Five of us went for afternoon tea for my sister-in-law 60th the food was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing. The staff did not hover over us. We were not rushed and after the afternoon tea we sat in the lounge and ordered a bottle of Prosecco and once again we were not rushed. Absolutely beautiful decor and ambience. Neha could not do enough for us by taking all our photos that we wanted. Which were a lot 😂 I would highly recommend this place and will definitely go there again.

Food was actually not bad, but service was so slow: took >20 mins for drinks to arrive. Cocktails were very ordinary and pricey to boot. Decor pretty dated. There are loads of top Indian restaurant alternatives with 5 mins walk.

Visited this gorgeous room for afternoon tea. If you are looking for a London afternoon tea experience with spicier flavors (specifically Punjabi) this is a wonderful choice. The space is beautiful, the service lovely. The location is a classic hotel.

Visited this place for my anniversary. Nice place, even though the sofas were filthy before we entered the part to have the afternoon tea. There could have been some bollywood music playing in the background since it's an indian afternoon tea. Food was average and not everything was indian. I sat down and my cup was filthy - I had asked for it to be changed. The bombay sandwich was vile, some strange taste. The TINY TINY indian bites were nice and the sandwiches very boring and very average. NO REFILLS OF FOOD. JUST THE TEA. Desserts were awful as well. They charge 12.5% service charge - I didn't even get my tea poured as I have done in previous afternoon teas I have been too. Upped the price from £38 to £43 - and for what! Super disappointed and do not recommend. Save your money and spend it on going to the Ritz which I cannot fault. Stick to what you know. Waste of £110.

The food had a decent selection and the tea was great. I celebrated my 50th with family of 14. Was happily given top up of food and tea as and when required. Darshan hosted the table and looked after us well. I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy any other afternoon tea as much now.

We were 8 adults and 5 grandkids (children aged 7 and under). Grand place.grand atmosphere, tasty food. You might ask why 4 stars then. Usually one serves kids first, but here it was reverse, adults food started arriving and children were jumping up and down for food, we had to request several times for kids food. It finally did arrive and kids were happy. When we reached Madhus, we were greeted well and were asked if we would like to put our coats in the cloak room, so I did give my coat, was given a ticket for collecting it back, which is obviously a standard procedure. When we finished I gave the ticket back and said I would like my coat back. Receptionist went in and never came back so I enquired. Then I was asked who did I gave my ticket to, sadly I had not taken the ladies name or taken her photo either, please make sure you do that when you visit this place. Then one of them claimed that she had already given me my coat back. My daughter and I went in their coat storage area and their rude reception came to tell us that we were not allowed in that area, so I said that I have been waiting for 20mins for my coat, there was rude murmering going on, finally after giving colour, type etc my coat was found. My big birthday celebrations were spoilt by three rude young reception ladies, as they lost my ticket and my coat. Sorry Madhus, please train your staff to pay attention to detail, such a beautiful place feel very sad to be writing this. Staff should always be polite. People visiting please do take name and photo of the person colleting ticket from you. Do not trust their staff to brind your coat back. Also Madhus, please remember children should always be served first.

We visited this venue as a Mother’s Day treat which was booked 4 weeks in advance. Throughout the experience we enjoyed the visit. The food was awesome, the service was great and everyone was welcoming. My only criticism is the cost for kids considering the food options for kids. I think it’s slightly overpriced for them, but again this is London.

I went for high tea on Valentine’s Day. The high tea was good and food was tasty. However, unlike other Indian high tea they do not refill the food for free. The food was enough to be full afterwards but could have done with a few refills offered. Also being Valentine’s Day the same menu was £10/person higher than the normal days but there was no additional decoration or service for the additional money paid.

We came for afternoon tea. Whilst the service was efficient and attentive I felt the staff were missing a warmth, friendliness about them which can really affect the whole experience of afternoon tea in Mayfair. The food itself was average, definitely over-priced for what it was. Would I go back? Probably not as once you've had it once, you don't really fancy it again.

We dined at Madhu’s again for high tea this weekend following our December 2023 visit and received excellent service from Joseph and his team. The flow of the meals were as expected and hot tea at our fingertips throughout the visit. The food was good and had a lovely bite to it in keeping with its theme which seperates the experience from other high tea venues that I have tried. The restaurant surroundings are lovely and the staff were warm and friendly. What I appreciated most about this visit is the willingness of the team to deliver a great experience. Thank you again to Joseph and his team!

Went for afternoon tea one Saturday in January. Customer service was slow throughout. Although special shout out to AB, who went above and beyond to make our experience more memorable, and apologised on behalf of the chefs when I gave feedback on the food. Managers were picky as to which tables they went to. As I left I asked for a manage email address, to which a manager gave me a card rather than ask me for real time feedback - gave me a feeling that they expect this more often than not. Food - half was decent, half was bland. I had the non-veg afternoon tea - the chicken wrap was seasoned and spicy; same for the salmon sandwich; cucumber sandwich was dry and tasteless. Samosas freshly hot, could do with more seasoning; lamb burger undercooked. Bomber sandwich - a theatrical display was made of this however nothing too extraordinary. The prawn canapé - did not taste of anything. Desserts - all moussy type and not enough fresh flavours. The mango purée tasted similar to the tin bought from VB. Scones - one can buy better shop bought, very dry and undercooked. Chai - my dad makes a better version at home and even the Dishoom chai has more flavour and spices. My friend’s a food blogger and rated this a 5.5/6 out of 10. Ambience - pretty decent - this is what you’re paying for. Location - green park so easily accessible. Prices are going up 4/2 by a fiver - there are better places for this price in London that can be recommended

We stayed at the Dilly for 2 nights with our 7 year old disabled daughter, meeting friends from America who we haven’t seen in 10 years. The hotel has a downstairs piano bar and an independent bar/restaurant upstairs (Madhu’s). We decided to spend our evenings here and found an area in the corner of the bar out the way. Services is very slow and the drinks are of a good quality but very expensive. We had a bar bill of around £400 both nights for the 5 of us. On our second visit and spending around 4 hours chatting and drinking in the bar, A small gentleman was walking the floor and for some reason after talking to the young front of house girl, made it over to our table, where nobody else was sat near us addressing the noise levels and particularly seemed to be directed at our 7 year old daughter. When challenged about this he confirmed he had received no complaints and was is only doing to come over as he felt the noise levels were no high. My daughter was the only child in the bar area, which children are allowed, is disabled with some sensory issues, as explained but even so I do not believe nor the guests we were with, was being loud and was simply enjoying herself talking to our American friends. Hate to use the phrase however this was definitely a case of ‘small man syndrome’ and he came across very arrogant and can only presume he was trying to impress certain members of his staff. Even though our American friends have two days left of their time in London and the Dilly they have already said they will refuse to go back in here for a drink. Maybe if they didn’t allow children or called the bar the library, this may make this very arrogant man happy in his job. Very disappointing end to two days shared with our friends at Madhu’s and why a manager addressed our daughter in this way.

I attended for a friend's birthday dinner here a few nights ago. The service was immaculate and the food was delicious. One gentleman in particular who was working in the downstairs bar (Vincent) really went out of his way to ensure we were happy. He offered to take our group photos and ensured we captured the evening. Thank you, Vincent!

We were customers staying at the Dilly. Had booked a table for 4 for 20.00 (Five days previously). Arrived at 20.00 and had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Had to wait a further 20 minutes before they took our order. Food was very good but service was slow.

We went for afternoon tea at Madhu's. The decor is stunning and the service was very good. We were served by Shweta. What we liked, the sandwiches, the Bombay sandwich and the cakes. The tandoori chai (masala tea) was also good. I didn't enjoy the scones or jam. I was a presented with a large birthday macaroon which was nice. Overall its good value compared to many of the very expensive afternoon teas. If you want a top afternoon tea then you have to pay approx £75 in some hotels.

Amazing ambiance, beautiful decor and delicious food. It has been a great experience and a pleasure to wine and dine in such an amazing restaurant set in an elegant and high-end hotel. Complimentary poppadums and chutneys were served as soon as we sat at our table which was nice. Our waiter, DARSHAN was very attentive, polite and welcoming and made sure we enjoyed our evening. He explained the drinks and food menu and gave us time to decide. For starters I ended up going for the Palak Patta Chaat - This was amazing, highly recommend and great choice. For mains I had Rogan Josh with Pilau rice and Tandoori Naan. Again this was beautifuly cooked, the meat melted in my mouth, the rice was soft, moist with a clean and sweet taste and it had a wonderful fragrance. We also had the Lamb Shank, braised in a signature sauce and again melted in my mouth, the flavours took control of my taste buds and I wanted more. We also had a selection of cocktails with my favourite being the Caribbean Crash, if you like sweet then this is for you. I want to reach out once again about the service, the waiting staff are very professional, polite and welcoming. Excellent service is what makes a good business as well as the food and without these two then why bother. Highly recommend and definitely will return.

Average given the price. Nothing particularly bad, but given the price the food quality was about average and nothing really stood out as wow, as you would hope for somewhere charging £50/head. On the face of it the decor looks ornate and impressive, but actually when you looked closer the wood panelling looked tired, and in places may have had black mould on the edges of the mouldings. The atmosphere was also somehow cold and lacking warmth and class — it is possible this was due to a poor choice of lighting, mostly overhead and cold in temperature, and not enough side lighting and of a warmer colour temperature. It was also actually cold! It is not clear why the air conditioning would be on and set to such a low temperature in October. It was too cold for my 74 year old mother, but eventually they did provide a small space heater, which greatly improved things. The staff were friendly and helpful — i.e. with the space heater —and the manager honoured the price I was quoted online, which disagreed with the price in the menu in the restaurant.

Its closed. Thank heavens. Dirty place. Oily food. Hideous. Had a photo of Princess Diana in the window so as to lure in punters. In the photo Diana is running away from this place.

The idea is interesting, small plates but interesting and very well cooked. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable which is a very big plus. We've been a couple of times and will go again.

I had an incredible dining experience at Royal India in Covent Garden. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully authentic atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, making excellent recommendations tailored to our tastes. The food was truly exceptional—each dish was rich, flavorful, and expertly spiced, capturing the true essence of Indian cuisine. The butter chicken was silky and packed with flavor, while the biryani was aromatic and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, Royal India is a must-visit. This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in London, and I can’t wait to return!
