The handmade fresh pasta was delicious. What let the food down was the sauce. We had carbonara, ragu and the zucchini special. The carbonara was far too wet/saucy with what appeared to be a lack of Parmigiano. After eating there was a pool of creamy liquid in the pasta bowl. Carbonara shouldn't be made like this. The ragu was OK and the zucchini was the best of the bunch but even this was just too saucy, with pooled sauce left over after all the pasta was gone. Personally I could have liked a little more salt in the pasta but that may be personal preference. Tiramisu was also pretty good but portion was half the size it should have been. A minor improvement would be a tiny bit more coffee and alcohol. Otherwise it was top quartile.

We had the best meal at Magari! We were a large booking in for some celebrations. The food was all fresh and tasty, loved the anchovy bruschetta and the ragu was super flavourful. Service was fab too. Thank you for making our evening so special!

I stopped for dinner at Magari whilst visiting Bristol. Although it was nice and very well priced, I did find the portion a little small and service was somewhat rushed. The pasta itself was very tasty and always scores extra marks when it’s homemade - and the sauce had a great depth of flavour. The restaurant was very small but had a nice atmosphere, and was clearly popular with take away orders too. Overall, it was a nice spot for some delicious pasta.

The weekday set pasta lunch was a good value for money meal. The service was impeccable and the pasta was delicious with a decent portion to fill up the stomach. The bruschetta starter was a great way to start the meal.

Incredible pasta and amazing service! Go support these guys and get the tiramisu.

Came along with my boyfriend yesterday. The staff are really kind and welcoming which you don't often get anymore - they did the small independent place lots of justice. Food was great, well-priced with a cosy atmosphere - will be back fo sho.

A breath of fresh air for Bristol. An amazing space, great service, and affordable good food. While the ragú was somewhat underwhelming, due to a lack of flavour and sauce, their Amatriciana packed a punch, even if the pasta could have done with an extra minute or two of cooking. Great spot for couples and small groups (max 3). Will definitely be returning.

Had the most amazing time here with my family for my graduation day! My sister had organised (all the way from Australia) for a bottle for the table and the staff were so helpful and so lovely the entire time (Especially Daniela) food was also absolutely amazing and overall had a really delightful time! A very cosy place to go for lunch on a rainy day, the food was absolutely delicious and appropriately followed by tiramisu which was also heavenly. The staff were lovely, we will be back☺️

The special pasta of fried courgettes, ‘Sussex Charmer’ cheese, mint oil, lemon, and breadcrumbs was fantastic. The portion was huge and it was only £12.50 - excellent value. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Bristol!

Booked this place for a late lunch on a Tuesday (it fills up fast because there are only about 10-15 seats inside) but they were able to fit us in for an earlier walk-in option. They do have unreserved outdoor tables too. First up, the staff were incredible. Our waitress was very friendly and kind, even though we arrived just as they opened. They were having a bit of trouble with their pasta machine and offered us a free starter for the wait - honestly, we would have happily waited as it wasn't too long, but the bruschetta was amazing. Then our pasta dishes arrived, and I honestly couldn't fault them. Gorgeous ragu with a lovely hint of fennel, and a carbonara with the tastiest bacon. I also ordered the house lemonade and after raving about it to the waitress, she gave me the recipe! I've yet to try making it, but ohhh if it comes out even half as good it'll be my go-to summer drink, for sure. Would HIGHLY recommend this place. Affordable, tasty food with excellent service.

Small but mighty! Awesome, unassuming and authentic. This place has it all. Managed to get a walk-in table and how lucky we were! Knowledgeable but unpretentious service and great food. Love the Italian concept of sourcing locally and adapting recipes to what’s available. Had the special with courgette and orange zest and the ragu. I’ll be back - fantastic job folks!

Such a great place!! Me and my mum came here for lunch and sat outside, though the tables inside looked lovely and cozy as well. We shared three pastas between us and they were all incredible. I am already dying to come back and try the rest of the menu (and the tiramisu!) The service was amazing and so friendly (I believe his name was Anthony!). Super accommodating when we were running a bit late and just really lovely, helpful and cheerful. Will be back!!!

Wow! Back to Roma! Me and my partner have been desperately trying to find Italy in Bristol, since returning from a Mega Italian Adventure a few months ago. We have so far failed to find an authentic Italian in Bristol, until Magari! Homely, fresh and beautifully simplistic. Will be back very soon.

Great authentic pasta that tasted amazing. Good atmosphere and beautiful sitting outside in the sun. Server was very attentive. Had a lovely meal here. Great value for money!

I had to ask menus and order by myself ! The table was dirty, they didn’t clean it ! After 25mn I have to ask again for the drinks: the waitress just brought 2 instead of 3 ! Took 45mn to get our food : I had to yell for that !! The food is good ! Shame on the waitress who ruined our experience : she doesn’t manage anything and she hid herself when I called her with her young colleague !

Great food, lovely staff. Tiny place so tables are very tightly packed. Eat outside if the weather permits. Great value, 2 bruschette, 2 pasta, 2 drinks and only £30.

Magari is a gem of a place at Cargo. Had lunch there with two friends . We ate inside which was cosy. The bruschetta, ragu and pomodoro pasta were excellent and very good value for money. Staff were super friendly too. Really looking forward to another visit soon.

Wonderful lunch! Really delicious food and the service was terrific. The only thing is that the ‘sharing’ bruschetta is certainly not big enough for sharing (1 piece of sourdough). However it was delicious.

Such a lovely place! We got the ragu pasta and it was so worth the visit. It was our first time here and the staff were very friendly and made sure we liked our food. Not only that but, the store in general is so aesthetically pleasing. Definitely didn't disappoint.

Food was so tasty, its a small menu but all the dishes pictured were amazing. We had burrata (shared), wagu pasta, shiitake mushroom pasta and salted caramel tiramisu (shared). Venue was cute but limited space, luckily we booked as got busy quickly. Serving staff were lovely! The lunch saving made an already reasonable price even better, would highly recommend.

Oh. My. God. Best bruschetta I’ve ever had. Incredible. Very lovely interior - an amazing little spot to find. Main flaws were the pasta dishes as both pasta types felt very thick and undercooked. Shame as most people don’t seem to have this issue. Personally cannot recommend the ragu, as not enough sauce and also wish the carbonara had more bacon as noted in other reviews. Tiramisu was ok, pretty average. Bottom of it a bit too soggy and personally for me bit too much alcohol. Not the best tiramisu I’ve had in Bristol - and there are lots of amazing ones! Finally, wish there was WiFi as no service inside the container (does make people chat!)

We had an extremely enjoyable time celebrating our anniversary here. The pasta was incredible and felt like proper, authentic Italian. It was definitely the best I've had! The staff were so kind and friendly and even offered us a complimentary starter! The lunch deal also made it great value for money. We will 100% be coming back!

Want to share a review of the way my booking was dealt with ( Sunday17th March) Booked and was put on the waiting list I waited for a response from them even though it states on there booking page please kindly let us us know if your not going to turn up Turned up at Magari just after two and was told that the kitchen couldn’t deal with any more covers ? Why was this as it stipulates your open from 12 -4 on a Sunday There were seats outside but why was this so ? Please let me know Let down by the poor unprofessional approach to this matter Won’t be booking a table here anymore Why is it that on Sundays you understaff yourselves so much ? This happened to me a couple of months ago as well

Absolutely adored this charming spot! The food, though simple, was incredibly flavorful - especially the sourdough bread with dried tomatoes, a true delight! Ps: For those curious about the tomato source, check out the brand in the picture below. The Terriono white wine was fantastic as well. Not to be missed is the traditional and delicious sausage ragu. Shiitake mushroom pasta had tasty mushrooms but was a tad dry; perhaps a touch more sauce would elevate it. Still, a solid 10/10 recommendation for sure!

went at opening time it was quiet and we were served very quickly. We ordered the ragu and carbonara, both were delicious, my only qualm would be that the pasta was slightly too al dente for my liking. Would also recommend the tiramisu!

Visited 18/01/2024 Had a three-way with all the Bruschettas. The semi-dried tomato and basil must have descended from the heavens, as it ascended above and beyond the other two, which were both great themselves. Service was second to none and the chefs recommendation was unerring and exactly what I had desired. The place is slightly restricted on space and swiftly swelled with custom during our time there. The chef handled the sudden rush with all the grace and decorum one would expect from a member of the Marrinsky ballet. Didn't even break a sweat. In the exalted words of Arnold Schwarzenegger's terminator "I'll be back"
