Two waitresses, one young and cheerful one not so. Similarly my wife's Apple Pie light, moist and tasty, my Almond slice not so. Tea served in coffee cups, toilet facilities a bit primitive, and not cheap.

Stopped on way back south for a coffee and a bacon sarnie after a weekend in Inverness. Just wanted a quick sandwich and coffee so grabbed a takeaway. Asked for bacon to be crispy - not a big request really. Very pleasant lady taking orders said no problem and instructed the woman cooking accordingly. Got sandwiches and coffees and headed down the street - should have checked the sandwiches. My partner had a bite of hers and said I'm not eating this. Bacon pallid and greasy. Cheap margarine slapped on the bun. I looked at mine. The same. I was hungry - when I'm hungry I can eat anything. Had a mouthful and just about had to spit it out. Greasy and horrible. Cheap nasty bacon with white foamy stuff coming out of it. Thought about going back and returning offending sandwiches but long walk back from car and needed to get on the road. Tasted coffee - no no no it was dishwater. Rubbish as well. It all went in the bin. Wasted £8 and still hungry. There is a Greggs a couple of shops down from this cafe. We didn't go because I always feel you should support local businesses in favour of the chains who dominate the high streets. I think I understand why the chains are so successful if a local cafe cannot even manage a bacon sandwich and a drinkable cup of coffee.

Stopped here on a journey home to Thurso from Perth for some brunch. Looked nice from the outside. Wish we had gone further down the road to go elsewhere! Food was pretty overpriced. And to eat in was a substantial amount more expensive. Please do not get me wrong I understand the reasons to charge more to sit in - but the increase in price was totally unreasonable! With the full breakfast being overpriced I decided to have the cheeseburger - no complaints with my food. Was very nice. My sister and friend had the "full English" priced at £6 and was a pitiful looking portion. My niece had a bacon roll, one slice of bacon which was rife with fat. My nephew had the macaroni. Tasted like it came out of a tin with a grudged amount of cheap cheese sprinkled on the top. Portion was tiny. He never ate it all and I don't blame him - it was gross. Lady at the front had no interest in us or how our meal was. Very unhelpful. Also the seating arrangements were terrible - right next to the counter. With other customers making orders they were uncomfortably close to us when we were eating - banging into my elbows - any closer and they would have been on my plate! (Although this is no fault of the customers just poor arrangements of the furniture) Also - no toilet! Asked if there was one. Was told very abruptly "no. There are public toilets up that way" Overall - not a good experience.

Le dije que era inaceptable y me dijeron que lo habían recalentado. Ninguna disculpa mucho menos un reembolso. OK . . . a cold Saturday morning in November but nevertheless I was disappointed. A latte and a bacon roll "to sit in". The bacon roll was ok, although the nozzle on the tomato sauce could have done with a run under the tap but the latte was decidedly off. The milk had gelatinous lumps in it. Returned it, and after opening and inspecting the milk reservoir in the coffee machine, the young lady agreed with me. Quite a while later I received a replacement cup but it was still off and I simply left it.

Went in around lunchtime. The girl serving (who seemed to have a foreign accent) seemed to enjoy the word no...no toilets, no WiFi, no white bread, she also could not smile much!!! Not the cheapest and the Scottish breakfast was just average along with the tea and coffee. The cook lady was maybe Australian, didn't seem to be enjoying her job either. The food was average, service about the same, not as expensive as other local cafes, but...would not return unless only cafe open.

We visited today, a beautifully hot and sunny day in Pitlochry. As you can imagine the cafe was very busy. We got a table but it was unclear that we had to order at the counter - no signs and no direction from the staff. It was also baking hot inside (no pun intended!) And no fans etc - the ceiling fan wasn't on and really needed to be. Anyway I ordered and paid up front at the till. Food is standard fare, although my tuna and mozzarella panini was actually very nice. I'd like to point out that the difference between sit in and take away prices is significant. A slice of millionaires shortbread for example is £1 to take away and £1.70 when sitting in. Significant difference when there's four of you!. We took ours away! However, this bakery is great if you want a cheaper option. Pitlochry is a tourist town and prices are steep so this place is ideal for a nice average lunch on the go.

Having a walk around the shops in this area we [ four of us ] decided it was time to be fed and watered so looking at the outside menu we stopped at the Mackenzie Bakery. It was nothing out of the ordinary , we had jacket potatoes and cakes and coffees but while we were waiting for the order we decided to go to the toilet, alas we were told there was no toilets. We were directed to some much further down the road but we had already ordered our food and our too old partners with walking sticks thought they had found a decent resting place for a while. How are they allowed to operate without toilets? To top it all the only vacant seats were rickety wobbling tables outside. It was a big mistake, we should have asked if there were any toilets before we ordered but you just take it for granted that all refreshment places have toilets don't you?

We swung through Pitlochry on our drive from Scone Palace to Blair Castle. It was lunchtime, and we were in the mood for soup and/or sandwich. Mackenzie's Bakery was the perfect fit.I ordered their Bacon Brie Cranberry Panini for a light lunch. It was sweet and savory at the same time, and the creamy brie was tasty too. Their warm homemade ciabatta was crisp and delicious. I think a little red onion on the sandwich would have made it even better. We stopped here for lunch last Sunday and I could say it was okay. We had soup, cream of broccoli as the lentil and bacon was finished. It was nice but was really a country veg, definitely not broccoli, though it had broccoli in it! My partner had a cheese and pickle toastie which looked nice and I wanted a chicken mayo panini, which they did not have. They did not appear to make the toasters/paninis to order but they were already sealed in plastic and if they did not have what you wanted, it could not be made up for you. I settled for an Italian chicken which had pesto and cheese but I didn't really enjoy it, was pretty tasteless and dry. I asked for coleslaw but they didn't have any. This could just be due to it being winter and a Sunday. We had tea and a diet coke which came to £15. I didn't feel it was good value and we would have had a better lunch in the very well known bakery chain sit in section, 2 doors down for half the price. We actually went there for a yummy cake that cost 65p each as opposed to the £2.50 per cake we would have been charged in the tearoom. We were served by a middle aged blonde lady who could have been a lot friendlier and should have smiled a lot more. I don't think I would return, go somewhere else instead!

We arrived around 2pm for some lunch. The baguettes in the fridge, ready to be grilled, looked a little anaemic and pale, but we figured they would toast OK and there wasnt much else to choose from. Signs around the store said baguettes were from 3.10. We decided a couple of coffees for the road would be good, and ordered 2 cappucinos to go. My brother liked the look of a donut, so that joined our order.14 pounds please, says the girl...we looked at each other...how could it be 14 pounds for two baguettes, 2 coffee (2 pound ea) and a 1 pound donut! That means the baguettes were 4.50 each!!!!! Whatever, we were tired and hungry, so we just paid and left.Oh my god. My baguette was ham and mozzarella cheese. There was so much melted cheese oozing out of it, I had to pull some off so I could even taste the thin sliver of ham inside. Yuck and it was tasteless cheese too...I only ate half, threw the rest away. And the COFFEE!!!! And I use the term "cappucino" loosely here, because this shot of espresso had been drowned in about 250ml of boiling hot milk. There was a barely discernible trace of coffee flavour left once it cooled to less than molten and I could taste it. I threw that away too.Donut was stale, must have been yesterdays. Very much regret stopping here. We could have had a sit down meal in the pub for only a few dollars more and would have been able to enjoy it. Keep on driving my friends...

Stopped for a cup,of tea and a cake. Quickly told to sit anywhere as the cafe was not busy. A bubbly waitress took our order of a pot of tea and a Mango Tango flavoured tea, a cake and a scone. Drinks arrived but the milk for the tea had turned. It was quickly replaced along with a second pot of tea free of charge. (Never going to be able to drink all that tea) The Mango Tango tea was fabulous. We had to go and ask if we could have our cakes as they had forgotten. The cakes were very very nice. So apart from the dodgy milk and memory, it was very nice.
