Amazing food, great service. It is a shame they have now clised becayse if retirement. I wish them well!

I have been here several times in the past and absolutely love the food - that has not changed. What has changed is the hygiene, the carpet floor is very sticky to walk on, menus really dirty and overall just not nice at all, very grubby! It is such a shame as the food and the staff are fabulous.

Terrible meal. The food was bland and tasteless. I left most of mine which was probably for the best as my son ended up with a mild case of food poisoning. I hadn't realised the restaurant has a food hygiene rating of 2 but I won't be going again.

Nice food always tasty and hot owner very nice and chatty would recommend this place either to sit in or takeaway well worth the money

Freddie and I dined at the magic wok this week whilst on a business trip The set dinner we chose had plenty of quantity but whilst offered nothing unpleasant was a basic chinese buffet pleasant but nothing particularly memorable The venue is part small pub and part sit down cantonese restaurant The bill of £58 included two pints of Cider and was very reasonable There’s plenty of free parking accessible via drive to the side of the property All in all a fair and reasonable offering

The food at the Magic Wok is pleasant enough; the stir fried seafood in a bird's nest is a slightly unusual choice, for example. But it's competent rather than exceptional, with a tendency for a degree of sameness underlying the sauces. And prices in the restaurant are now a little on the high side. Everything we had was cooked to order, and portions were of a reasonable size. It's borderline between 3 & 4 blobs, but I think the prices just push it the wrong side.

Spent £70 on the Christmas Eve for 4 of us as a first time customer, quite simply the worst, driest, most tasteless Chinese food I have ever had the misfortune to buy. All 4 of us had a taste of each dish and consigned the whole lot to the bin.

Food was very nice well tasty would recommend this place for its food and good staff also reasonably priced to 👍👍👍👍👍👍

This is has been our go to take away for a long time however sadly the standard has really changed. Not sure if they have a new chef but after the last 3 meals we won’t be returning. We gave them a chance thinking it was a one off. First time they left ingredients out of the meal that was the main ingredient so basically was just a few veg and sauce. Prawn toast was overdone. Recent meal was so bland and had an odd taste had to throw it. Such a shame as it used to be so good. Wasted too much money to try again.

I do not know what has happened to this restaurant since the last time I came. It was recommended to us and we have always found it to be good before today. We have just had a takeaway . We normally order 3 main meals and two flavours of rice. This, with prawn crackers provides us with a good meal for two. The containers for the takeaway were only HALF full. When each dish costs £8, this means that 2 soupspoons of food cost £4. This is a total rip off, even with the current inflation rate. 2 of 3 dishes were heavily packed out with large pieces of onion. Giving an example: the king prawn curry had just 5 king prawns, each around the size of a 50p piece and 17 chunks of onion. As my partner doesn't eat onion, I ended up eating mainly onion in 3 sauces! I cannot deny that the sauces are very tasty, but I really resent this level of cut back and stealthy price increase. I don't want to buy a 'meal' and to discover that it is a snack. Rather than half the portion size, do the honourable thing and put the prices up. Your customers are not fools.

hello i have just got a takeaway from magic wok and i cannot believe how bad someone can cook i ordered prawn toast seeded fried bread is what i got chicken chasew yellow bean Sauce chicken from last year hopefully so tuff special fried rice bland still waiting for flavor pancake rolls dry as f my niece and her friend is still waiting for some sort of flavor the crab claws needed help sorry to say the whole meal need help please don't try they got some major work to do before i go back there even on a Tuesday i never complain but omg i had to i just wish there was lower than 1

Strange odour from the food was noticed when I put the carry bag in to the car after collecting the food from Magic Wok. The food had an odd taste starting with the seaweed, BBQ ribs and my beef and black bean with fried rice..My wife had the chicken yellow bean sauce and cashew nuts which we she could not eat as the chicken was rubbery in texture. We usually have half of our meal on the evening and the remainder for lunch on Sunday, unfortunately this time the meal was consigned to the waste bin. Not impressed.

Fantastic food and fantastic staff. Always so welcoming always the best food! It’s now one of my favourite places to eat

The service was great, the food can out very quickly and was delicious. Will definitely be returning soon.

Family of 6 meal with lots of sides and it seriously was the best Chinese takeaway food for years, tast and fresh. Additionally one family member is Pescatarian and to find a good menu that had fish (not just shellfish) on was the reason we looked for somewhere new and we have found a treasure. Nice friendly staff too. Thanks.

Lovely food and given how busy it was we were surprised that we only had to wait 10/15mins for our order!

Had a takeaway from here, was dry and bland, probably the worst Chinese food we’ve had, chicken was odd and rubbery, the sauce on one dish was watery and an odd colour to other takeaways with the same dish, won’t be going back

Für einfache chinesische Küche ist man hier genau am richtigen Ort.Lockere Atmosphäre und gutes Essen. Der Wirt und die Getränke sind wie man es sich in einem kleine Lokal vorstellt. Danke.

The people who work here are delightful. They are helpful and know their cuisine. In addition, and vital for me. they can adapt recipes to cater for my allergy! Free prawn crackers to nibble on even if you're just collecting a takeaway. Have been going here for years as they make a special occasions safe, but tasty, even though the building is a little dated.

This is the best and most consistent Chinese take away local to Newport Pagnell. Nothing bad to say, standard menu with plenty of choice. can have a long wait, but prepare for it, its popular and cooked to order.

We visited as a group of three on Saturday 1st December. For starters the bbq ribs were tasty as was the spring rolls. However the chicken satay was a very strange type of chicken. It was like rubber and tasted like no chicken I had ever eaten before. The mains of sweet and sour chicken. Chicken chow mein and chicken curry turned up and were sent back as again the chicken was just not nice. The service was friendly if a little slow and the building very tired and run down.

Nothing bad to say - consistently average food and you always know what you are going to get. Wait times can be very long though and parking is an issue.

Booked in the week as part of my brothers pre wedding celebration. The Staff were very accommodating on the phone and genuinely exited to welcome us on the forthcoming Saturday night. Although extremely busy, they made every effort to make us comfortable and entertained before seeing to us in a timely and professional manner. Given we had a large group we opted to each pay a standard sum of £20 and see what the chef could conjure up! We we not disappointed. The food was exceptional and had great variety to cater for all tastes. The staff are prompt, educated in their cuisine and extremely polite. all this made for a great gastro evening. Well done Magic Wok. We'll be back.

I got a takeaway from the magic wok as the normal one I went to in Newport Pagnell was closed, it was way over priced the same food cost £3 more and was completely tasteless, there was absolutely no taste in any of it, it was the blandest Chinese food I had ever tasted, prawns tasted frozen. I most definitely won’t be returning.

went for our usual family night out we just love this restaurant the food is to die for .Inside is a bit unusual but it is a very comfortable no loud music playing you can eat and have a conversation if you haven"t been go I am sure you would enjoy it don"t go by what the negative people say I think they just like to moan

The food was disgusting! Reheated in huge amount of oil! No sauces! No flavour absolutely awful!! Will never go back again! Beef chow mien and special chow mien, horrible!!

My partner & I often go to this chinese...One of the best chinese take aways in MK!! Chicken curry - lush! Veg spring rolls - tasty & crispy. Prawn crackers included in your meal... what more could you ask for?!

Came here with family and must say even tho it's a bit strange to be in an old pub, it makes it fun, all the staff were great, made us feel welcome and the drink were topped up!

Encontramos el wok magia cuando se alojen en Newport Pagnell para una estancia de una noche. Es un restaurante chino y comida para llevar encuentra en un pub. . . Pero no te desanimes por el aspecto o la decoración del lugar. El personal amable y excelente comida pronto despejó cualquier preocupación que teníamos. Rango medio pero me pareció que tenía una buena relación calidad-precio. Sin duda, volveríamos si nos alojamos en la zona de nuevo.

The best Chinese in Newport Pagnell! The food is always fantastic and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. I would defiantly recommend a visit, take out and dine in portions are very good.

Mi familia les encanta este chino la comida es excelente, el personal es de lo mejor, la decoración está un poco anticuada, pero que no están ahí para comer que están allí para la maravillosa comida no un ajetreado restaurante pero comer en comodidad y puedes hablar con los otros. 8 of us ate here for a birthday meal and all the staff are very friendly and always smiling all of our food was excellent one of the best Chinese meals I have had we all had different dishes and all were great service was excellent and good range of desserts and liquor coffees we will be returning a little more expensive than some Chinese restaurants but so worth that little bit more a big thank you to all the staff

One of my colleagues had told me about Magic Wok, saying to look past the appearance and enjoy the food. He was 100% correct.Went with some fellow singers, and we ordered some set meals in a large group. Whilst there was quite a long wait for food, the staff were very friendly, and had a fantastic rapport with us. When it arrived, the food was absolutely scintillating, and there was plenty (for a reasonable price). We had a great time, and was a fantastic evening. Definitely recommend.

Popped in on Monday night. We were the only people in restaurant to begin with but it soon filled up. Decor would maybe raise eyebrows and question yourself as to what you are doing there but stick with it. Service and food were very good. Would recommend it.

We attended a big family meal and a lot of effort was made to accommodate us all. We had a fixed menu of starter, duck and then main courses, the food was ok, not bad but we have eaten better. All in all, it's a nice little pub with sky to with basic Chinese cuisine, I do not want people to think this was poor because it wasn't. Just a cosy little local takeaway and restaurant. The owner Tim was very welcoming and the staff were polite. Would go again.

The interior is lie and early 1980s pub caught in a small town time warp. Its not till the extremely happy owner/manager says hello that you realize its a Chinese restaurant. The food was bit two sweet for my liking, i think i chose the wrong dishes, so i haven't marked them down on that. Very friendly.

Tim makes you feel very welcome. The food is always superb, fresh and plentiful. Thoroughly recommend.

My partner and I visited Magic Wok for a take away, the place looks like an old pub. Staff were very friendly and we didn't wait long for our takeaway. The food was awful! Rice was hard (not cooked) and the meat dishes were very chewy and not of good quality. We will not visit Magic Wok again.

I never thought I'd be a regular anywhere ... But that is what we are at the Magic Wok. The guys are very friendly and the balance is good between take away and dining in. Sure this is not Le Manor, or some other high end restaurant, what it is a good non-pretentious place with good food. Try the Mongolian Lamb!!! Nuff said

The Chinese food here is some of the best we have had and we frequently visited when we lived in Newport Pagnell. I also love the little bar you can sit and have a drink in while you wait.The family are very nice people, make you feel welcome.The restaurant itself is a little dated but it doesn't really matter to us, however, if you wanted a romantic or ambient theme you might be a little disappointed.

Food is lush and the staff are fab. Decor leaves a lot to be desired but just get past it for awesome food. It is our regular Chinese

This converted pub looked a bit dodgy as we entered as the decor is very dated, the carpets extremely dirty and threadbare and the layout inside was all a bit odd however the staff are all extremely helpful and friendly and the food was actually extremely enjoyable. We had the duck to start with which was finely shredded (I would have preferred this to have been a bit more lumpy with larger pieces of crispy skin) and it was very tasty. For mains we shared some Singapore noodles (nice and spicy), sweet & sour chicken, a seafood stir fry, special fried rice and shredded chicken... Really nice and tasty dishes. I would be happy to revisit if working back in the area.

The staff are amazing. Can't fault their attitude towards great customer service. Food is a little behind the times but fairly decent. You can't go wrong with a few pints and some food. Prices also ok. Will go back just for the nice pint, lovely people and illegal tv!!

I have used the Magic Wok for years - both for takeaways and dining in : it is so much an old friend I have never written a review before. But they deserve it.The welcome is always warm; the lounge is a good place to relax with good beers; the food is always great (with very generous portions ) ; and it's decent value.The place is old fashioned - but with that goes old fashioned customer service. Definitely my favourite food in Newport Pagnell.

My husband and I use the magic wok regularly as we love it. The take away service is excellent. If you buy a drink while waiting then they hold your food back until you have finished so you are not rushed. If you are eating in the food is served quickly and hot. Will always be going to the wok.

For a converted pub the atmosphere is ok. The food is always good and the service is both friendly and efficient. Price is reasonable but can get expensive as you drink more alcohol!

Another family visit to one of our favourite chinese restaurants the food was great as as the service . A very easy and relaxing place to have a a nice family meal . Yes it is a small restaurant but that does not take away any of the atmosphere .We go here a lot and have never had a bad meal yet.

Very disappointing venu - their crispy duck, if you can call it such arrives at the table already shredded, very dry and tasteless, their lemon chicken also soggy and hard to digest - then when the bill arrives you get a shock as it is one of the most expensive Chinese restaurants in the area - no value for money.

Ordered takeaway from here last week and whilst the food was swift, hot and tasty, my wife found quite a lot of hair in her food - and in more than one dish. When I called to raise this, a replacement dish was offered, the lack of surprise at the issue was disconcerting.I'm afraid we won't be back

This take away/ restaurant is always a reliable choice. The staff make this a very friendly environment and they are good at remembering the names of customers and making them feel welcome. Good veggie choices on the menu. Never had any complaints.

Another great meal at the wok food to die for lovely staff who look after you just right not rushed while you are eating not to busy and no loud music so you are able to hold a conversation with the rest of the party we will be returning again and again

The magic wok was a second choice After another restaurant was full. It looks run down and isn't amazing ( an ex pub that is in dine ways homely). The drinks are a bit pricey, we had a set menu and the food was nice, and there were lots of it! We had tones to bring home with us. Some locals still sit in the main entrance / bar area .

Always great food delivered in a charismatic manner by the owners. Crispy chilli beef is excellent. The kids are always well looked after.The bar allows a decent drink to be had if waiting for a takeaway.

I love this Chinese restaurant, from the outside you would easily just dismiss it and drive on, it is an old converted pub but the bar is still in use at the front. Behind this however it is magical, hot fantastic food, a warm welcome and excellent service. Never eaten a bad meal here and have been several times. Highly recommend

Fantastic Chinese food in a family run restaurant.We have eaten here regularly as a couple and with the family. The food is great quality and there's plenty of it.The take away service is quick and efficient.

We live just down the road, normally have a take away, we eat in this evening. Most enjoyable the aromatic lamb was spot on, the garlic dressing (on the side), very garlicky, but who cares, not kissing anyone tonight ....

We took our eldest granddaughter for an 18th birthday treat (her favourite restaurant). It happened to be Chinese New Year. The staff were very friendly, and the food was fantastic although the restaurant is in an old pub and the building itself is looking a little tired.Would recommend it..

My take away from here was nice - hot, nice ingredients, decent size portion and fairly priced. The 3/5 hygiene rating on the front door out me off a bit! But by then it was too late. Having did this the food was nice and I would order a take away from here again as I am local

My husband and I called unexpectedly last night for a quick take away which we were able to eat outside on the tables provided. The man behind the bar who was serving drinks and taking orders was so friendly and accommodating. He said we could eat our take aways outside if we wanted. We weren't expecting our take aways to be served at the table on plates with forks included. Great service, excellent value and the food was very tasty. Disappointed that the tofu had ran out but both ordered vegetable based noodles which were delicious. Will definitely return there soon...for spicy tofu!

Several meals over the years both at the restaurant and take away. The food is good and the service excellent. The restaurant is friendly and attracts a regular clientele. Visiting family and friends often like to eat there or have a takeaway.

This was my first visit to the Magic Wok in Newport Pagnell with 4 family members.We all had such a good meal experience I felt the need to leave this review.The staff are very attentive and lovely, friendly people in general!For starter we shared the crispy duck which was the best I've ever had. For main we had a mixture of dishes, all amazing! The best I would recommend is the deep fried chilli beef, beef in black bean and lamb with garlic and soy sauce. The prices are reasonable and will definitely be getting all future Chinese takeaways from here also! Thank you!

Very nice food, a very lively restaurant / bar. Good service. Eaten here many times particularly like the Mixed meat noodle. Staff are very friendly, used heavily by the locals so has to be good.Downside, place needs a makeover.

had my first meal( in 19 years) at the Magic Wok and I have to say the food is still excellent the staff are very friendly the service is brilliant . Yes it is a little small but it is a very comfortable place to eat no rush and no pushing .

The Magic Wok is our favourite restaurant in Newport Pagnell. We eat there regularly about once a month. It has very friendly staff who know us and the food is always good. It is also only a ten minute walk from home.

Eat takeaways here occasionaly. Food is ok but is very salty or they use MSG. Had one with wife this Saturday and felt so dehydrated

Our party of 10 had a lovely evening at the Magic Wok. We have visited the restaurant on many occasions and have always been impressed by the food and service. It is one of the best Chinese meals I have had in the area, don't be put off by the old building, the food is the important thing and is always of a high standard. The staff are so friendly and really know how to make you feel truly welcome.

Having failed miserably to get any semblance of service at the . Parkside mercure I went to the magic wok. Tim and Alvin are masters when it comes to hospitality. The food was fantastic. It always is. Good beer too and friendly banter with the locals. A wonderful night

First time I'd had a meal here. Spur of the moment decision to go out to eat. Meal was excellent and value for money. Service could have been more prompt but there was a party of about 25 being served a the same time as us. Crispy duck and pancakes - yum.Very relaxed atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. Car park at rear so no need to park on the road.

First time eating in The Magic Wok for years, although we use it for takeaways from time to time, even though we now live the far side of MK. The food is that bit better served fresh compared to getting a takeaway, has to be the tastiest in the MK area. Crispy lamb with lemon & honey is to die for. Kids loved all the dishes as well, apart from the fussy one :/As it's a pub with separate (ish) dining areas, it's not exactly posh, but not too rowdy. I prefer it to the quiet, formal eating environments you can sometimes get at nice restaurants. We had a lovely relaxed meal thanks to Tim and his team,who are fantastic and really make you feel welcome. I also got some very helpful advice when choosing what to order.The Magic Wok is a little pricey, but I highly recommend eating in for the occasional treat. I hope we'll be back soon!

Pleasant local hang-out with a few tables and some comfy chairs for the bar patrons. Friendly owner and decent, if predictable food.

I liked the staff, very friendly and helpful, not intrusive. But seriously, for the price I expected better, at least in the presentation and options. Small fountain serving with 8 king prawns in black bean sauce on one side and a mountain of special fried rice on the other and a bottle of beer, that was it. Free prawn crackers and lucky biscuit, which was nice of them and this makes me feel better about the place . Filling, but not enough effort in the presentation of the dish to make me feel it was worth the price. There were no offers for solo customers, which I didn't like, I would have liked to have a slightly more expensive option of 2-3 dishes with rice, in separated servings to make it more restaurant like instead of feeling like a take-away dumped in a serving dish. The food was good, I just left feeling that at that price I would have done better just taking it as a take away rather than eating in a restaurant.

It's a shame about a lot of things here as it could be superb. We decided to give it a try after not being able to get a table at Vongs and was a little let down. The service is top class and couldn't be faulted in anyway and the food is utterly superb however we were in a tiny little room which held 4 tables and was in the midst of tacky music one side and football the other....now I'm not posh by any means but I don't expect to go out for a meal and to be listening to football and conversations about teams, had I wanted that I would have gone for cheap pub grub! The tables were covered in a paper tablecloth and the cutlery looked rather old....it really is such a shame as the food is amazing and it could be made to be a wonderful place. Unfortunately due to the atmosphere it will be Vongs for us every time :-(

A family group of 6 had a lovely time for my Granddaughter's 16th birthday treat. I had not visited this restaurant before but the food was good, as was the wine and drinks. we had ribs, crispy aromatic duck. beef in back bean sauce, and more. The staff were friendly and a very enjoyable evening was spent at a very reasonable cost. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed a Chinese meal so much.

This will upset my friends who will have nothing said against the MW, but.... The service, decor and ambience were excellant, but unfortunately I think that the chef must have shares in a monosodium glutomate company.

Well we didn't know where to go to celebrate my birthday,and we ended up here,walked through the door and our thoughts were what are we doing here....don't let this put you off.....what a gem....shown to the back room lovely set out table for the seven of us...you can not fault the food in here,best Chinese ever and the service is so so good and friendly they was sat at the table with us at one point...well we had a fantastic night in there and will be returning time and time again and we highly recommend to all...

Sort of a pub with a Chinese restaurant attached - directly opposite Aston-Martin's works.Really good food, friendly , helpful service and reasonable prices. We found this thanks to good reviews on TripAdvisor, and can only confirm that this restaurant is as good as people say it is!

I was staying in a hotel close to this restaurant with a group of seven colleagues. We decided to venture out for our evening meal and stumbled across the Magic Wok. From the outside it looked like an old pub which had been converted. The decor inside was predictable and uninspiring. This counted for nothing when greeted by the friendly waiter. Nothing was too much trouble and I could not fault the staff. When our food arrived we were all blown away. Our expectations were totally exceeded and several of the party commented that the food was the best Chinese food they had ever eaten.If ever I am back in the West Midlands I will go back for a follow up visit. You will not be disappointed.

Have been using the Wok once a week for many years, and apart from the occasional blip have enjoyed the food immensely. The prices may be a little higher than other local chinese restaurants but the size of the portions and the quality of the food more than makes up for it.I use it for take aways as well as in house and the service is always friendly and efficient.There's a full size room at the back and a smaller more intimate room beside the bar, screened off by glass doors - it's a pub as well so if you like you can order a meal and a pint and sit in the bar watching the tv.My favourites are the Singapore noodles, Mongolian lamb, and Sea spicy pork. The special chow mein has large prawns in it rather then the tiddlers used by other restaurants. They are happy to adjust a meal to taste and preference and always seem pleased to be of service.Tim- please don't ever retire!

Don't be put off by the layout, half pub half front room this is a good place to eat. Good service and food, not too expensive

I used to go here on a regular basis when I lived in the area, I returned in September and found the same fantastically frendley staff, great tasting dishes and warm atmosphere. I will be returning on December 16th for a birthday banquet.

The Magic Wok was a wonderful find for me and my husband after friends took us there last year, we have used it ,many times since when a chinese meal has been desired. When first going in, inital thoughts are the decor could be updated but that thought goes within minutes and you are almost guaranteed an amazing night! The food is fabulous, hot, tasty and delicious! The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful. I love the Magic Wok!!
