Macleans Bakery and Cafe in Highland

Traditional Scottish bakery and cafe. Popped in mid afternoon for tea and cakes. Friendly service with little touches that show care for the customer e.g scissors to cut open these tricky little sachets of sauce (although the health and safety police might disapprove). Warm, comfortable atmosphere. Well worth dropping in or takeaway.

As their cafe does not accept dogs we opted for the takeaway and what a choice. Fine Scottish breakfast wraps with Lorne sausage Haggis beans and hash brown - amazing - and sides of tattie scones if you wanted! A tasty cake and 2 coffees and change from a tenner - what’s not to like.

Chairs falling apart and injured friend. Advised staff but not interested. Food was reheated and half order forgotten about Toilets disgusting

Popped into Macleans on a Sunday morning and had a lovely breakfast. All the staff are very attentive and when we ordered at the till we were served by a lovely lady call Mags, who was very friendly and helpful. Our cooked breakfast came quickly and were delicious. The portions were very generous, so we left there feeling very full and satisfied. Will definitely come back again.

As always the food was excellent and the range of cakes is huge. The lasagne pie and chips was had followed by a caramel eclair. Service is good and the place is modern and clean.

We popped in for lunch. Chose and we were surprised how quickly we were served. Food tasty and piping hot. Lovely selection of home bakes, though no scones. The only let down was the poor toilet facilities-not that great and hand drier broken as was paper dispenser. Need to be a lot fresher.

As I work nearby this cafe, over the years I have visited it often. Very recently they have had a "special" panini on the menu; Beef, Cheese Mustard / Onion ...wow!! Please keep this as a regular item on the menu it is a wonderful lunch.

Great food , great speedy service, home made specials … and a shop full of lovely goodies, I would suggest that a visit to Grantown wouldn’t be the same if you don’t call in at the shop or Restraunt.

We always pop in here when we visit Granton. Lovely cakes and my wife was happy that they sell vegan biscuits now too (they were amazing!). Raspberry tart was great!

Dropped in for lunch during a long drive. Hard to see if it is table service or not as the 'order at counter' notice had bright light behind it. My wife and I popped in for a light lunch, the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was the best Scotch Pie we had ever tasted, the pastry was so light and the filling delicious. Finished it off with a cup of tea and a gorgeous caramel eclair.

Group of cyclists doing Land’s End to John O’Groats called in today for hot food, drink, shelter from the rain and a warm-up. The staff are lovely, the food good, filling, and served very quickly, and the manager generously gave some money to the charity I’m fund-raising for (Prostate Cancer UK). Stayed in Grantown for 6 days and had soup for lunch at Maclean's on 4 occasions. The soup was always excellent accompanied by delicious bread. If you have the space, the cakes are very good as well.

A very clean and comfortable cafe serving a good selection of delicious sandwiches and cakes and also some tasty homemade soups. Friendly staff who offer an excellent service.

Travelled through from a village near by to get lunch in Grantown on Spey when we stumbled across this establishment. It was very busy and for a group of 6 we were very lucky to get a table as only one of them seated this amount. The food was lovely and as were the people who were serving. Service with a a mile :) definitively one of the best hot chocolates we have had as well!! Really enjoyed our visit and we will definitely be back if we are in and around the area again. Thank you!

Always call in when we are visiting in Grantown on Spey. Great for a coffee and a slice of fresh made cake. friendly staff and clean and tidy surroundings. The take away food is great and they have a great selection of scotch pies.

Had a wee bit of breakfast here. Pastry and small steak pie. Pastry was very good. Coffee was very good. Steak pie was so-so. Waitstaff wear cute black and blue outfits with matching derbies. Great service.

The good thing is that Macleans Bakery is opened on Sunday, when all other restaurants were closed in tiny Grantown-on-Spey. We had a very nice soup & sandwich lunch (mushroom soup, veggie soup and two chicken salad sandwiches) for £7.50 each.

We needed a quick lunch and stopped into Macleans for a few pies. They weren't big or pricey but they were tasty. Craig's Bar serves up better but Macleans in conveniently located on High Street. And they have great baked goods for dessert.

Visited here and got some carry out cakes and bread rolls. The service was friendly and there was a good choice of cakes to choose from. The cakes we had were very good as was the white rolls.

I have now visited this bakery three times in the past few weeks and each time I go, the cakes are of a great variety and great flavour. The staff are very attentive, pleasant,, courteous and serve with a smile. The coffee is excellent with a good choice. This bakery has everything and is in a good location with access to all in Grantown. Pay it a visit.

Old school bakery and cafe done right. Staff are helpful and very pleasant. We’ve been going here for a number of years as the food is lovely (macaroni and chips especially) there’s a lot of choice on the menu. The Coffee is also top notch (not sure why so many cafes get this bit wrong). I do enjoy looking at the art that’s always hanging on the walls (it changes often) as some of the pieces are fantastic. The bakery/cafe is testament to how things should be done and it’s obvious a lot of hard work goes in to make this the case.

Four of us stopped for a quick lunch while on a visit to one of the enarby distilleries. Nice roomy cafe with a lovely gallery of local art. We had 3 soups the lentil, tomato and basil and the thais soup all came with lovely chunky brown bread and 1 all day breakfast with a can of juice each. £20 and was lovely and tasty. The boys then had a strawberry tart each and it looked nice but one wasn't keen on the pastry case whic was a bit hard and not rich shortcrust pastry.

well....thought it would be a nice place to stop for coffee and a snack, lady who served us well would get more craic at the undertakers!! coffee was tiny and the empire biscuit was burnt, complained at end didn't really make a fuss, vertically challenged lady gave refund which am sure was not the correct price but not wanting to make a scene but rest of staff was nice

Called in on a Saturday morning for breakfast while staying in the Caravan Park. Friendly staff and efficient service. Was very busy but order taken at counter and breakfast served all within twenty minutes. Food excellent. Will certainly return.

Having been out sight seeing, we needed food and drink. The coffee was first class. My wife had the homemade soup which was really tasty. I chose the Lasagne pie, which was served piping hot, what a great filling for a pie. The cafe was full ot tourists and locals and the staff were first class. Well worth a visit, their breakfasts sounded terrific.

Very pleased to find this well-run bakery open on Sunday for a lovely bowl of French onion soup and a great sandwich as we were in our walking gear. Staff very welcoming. Also we bought one of the paintings by local artists displayed on the wall!

My wife and I again spent a few days in Grantown-on-Spey and visit Macleans on a number of occasions for lunch or snacks. In our experience the quality of the food is always excellent and the staff are very friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.
