Nice place for a quiet social drink

Stopped by for lunch. It was fairly quiet, ordered food at the bar and it arrived fairly quickly, freshly cooked and hot. I went for the brisket burger and fries. Burger was tasty, fries were crispy and very good. Only downside was initially they wanted us to order from the Christmas dinner menu and it took a bit of persuading to get the regular lunch menu. A decent experience all round.

Absolutely brilliant service, lovely warm welcome. Had chicken goujons and chunky chips, I cleared my plate, the salad with it was so fresh. I will be back.

Was shown a tour by the bar tender and they were so kind and open to give us the history of the building, including the fireplace from 1642! Seafood chowder and burger were delicious to go with it.

Great food very fresh and tasty. Rooms okay but had a flight of stairs bit difficult for hubby.

Had breakfast twice and dinner here once both when we were staying in the hotel. Food was delicious and portion sizes generous, great value for money. Staff friendly and helpful.

I went out for a meal with my cousins to Denvers hotel in Downpatrick. Staff were very friendly & helpful. They showed us to the dining room & asked us if we would like a drink. Then, they brought us our meal which had been pre-ordered. Denver’s hotel is situated in English Street in Downpatrick & there’s a car park just off English Street. I think you have to phone to book a table for your meal. The food is excellent & the hotel also has some history behind it as well. Stephen Acton.

Staff are efficient and friendly. Food is excellent and there is a great atmosphere in what is a historic building which has retained its character.

After speaking to staff about excessive noise (pub keeping local drunks in) after 23:00 on Tuesday evening, its finally gets quiet in next 20 minutes, guessing that considering your guests means nothing in this parts. Kind regards Mr Won't Recommend

A lovely evening in Denvirs for dinner and drinks. Beautifully served food by Ursula and Mary in the restaurant with a friendly service and excellent product knowledge for wine and steak and salmon...both were great, melt in your mouth with delicious green side vegetables and crispy potatoes. William, from bar staff, served the wine and most wonderful Irish coffees with great, but short, conversation and humour. William is a highlight of Denvirs...be sure to ask for him at the bar, he has the strongest, surest and gentlest handshake of Welcome. A lovely time in Denver's had by all. Will see Ursula, Mary, and especially, William again 🤩

A tricky review.... service by staff was very good - they were friendly and efficient - however the overall experience was disappointing due to VERY slow service. I understand its Christmas, but the kitchen should be prepared for the number of tables they have booked. A long delay (25 minutes) for starters to arrive, then almost a 45 minute wait between starter and main course. When it arrived, the food was very nice - and as above, staff were great (but no offer of a drink to ease the delay, which would have been nice!).

Had a great lunch today reasonably priced. Only negative thing one of the staff chewing gum the whole time he was talking and serving! What has happened to the service industry??

We had a fantastic time here on our most recent trip. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. And the food was absolutely top notch as always.

Historic bar. Very atmospheric. Staff very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Made us cod and chips even though these weren't on menu. Very reasonably priced. Only complaint was fish a bit boney and still had some skin on which I dont really like. Delicious though.

Lovely staff, clean comfortable room, great food & very Covid compliant.Special mention for the breaded Brie starter & the full breakfast which were both awesome. i went there with my friend for a nice, quiet night out and the older, male member of staff who was serving us our drinks was rude to me and my friend the entire time. my friend asked about the cocktail options and this staff member responded with “you’re really doing my head in tonight”. he seemed to be in a bad mood and decided to take it out on me and my friend… not what i would consider to be good customer service at all.

Amazed at this hotel. Definitely a hidden gem. Hard working staff ensuring we had the best of attention. Beautiful medieval type rooms with comfy beds. Quaint hotel with friendly staff, great food and easy on the budget.

Had family function for group of about 20. All food was pre ordered in advance. Considering this the service was slooow! Food ok but nothing special. Service was very average. Won't rush back

Always have this place on my to go place.Great selection of food very reasonably priced .You can choose to eat in the restaurant or the lounge.They have music all over the bar, even in the “ Beer Garden.Best place for a small group is the “ Snug Bar” and yes it’s well named. Plus rooms for Bed and Breakfast.Don’t go by this place.

Had a really nice meal at Denvir's, with very friendly service, a varied menu, decent food, nice ambiance and reasonable prices. I would guess that this is the best in Downpatrick

Spending a week in Ireland, my first restaurant to visit was at Denvir’s. What a nice welcome! It’s a great cozy atmosphere, with delicious food to match. Our very large group was pleased with the beer choices on tap and the risotto that features local mushrooms. I don’t know exactly what kind of a cake we had for dessert, but it was amazing. It seemed like a spice cake enrobed in chocolate, topped with walnuts and drizzled with caramel. To die for! Service was attentive throughout. Don’t miss this historic restaurant on a trip to Downpatrick.

Denvir’s was such a nice stop! This was some of the best food we have had in Ireland. Cheap, easy, and tasty! Not to mention, the staff is friendly and helpful.

Attending neice's wedding, and arranged to meet up for dinner here previous evening. Arrived late due to delay picking up hire car and traffic issues, so lucky kitchen stayed open long enough for us all to eat. Interesting menu, and chowder and steak I had were terrific.

We stayed for two nights at the inn. We also ate dinner in the restaurant.

Went yesterday afternoon for lunch I got the goujons my husband had the chicken burger and my son had the beef burger. My goujons were bland and my husbands chicken burger was very greasy, my sons burger was fine. Would definitely go elsewhere for food, staff were friendly but no one checked with us to see if the meal was ok.

Pretty simple, Bar staff are brilliant and on there game, 10/10 But was a night out, 00:14 Friday night, no ice and very warm glasses. Female toilets are a mess and no warm water. It’s not hard to be on your game.

great menu choice,friendly staff and great atmosphere in this historic hotel/inn in Downpatrick.I've been here for lunch and dinner on several occasions and have never had a bad meal.Staff are very friendly and attentive.lovely restored old fashioned lounge bar,restuarant and snug bar as well as a modern function room for birthday parties and larger functions.I would highly recommend this place.

We had a nice meal with reasonable service (although waiter did not come back to check on meal). The fish and chips was not as good as we have had at pubs so at this place, order something different. My pasta was delicious.

My friend and I popped in late in the evening on Sunday night, the bar was busy and lively but we had no problem being served a meal in the restaurant.

Staff couldn't be more helpful. Terrific meal delicious, plenty to eat, well cooked, fantastic price. The rooms are a delight, cozy, spacious, comfy beds, great wifi. Good price but such a beautiful old building.

Lovely wee restaurant with a good menu, friendly attentive staff and great food. Would recommend. We had the garlic bread, pate, pork and peppered chicken - all of which were lovely.

We enjoyed a dinner meal in the separate restaurant. Mine was a matured sirloin steak and hers was duck a l'orange (with an excellent sauce). Meals were to a very good standard. Wine selection could be better. And the piped bar music doesn't suit the white cloth service.

Denvirs gets better each time I visit. On this occasion with a group of twelve we were seated in the dining room with great ambience and excellent music both in Selection and quality..

Just spent several days staying here and had a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Had some great meals, fine wine and cider!

A group of us dined here on New Years Eve. It was busy enough but not too busy. Food and service was excellent. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here, but I will be returning very soon. Keep up the good work.

As I arrived lateish at the hotel I decided to eat here rather than look for a decent restaurant, how pleased was I. The menu choice was very good, the food was beautifully cooked and the portions were not small. Definitely recommended.

Denvir’s is soaked in history and the restaurant is no exception. The dining room reflects old world charm and atmosphere with its 17th century fireplace and often an open fire. There’s a lovely ambience to the restaurant.

A beautiful old historic building which needs some TLC.. please please clean clean clean! Attended a party here recently just disappointed in the standard of cleanliness!

Made the trip down again to Denvir’s to avail of their superb Sunday Lunch.

Good food, attentive waiting staff We had drinks in the bar beforehand and then went through to the restaurant. our friend was lactose intolerant and htis was dealt with by the chef

Staff were polite and friendly. Wide range of food. Vegetarian options were available and quite exciting to choose from.

Great for Sunday lunch carvery, usually 4 or 5 different meats available. Very good value. Recommend booking first

Well what can I say... First of all I was a bit iffy about going as I thought it can be hit or miss as before but... Made a great choice.... A Monday night... Last minute night out for tea and what a great choice we made to go here... Food was lovely as well as the service... Fair play to The two young guys who both looked after us very well... We turned up on Sunday evening for a meal and both decided to have the traditional Sunday dinner option. My husband opted for beef and I opted for turkey and ham with stuffing. We've had quite a few Sunday dinners in pubs and often you are given two, maximum three slices of meat to go with the vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. At Denvir's we got quite a lot of meat, upwards of five slices of really nicely done roast. The vegetables were lovely too, not too overcooked and the mashed potato in particular was lovely. I even ate the carrots, which I don't normally eat, as they were so nice. I also liked that we were given gravy in a boat as well as having some already on our plates, as I often end up asking for extra gravy and, although only the beef was advertised with Yorkshire pudding, I asked if I could have one too and they were accommodating, which was great for me, as I don't think a Sunday dinner IS a Sunday dinner without a Yorkshire pudding. We were served quickly for drinks and to order our food, which came in good time. I had dessert, while my husband had coffee. I ordered pecan pie and instead of receiving a mere sliver, as you might do in some restaurants, I received a large piece, which I gobbled up. The inn itself is impressively old, but not at all old fashioned and we saw plenty of people in it who had come out dressed up for a night out in town, as well as diners like ourselves. We ate in the bar because the restaurant was fully booked, proving how popular the place is. Highly recommend this for a good quality, good value Sunday meal.

We stay for seven Nights. Very good Breakfast, all people are very kindly and helpful. The dinner is very good. We enjoyed it very much. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Had planned to eat here today as I had be so well fed the last time I was in town. So just strolled up fro the town center for a coffee in this wee gem . Is got a great bit off character and craic enjoyed an all to brief stay this time. As I expected great staff and a ice coffee

Was staying here for the night and couldn't pass up on the opportunity to try the outstanding food. The menu had some fantastic choice and for great prices. I started with the Irish brie, then had the cheese and ham pie (which was to die for!) followed by chocolate fudge cake with butterscotch sauce. All of it was delicious with great portions, served up by helpful and friendly staff. Brilliant choice of drinks too in a charming pub - would certainly recommend!

A beautiful bar restaurant hidden in Downpatrick you really must give it a try arrived hungry tired and cold and the staff very kindly fitted me and my partner in even though we hadn't booked restaurant and bars were very busy but the staff served yoou like you were the only diner food was p7ping hot and freshly cooked and very very good Christmas fayre was available along side the denver menu which was very impressive very relaxing I definitely would feel confident enough to say do book xnd have a meal you will be surprised note parking is on street and is on a very steep hill but worth it

Friendly bar serving good food in a lovely atmosphere. The place was busy when we arrived about 7.45 pm on a Thurs night which meant that we had to wait for a while for the food to be served but when it arrived, freshly cooked, it was worth the wait.

Downpatrick socialites love their local. I've had many down the years and in more recent times Denvir's features highly. Once accepted as a regular you feel you can have more of a say. You don't. Denvir's is not owned by it's patrons, it's SHARED. Those who really love it's history, it's ambience, it's craic, it's comradeship, SHARE it. Come along and join the companionship and then SHARE it yourself.
