Lunch for 4 here. Two x Caesar salads, one chilli mince and one seafood chowder, all very good with Cappuccinos to follow. Service always helpful and friendly..

The skinny fries were ok got the beef & bird burger 2 goujons on a dried up burger £17 never again a chip van would be better

Beautiful steak and fantastic service for my GF’s birthday , highly recommend coming here for food if staying for a night in Castlewellan!

With a toddler and dog in tow with our party, finding somewhere that can accommodate us all is tricky. The staff at Maginns couldn't have been more accommodating! They set down a bowl of water for the dog and we had a seperate area all to ourselves so she could be off leash. Plus the service was delivered with a smile and was fantastic!

We had lunch, midweek, in September. The food was amazing. Kids split fish and chips and my wife had the chicken stack with leek and bacon cream sauce. Wow! The mash was amazing and the cream sauce was absolutely amazing.

Food was great as was the service but there was no real music or atmosphere. Place is crying out for either a group or DJ to liven the place up

Great place 👌 tho the food came out worryingly fast i got the cheese and bacon burger. The cheese had melted and cooled again on the burger and the fries where i little cool other than that it was lovely. I would go back again and try something else.

Always visit this pub when I'm in the town. In thirty years it's never disappointed, very comfortable for just a drink and if you're eating the menu is varied and well prepared. Good value for money, great staff, happy days

The staff are so friendly and very helpful. We were a party of 12, and they sorted seating for us all together without us booking in advance. I would recommend this venue for families and alike. The food was delicious.

Great place, was very busy due to Castlewellan Show and also 1st All Ireland Semi Final. Barstaff are always really friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was bubbly. The reason for the 3 stars is not because the food wasn't good, it's very good, it's because they put chips in these little baskets which means you get about 10 chips and no side salad!! Overall we had a great time!!

Was in here before and the food was great when returning only a few days age June 2024 it was very bad I was charged £14 for plane fried small chicken breast and about 20 skinny fries no veg wish I had took a photo, never to return.

Food was far from Great steak was over done ask for medium rare got burnt and tough. Chips wer hard and portions wer small.

I came here on Saturday evening for a meal and it was delicious the dessert was so tasty it's a lovely place and the staff are so friendly and helpful

Held my daughter’s christening party here in summer 2023. Great communication and hospitality. We had a large number of guests and the venue was very flexible and accommodating for our needs. Fantastic food, surroundings, staff and extremely reasonable price. Excellent service throughout. Beautiful surroundings. A great day out.

We called in here after a nice walk round Castlewellan Lake. We all had a lovely meal and it was very reasonably priced. Portions were very generous. We were seated beside the fire. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely return when next in the area.

Arrived after 4pm, with daughter, new born and granddaughter in tow, after a good walk in the Castlewellan park. Our services was lovely, very accommodating and attentive. Food great value and it was a lovely experience.

Excellent service and food. We all had steak sandwiches and they were really good, Chucky chips and pepper sauce with crispy tobacco onions on the steak.

We had a lovely meal in Maginns. The staff are very attentive and courteous. My wife and I both had the chicken stack and it was delicious. We shared the cheese cake and it was so tasty. I would also add that prices are very reasonable compared to Belfast.

Had a burger and fries here yesterday with a group of 10. The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. The wait wasn't long between ordering the food and eating it.

Must go inside to see finish ... but does need better cleaning

Called in for some lunch when out and about from a cottage break, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great, appears to be popular with families but it was a Sunday lunchtime!

Absolutely love Maginss.Been here quite a few times. The food is excellent. Plenty of choice on the menu. Always a warm and friendly welcome. Great decor, very nicely done up. Service is excellent. Big portions. Great value for money. Go see for yourself you'll not be disappointed👍

Pretty outside ,spacious and comfortable in. Good menu choice. As someone who doesn’t like chicken it’s sometimes hard to find something I would want, here that isn’t a problem.

Took a drive to Castlewellan tonight to go for walk in forest, the weather was not in our favour, so we ended up in Maginns bar for dinner, what a lovely place it is, i could not fault that food 😋, plenty of veggie options also. The lad behind the bar an the waitress could not have been any better, thryre a credit to your business, be sure to be back. Thank you.

We ate Saturday 10th June 2023, checked for the menu on their web page before our visit, none there, they did however have a Craft beer menu was looking forward to that, opps was told " we haven't sold craft beers from COVID" so no craft beers.Take that off your web page please don't offer what you don't have. Everything on our plates was more or less a frozen product, had battered chicken fillet, frozen, mash was nice , served with a lackluster pepper sauce, my wife had two starters as a main both were made up of frozen items. Had a Guinness, my wife wanted wine, no list, "we have red white or rose? She had a small glass of beer, after dinner we paid and left, went across the road and plenty of craft beers in there, they had a selection of wines also and could name them off. Wasn't in their main bar which was busy so can comment on that experience

So nice to have more than one vegan option on a menu! Staff were really friendly and food was tasty. Pub has lots of character and a lovely place for a solo meal.

Cracking bar, full of character and punters enjoying the craic. Lovely interior design with lots of mahogany paneling and curiosities mounting throughout. The bar staff and servers are very friendly, accommodating, welcoming and helpful. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Smashing place to unwind after a bite to eat . Close to Castlewellan forest park, right at the end or beginning of main street. Top spot .

Very poor, ordered Gammon Steak Two Small pieces of baked hem arrived on a plate and a portion of frys. To say it was a sad looking plate of food was an understatement. They are plenty more establishments crying out for our business and it looks like this is not one of them. P.S. Staff were made aware before we left of how dissatisfied we felt.

Absolutely fantastic bar/restaurant at the heart of Castlewellan.My wife and I were staying at the forest park and decided to go into town for a meal. Quite a nice 10 minute walk. Found this cracker bar Maginns which looks fairly small from the front however it's massive inside. The decor is first class Monhogany carpentry. I really would have thought it was an old Church at one time but apparently not, it always was a bar/restaurant.This would be an ideal setting for weddings etc. Ok down to the important stuff like the food etc. All I can say is tasty , inexpensive and served with a pleasant smiling face! We will definitely visit again when we're staying at the forest park. 5 stars👍 Returned on the 15/10/22 and can say it has maintained a good standard of service and food.

Don't take any cocktails from coctail meniu. Taste like half glass vodka with ample juice. Atmosphere is nice, clean.

Love this place when we are camping in castlewellan, good options for allergy's/intolerances, parking at front of building. Staff are very helpful and friendly and good atmosphere between staff and everyone

Had a lovely meal here last summer on a Saturday lunchtime in a packed bar so decided to call again.the practically empty bar was a surprise but we now know why.the food was just about edible.certainly won't be back

Had a really nice meal and a cold pint of Guinness 2 Adults and 2 kids...Food was Amazing. We were stuck in traffic most of the day and we called into Maginns Bar last minute...really best decision of the Easter Monday. Staff were very friendly,orders were quickly taken...food was hot and tasty.Bill was very reasonable too.10/10 from us....we will be back
