Madeira's Fish and Chips Takeway in Milton Keynes

I had a medium doner kebab that was part of a larger order. This review is purely in relation to my meal only. The pitta was stale, the doner meat was cold, dry and had no flavour (definitely no lamb). The salad was past its best. Dry cucumber, soggy tomatoes, limp lettuce and the red cabbage, well it was red cabbage. I only ate a couple of bites, this was quite possibly the worst kebab I have had to date.

I have been OVERCHARGED for ice cream TWICE! First I thought it was a mistake but today it happened again. I wanted a single ice cream and I paid with my card. The man confirmed the price of £2.90 and held the card reader with the sim scanner towards me. The way he held the card scanner I couldn’t see screen and the price I was about to be charged. It was later when I realised I paid AGAIN £ 3.90 for a double cone and not a single one. I am not bother about the money, but the I feel that my trust was abused and I have being deceived. Shame that a business in the heart of our little Olney is scamming their customers.

Well positioned in Olney, great food, I've tried various choices from their takeaway menu, just printing this is making me hungry, guess I'll be going there tonight.

Very nice staff, lovely people, nice big menu, fish and chips aren't quite as good as Mario's but still on par and the Kebabs often a bit dry from under use, bit spenny but that's Olney for you.

I've been here 3-4 times now and I've always had a good experience. I had chicken kebab and chips; the kebab was tasty and so were the chips and it's reasonably priced.

We went there for a burger and fish n chips. Nice portions and friendly staff.

Nice selection of meals to choose from, kebabs, fried ckicken, pizzas, fish and chips. A good alround'a.

My son brought 1 piece chicken & chips yesterday, toke a bite out the chicken it was pink the way through, and could still see blood. He toke it back, was told by the guy who was working that it was perfectly fine to eat and that he had cooked them himself for 30 to 45 mins. He refunded £2 which he said that's how much the chicken cost. Disgusting and could of ended differently if my son hadn't seen it was raw. Check your food before someone is seriously ill. Won't be returning

Awful, went back after not going for 2 years as the food was terrible and went safe with savoly and chips. It’s now run by kids and the savoly was cold and uncooked, not sure how this place is still open.

This chip shop is amazing. I had the best chicken burger ever and the staff are very friendly and its great xx

When I am ever in Olney Madeira's is always my first port of call! The staff are friendly and chatty and always a service with smile. The chips are amazing! Crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. They obviously change the oil regularly to get them this good. Sausage in batter is not too heavy and they use good quality meat. These guys are well worth a visit!!! Please support your local chippy!!

The best Fish & Chips in Olney and maybe the surrounding area too - cooked fresh while you wait - excellent.

First time was good can even get battered marsbar. Second time I got a kebab and the salad was so cold that it made the meat cold. Third time just got chips and this picture is all the burned chips (i asked to make me fresh ones and the employee (man) told me that this is how the chips come) I understand one or 2 but half my portion is not acceptable

Was about to go in but the smell of old oil was over powering and I immediately did an about turn. Found another shop along the road a bit which gave a great impression so went there. First impressions are the important ones and I may have miscalculated this, however from the minimal number of reviews, I suspect I had a lucky escape

Odd overcooked chips, but generally light and fluffy. Not sure if they have any vegan options but would be great to see some.

Loved this fish bar until they closed for four weeks over one Christmas and New Year forcing us to use the fish and chip shop a few doors away. Unfortunately, you lost us 😔

We were at this fish and chips shop last Friday and had fish and chips. And they were great , nice and hot and tasty to eat . And the staff was great as well , we will go back again very soon .

Really needs to change cooking oil more often

Nice people but the food was average - chips were ok if you're hungry, the rest was over battered and drenched in oil - I'm guessing I got it on a bad night.

So not only do u mess the order up, meaning I need to drive back to olney to ensure that everybody gets fed, we get back, my partner starts eating and pulls a hair out of her mouth that's in the doner meat she ordered! 🤢 Absolutely disgusting and will not b returning that's for sure! And instead of dealing with it yourself, being the manager, passing the phone on to your young colleague that took the order correctly, despite u trying to say she didn't, is a pretty low and cowardly move! Wouldn't even give u a 1/10! No wonder people prefer enzos!

Bought a chicken wrap and returned 3 hours later for another. Try it with salad. In a word Superb.

Sausages were cheap type. Chips tasted like been fried in old oil. Lady who served me very brusque and was barking orders to staff in a language I didn’t recognise. Didn’t feel in least bit welcome. Never mind , I’m back up north tomorrow where people are friendlier!

Their "small" doner and chips is enough to feed few adults and potentially another kid :)

Superb quality of food, freshly cooked. Ordered a mixed kebab and the taste was amazing. So much food - large is big, my wife had to save half! Fish and chips is so good too. I order a large cod, medium cod and 1 large chips for 2 of us... and we still have leftovers. Pizzas are really tasty too. This is a going to be more of a regular for us. Thanks Rita ! ❤️

Was visiting Olney and see this fish and chip shop and thought we'd give it a go. From entering we we're greated with excellent customer service and portion sizes was more than adequate for us both. Chips were scrumptious as was the battered sausages. Good value for money and would definitely recommend a visit .. Thankyou.

Disappointed with the second visit here. First time I had an average meal. This time poor. Chips were old and stale tasting at 6.30 at night and fish batter was poor.

We just had chips, very nice, we enjoyed them as it's been a long time since we had shop cooked fish and chips.

Paying for convenience, not for good food unfortunately. Visited this place a few times, each time ordering something different hoping it would be better, but no. I mean, look at their “stuffed crust” pizza.... the cheese isn’t even in the crust. Everything is just low quality and expensive. I’ve given it 2 stars because at least it was edible, but if you have other options for food definitely take it.

The fish and chips here are superb, large portions perfectly cooked - nothing soggy or cheap. Kebabs are also terrific and all of the food from Madeira's is excellent value. The best place by far for miles around.

As my title hints, there's nothing actually wrong with Madeira's fish and chips. On the other hand, neither are they particularly great. They're just OK. I would not hesitate to buy a takeaway there if the occasion arose but, frankly, whilst there are above average alternatives readily available nearby, it seems unlikely I'll return.

Says they are open on their website and just drove 20 minutes to find they are infact not. 👍

Shocking. I would say it's the first time I've been but I've gave them numerous chances and this is it. Dried kebab meat. Chicken that's been dried out like an arabs sandle . No positives I'm sorry. Only reason they get business is because it's a prime location.

9 familys camping at Emberton turned up unannounced, 3 members of staff, absolutely nailed the service. Well done to all the team you were amazing!! Great food!! Thank you

Nice fish and chips, the pizzas are great too! They offer more than Enzo's at an aspiring standard, but nevertheless this is a good chippy.

Friends took me to this place as I hadn't had a Kebab for years. The own is fantastic and the Kebab was amazing. When ever I decide to have another one, this is the place to go get it. Excellent service. Great food. Individual requirements catered for. Well worth the money which isn't expensive and great value. Mr M

Been going here for fish and chips and Kebabs for years. Just tried the pizzas and they're seriously good.
