Proper bread for the people, by the people! And the coffee is epic too!

One of the best bakeries I've ever been too. The queue is usually out of the door for good reason. Obviously bread is the main attraction but their pastries, sausage rolls and sandwiches are a hit too. New shop is much bigger than the old one, has a warm and welcoming vibe to it

Brilliant coffee, nice atmosphere, lovely staff. The MOMA oat milk is really fancy. Recommend! Finally good coffee in Hastings ;)

The best fennel loaf and best croissant of my life!

Been there because of the fuzz and people having queued on street in the street. Had croissant cinnamon bun. Really nice, fresh and delicious and coffee too.

Pastries are well baked without being overdone, audible crunch when tucking into croissants for instance and the best buttery flavour without being overly salty or sweet. Possibly the best almond croissant ever, unique and gorgeous choc pastries. A great chick Caesar salad on Foccacia (I think) and choc pastry (larger than expected) came in well under £10. Heaven and the customer service is absolutely perfect, really warm and natural. Heaven.

I stopped by here a few times during my recent trip to Hastings. Their croissants are buttery and offer other exceptional pastries. They make a good oat flat white too because they use quality beans. The staff were super friendly on every visit.

I had been looking forward to trying this spot for a while. I had the fig Danish which I really enjoyed and the people who I went with also enjoyed what they bought. The shop is well situated and sells really unique and interesting baked goods. However, saying that, i unfortunately I found the customer service lacking. The interaction from the staff was minimal and unfriendly, despite me asking questions and attempting to make conversation. For me, part of going out and getting a coffee is the customer service/interaction and I left feeling disappointed in this case.

On my first visit to maker baker the woman serving accused me of queue jumping, when realising her mistake she didn’t apologise and continued to glare at me. When I clocked the price of a loaf of bread I was shocked at the extremely expensive mark up. Prices are much higher than my local artisan bakery in London. I am always willing to pay more for good quality ingredients handmade goods & I’m all for supporting independent businesses. However I wouldn’t come back here. Zero customer service with sky high prices.

It doesn’t cost much to smile and greet the people.

The pastries are ok, though I got a cinnamon swirl and tasked like nothing. My low review is for the girl who works there. Rude, no smiles, seems she's bothered that you're there asking for coffee and pastries. It has happened to me twice now that I've left feeling a bit bad. First time, I bought quite a few pastries and asked for a box, she said 'i have none' while I could see a pile of boxes there. Second time I asked for a coffee lid, she said no. The bread and pastries are good but the service is equally important so please think about this when you're with customers.

The only place to buy bread. Everything else is inferior. Highly recommend the fennel loaf. Grab a few pastries as well. This is now a weekly visit!

Delicious bread, cheese cakes and sausage rolls

Very disappointed having turned up at 8am as the website says, only to find they have changed the opening hours. Sat on the seafront for 30 minutes and tried again. "No pastries, only bread" I was told, "they will just be 10 minutes". Back outside I go to wait for another 10 minutes, van pulls up, still no croissants, "they will be another 10 minutes as we only live round the corner". Gave up and came home.

Wish this place was open every morning. The best mocha in St Leonard’s and the cinnamon swirl was flaky and buttery.

Stunning bread, Basque Cheesecake, Custard Tart, and Coffee. Very friendly chap serving. Will go back for bread again. The total bill for loaf, coffee, and x2 cakes was £16.50, so on the pricy side.

Well-baked sourdough bread. Very tasty, especially the one with cumin. It made a delicious breakfast.

Amazingly tasty pastries - best I've ever had! Tasty fresh beard too but you have to get there early 😁 yummy coffee and always friendly.

Yet to try the food but the coffee is served in teeeeeeny tiny cups, even when you ask for a latte, for prices I would gawk at in London. Left London to get away from this sort of thing. Which is a shame, as it’s the most well situated place for coffee near the station and is open nice and early. Offering a ‘large’ coffee option would be a partial solution, but I worry at what cost!

Pricey but worth every penny and every minute waiting. Queues are actually way down since the hours expanded. Having eaten it many times in its culinary home, the white sour dough is right up there with San Francisco's finest.

10/10 go if you get a chance, worth the wait and amazing stuff!
