Ordered from this Chinese about 4/ 5 times. Food has always been lovely! 3rd time our order was messed up, we had items missing, called them and lady was so rude on the phone. No refund or redelivery. The food has always been good so we thought we would try them again, delivery no problem, really enjoyed our meal. Thought we would treat our self tonight, placed an order online like we always do, 10 minutes later we get a phone call saying we are too far away and our order has been cancelled. Explained we have had a delivery on at least 4 other occasions and apparently the driver has worked there for 5 years, he the only driver, has never been to our address and is refusing. Disgusting customer service.

This restaurant has astonishingly poor customer service. We had an order cancelled and my wife got called a liar because they said they do not deliver to our address and have "never delivered" to us, despite having ordered from there at least 5 times previously, with invoices and confirmation emails to prove it. A lady working there also shouted at my wife while she calmly stated an item was missing from our previous order. Really poor service and temperament from everyone we have dealt with. And let's be honest, even if the food is alright nobody wants to be spoken to like that. That is two separate, extremely poor experiences and we shall not bother ordering again. Perhaps your staff should undertake some basic customer service training.

food not fit for human consumption nothing but grease avoid at costs

Mongolian lamb was really tender, but no salad to accompany the pancakes. Salt & pepper king prawns were ok. But dry spaghetti trying to be passed off as egg noodles is absolutely wrong!!!! Won't be back again!

Just had a delivery from this place, most of the food was cold, pancake rolls greasy, chicken balls greasy, bbq ribs tasteless,spicy noodles had grease leaking from box , egg fried rice even tasted of grease, a total waste of money !l would never order from here again, and certainly wouldn’t recommend the food here.

Ordered aromatic Mongolian lamb and got strips of fatty skin, no cucumber strips and spring onion accompaniment as is standard for this type of meal. BBQ spare ribs were also fatty and covered in a thick overpowering jelly type sauce.

Awful food and extremely long wait to go with

If i could give 0 stars i would happily do so! Very upset with the service here, ordered a curry for my heavily pregnant fiance who has had the curry and now been vomiting for basically the last hour, it actually ended up being very severe food poisoning, they made her really ill and i have already reported then to trading standards, they took over 2 hours to deliver the food, they didnt bother using the intercom or even try letting us know they had attempted delivery and to top it all of they were extremley rude over the phone, swearing and shouting when we called to find out where the order was, i would never ever ever go here again and will spend as much time as possible making sure no one else does DO NOT GO HERE! THEY WILL MAKE YOU ILL!

Took our money 5 mins before they closed and then phoned to say they cant do order and money would be refunded but could take 3 - 5 Days. Really Poor Service would NEVER RECOMMEND

Have had quite a few takeaways and was always well impressed until the last couple and the spring rolls were disgusting and went in the bin.

cheap and large portions of ok tasting, kind of greasy chow mein. the lack of card payments is annoying

Ordered egg fried rice and a veg stir fry Both were bland. Will not be ordering from here again.

Nothing much to hype about. I didn't see or feel anything unique here. Whichever dishes i have tried repeatedly here, had the same taste each time. It was definitely good and satisfying...

The Best Hot and Sour Soup around!

Found two whole FINGERNAILS in my food. Stale prawn crackers, unedible greasy chow mein and very odd tasting spring rolls. Made a mistake spending my money on this one, we usually enjoy most Chinese takeaways in Southampton but we threw it all away. Only thing edible was the curry sauce, that tasted like it came from an ASDA smart price jar. Would not recommend, read Google reviews before trusting Just eat ones!

Very poor from the start. The prawn crackers were stale. All the dishes were coated with a thick brown sauce. The pork was full of bones and the beef was so tough it was inedible. The only good thing was the prawn toasts which I assume were bought in. Never again

This is the worst Chinese I have ever had , never had so much salt in one meal , I had hot and sour soup , it was neat vinegar, 2nd bbq spare ribs , hardly any meat and they were reheated, 3 rd I had garlic chicken, it was dry and so salty it went down the crapper , stay well away .TERRIBLE,,,,,,,

This place is terrible. Ordered the beef & black Bean sauce with egg fried rice & it was somehow cooked & boxed up in under 4 minutes while I waited. So the food isn't fresh & must be re heated. After 4 spoonfuls of it tasting awful I threw all the rest in the bin & still felt sick the next day. Don't ever eat here.

I have used this place for years. It has changed hands and sadly I will not be returning. Had to go collect my food from driver (never had to do this before) and now just opened up my order it is lukewarm and incorrect. Really disappointed as have used this same take away since I lived where I live....Have now eaten what I'm willing to eat and sadly alot going in the bin as it has a lack of taste/flavour. So disappointed! Such a shame. 10 years buying from same place and now going to have to find a new Chinese 😕😕

Ordered and got delivery within 45 mins. ..turned up either cold or lukewarm. Not impressed

We had takeaways from there and more than happy to return to magic chef best Chinese around Shirley *****

2nd best Chinese in Southampton very tasty food and good price

Meat was nasty, sauce tasted like something out of a jar from the ASDA Smart Price range, prawn crackers were stale and the oil tasted like it had gone off. It was cheap, but then you get what you pay for.

Magic Chef is by far the best Chinese takeaway in Shirley. The food is tasty, well-cooked, and always hot and fresh on arrival. With friendly staff (especially the delivery man), I find trouble in finding fault.
