Dined here on Hogmanay and had a superb meal, fresh delicious food served by friendly, efficient staff. Can't wait to return!

Absolute best place in town. Came in and the staff were so nice and welcoming. They were extremely attentive and sweet. The food came out and the portion sizes were massive and the food was absolutely delightful. The chicken was esspeically good. The whole vibe of the place wa brilliant as well.

Maggies Grill has been in Aberdeen for years, but I have just got round to trying it out. Me & a friend wanted a catch-up and where best to do than in Marischal Square. I would definitely recommend booking online as what caught me by surprise was the security guards on the door stopping us and asking if we had a reservation, but this could have been due to the nearby Christmas markets but not what you expect when arriving at a restaurant. All the staff were really friendly and down to earth, the restaurant itself is really open with plenty of seating and views around Marischal College or on our visit the Christmas Village. The menu is full of all your BBQ favourites, pulled brisket, dirty burgers, fully loaded fries and a wide variety of milkshakes, soft juice and alcohol. I did notice the prices were quite steep with most dishes being £16+ but all the food was served hot and fresh but I wasn't quite blown away by the whole BBQ taste that others had told me about. It could have been my choice of burger or poutine, but it all tasted good but not worth the hefty price tag of £20 for the burger, but that is my own opinion. If you are looking to try somewhere different in Aberdeen, Maggies is worth a shot!

American restaurant, signature fried chicken steak, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with sufficient portions of beef burgers.

The platter is not recommended. The ribs are overcooked and the meat has no juice. The fries are delicious.

Texan fried chicken has flap doughy parts, chips are frozen not hand cut, and cornbread is dry. Server asked for feedback but didn’t really want to hear any. Overrated.

Was in for Christmas lunch with folks from work. My first time but definitely will be back as I loved the food!! Huge portions and very tasty! Had nachos howling wolf shared starter and seriously yummy 😋 4 people easily would be happy to share. Main was Texas fried chicken with garlic and bbq sauces, coleslaw, skin on chips and piece of delicious corn bread. Shared dessert as well as was stuffed but couldn't resist delicious cheesecake with cherries and ice cream. Friendly and very kind staff thar looked after one of our friends that is vegan, he was very happy with his food 😀 Thank you and will be going back for sure 👌Recommend 100%

We had the 2 person BBQ sharing platter and honestly it was some of the best American food I've ever had (and I've had really good stuff in the US). I can't recommend it highly enough, my only suggestion to the manager would be to buy in some root beer.

One of my favourite restaurants in Aberdeen. huge portion sizes, delicious food cooked and seasoned to perfection. Excellent service and the place has a good atmosphere and feel to it.

Everything was good, steak was cooked perfectly and didnt need any extra seasoning, chicken was good too, all food delivered piping hot, thanks, im sure i will visit again

My partner is gluten intolerant and the manager Richard could not have been more informed and knowledgeable. The food, service, drinks and atmosphere were great. 10/10 will 100% return.

I have ordered american steak. It was just ok, nothing special, you would do better at home. The place is very noisy inside, people talk too loud. Felt like in the bar, not like in restaurant. In the past I had pulled pork burger and that was amazing though.

I should definitely talk to immigration... This store is a reason to live here! With my buddies we treated ourselves to the nachos with Wolf's Chilli as a starter. Absolutely suitable for 2 people, the sharing menu would probably be designed for up to 6 people (tip from the waitress). The main course was the BBQ Sharing Feast, it was literally a feast! Chicken, fine pieces of meat spareribs, pulled pork, two sausages and two side dishes of your choice, the whole thing is just too good! Also Draft Bear and milkshakes fantastic. If you're hungry and looking for a great atmosphere, you'll get your money's worth here and get exactly the right meal from the friendly staff.

A somewhat underwhelming experience, especially the burger. The loaded fries with brisket were nice and the service friendly and efficient but we didn't feel like the high price was quite worth it.

Top decor and atmosphere, but menu a little misleading: there is a "burgers" category, and another with a dish with meat, a brioche etc. but it's a pulled beef burger, just in the wrong category . The dessert is extremely hearty, be careful +: open kitchen even in the middle of the afternoon

Great place for lunch. Good beer and "American" style food. The dining decor is Creole and New Orleans. Enjoyed the salad and gluten free options.

Lovely lunch, excellent quality and large portion of a cheese burger, fries and side of coleslaw. My table looked out onto Marischal College. The staff were kind in giving some "juice" to my mobile phone too, by charging it in the office. Thank you !

Love this restaurant. They do the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Always a hit with my friend group. The portions are very large and desserts are great too. Staff are lovely and very helpful.

Met Richard (proprietor and chef) whilst out cycling. Lovely guy who took the time to explain gluten free options. Went there today and again Richard was extremely helpful ensuring my meal was gluten free. Ribs with bourbon sauce and a bucket of coleslaw that I could not finish (perhaps he gave me the table behind me’s share too!). Food is excellent, rubs piping hot and fell off the bone, no need for a knife (or fork really) so fingers it was. Portions are huge and my husband couldn’t finish his triple stack burger. That’s our miller & carter days over. Maggie’s grill all the way. Thank you Richard, you and your staff are next level.

Well what a fabulous recommendation from work colleagues of my husbands. Everything was wonderful from the staff two the food along with the meals sic and atmosphere.

Good selection of beers and tasty filling food. I had the gumbo to start then the brisket bun. The knife provided did not cut through cleanly and it could have been sharper. The service was quick and helpful.

The gumbo! I'm from Louisiana (a bit west of NoLa) and I was skeptical, but the gumbo was incredible. Quite possibly the best gumbo I've had outside of Louisiana and Texas. This includes when I make it myself. Good flavor, consistency, spice, color, and ingredients. It was advertised as chicken and andouille; the andouille delivered! It was coarse, the edges frayed up, and had deep spice. It was clearly not your typical super processed smoked sausage. My sister (also raised in Louisiana) completely agreed. We even got an extra plate of just the andouille after tasting it in the gumbo. The gumbo is absolutely the real deal. Okay so now that I've raved about the gumbo, let me get to the overall review. We also had the country fried chicken and the New Orleans Cajun fish fry, Cajun buttered corn on the cob. Everything was good, and the portions were extremely generous. I wasn't impressed with the corn, it was good, but not overly buttery nor spiced the way I'm used to, but the portions were very generous. The fish was good but didn't ring out Cajun either. The chicken was huge, and extremely tender. The jalapeno cornbread was okay as well, but was a bit more like cake than gritty cornbread. Overall it was great, service was good as well. I would definitely recommend. And PLEASE try the gumbo.

Had lunch with my son and it was safe to say that it was oot all it is cracked up to be. Our side of coleslaw arrives 10 minutes before our fries and then we had to wait another 10 Minutes for the burgers to arrive at our table. The burger looked and smelled really good, but unfortunately that is where it ended. My teenage son is a burger connoisseur and he was enjoying the burnt pork ends that came with the burger, but that was it. He said the burger has no taste or seasoning and the pulled pork on it was very chewy and hard to chew let alone swallow. My burger was a simple cheeseburger and I think I managed maybe 3 bites before I was off with how soggy it had gotten. The beer wasn’t all that either and greatly lacked the usual. The noise levels were very loud and made the whole experience even more unenjoyable. This place would probably benefits from having some booths installed to help with the noise for sure as not being able to hear yourself think or even have a simple conversation with your lunch guests is very disappointing.

Cracking soul food. Country fried chicken is my absolute fave - and the cheese and jalapeño cornbread that comes with it is amazing, too.

Good vibes and good flavour. The gumbo was excellent and portion size was generous. Had the ribs which were fall off the bone tender and succulent, and arguably better than miller and carter which is quite impressive itself. Will definitely come back again.

To be honest this is one of the worst barbecue restaurants I have ever been to the food was cold and tasteless seem to be the staff were unfriendly and rude but I could have accepted the bad customer service if the food was half decent but I am not exaggerating when I say the food was disgusting.

My family's favourite place to eat in Aberdeen. It just cannot be beaten. We have tried several dishes during our visits and every one that we have tried so far is highly recommended. In the most recent we had the 1/4 brisket bun, macaroni with brisket, one of the burgers, and the salad with steak topping. As alwaysl we left with empty plates, full bellies and happy faces.

Was very non plussed by this place after hearing good things about it. Hard to say anything negative but there was certainly nothing positive either. The ribs were mostly just fat so I'd avoid those but on the other hand, the chicken wings were a stand out!

It was great to squeeze in a visit to Maggie's while back in Aberdeen and introduce it to some family members. They all loved the food. I went for the express lunch menu and the chicken wings. Their kids burger and hot dog went down a treat. The ranch salad with southern fried chicken was the best dish of the lot. Service was great as always.

Tasty food, generous servings, efficient and professional service. Can’t fault anything during my visit and would recommend to anyone. Had the brisket bun and it honestly felt like great value considering the included sides too. Was not expecting to find somewhere like this during my visit to Aberdeen. Never had American/Southern BBQ in the UK and probably would have expected a place like this only in London.

The food was amazing. The bbq sauce was amazing too. The burgers were juicy and well seasoned. The seasoning/buttermilk coating on the chicken was amazing. The staff were accommodating however did take a while to be served. Would visit again.

My wife and I went in with our kids on Thursday night for a celebration dinner. Service was prompt and the young American gentleman that served us was chatty, knowledgeable, and very polite. Portions were massive but delicious and somehow we still managed to share a dessert! Atmosphere was great as well! Really pleased with our experience. Five stars all around.

A nice resto located right opposite Marsichal Collegs. The atmosphere was great, staff were terrific. So friendly. The food was piping hot and ahh-mazing and the drinks were so good. I definitely would recommend the Texan Fried Chicken which comes with a side of coleslaw, corn on the cob, cornbread and fries. Make sure you have a reservation to avoid any wait times during service.

Perfect in every way. Warmth of welcome, outstanding service, great atmosphere. Then, there is the amazing food - cooked and presented to perfection. This is a team that clearly cares about what they d0 and what they do, they do really really well. Despite being packed out on a Tuesday evening the servers were super friendly, attentive and made you feel special. This is VERY unusual in the UK. Cannot recommend this place. 6 Stars. Only criticism was finding the entrance :-)

Excellent experience here! Our server was really friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere of the place for 7pm on a Tuesday might was very lively and jsut great. We were looking forward to our meal even more when we saw how busy it was compared to other places around. I'd definitely recommend booking. I had the texan friend chicken and a biscoff milkshake. The house-made coating on the chicken was crispy yet melted in the mouth, and a generous portion size. Chips piping hot and the cajun green beans were very fresh. Biscoff milkshake was packed full of flavour. It's clear to see why this place is so popular! Highly recommended.

What a great find this place was.We were looking for something a little bit different and stumbled upon this quirky place.The service was great,the decor was pretty cool also.The food.....FANTASTIC,my only grumble AND I can't believe I'm saying this but the portion sizes are a little on the BIG side,that said it doesn't lack in quality at all.Definately a cool place, well worth a visit.One piece of advice ask for Lots of Napkins coz your going to get messy(in a good way)I can still taste the BBQ ribs.Thanks for a great evening

Good food and service. We had a sharing BBQ feast. The absolute best were their sausages, followed by some very tender currants. Their BBQ was a bit impersonal with not bad. We would have preferred that the sauce and pulled pork had been separate, as the sauce took over the taste. (Slightly the same with the brisket) Good wings. A bit expensive, but you also get a lot of meat. Good fries, their salad was ok, but could have been more specified on the menu, in relation to allergens.

We visited on Friday and the place was really busy so I definitely recommend booking ahead, as we did. The Southern Fried Chicken Tenders, with the sweet and spicy glaze, are out of this world and so good we ordered another portion to go with our mains! Smoked wings also very good. Our main courses were outstanding. The Texan Fried Chicken is enormous, but every morsel happily eaten, Maggies Country Fried Chicken “amazing “ and the Mac and Cheese with pulled pork the “very best” hubby’s ever eaten. We then made our way to desserts and were sharing Keylime pie (although I’ve heard it can’t be called Key Lime unless the limes are from Key West Florida) and Vanilla and Biscoff cheesecake. Both delicious. Serving staff, although very busy, arrived at the table every time with a smile. Definitely well worth our two hour round trip to get to, we all really enjoyed the evening and will return - next time for Gumbo and Ribs (and those amazing Chicken Tenders!)

As usual the food was great with big portions and staff are really helpful, unfortunately the non alcoholic bud tasted awful so won’t have that again, but that’s not the restaurants fault, although we all preferred the Holborn venue which had a great atmosphere we will return here in the near future

We were here on a Saturday night and had booked. This was fortunate as I do not think it was possible to turn up and get a table. Our waitress was very pleasant and provided good service. Good choice of drinks, particularly like the Black Isle Helles lager. Our mains were the Howlin' Wolf Chilli and the Ribs, which were special of the day, with a BBQ sauce with mustard and apple. These were delicious and the portions were great. We had a dessert, though bordering on full, after the mains. Both the Biscoff cheesecake and pecan pie were also really good. We'd definitely come back here.

This restaurant is incredible! The burgers are really good, even delicious. I recommend the NYC one or the one with pulled pork. Positive point you can choose your meat between: chicken and steak. The quantities are more than sufficient and the size of the hamburgers are very large.

Place is in the south United States style. Food was ok, not great Brisket was not traditional brisket Coleslaw salad was with too much mayo Fried potato’s- too fried Presentation of the food was a several bowls, not easy to eat in that way.

Went for Easter Sunday family lunch. Waitress let us taste the chilli before we committed to ordering. Couldn't stop laughing in surprise at the size of the portions! The sharing platter of Nachos was enormous and delicious. We got salsa on the side due to an allergy in the party. Main courses were amazing. The chilli bowl, we approved, was huge and my daughter ended up taking half of it home. On the pricey side but portions were huge. Didn't ask if the did half portions but will when I go back! Lovely service.

Been a regular of visiting Maggies for years. It is easily one of the best restaurants in Aberdeen, serving up some awesome BBQ food and nachos. The portion sizes are fantastic and will leave you filled to the brim. The staff are always really helpful and friendly.

I do the odd journey to Aberdeen for work and prior to my first trip, a few people recommended Maggie's Grill to me. I have been maybe 4 times now and it's been incredible every time. The food prices are reasonable. The service has always been efficient and friendly. I never shut about Maggie's when I'm talking about places to eat with colleagues.

Recently tried for the first time. Had Texan chicken which was really good. Son had the stack burger which was piled so high he didn’t know where to start eating it, and the howling wolf chilli came in a bowl bigger than my head! Couldn’t finish the food but asked for boxes to take leftovers home. Only gripe was burgers don’t come with any sides and you have to pay extra for chips. Staff friendly and attentive. Look forward to returning.

Had a really nice meal for a man date with my work bestie, we wanted something memorable and tasty and that's exactly what we got, only thing I didn't get was that the burgers came by themselves and you had to add fries(small gripe, no big deal), the food was incredible and definitely full of soul Hopefully we will have another chance soon to have a bromantic food encounter

Me and my partner came to maggies grill for the first time heavily underwhelmed fried chicken was grainy like it had been sat In Oil, the cornbread frankly just missed the mark dense non crumbly The bbq beans had a good taste and the fries where decent maybe my expectations where too high from all the rave reviews but just overall a little to much hype for a SOULLESS SOUL FOOD SOUTHERN BBQ SPOT service was fast and polite tho so that’s a positive to take away from the experience

Outstanding food as always. Was surprised to find on receipt of bill that cost of a burger does not include any fries (all other mains we ordered did include fries). As regular customers this was a surprise to find an additional £3.95 on our bill - on all previous visits this has never been a thing. After pointing out to our waitress this was removed with no fuss.

Our favourite restaurant! The food is always excellent, and the staff ard really nice. The wine is getting pricy though. A point is deducted because the place was just sooo cold today. I don’t really like having a nice meal with my coat and scarf on. I hope that isn’t the way it’s going to be now!

Last time we couldn’t get a table - now we understand why. Book early and you will willingly submit yourself to major meat-sweats and a food coma that’ll last a couple of days. We had the butchers board with a side of fries between the two of us and couldn’t finish it. Also ordered a rum-cherry coke float which made me feel like I was Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. The quality of everything was just insane! Will be back but won’t have breakfast or lunch in preparation.

Amazing food as always, took relatives from Edinburgh for a meal and they absolutely loved it. Great menu choices and huge portions, all served by friendly staff. Can't wait for our next visit.
