Maison Bab in City of London, Westminster

Having a day in Covent Garden, heard good things about this place….. 1. Seats outside, it was a nice day 2. We ordered a mixed meze for starters, the hummus was full of flavour, the topping of spicy, curry, nuts was incredible. 3. I went for the dirty bab, it didn’t disappoint, full of melt in the mouth lamb, chips, chilies, salad, served with a small pot of amazing cheese sauce……… dirty 4. 16.50 for the kebab …. excellent 5. Good service,, doable prices for London, this place served one of the tastiest meals I can remember. 6. One to return to.

My friend and I visited here on Friday 9th August for my pre birthday celebration and we were not disappointed. Excellent food, wonderful service from kind attentive staff and a gorgeous day to sit outside. The prices are very reasonable for Covent Garden and they have a happy hour so drinks were well priced too. Will definitely return.

We chose this restaurant as it was close to the theatre we were going to. Everything was perfect, lovely and cool interior on a hot day, friendly staff who were very attentive and genuinely interested in knowing we were enjoying our meal and the most delicious food. Our waitress suggested the special hummus and broccoli for the 4 of us to share as a starter and it was a great suggestion, so tasty and different. I had the butter chicken Bab, it was delicious and the crispy onions on top gave it a lovely texture. Everything was just so tasty, every mouthful and a very reasonable price for London at £70 per couple for our meal and a few drinks. We would certainly eat at this restaurant again.

We had a few days booked in London which then coincided with the euros final! Needless to say we then had to book somewhere to watch it! Randomly came across Le Bab whilst googling and they promised big screens so we booked and kept fingers crossed I’m so glad we did as the atmosphere was great, kebabs were tasty, drinks were cold! Pity about the result but we had a very enjoyable evening Thank you to the staff

Le Bab is really great and the menu / prices all reasonable. Service was also excellent. Location great. Gave 4 Stars as there was some confusion on my bill. They charge 12.5% service charge automatically on your bill …which is fine. However, I really hate when “ you have to ask” if you want the service taken off but my core point is the billing system then asks you if you want to leave a tip. So if you haven’t noticed the service is already included you end up double tipping. I noticed this as the bill hit my card so my phone pings immediately with the payment and I noticed it was higher than what the online payment system said I paid. You should eliminate this approach as an otherwise very satisfied customer feels cheated over something that should be avoided. Management did address this quickly with me and I believe refunded the tiny amount. Point of principle really.

We stumbled across this restaurant and we are glad we did. The chicken shush on flatbread was quite good. Everyone I was with enjoyed their food. A pleasant area to eat outside. the food came very quickly though it took a while to receive the bill after we finished.

This was a big bust. Reviews did not deliver! - Famous hummus was too oily, peanuts soggy? - Roasted broccoli had good seasoning, but also soggy? You expect crunch… - Chicken kebabs weren’t kebabs, it was grilled chicken pieces on a flatbread (maybe we should have expected that?) smothered in far too much sauce. We only picked out the chicken, but still couldn’t finish it. - Raspberry lemonade apparently had less sweet in it, but it was still way too sweet. Couldn’t finish it. - Husband had 2/6 poblano peppers, but I was too put off to try them. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive.

the worst restaurant ive ever been too!!! was spoken in the most disgusting manner by staff there who were intimidating myself and my friend and did not honour an advertised special deal that was on! despite it being advertised!! this is breach of adversting standards!! i complained to head office with no resolution!!! and who ignored my emails!!!!!

This is a fabulous place to eat. The service and the food was amazing. The staff were really attentive that includes the chefs who interacted with the customers, as it was busy they brought the food to the table. Would definitely recommend it.

Instagram hype. The mixed chicken and lamb kebab had close to zero flavour and I abandoned my meal for the first time ever as the calories were simply not worth it. No spice, no salt, no tang. Instead we went to seven dials food market in Covent Garden and got some genuinely tasty food. (Recommend the tacos upstairs, and the Uzbek dumplings). I actually didn’t care about the cost as this is meant to be a different experience to “normal” kebabs but never knew it would be so under par in terms of taste. If you want a decent kebab or sharwarma go to cafe Helen on Edgware Road or even to meet a lady who knows what she’s doing. Sorry but facts.

Honestly the food is repulsing, low quality and the texture of the “naan” bread is completely off. Extremely disappointing experience.

Excellent restaurant ! Allez y les yeux fermés ! Tout est parfait ! Nous avons pris 3 free range chicken shish kebab et un mixed grill kebab qui étaient vraiment excellent ! Les frites aussi sont très bonnes ! C est épicé pour ceux qui aiment sinon demandez la sauce à part surtout pour les enfants ! Tout est fait maison et frais !

Delicious chicken Shish kebab on a gorgeous flatbread! We had a sit-down meal here but they also have other branches which are more of a street food option! Really tasty, would defo come back!

Did not live up to expectations. Breads were good, as was the hummus. House wine was reasonably priced and fine. The kebabs were very disappointing, given the hype and reviews. We had a chicken shish and lamb adana. They were small ( which I wouldn't have minded if there was an obvious culinary flair or burst of flavour) and underwhelming. The pickles/ salad in both were soggy and lacking in freshness or flavour. The mint yoghurt sauce on the lamb overpowered all other flavours and was really quite unpleasant. As for the crispy skin on the chicken? No sign of that... We will not be back. Can't see how this will survive much longer on Instagram alone as there won't be many return customers? At £70 for 2 with a bottle of wine it's cheap for central London, I guess, but I'm not a tourist so can choose not to.

Fantastic mid budget restaurant. Wasn’t too busy but still a good atmosphere. The staff were really attentive informative and made some good suggestions. We had the Broccoli starter, I’m not a veggie but chose this on the waitress’s recommendation, I had been previously and chosen too much so she advised this would be a good option, she was 100% right. I have never raved so much about broccoli 🤣 but they did it really well! Onto the mains, Butter Chicken and a mixed kebab, both were really delicious, the way Le Bab pimp up these dishes is amazing. A good tip is to download their app, the first time you do this you get a free drink and we were both able to do this. summary - great food, reasonably priced, location and staff all good. My only slight niggle is they charge a service charge, which is absolutely 100% expected, but then present you with the payment device asking how much tip you want to leave. I always think double tipping requests are a bit cheeky and annoying, after such a good experience this kind of ruins it. Either take off the service charge or remove the tip option.

This place is great! The staff are attentive and friendly. The food was wonderful; we tried the steak & houmous to start and the Dirty Bab and Butter Chicken Bab as mains. Fresh food and delicious though I knock a point off for the fries, I appreciate they are twice cooked but were a bit hard and chewy. Happy hour until 6pm with beers and cocktails for around £6 was a nice surprise. Overall a great experience.

Service was pretty slow, only 1 server even though the restaurant was completely full. Food arrived pretty quickly. The starters were OK, nothing special. The kebabs were pretty small (hardly any meat) and had too many different competing flavours. Mine was also too spicy to eat, far too much sauce. The place was also so noisy I couldn't hear anything my partner was saying.

Best Lebanese restaurant I have had the pleasure of eating in in London - the Adana was particularly amazing!

Walking around and feeling hungry, stopped right in front of Maison Bab and took a chance. Friendly staff, enticing menu and comfortable dining area. Opted for the hummus and two kebabs following the server’s recommendation. Excellent all around, good flavors and balance, friendly staff. Bookmarked as a go to for when i am in this area!

Fantastic food. They did loose one of the orders but made good. Nice mix of styles. The Humus is a great treat. Atmosphere is laid back.

Family meet up, food ok if a bit pricey for what it was, service a bit chaotic, but overall good experience. Would I return, probably not. Should you go if you’ve not been, yes, you probably should

My friend and I wanted a quick drink before the theatre, I asked the waiter outside if it was possible to just have a drink as we’d already eaten lunch. He said yes and then showed us to a table. When a different waiter came over, we went to order our drinks, but we were told we had to order food. When I questioned it and said I had asked before we sat down, we were promptly told the other waiter was new and we would have to order some kind of food (the restaurant wasn’t full). We left, despite the pressure from the waiter and went to a restaurant a few minutes away, who were more than happy for us to “just have a drink”. We’ll definitely return there again for food soon. Perhaps you could learn some customer service from them…

The margaritas were so nice and refreshing on a hot day in London. I had he chipotle broccoli and literally can’t stop thinking about how good it was!! The humous was great too!

Great food, staff are nice, very good price especially for what your paying in that location portions are a small I had to eat 2 mains 1 kofta wrap which was perfect and then a chicken wrap which was decent it didn’t have enough chicken it had a lot of grilled onion . But overall good and will come back

Found this place by chance after a trip to the theatre. The staff were lovely, especially Ferris who smiled constantly. Food was excellent as were the cocktails.

A beautiful meal that exceed all expectations - all the food was enjoyed and the smaller plates make sharing ideal. Our waiter was hilarious and brought great energy to our meal.

Overall comments: Had higher expectations of the place but was left quite disappointed. Pleasantly surprised with the number of veg and vegan options it had however there are a few things I wouldn't order again. I would consider eating at a different location and may try the wrap as the veg mains were quite dead. My order was as follows: Starter(s): Hummus (V), Main(s): Impossible Kebab (VE) w/ Fries. Food: Chips made the Impossible Kebab ok but it was still not worth the money. The Hummus on the other hand was decent and the peanut curry pesto was a really good touch and saved the overall experience. Atmosphere: Was a nice comfy and spacious environment. The downstairs looked significantly better aesthetically so it can serve as a good date spot. Music was a bit too loud as me and my friends could barely hear each other speak. Service: Service was quite poor, it felt like the staff was busier having conversations instead of paying attention to tables. The food did arrive at a reasonable speed. Cost: Slightly above Mid-Range and not worth it.

Went here for a quick bite pre theatre whilst waiting on my friend. The welcome on arrival left a lot to be desired. I was offered a high stool despite many vacant tables. I explained I would be quick and was reluctantly seated. It’s clear they are short staffed but there is zero excuse for what ensued. My wine arrived which was tepid. I asked for ice which I never received. I ordered a “dirty Bab” that took such a long time to arrive and therefore ordered another drink. When it arrived the chips were cold. I handed it back and I was shocked at what happened. The female waitress went behind the counter to talk to the two chefs. They pointed and sniggered at me and then one of them proceeded to pick at the chips and repeatedly eat them. This caused a great deal of embarrassment to me and they made a bit of scene of the whole situation that other diners started to look up. I realised I needed to do something and approached the offenders and said that I would not have returned the food had it or been hot and added that the incident has been handled terribly. I got a shoulder shrug and was told they would make me another. I ate it swiftly and called for the bill. The female waitress handed me a pink covered device where I could give feedback whilst also handing me the receipt. To my astonishment the service charge had not been removed which I asked for it then to happen. A real lack of emotional intelligence and empathy. This has always been my go to fast food restaurant however for £30 I am confident my money is better spent elsewhere!
