Without question the best coffee house in Petersfield - definitely make the effort to go there. Whether for jus5 a coffee or more the atmosphere is pleasant gently bohemian, arty, quiet, and choice of deli to purchase also, at a high level.

Consistently serves the best coffee in Petersfield and delicious food from the deli to eat in or take home. Divine cakes and bakes, scrumptious savoury dishes like frittata, quiche, sausage rolls and chicken milanaise, soups and salads. Fabulous.

In a town where there are so many cafes/coffee bars you need something special/different to stand out. Unfortunately this is not the case with Madeleines. We walk past most weeks when in town and have kept saying we like the look of it and should try it. Were we disappointed - dirty uncleaned table, tasteless coffee and dry overcooked raspberry scones (which looked nothing like I think of as a "scone"). Dont think we will be trying again in a hurry.

Great choice of food, loved the salad bar. Nice to find somewhere that offers different dishes compared to the same old thing that you get everywhere else.

Friendly staff, good food and a nice atmosphere. It’s not the cheapest eat in town.. but it is one of the best. It does get busy, so sometimes you might have to wait for a table.. but it’s worth it!

Delicious food. Light-filled eating area which has been expanded with more seating. Only niggle is hard seating (one sofa). Salad selection excellent

It came recommended and didn’t disappoint. Nicely wrapped up and heavy, the salt beef was melt in the mouth and the sauerkraut was just in the right proportion. I could get the rye bread flavour coming through as well. Definitely a treat to be enjoyed when your pretty hungry.

Why has it taken me so long to find this wonderful place? Excellent, tasty food, good choice available and very reasonably priced. Good coffee. We will be back!

Madeleine's Kitchen pulled the stops out to provide hampers catering for 30 guests at Cowdray Gold Cup polo. The hampers contained everything needed - bamboo plates, wooden cutlery and yummy food. As it was delivered chilled to my door as a scorching hot Sunday and was still chilled when we ate at lunchtime. Thank you to everyone at the Bskehouse and Antonia and her staff - my guests loved it

I couldn’t find a page for Madeleine’s Midhurst, so have posted my review here. We were in the area to visit Cowdray Park, so called in here for lunch. The food was delicious and very varied. One mark taken off for all disposable cutlery, cups and boxes (even when eating in the cafe!).

Wow! Best gourmet sandwiches in Hampshire. Great coffee too. Sandwiches made with great attention to taste and presentation.

I was introduced to this Deli by a friend. We sat at a table at the back and had lunch. When I arrived, all I could see were pastry items & I thought this was going to be a coeliac's nightmare. But when we asked, a whole cabinet devoted to gluten-free savouries was pointed out to us! I had an Avocado Muffin. My friend and I will definitely be back very soon for a mug of hot chocolate and a slice of gluten-free cake. I could see the cakes looked delicious. But why do you only mention 'Vegan, Vegetarian Options' in your headline and not 'Gluten-free Options' as well? One other comment - you need more tables and chairs in the cafe at the back. I am disabled and cannot stand around waiting for a table to be free. Two kind ladies got up and offered us their table, and went and sat on bar stools.

This used to be my favourite place in Petersfield but I am afraid to say that despite the food being delicious, the service was terrible! There seemed to be something far more important going on at the back, I had to wait a while to be served, even though there were no other customers and I was left in the middle of paying for my food, until another waitress asked me what I was waiting for, when I explained she was very helpful, and concluded the transaction! As I said the food was delicious, but rather expensive when it was eaten from a paper bag and a cardboard cup on the premises!

Puts all the others to shame. Products (many special diets catered for) are all of excellent first class quality. I can't wait to come back again , though sadly rarely visit Midhurst. The only down side is it can be a bit pricy. But you get what you pay for.

Mid morning visit to Madeleines in Petersfield for a tea and croissant. Very welcoming and friendly staff took our order at the table and checked in a couple of times to make sure all was ok. Whilst only eating a croissant the deli offered a range of soups, salads, light meals and pastries as well as other food stuffs such as cheese, sauces, cold meats etc. Well worth a visit if you are looking for something different in terms of ingredients. And two cups of tea each from a pot for two.

What a gorgeous place! I met a friend here for lunch and the menu was so good, it was hard to choose what to have! The food was completely fantastic and we will definitely go again. We were there for a couple of hours as we hadn’t seen each other for ages and were having a really good catch up, and at no stage did anyone hurry us up. Very friendly staff, and just a really good experience. Thank you!

I had a business meeting and suggested lunch to my colleague on the way back to Petersfield railway station. Prior to their departure I suggested lunch here. I had the really tasty Thai sweet potato soup and great bread/butter, which was delicious and my colleague had an avocado with additional ingredients baguette, which she loved. Really good waiting staff too who were attentive. I could have been tempted to eat some of the wonderful cakes on offer but restrained myself. :)

Recommended by a colleague - this quaint little deli doesn’t disappoint- highly recommend the smoked chicken, bacon, Avo&Tom baguette - I’ve not tasted such delicious bread since living in Paris and lovely fillings- can’t wait to try more on their menu!

Our sewing group met for a Christmas lunch at Madeleine's. It is just a small cafe, but the choice of food is excellent and so fresh and delicious. Staff are friendly and helpful. We all went out having bought some of the extras as well!

What an amazing find!!!! Service was second to none everyone so friendly and helpful!!! The Coronation Chicken was THE BEST I’ve ever tasted!!! The bread was amazing, to be honest there was nothing I could fault! I don’t know where they get the coffee from but it was delicious!!! Don’t get me started on the cakes!!! It was fab and my 11 & 13 year old were happy happy!!! Highly recommend

This little cafe has not been open long in Petersfield and already is becoming a favourite of ours. We visited for a third time on Saturday for mid morning coffee and a snack. The coffee is an excellent roast, even decaf, which often tastes weak, but not at Madeleines. The food is always appetising and attractive, including a vegetarian section and yummy cakes. A great cafe addition to Petersfield, which has a lot of competition.

I used to work with someone who went to get her lunch at Madeleine's Kitchen. She would bring it back to the shop and whatever she had always looked and smelled delicious. I only volunteer half-days and live in the centre of the town so could not really justify treating myself at Madeleine's. I was delighted when they moved to the bigger premises; it's always wonderful when a local business does well.

Madeleines is our favorite deli and breakfast- lunch restaurant in Petersfiled. The food is delicious, the service is warm, homey and lovely. The coffee is wonderful. We particularly love the avocado muffin. This is also a great place to buy a spoiling treaty foody presents.

I visited this lovely establishment for the first time a week after it had relocated. What a find! A lovely traditional cafe selling yummy cakes. I opted for a good coffee and a bacon butty served in great sour dough bread. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!!!! I will definitely go again.

I ordered a coffee and an egg frittata. The frittata had a funny smell. I know it had been prepared in advance but just how long had it been sitting there. When I told the owner she said ‘no one else has complained.’ I know people are kind and like to patron local businesses but bottom line is food has to be fresh. If things are not sold that day then they will obviously sit in the fridge until the next. One has to be completely honest and transparent. If things are not sold then throw them away. The coffee was poor quality and badly prepared - no creama. I don’t think the milk served was organic. I would love to write something positive but the shop is overpriced and the food well underwhelming and unfresh.

The sell the most delicious green soup ever and they also make the best coffee. Petersfield would be a sad place without this deli.

Great choice of foods, had the feta and spinach filo pie, served with a few side salady bits. Lovely and filling.

Popped in for a hot drink on a cold day and ended up with 2 leek and potato soups and 2 hot chocolates.

Wonderful staff who always engage with you, the coffee is perfect and made to my particular request and the frittata is to die for.

Found this by accident, a pleasant little coffee shop at the back of a bookshop. staff were pleasant and the food tasty. It was nice to give my business to a local establishment and not a chain.

Had lunch here today (Saturday). It was very busy so no tables downstairs and had to eat at too low coffee table upstairs. However food was good and portion size just right for lunchtime. My wife had quiche and salad while I had the rarebit toastie served with a nicely dressed tomato and rocket salad. We finished with a custard tart and a slice of French almond cake - both very good. We each drank a glass of sauvignon blanc.

What a treasure trove of delights for anyone interested in good food. Still discovering new favourites but love their sourdough bread and great salads. Staff are friendly and knowledgable. I find it impossible pass without popping in to explore.

The arrival of Madeleine's Kitchen has been the best thing in Petersfield for a long time. Delicious and interesting proper homemade food served by friendly professional staff.

My husband ordered a large chocolate cake from here for my birthday, what a brilliant idea as i always make all the birthday cakes for the family. It was light moist and definitely had chocolate in it unlike some i have had. Really scummy!

Books, great coffee, delicious food. Delighted that Madeleines kitchen has moved into the wonderful One Tree Books. The ambiance is perfect with the new furniture, really interesting art work on the walls (for sale), delicious tomato and chick pea soup today. Followed by a very good coffee. Simple pleasures really well done!

This is an excellent little place for lunch or a treat to take home. The home baking is especially great. Also good for little foodie gifts and cut flowers on the weekend. Local fare. Friendly and patient. I am a regular.

Great food, fantastic atmosphere, lovely service, my only quandary is whether to go to Madeline's Kitchen in Lavant Street or Madeline's Kitchen in One Tree Books! Well done girls, you have taken Petersfield by storm!
