Maggie's Bar & Kitchen in East Ayrshire

Dropped in on a Friday night for an unplanned dinner. Place was clean, people were attentive, food was great. Will now consider this every time we're going out.

Great atmosphere and staff, fantastic that it's dog friendly and you can take them inside. Staff were so kind and welcoming. I will 100% be back. They have some GF options on the menu which is fantastic meant to see if they did more like GF bread but forgot to.

MY FIRST VISIT TODAY WITH A FRIEND AT 2PM. FRIEND ORDERED HADDOCK AND CHIPS AND I STEAK PIE, BUT TO BE THEN TOLD THERE'S NO STEAK PIE NOR LASAGNE (THINKING THAT'S A BIT EARLY TO RUN OUT GIVEN IT WAS ONLY 2PM) I PROCEEDED TO ORDER CAJUN CHICKEN CREPES THAT COME WITH A SIDE SALAD. AS I DIDN'T WANT CHIPS I ASKED IF COULD HAVE EXTRA SALAD. WOW! WHEN IT ATTIVED THERE WAS ONLY ONE SMALL CREPE ONLY 5 INCHES LONG WITH 4 SMALLISH DRY PIECES OF CHICKEN AND HANDFUL OF SLICED PEPPERS AND A HANDFUL OF GREEN AND PURPLE SALAD LEAVES. THAT'S IT. I COMPLAINED TO WAITRESS SAYING I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY, QUANTITY AND WHAT THEY CONSIDER A "SALAD" TO BE TOLD SHE'D TELL THE CHEF. UPON PAYING THERE WAS NO APOLOGY OR EXPLANATION AND WAS CHARGED £11.25. THEY CLEARLY DIDN'T CARE. TO SAY I WAS SHOCKED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NOT BE BACK. FIRST VISIT......LAST VISIT

Hubby and I just had another delicious meal here. The staff were fab, they all had a wee friendly chat with us as they served our meals, it just just felt so casual and relaxed which is just what we both love. Just perfect!

Went for Lunch and were presented with a menu that gave a wide range of foods that also catered for Gluten Free as well a Vegan eaters. All opted for main courses ranging from Cajun Crepes, Steak Pie and Salmon dishes. All agreed that the quality of food was very good and all served piping hot with more than adequate portions. Staff were very helpful answering queries around the Gluten Free options and were quick to assist when required. The desserts were also to a high standard with Sticky Toffee pudding being chosen alongside the special of the day, Maltteaser Cheese Cake. The service was very good and the surroundings were bright and cheerful. Toilets were also clean and well looked after, all in all a realy pleasant lunch time experience and will certainly look to revisit. The cost for all four plus a drin was under £80, good value for the money. If looking for a pleasant luuch time experience, I am sure maggies will give you a warm welcome.

We’ve been regulars for over 5 years to Maggies, where we meet up with family and friends. Kim and her staff are first class, always welcoming and providing good service. Breakfast menu offers a good choice with a flexible Scottish breakfast option available too. If you’re in Kilmarnock and just wanting a coffee and cake or even something stronger, Maggies is definitely worth a visit.

We were traveling across Scotland and we called in on a Friday mid day and the restaurant was very quiet. We were told to sit at the table at the main area. And when we asked could we sit on the other table, we were told a blanck NO as they had a lot of bookings coming in. And hour later when we finished our meal, there was a grand total of 2 more people in the restaurant. When paying we asked the lovely manager why we couldn't pick a different table. And the same 2 rude waitresses didn't even let him answer. They were more interested in doing them makeup and fixing there hair in the mirror in the middle of the restaurant, than making costumes welcomed. I would come back, because the food was OK and I would look forward to giving these 2 "waitresses" a lesson in hospitality etiquette.

I know the girl in question who had booked here for her baby shower. She was a regular visitor to Maggies. They have lost a very good and loyal customer. Shocking how she was treated! I for one will not be back!

My daughters booked here for her baby shower. When she spoke to someone on the phone before booking she was quoted £6.50 a head for buffet, we’re now just over a week away and they’ve increased to £10 a head and said she should have been told it was FROM 6.50, we were never told this, so we asked to change venue to upstairs so we could do our own buffet, we were told this was unavailable on that day, my daughter then said she’d phone to discuss it with them, only to be told that there was nothing else to discuss and that they’d cancelled her booking. So we’re just over a week away and left with no venue, customer service is absolutely appalling and in fact we tried several times to get through to them with no response, I’d recommend any one booking an event here to think of somewhere else 👎

This was my first time here. The food was amazing. You certainly won't be disappointed on that front. My wife and I went for their lunch menu. They had a decent selection of things to try and a special lunchtime deal for 2 courses too. I had the soup which was fantastic. Soooo tasty! It could have been a little warmer, but that's only the way I like it. Others would probably have loved it the way it was. For my main I had the steak pie. Everything about it was delicious. The veggies were cooked to perfection as was everything else. Good sized portion too. My only criticism was that the wait between our starter and main was FAR too long. Others that arrived after us were getting their main courses served and we were still waiting! All in all it was fantastic and we will be back for sure. Highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere to eat at lunchtime.

If good manners, courtesy, decency, common sense and intellect were a disease, Maggies owners would be the healthiest people alive. Police called again and Kilmarnock standard. Blocking a road in and out is extremely ignorant, selfish, thoughtless and foolish. 7/8/24 Waited 40 mins to get out. Ignorance at its 100% best. Bullies never win. Your lower than a toilet in a submarine David 🤣

We had a lovely meal tonight it was my friends special birthday plus we had small child with us. Staff were brilliant nothing was a problem be back. Worth the visit 👍

Amazing food very attentive staff.

I think we were expecting too much, not good at all. The obnoxious minion with the oversized head who i think was the boss has people skills of a slug. Food cold, place was cold and toilets were blocked. A smile and a thank you costs nothing !

Food was excellent, we had the £12.95 special menu , recommend the Cajun chicken crepes with chips and sticky Chicken with dip, salad and boiled rice. Sticky toffee pudding and Berry crumble with custard . All delicious. Definitely will return . Service was a wee bit slow but we weren't in a hurry. Staff polite and friendly

Disappointed on today's visit. One person on at 915am. Waited about 10mins to be seated. Breakfast was cold. Never had an negative experience. Always been one of my favourites.

Great value for money. Had lunch of salt n chilli prawns. Very week prepared and plenty of them. Biggest recommendation I can give is that I will be back

Heard loads of great reviews about Maggies bar/ kitchen. First time I had been and was not disappointed. Food was delicious (100% recommend the goats cheese to start)and service also you couldn't fault. Please if you are in Kilmarnock area give it a try. Totally recommend...x

Pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food here on my first visit. Would say the desserts are overpriced, but the rest of the menu was fair.

Only popped in for coffee, but no cakes, biscuits or pastry.

Food and cocktails were amazing no complaints from anyone in my party and the ambience was lovely. Experience was let down but some staff members attitudes though, a lot of face pulling and eye rolling behind customers back yet still in full view of other patrons disappointing to see.

Beautiful inside!! Staff are very friendly, with excellent customer service. Went with my son for lunch. Defenetly recommend cream of vegetable soup, and the Tempura was lovely. Car parking is a bit of a knightmare, though. So if you book a table and drive,leave earlier to find a parking space. Made my coffee the way I like it, extra hot 🔥 which us defenetly a bonus!

I attended a babyshower there and the meals had been pre ordered the week before and they still didnt get them right, several people sent undercooked chicken back.. and i noticed out of a party of 16 most folk didnt finish their food... biggesr complaint was the food was cold... it was recommended to us but i cant recommend it.

We hired the Glencairn Suite for my 50th Birthday and the staff were amazing, venue was awesome. Highly recommend.

Met with a few friends (did not book just turned up) for Brunch, order mainly filled rolls and hot drinks. Lovely surroundings, clean and modern. Friendly staff but Service needs addressing. When we eventually got order taken, hot drinks came one at a time, drinks finished by the time we had food order taken. Food was nice when it did arrive but the whole process was too slow.

Fant lunch, not too big a plate full for use ladies, may not be for a man, but it was lunch time.

Food and cocktails were absolutely excellent, couldn't fault it at all. Had the burger with the assorted meats on it and it was well cooked and wonderfully presented. The cocktails were a-plenty and all tasted great. Wouldn't hesitate to come back

Waited half an hour for our starter then another 40 mins for our main course. We were supposed to get 2 courses for something like 12.95 or there abouts and we never got that deal. We had our daughter with us who is 3 years old and she was getting really fed up. The food is good but the wait was just too long. That's the second time this has happened and I've only been in 3 times .

Let me start with the food was amazing, prices great 👍!!!! However...we were told when we went in there was 5 mins left to order off the breakfast menu but could order off the lunch menu in 10 mins. We waited and waited oh and waited! Finally placed out our order for our drinks which we had finished by the time the starters actually arrived (1 hour 20 mins from we were sat down to the starters came!) Advised the girl that I had an appointment while we waited on our mains. 10 mins before my appointment our mains finally came!. Was a mad rush and had to ask for it to take away. By then my husband was scunnered and just left his! Due to this we wouldn't return it was embarrassing to say the least to have to walk out with a takeaway box that had been on a plate on the middle of the restaurant! All in all 2 hours 15 mins is ridiculous. Complements to the chef for the tasty food though. More staff needed 2 front of house is not enough.

Always a nice meal at maggies and can usually squeeze you in for a seat if you call. The lasagne and crepes are the dishes that you must try !

First time at Maggies as we were in Kilmarnock for other reasons. Young girl that met us booked us on a table for some reason then asked for my husbands full name and phone number?? We thought unnecessarily! Waited 25 for starters which were very good! And another half hour for mains! Food was good but had to wait we thought long time for service! Don’t know how big kitchen is but service not great! A real shame as people will wait for good food but need more staff guys! And some staff training would be a good idea too!!

Had a really small family baby shower today for my sister.. and was really blown away with the attention to detail from the staff! We only booked a table for 7, but ended up with a private table through the back, with candles and extra space for gifts etc. I was quite blown away with how lovely the girls were today , they couldn't have been more helpful if they tried . The food and table service was amazing, and there was no rush to leave either. Thanks for going above and beyond for us 💓 we will all definitely be back 💓

Went on Christmas Eve food was below average, festive menu was poor and the turkey dinner was awful, it was swimming in gravy which should have been in a separate pot so to add yourself. Pricey for what it was.

Very slow service, drink order mistakes and a meal sent back. Poor review however previously always been good so was probably just a bad day. Always worth a try for your own review

Went to Maggies 18/12/2022 for our wee annual girls Christmas lunch with my sister, gran and cousin. This is the first time I've been to Maggies but it won't be the last. The food was absolutely delicious, the festive menu was an absolute bargain so I had to go for 3 courses but there was no scrimping on portions or taste. The only issue I had was choosing one item from each course. We had come cocktails too at the end of our meal and went for the Christmas ones. They mistakenly made the wrong cocktail for one of our drinks and we said it was fine, we'd still take it and pay for it. They made us the drink we wanted and gave us the wrong cocktail on the house, which I thought was really nice of them - I've been to places where they've binned it rather than give it to the customer FOC. The staff really made the day, however. They were attentive, fun, extremely polite and professional and they really made my wee gran's day, taking pictures for us and having some laughs and banter. I'll definitely be back again and soon!!

Time we all had to wait for food was not good, and I did not finish my meal as it was bland, was cold where we were all sitting, music was a bit loud and other noise made it difficult to hear conversation, staff did not remember to take deposit off from the bill. After pre-ordering meals, and all the effort put into it, and my experience tonight, I will not be back!

Booked table for Saturday at 17.00 arrived on time and was taken to a table we were asked what we would like to drink which was fine. After about 15 minutes we had to ask for someone to take our order. We ordered two starters and two mains the starter eventually came at 18.00 (1hour after arriving) we ate the starter which was nothing great and at 18.20 we asked the waitress when would we get our main meal to which she replied the kitchen is running late and another table with about 8 people was to get served first. At this point as we were going to a concert we said we would have to leave. So after one and a half hours we received a starter and two drinks and they had the cheek to charge £26.00 so if you are looking for a nice meal that will not take all night DO NOT go near this place.

Staff were amazing. Brought a drink and a small plate for my wee boy's pikachu teddy so he could eat with us too. Food was lovely. Fresh and really tasty.

Very nice breakfasts with loads of choice including vegetarian options. Tea could be a bit warmer but overall nice food a bit pricey with friendly staff. Menus could do with a clean as could the next table , chairs & floor .Only downer nothing to do with venue was misbehaving brats at a few of the tables. Come on parents some people want a nice quiet breakfast , not to listen to your misbehaving rude children.

First time here with a friend. Good food. Plenty of choice. Apple crumble and cream to die for, as was the latte. Asked for extra hot and that is exactly what I got. Reasonably priced. Cannot fault it and will definitely return.

Really really really slow service, we booked and had to wait one hour and a half, the excuse was they had check and a lot of people which they lied since it was half empty. It's not the first time this has happened but surely it will be the last time we will go there.
