a few regulars, but this meal was the most disappointing dinner I’ve had ever in an Indian restaurant. I brought my partner here for her 40th romantic dinner. I called and told the restaurant about the occasion and they promised to give us a wonderful night recognising her VIP birthday. Not only did they not recognise anything pertaining to her birthday, they tried to sit at a table for two between two other couples with 70% of the restaurant empty. I pushed back and they gave us a table for four persons making out, this was a great thing, the only problem was, the door kept opening. The attitude of the staff was quite terrible, so nonchalant, as if we were the odd people in the room. There was no welcome, and the first thing the waiter did was slam the menu into my hand and told me to look at the champagne because he then knew it was her birthday because I had to tell him. I was so disappointed that that their lack of recognition of the occasion ruined the night. So it went downhill, I ordered poppadoms and was given the local chutney which were absolutely horrible , they all tasted like ketchup and when I said they might be from the cash and carry, they looked like they were going to hit me. When my food arrived, which was butter chicken there were five small pieces of chicken in the bowl. The sauce tasted the same as one of the previous chutneys for the poppadoms. I wanted to challenge them, i felt I was being unreasonable! But I come from a world where the customer is always right, but never mind as it seems spice merchant is only interested in taking hugely expensive monies for very poor quality food in my opinion. And they really need to rethink their position in the market. We have a choice and I certainly will never be coming back here. If you’re thinking of Yong it my advice is give it a miss . They’ve ruined my Fiance’s 40th birthday and I won’t forgive them for that. Even as I write this the managed who I’ve asked to speak to is avoiding us and won’t engage in conversation. Urghhh

This place is amazing, the atmosphere is incredible, the service is impeccable... The afternoon tea was sensational... But I don't know if it's just been unlucky when we have been there, but 3 times in a row, the restaurant has been empty now. They have told us that later it gets busy, so it may be an us thing, but apart from that, utterly spectacular.

Been coming here for 30+ years. my sons cleared their plate. Mansur was the perfect host and make us all feel welcome. Great service, incredible food. Thank you guys

the food as usual was very good albeit the lamb curry had very few pieces of meat in it for the cost. The restaurant was pretty empty so lacked usual vibe but quality and service overall was very good.

We went there as a group for Indian afternoon Tea on a Saturday. We were the only ones there, so it was quiet and not that atmospheric but the food was varied and plenty of it which was good. I would say that it wasn't that spicy which was a shame, I think as a standard they should serve some of it with chutneys etc but we had to ask. It's worth going for the Indian Afternoon Tea experience.

A few years since I was in Beaconsfield and a visit to the Spice Merchant was essential. It’s still the best ever - we had a fabulous dinner and the atmosphere and service great too but it’s this brilliant restaurant we miss now we live so far away.

Service was great and food too. Acoustic in the restaurant meant it was really noisy on a busy Friday night and whilst we enjoyed the meal and service we would probably not go again.

We’ve been enjoying excellent food at Spice Merchant Beaconsfield many years. Special mention for Mansur the boss for his ever friendly welcome and hospitality, and to Kaitano and the chefs. Recommend the Lamb Chettinad.

I recently ordered a chaat-cuterie board through Spice Merchant Beaconsfield. It was for a girls night at my house. My friends could not believe their eye's when they saw it. It was absolutely beautiful! From the colours, to the food selection, to the delicious smell. It was a perfect hot buffet style food to feed my guests. Needless to say that because it was Spice Merchant, the quality of the food was incredible. Thank you so much, I'm planning my next event just to be able to order one again!

Spice merchant, more like rip off merchants, 2 curries 2 rice, 3 cobra £75 including the service charge of 15% or so. just your average curry wouldn’t say it’s worth the price.

The Spice Merchant is an Indian restaurant that is way better than the average. We've been going there for years for intimate dinners and bigger parties. The food and service are always excellent and their takeaways are just as good. It is more expensive than the average, but worth the extra.

Can honestly say one or The best curries we have ever had (lamb bhuna hot and chicken tikka masala, Lovely restaurant, attentive service. Sadly, live too far away or it would be our local.

Do not order from Spice Merchant, especially via Uber, as the food took 2 hours, was cold, and was incorrect. When I called, they lied and said the driver was stuck in traffic it was 9 pm, then said it was a new driver, but when it arrived, it was a long-standing employee. Use to love this place will never order again. Shocking experience.

This used to be a very good restaurant sadly it has now gone down the hill and disappeared. We took our very good friends from out of town to what was once our favourite restaurant when we lived in the area. It was so bad it became laughable I assume they have a different team in the kitchen and serving it just was so unprofessional and bland. Sadly it was empty on a Saturday night and I can now see why . I do hope they can bring it back to where it once was.

Awful experience here. The chicken lollypop was undercooked and cold. The food was generally bland. The naan we had ordered was rock solid. Very expensive and the standard of the food does not match the prices

Always love coming here. Great food and and absolutely lovely team who look after you. Naz looked after us this evening and he was particularly charming and very attentive. Even opened the door for us on the way out. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon.

Love this restaurant took my son there for his birthday the staff came out with a cake and sang happy birthday. It was lovely to sit in the garden looking towards the restaurant but it looks like a bit of a building site as there are working on the garden. But the staff and food are amazing I always recommend this place to my friends and look forward to seeing the garden finished

Two of our group were returning to Australia so our trip to the spice merchant Beaconsfield was meant to be a send off in stile. During the booking process no problem with a large group eating at 8.30 on a Saturday evening, in the days before the dinner the organiser was repeatedly asked for a deposit, which was paid, on arrival we were informed we would all have to eat a set menu buffet at £50 a head. Despite pointing out that a number of the group were not keen on spicy food they were told that it would be fine plenty of choice, one person who was lactose intolerant was finely served a chicken dish after everyone had virtually finished the meal. The food was basically bowls of slop with chicken lamb or prawns floating, 1 popadom each and garlic nan bread that was as flat as pancake, staff very quick to top up and empty wine and beer bottles but slow to respond to other requests. A number of the guests were keen Indian food eaters and nobody rated the food, starters were deemed as just ok, main course. Needless to say we will not be visiting again.

Wow... found this restaurant by chance. After a weekend away and at least an hour from home, heading northbound on the M40. Instead of heading to the services for dinner we turned right for Beaconsfield (<5mins). We were very warmly welcomed. I highly recommend the Goan style Monkfish, my husband had the Lamb Shank, also delicious, even the after dinner mints were on another level. Service was very attentive and friendly. Thank you and if we're ever passing by again will call in x Demi 😀

Me and husband went to spice merchant on a Friday evening expecting to taste some good Indian spice food .it's very unfortunate none of the food we tasted meets our expectations The chicken lollipop was semi cooked could see traces of blood in the bones The devil shrimp was even more worse ,it typically had raw smell I would never recommend this place .

We had guests from the USA over and decided to ‘treat’ them to their first curry so ordered in from The Spice Merchant/Feast. In the past we have enjoyed both take away and eat in at Spice Merchant The food was extremely mediocre and the size of several dishes ridiculously small especially the fish dish (3 cubes of white fish for over £20) and samosas (3 only at over £2.50 each). The total price of £134.70 was way too high for the quality of product delivered. My view of many local Indian restaurants is that they simply serve bowls of brown slop and I am afraid that Spice Merchant are heading in that direction. It was a very poor meal and I will not be ordering a take away or eating in the restaurant again anytime soon It was a disappointing experience

We ate afternoon tea here to celebrate a 90th birthday. From the warm welcome to the friendly service to the delicious food we had a super time!

A few visits now - food always first class. For starters can recommend calamari, crab varuval, chicken tikka, scallops. The mains are generous portions and these are top tips: duck tikka, rajastani lamb, lamb shanks and the classic rogan Josh, butter chicken etc are better than you would get in most indian restaurants. Veggie sides terrific too. It’s a winner this place !

Visited for a large family celebration, to find the table surprisingly decorated as the the details included in the booking. Lovely food all round, generous portions, beautifully presented, with lots of fresh ingredients. Service was courteous, fun and interactive overall which made the occasion even more positive. For a quick meal the prices are a bit more than your local Indian. Having said that, the food is superb and one of the best Indian restaurants we have visited in a while. The food was delicious and staff very attentive.

We have eaten in the restaurant several times for many years and have always been impressed. Tonight we ordered from the delivery service and it was terrible £80 for inedible food. Cold Tasteless curry and rubbery Naan bread.- totally inedible.We have used the delivery service on many occasions and the food has gradually got worse and worse - tonight was by far the worst and probably the las!

The best Indian food in Buckinghamshire (haven't checked with the rest of the country, but wouldn't bet against it). Amazing every time!
