Mac'n'Alli in South Tyneside

Popped in here ad-hoc as was passing and fancied a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. Paid £10 for the privilege of ordering a bacon and egg sandwich with a flat white. It was nice, but not £10 nice. Seems very expensive when you can get comparable food at significantly lower prices nearby. I'll personally not be back.

Can’t really fault anything. Sausages weren’t my particular taste but that’s my opinion. Everything was cooked well with the MOST PERFCT EGGS!!!! Was really tasty, well presented and good coffee. A pleasure!

Wonderful little place, total hidden gem. Will be recommending to everyone I know. Staff are very kind and food is absolutely delicious different from every other place and lots of variety. Can feed vegetarians also! Which is a life saver with my friends and family. I'm a huge fan of the poached eggs on toast whoever cooks them is a connoisseur of poaching ✨ will be a regular customer thanks so much for being a local gem.

Quirky place to eat, not just a cafe but a little bit more. Healthy food options well presented in comfortable surroundings. A million miles away from the chain venues but price wise not much more expensive. A bit out of the way but definitely worth a try.

Good food here the wife had quiche with salad chips I had omelette with salad chips and both very nice,cakes in here are lovely obviously a good chef and Baker combined.

Pricy doesn’t even cut it. My experience began yearning for a delectable dessert, I ventured through the many streets of South Shields to procure a selection of chilled cheesecake slices, for takeout, so as to enjoy one amongst my own comforts. I entered to discover that a void of information greeted me as no prices were displayed, and my inquiry was met with silence. Their reliance on British politeness became an intricate trap. The staff swiftly cut and boxed the slices before revealing the total price – a staggering £6.25 per slice. With a glimmer of hope, I imagined a sweet culinary delight that would mesmerize my taste buds. This optimism carried me through the palpitations at payment. Alas, my anticipation crumbled into disappointment. The promised allure of ginger and lemon vanished, replaced by an overwhelming sense of letdown. A fleeting aroma of ginger teased my senses, only to be overshadowed by the mundane flavor of sugary whipped cream. No intricate dance of flavors, no lingering essence of cleansing citrus and no tingling of ginger spice. Just an overwhelming tidal wave of sugar, cream and monotony. My disappointment knew no bounds. While I grasp the realities of business overheads, inflation, and the elusive ‘Covid costs,’ at that price point and with that lackluster quality, it’s hard to fathom anything beyond sheer greed. True, I could have declined, retracting my agreement to purchase. Yet, amidst the wait and sudden growth of a queue, I clung to the dream of dessert heaven. I should have known better, considering artisan patisseries in cities offer superior quality at more reasonable prices, but alas, my desire for deliciousness clung to the expectation and at least hope that others shared a similar commitment to cake. Sad to say, A rip off

This place is fine the service is fine, the staff are nice, the place is nice and big. It's just lacking home made food, the quiche was microwaved I'm guessing as soggy, coffee was way to hot, the cakes looked frozen and mass produced

Always fantastic food and great service in this fab little hidden gem of a place. Quirky decor and very relaxed. One fault? Its always chilly in there (but it wouldn't put me off going). Love it.

What a lovely little place this one is. We had lovely meals, staff are lovely, decor a bit quirky I loved it. Will definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back.

Just what a coffee shop and light cafe' should be.

Not impressed. Service took ages for a drink and a cake. Chai latte was truly disgusting. Tasteless. Bearing in mind it was over £15 for 2 drinks and 2 cakes, there are much better places available.

Great place to meet up with friends and enjoy breakfast, lunch and tasty treats.The cheese scones are to die for and we love the jacket potatoes and delicious cakes.The staff are very helpful and friendly.

My wife was introduced to this cafe by a friend and took me for lunch. Food was excellent, service cheerful and friendly. One word of warning the cakes potions are huge! As an aside it was nice to see an article on the wall about Peggy Castle, a forgotten star of the silver screen.

Popped in as it's near my home and the beach. I ordered eggs Benedict and a slice of biscoff cheesecake, the desert I took home to eat. It cost me roughly £11. The cafe itself is nicely decorated, clean with comfortable seating. WiFi available. It was quite busy when I went in but my order was prepared quickly. Good breakfast but the cheesecake was the big win. Quite fussy about cheesecakes. This was perfect, taste and texture. Freshly made. Would recommend the place. Pictures attached.

Nice enough place, looks quirky and staff were lovely. Enjoyed my lunch of a pie and chips. Pie wasn't something to write home about however the chips were lovely. A tad overpriced in my opinion for what you get.

Lovely food, decor and staff. Breakfast for 3 of us was lovely but I struggled to eat mine, although I had a DIY breakfast. Highly recommend.

I've been here a few times and the food and staff are always good with a great selection from breakfast to large portions of cake. A little expensive but a very relaxed atmosphere. Recommended.

I have life threatening food allergies and find it very hard to find somewhere safe to eat. Mac n Alli is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and have an excellent knowledge of allergies. They make freshly prepared food which is both delicious and safe for me to eat. Well done to all the staff.

Not a good choice of gluten free, they were not sure what was gluten free, got told at one point the quiche was gluten free untill I questioned it. What we did eat was very tasty. Also they charge 20p for condiments ie a small amount of mayonnaise

I go every Saturday, sometimes with my family and always get a warm welcome from the staff. My Americano sets me up for the day and either sandwich or all day breakfast makes the perfect base for drinks with mates in the afternoon. Also, free Wi-Fi, what more could you want?

Food is always amazing and brilliant service and staff I highly recommend it.

The best ALL DAY breakfast in the North East. Food is first class quality, the staff are fabulous and very welcoming, catering to your every need. Home made produce and the variety of cakes to eat in or take away are delicious. My Saturday morning treat and love it. Plus, views of the beautiful coast while you eat. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed

Just had an absolutely wonderful afternoon tea at this lovely place. Make sure you go with a very healthy appetite and give yourself plenty of time! From the tasty little finger sandwiches, the quiche and the smoked salmon crackers, to the enormous fresh cream scones and lovely little cakes it was just perfect. Endless tea and pretty china completed our afternoon experience and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you ladies! X

We used my Mother's Day vouchers for afternoon tea on Thursday and we weren't disappointed. The food was beautifully presented, tasted and looked delicious. There was a lovely atmosphere in there and the staff were amazing. Nothing was a problem. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Genuinely shocking sandwich. Never usually leave reviews (negative ones anyway) but this was so bad it infuriated me. Slapped together with hardly any filling - and FIVE POUNDS?! For what amounts to a bread bun with a glob of margarine in the middle. Avoidddddd.

What can one say !!! I was passing through and fancied an egg a bacon sunny .The most expensive Egg N Bacon Toastie I have ever had was £4.40 and delicious . Two Egg and Bacon Toaties and a hopeless Cappuccino came to £14.50.!!! No butter on the thick brown toasts and egg over cooked so it was all very dry and after a half an hour wait coz they got my order wrong felt robbed. I was shocked how busy it was but then again there was no food outlet round there and people have to put up with this place.The coffee although I had asked for a strong and double shot was just milk and no taste of coffee. It really left a bad taste in my mouth and felt robbed.Since I dont live round there did not go back and complain.

An anniversary treat, this was the best high tea! Boxed a few treats so my elderly parents could share in the experience.

My first visit and my last. I ordered a jack potato and I received half of it with cheese that was horrible along with the salad garnish that was pointless. The staff were friendly which was positive.
