Another disappointing visit. Inattentive serving staff. Main dish not served as ordered, then ruined at a second attempt. Rice portions ridiculously small again, but expected that. Pleasant restaurant environment, which should be much better than we have found it to be. Probably our final visit here. Shame, because it's really local for us.

My husband and I had a social supper here in a group of 12 friends. The licensed restaurant has a good car park at the rear, the place is well signposted and lit up and is easily found on Madeley High Street. We found the restaurant to be welcoming and very relaxed, with attentive and helpful waiting staff. My husband and I were a little overwhelmed by the menu as it was extensive but the dishes were helpfully described and although it took us a while to choose - everyone was patient. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meals and personally speaking, mine was flavoursome and delicious; portions were plentiful and we thought that the prices were reasonable. Would definitely return here as we enjoyed our experience and would like to try other dishes since everything looked amazing. There was a steady stream of regulars collecting takeaways too, which suggests to me that others really like the food here also.

Consigliatissimo.

I made a telephone order to the local maharaja restaurant in Madeley Telford. I was told they were busy and would take up to an hour for home delivery which I agreed. The cost was £30 for 2 curries and a nan bread, which is expensive anyway. The order arrived about an hour later and when inside the kitchen I inspected the bag contents to find the curry containers had been squashed and contents all spilt in bag and over everything. I rang the restaurant and spoke to manager about my experience and he could not of cared a less. He just said they were busy and didn't even apologise. I am furious about this. I am a local person and remember this restaurant opening back in 80's and very saddened by the lack of care and attention to customers especially when paying high prices. I will not use this place in any way again and will give negative feedback to any other potential customers I come across.

A table was booked for 7.30pm and took them 15 minutes to take our order. Our main meal arrived just before 9pm after asking where the food was. All I could taste from my meal is salt and the mushrooms were clearly out of a can. We didn’t really get an apology for this delay in food. It was bank holiday Sunday but still we actually wanted to eat at 7.30 not 9pm. My husbands food was tasteless too. This place is cheap but you get what you pay for..

Average food. Lower mark is for the extremely cramped seating arrangements. Tables seem very small - hardly any space to place the various dishes that came out. Was seated at a very cramped table in a side section of the restaurant, right next to the kitchen. Regularly immersed in smoke from the kitchen. Was pressed up against the wall to my left where I couldn’t move. Couldn’t move my chair back either as the space behind me was limited & needed to be kept clear for the trolley of dishes that came out of the kitchen. So cramped that waiters loomed in over shoulders trying to serve dishes - no social distancing!

I have had both takeaways and sit in meals here and I have to say the quality is superb. The dishes I've had are more spiced the hot, which suits me as I don't go for the numb tongue. Staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive, dishes I wasn't familiar with were explained, and our tastes were catered for. It's not bargain bucket food, it's Indian cuisine, it's not cheap but for the quality and the amount it is value for money. Will I go again? ........... I certainly will, hopefully this week

Has there been a change of ownership? What has happened? We have always in the past religiously ordered our Indian take away from here because quite simply, it was the best in town but not no more. Our meal Saturday night, was okay but not of the quality that we had come to expect on all previous orders. The starters was so salty. The mains bland. Whats happened? It is a treat to order due to the cost of a takeaway from here, but well worth it in the past. We'd like to know if there has been a change of ownership? If not, was it an off night? Please post your reply. We cannot order from you again until we know. Thank you. We will now search for another curry house. Shocked!

Great restaurant with ambient decor. Waiters were really helpful and service was second to none. To top it off, the food was just amazing - my new favourite Indian restaurant has just been discovered. Private car parking was a great help as the high street can get very busy on weekends - its very well lit and very safe, and excellently kept. You can always judge a restaurant by the condition of their restrooms - these were immaculate to say the least, with well stocked hand-wash, tissue paper and strong dryers. All in all, great food, great service, great restaurant - a nice end to a very busy day.

Having read some good reviews and our Telford based friends confirming it, we all had a take away from here. Telford obviously have a different basis for a good curry than we do, coming from the home of the balti. Where do I start? Perhaps with my vegatarian wife's starter, clearly marked veggie samosa, but clearly a lamb somosa when cut open (a poor dry one at that). I had a prawn puree which was obviously cheap frozen prawns and the puree was as tough as old boots and not fluffy as advertised. The curry I believe was made from a curry soup that they modify to whatever is ordered, the meat was poor quality and dry, and the naan was soggy and unpleasant. I have had many many currys so congratulations on being a contender for the worst.

I found this great little restaurant on TripAdvisor and yet again the site has delivered. I was only staying for one night in Telford so looking for somewhere decent to eat other than remain in the hotel restaurant. The door was opened for us as we arrived and as it wasn't very busy, we chose a nice table in the corner. The service was prompt but not rushed and they had a pretty good wine list, the Borgoyne Pinot Noir is very good. The menu has plenty of choice. We have vegetable samosa and the chicken tikka Puree - both very good. For mains my wife had grilled Tiger Prawn and I had a hot chicken dish. Both were very well spiced (mine particularly hot!) and tasted great. All staff were very helpful and friendly and regularly asked if we needed anything else.I'd highly recommend this place.2 courses with popadoms, beer and a nice bottle of wine came to £70 inclusive of tip.

I know I am old but around 30 years ago I discovered the marvellous chicken vindaloo. Ok not in this part of the country but having lived five miles from this restaurant and sampled so called chicken vindaloo in many restaurants close to our house.NOTHING.....compares to Maharaja's this is the exact most fantastic ( although not for the faint hearted ) taste I fell in love with all those years ago. This means the chef's are authentic and consistent and what you want but almost never get.I have no affiliation to Maharaja's except as a paying customer and looking online their menu is extensive. My choice is chicken vindaloo and if you are looking for a genuine reasonable priced Indian restaurant try Maharaja's I am confident you won't be disappointed.

I've been living in Telford for over 30 years now. One of my first memories of Telford was visiting the Maharaja in Madeley with friends. We had good food, good service and good fun. There was a spell when we did not go when the kids were little and it was MacDonalds instead. Probably around 10 years ago we decided to give it another go. To be honest nothing much has changed, but that's a good thing. Fantastic food and service. It's a family run business and recipes have been passed down. Sometimes we sit and have a meal but more often than not it's takeaways. They don't deliver but they don't need this as a gimmick. People flock their regardless. You can order on the phone and collect or do what we do, go there have a drink whilst you wait for your takeaway. Excellent food guys!

This reviewer went with two others for dinner. We parked in the restaurant's car park, from where one of us observed the kitchen for a couple of minutes before pronouncing herself satisfied with the hygiene and food handling. We went in nevertheless without elevated expectations, which were not raised by the wait we had to go through for a table on a Saturday night. However, we started chatting to a local couple, who also were waiting for their take-away, who told us that this was their regular restaurant with which they were very happy. We observed how well the restaurant dealt with a pair of tipsy ladies who entered for a meal at what seemed to be their regular restaurant. Before and after we sat down, we ordered, a process which took a bit longer as there were items which were not at all usual. We ate several items, all of which were very good, but I have to give special mention to two non-standard items we ate: mushroom stuffed with minced beef and chicken cooked in a mango and coconut sauce. We all agreed this was one of the very best meals we ever had had at an Indian restaurant. The staff were well-mannered and friendly, and we chatted with one of the co-owners, who informed us that the restaurant had been started 34 years previously by his grandfather. It was obvious that someone at least in the family was a perfectionist, judging not just by the food and by the decor (which was a cut above most Indian restaurants), but by what one of the party said about the cleanliness of the male toilet he visited! The meal ended with the offering to us of hot serviettes and mint chocolates, which was a nice touch.

I visited in late May with friends long resident in the area who like it and never go elsewhere for Indian dining although there are 2 other Indian restaurants in the area at least one of which has won awards. When I asked for a salty lassi to drink, the staff either had never heard of it or certainly didn't serve it - at an Indian restaurant! - and were unapologetic. I had a vegetarian curry as I don't eat meat on a Friday and this seemed to be pretty average to me. I didn't have a dessert (I rarely do) and when offered tea or coffee, I asked for masala tea as this is an Indian restaurant and I thought I might as well try it, but again it's obviously something they didn't do.

my husband and i first went here about two months ago, with a party of other people. we were a little apprehensive as we had previously only been to one other Telford Indian restaurant, which we like. however we were not disappointed. The Maharajas food is excellent, the restaurant itself has a nice ambience, being quite small. When we went again just the two of us, again we were very pleased and enjoyed another nice meal. the only slight thing that was a little bother was that as it was busy and lots of diners, when the food came for other tables and the staff heat it up on the little burners they put on the tables, the smoke from that!! we were almost engulfed in a mist of smoke for what seemed like a long time!! not perhaps so good when you are dining! but as i say, overall we were happy with the food, the location and the service.

We decided to try this eatery as we had never been there before. We had heard good things about it so took the plunge one dark night in December! The staff had us seated nice a quickly and were attentive although our waiter had difficulty understanding what we meant by orange squash so we ended up with water as we got frustrated explaining it.The starter of lamb tikka was typical of most indian restaurants although the yoghurt and mango dips were thin and pretty tasteless...there was more to come though.I had a lamb pathia, a dish that is supposed to be spicy, sweet and sour all at the same time but the effort that landed in front of me was anything but. It was way overspiced with chilli that would have over-rode every other flavour on the plate had there been any to overide. The lamb chunks ranged from soft to incredibly chewy in a largely unappetising sauce. My girlfriend's lamb tikka masala was ok but again, uninteresting.Overall, the food here isn't as good as it could be. The staff were attentive although the obligatory "is your meal ok?" as they ran past was almost funny. Almost. Will we come back for another...probably not. There are better indian resaurants close by but if you want a cheap(ish) easy meal you will get exactly that by the ladleful.

We concluded that was a good indication of the standard of the food. WE WERE CORRECT.All four of us had different dishes and each praised what was served. Speaking for myself the 2 Onion Bhajis were large and tasteful. I opted for a new experience namely Korai Duck and was blown away my its wonderful sweet taste. Right, I've slept on this before posting my review. I booked a tabled or my wife and I last night on a local recommendation whilst visiting Telford. We were quickly sat at a table in the main part of the restaurant reading the menu and waiting for our drinks to arrive when the manager then came over and said we needed to move to another table as he needed a table for a party of 5 - there was an empty table of 4 next to us and a couple of other tables free. We were moved to a table in a side area right next to the kitchen door when there were several other tables free in that area. Never mind, we were here for the food so we ordered and had a couple of beers. Being next to the kitchen wasn't the best place to sit as waiters were constantly moving past with trolleys of food and the smell emanating from the kitchen was overpowering as well as the constant talking of the staff entering/exiting the kitchen - hardly conducive to the romantic dinner we'd planned. My wife visited the toilet and returned after quite some time saying that a couple were sat at our first table and there was no party of 5! I checked and pulled the manager who was apologetic and said only a party of 3 had turned up, instead if the booked 5. Call me old fashioned but I'm not one to put up with crap service, so we paid for our drinks and popadums and left. How utterly condescending and rude to seat us at a table, give us menus and let us order drinks, to then move us to the worst table in the restaurant when several other tables were free. Can't comment on the food because we didn't try it and we never again will. We are now frequent visitors to Telford but we will not be coming back here. And to think we went with a recommendation and had cancelled our reservation at the Pondicherry for this Indian restaurant! Never again mate, if you treat your customers like morons, you deserve honest feedback like this.

Well what can I say? Everything about this restaurant exceeds all expectations. Food is the best in the area by far, well worth the extra cash. But the main thing about this restaurant is the service, our waiter was brilliant, hilarious, full of banter and extremely welcoming. Please visit this Indian it will not disappoint.

Went here for a night out with the family!! Already had been here a few times before as always it lived up to it's great expectations, food was amazing delicious as always, probably need to have a bigger selection of desserts as mostly all of them were ice cream and I'm not too fond of ice cream! But all is good and will 10/10 visit again ! Ps: cute fish in tank !

After visiting 3 different pubs on a Sunday evening after 7pm to find none of them were serving food because of the time we decided to see if the Indian restaurants appreciated not all of their customers are able to get to a restaurant that early after a busy day out of the area. We have been to Maharaja's before, my partner once and myself 4 times and once again it did not disappoint. The welcome was warm although there were not many customers, due most likely to the World Cup Final on TV, drinks order was taken immediately and delivered promptly (always a gripe of mine if I can't have a drink while perusing the menu). My partner was taking a while to make his choices so we ordered papadoms which soon appeared and satisfied until choices were made and the main courses arrived. We both ordered King prawn dishes with Pilau rice, mine was lovely but partner said his were a little overcooked and we shared a nan bread which was light & fluffy. Overall really nice food, freshly cooked and very friendly & courteous staff.

Quite simply, as the title says; Telford's best Indian Restaurant by far! When we have guests at our home we always take them there, and no body has ever been disappointed. They have an extensive menu, but will cater for any personal choices if you can't see what you want; they'll even tone up or down a dish to suit your particular pallet. If I want an authentic take-away I'll always opt for one from TM. Their take-aways are equally as good as the food served in the actual restaurant. The only down side to home eating is that you don't get to experience the wonderful waiters, that will always make you feel at home and very comfortable. The guys are always welcoming and a joy to know.I really can't recommend TM enough.

I used to eat here regularly at one time, found it a little cramped being seated in the centre,we had booked but still had a 45 minute wait, wish i could say It was worth it but found it to be an average meal and quiet a small portion for the price compared to other Indian restaurants. We shall use other Indian restaurants over this one in the future.

I visited here with my husband and a few of his work colleagues (7 of us in total) in between Christmas and New year. The restaurant was fairly busy and most tables had customers. Our table was booked for 7pm. Menus were handed out and drinks orders were taken, our drinks were served promptly. Food orders were taken for our starters and mains. We finally got our starters at 8:10 and our main course after 8:30. We then felt rushed to finish our meals by staff hovering around and one asked if we had all finished and was about to clear the table until he realised there was someone still eating. It's a shame we had to wait so long for our meals and then be rushed, because the food was really good and very tasty.

We went last night to celebrate a family birthday, we went 2 weeks ago to celebrate a family birthday, we worked out last night that this has been our local Indian restaurant of choice for over 25 years! The welcome is warm, we are never rushed and the food is consistently good, especially the chicken tikka balti with a plain nan washed down with cobra beer, the starters are also very good. Through all these years the food has remained fairly consistent. The desert is standard Indian restaurant ice cream flavours highlighted by the usual chintzy photographs that make you go... Nah.The takeaway meals are also a reliable bet.

Although we have eaten here more than once it has to be said that everything about it is first class whenever we go, nothing changes, it's always very good in every respect. We do not live locally so we go there when we are visiting family in Madeley, it's a 'must' for us every time. The food, service and atmosphere are great.

Visited last night, entered the restaurant without a booking but although they were quite busy they found us a nice table. We were served drinks promptly while we browsed the ample menu. My partner and I both opted for the mixed thali, neither of us had tried this before but we were really glad we did. There was a bit of a wait for the meal to arrive but the restaurant was very busy and we found this wait acceptable. The meal arrived, it consisted of a large tray with a bowl of chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, rice, sheesh kebab, salad and a very large naan bread. More than enough food and it was piping hot. The naan bread was hot and fluffy and quite honestly the nicest I have tasted in a long time. The mint and yoghurt sauce was gorgeous too. All this food for £12.95 each, very reasonable. We would have no problem recommending this restaurant, the food and service are brilliant. The restaurant is situated on a one way street but there is ample parking to the rear.

I've eaten here a couple of times previously but review based on recent visit. I actually went out of my way to go here again as had told my Son how good it was and we were travelling together. As before, the service was welcoming, friendly and attentive, the food was excellent - based on plain and spicy popadums, my Chicken Madras, my Son's chicken Korma which he told me was lovely and Nan bread. Clean, smart decor and busy with a good atmosphere but very reasonably priced. I'll definitely go back yet again when next in the area and will be trying other dishes.

I've been to this restaurant a fair few times but over the last few months I have noticed it has gone down hill. The last time I went I was served RAW chicken due to what they said was a mix up in the kitchen, Very comforting to know I could have been seriously ill due to this. Whilst my order was being remade my partner was left to eat on her own, had I not been with my partner I would have complained a lot more. I never even got as much as a free Poppadom. very disappointing the way this was dealt with maybe I should have mentioned environmental health! However I went again recently but this time we got completely the wrong food, I ordered chicken but got lamb and my friend ordered omelette but got what looked like prawn. again not dealt with very well I even had to ask for clean cutlery as I had started to use mine. I will not be going back to this restaurant until it improves!!

I've been going here since forever. My family all go here, and they love it. I don't no anyone who has a bad word to say about it. The food is gorgeous, so tasty and presented lovely. The staff are friendly and always have been. It's reasonable pricing for an Indian restaurant. It's the best place to eat in telford, and saying that I've never been to an Indian that compares to this and I've been to many on holidays, in England and local and this always comes out on top. It's a great Indian dining experience and I would recommend it to anyone!

I have visited a few times now and have not been disappointed. The choice, quality and value of the food is excellent. Friendly and attentive staff without being pushy. Great to have a thali outside of the city. Fifth star would have been earned if the takeaway hadn't taken so long to take away

We were visiting Telford and decided on the strength of the trip advisor reviews to try this place. We were not dissapointed. The service was excellent and this was one of the best flavoured curries we had had in a long time. Well worth a trip.

decided to give this one a whirl but oh how disappointed I was. The service was extremely slow we waited over a hour for our food that was only luke warm when it arrived. People on a nearby table waited nearly 2 hours for their food. The waiter was not attentive in any way nor friendly. The decor all worn out and dirty, I won't be returning.

Never had a bad meal here and was surprised to see a 'poor' vote from one reviewer. I would have thought that if they had raised the issues there and then, they would have been resolved immediately as the waiters here are so helpful, friendly and professional at all times. I have been here frequently over the last 5 years or so and have always had great food. There is a broad menu with food for all tastes. The atmosphere is good and I look forward to going back each time. Well worth a visit. They do a takeaway service also but I recommend a meal inside.
