Visited for the second time. The feather blade beef melted in our mouths. Absolutely delicious. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and will return.

Lovely spot right on "The Mile". Very convenient, good service and the food - AMAZING. The salmon was perfect as was the steak my husband had - and the sticky toffee pudding was sublime. We would go back for sure if in Edinburgh again.

My husband and I went on an Itison deal - this was our third visit for dinner . The Cullen Skink was delicious as was the salmon and trout pate starter . Fish and chips were fabulous as was the roast salmon. First class service and we will be back . Highly recommended

Personnel plutôt sympa. La saucisse était bonne mais très grasse (genre, plus que les alsaciennes, j'ai l'impression) avec des bouts de cartilage. Comme toujours en UK, la sauce qui accompagne était un délice. Malheureusement, la purée n'était pas à mon goût. Tarifs corrects.

On a Friday evening in late November we called into Mackays without a booking. We were with our two sprocker spaniel dogs, one is 3 years old and the other is 4 months. We were greeted by a member of staff who kindly guided us to a table towards the rear of the restaurant area which was great for the dogs. We were served by Callum who was very friendly and helpfully described some of the main dishes to us. We had fish & chips, beef burger cheese & bacon with fries, and two pies & mash with vegetables. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake, and chocolate brownie (each with ice cream). The food was lovely. We also were served by Eavey who the dogs took a shine to especially the 3 months old who she was great with. So special thanks to Callum and Eavey for making our time in Mackays really enjoyable. We returned the following evening. While Eavey was on a day off Callum served us and again we really enjoyed our time in Mackays. I cannot recommend Mackays enough for people with dogs and an evening meal (they also serve breakfast and lunch).

TATI is amazing lovely girl and so welcoming !! Made the experience so much more worth while and as a whole just a lovely place to be !!

Fantastic Scottish cuisine, great menu options, excellent customer service, would definitely recommend this place, only thing I could fault is the lighting, it’s difficult to read the menu but torch in my phone solves the issue.

This was my first time coming to Mackays and the service was great. The waiting staff were attentive. The food was great, we ordered salmon, risotto and fish and chips and the portions were large and good value for money. The venue itself is also really nice - would recommend

The vibe of this restaurant is awesome. Perfect for a beer out on the sidewalk or delicious food inside. The manager is onsite. The location is perfect.

Liked the look of the menu, so we came back for lunch. The Cullen skink was amazing, I also had the haggis spring rolls,I couldn’t finish them. We came back on our last night for more soup, we enjoyed it so much.

Extremely unfriendly service. Apparently it was too slow for her because I was the only customer at that moment. But you probably need a few seconds to at least look at the range. Then I was served the piece of cake with just a knife.

Really poor service and so-so food. You could sit in a seat for ages before any waiting staff would bother to ask if you needed anything.

Such a cute cafe with a lot of natual light. They had a great selection of cakes and sweet treats but we opted for scones and it was delicious!

Completely blocks the through way to council buildings. Absolutely no need for so many outside chairs etc as it's never busy.

We had afternoon tea here .the visit was really nice,but on leaving we had issues with paying.they had trouble with there card machines.i ended up paying twice for our bill. I contacted the manager Andrew and explained the problem .he just told me it was a bank issue and not there fault.at no stage of our conversation did the manager apologise for our inconvenience. Very poor customer service .won't be going back and have told friends and family to stay away. Shame cause the pub was very nice,just the managers lack of customer service

Fuimos a cenar anoche y de las diez mesas que tiene en el restaurante, aproximadamente solo tenía dos ocupadas. Nos sentaron en una mesa de dos, que no tenía lámpara en el techo y todo nublado, no veíamos ni la carta. Pedimos ponernos en otra mesa y aunque repito ..estaba vacío, no quiso ..nos fuimos. La noche anterior estuvimos viendo el partido de fútbol y hubo varias personas que se fueron también, por un motivo y otro, bastante grosero el responsable

Lovely but charge more than advertised. Picked up cupcakes which were delightful (and a very good size!) so I’d definitely recommend. The person serving was very friendly too.. appeared to be on their own so was busy but they acknowledged all new customers coming in the door, which I think is good customer service! However, Mimi’s needs to update prices advertised. I was charged £4 each but on the wall it was £3.50 takeaway. I did mention it to the person serving but they just shrugged their shoulders and said sorry. It was fine, it was a couple of pounds, but if they’re charging more, it should be reflected in menus/signage.

Would go back for the French toast - so much bacon per portion and maple syrup, was very generous! The brownie was average - more chocolate cake than brownie with little chocolate flavour. Overall, good not great

Good scones, the fruit scone wasn’t served with real jam, more like a fruit purée. The 2 stars was for the absolutely miserable service we received, like we weren’t welcome, we ate and left quickly, no thank you or goodbye from the waitress as we left. Not a great start to a day out in Edinburgh

Went to two of the bakeries near the station- quite disappointed with the selection as social Media shows that it’s a lot, but going into the bakeries- there was only a few selections- the cake itself was nice but the icing tasted stale on both cupcakes I bought. My friend overhyped this place!!

Excellent Sticky Toffee Cupcake!

Arrived early Monday morning for breakfast. Sat in a quiet spot and ordered 2x coffees and 2x eggs benidict. The team was friendly. Nice clean place. The husband used the bar Saturday morning and said the lady was knowledgeable about whisky, and he enjoyed some toast,coffee, and a whisky. Not busy here, which was good for us as our hotel was just over the road from here.

Beautiful pastries - the ones containing chocolate gave me the feeling they contain more chocolate than every chocolate bar I ever ate. Highly recommended.

Lovely atmosphere and the friendliest staff. The food was truly delious and entire every bite. The fries were out of this world and would recommend the cheese and ham focaccia. Portion size is great and we all left pleasantly full

Mixed feelings. Mimi’s offers decent coffee and brownies, but the experience was marred by disappointing service. Despite arriving well before closing, we were denied restroom access and told no more patrons could be seated by 16:10, though the cafe closes at 17:00.

Cozy little bakery with few places to sit in or take away. We trier cupcakes, fruit scones and tea. The fruit scone was warm, very nice! It tasted a little like christmas because of cinnamon in it. The cupcakes were also good but very sweet, typical british i think. The service was very very friendly, a big plus! You can even use the staff toilet, because there are no public ones.

Starting with the food, we both had Scottish breakfasts with avocado as an extra which they accommodated even though it wasn’t on the menu. A very slight downside was that my wife asked for her egg to be very well done as she won’t eat eggs with a runny yolk…. Unfortunately her egg came out still quite runny. The reason this is 5 star instead of 4 star is because of the service from the Slovakian waitress (sorry didn’t catch her name). She was so nice and helpful and made us feel welcome. It was quiet around 11.45 with nice background music. Would recommend.

Slow service, ran out of some items by 1:30, inattentive servers, unless you were drinking your lunch at the bar, and just a general disinterest or neglect by management. Food was off-temperature and maybe(?) average, nothing to write home about.

Fantastic little cake and coffee shop. Not much seating inside but takeaway always a good option. We loved all the cakes but especially enjoyed the Carrot Cake Muffin and warm scone with cream and jam. Coffee was great and service was fantastic, a must visit when in Edinburgh.

Jack was an amazing waiter give him a raise the service was excellent and so was the food I shall be back very soon. He was telling me about his guitar playing and opening up to certain things in life what a man

Arrived at 4:16 and they had closed and locked the door for dine in even though their hours says open until 5pm. I had walked over from New Town. Why have operating hours if you’re just going to close whenever you feel like it?

We ran it to get away from the rain and enjoyed a cake stop (09-02-24) The BEST plain scone 😍 warmed with jam and clotted cream. We would recommend ⭐️

Lovely place. Comfortable and very friendly staff. Went for an afternoon tea which was excellent. We had sandwiches, scones with cream and an amazing selection of cakes. Great value for money. We will definitely return.

Visited for breakfast. Friendly and efficient staff, nice ambiance, good coffee and all good quality breakfast ingredients on the traditional breakfast. Used an Itison voucher which turned out to be excellent value. Would definitely recommend.

Visited with friend. Lovely staff. Next to 2 very loud women that spoilt the ambiance. Starter scotch egg was gorgeous, then had one of the specials. salmon and basil linguine absolutely swimming in oil. Not what l expected, wasted half of it.

Visited here for our evening meal on day 2 of our visit to Edinburgh & wish we had found this place sooner. Beautifully cooked food, with great staff. We will be making sure we have a table booked the next time we visit!

This place is like stepping into the 1970s! The food is Scottish comfort food. The servers are very friendly and helpful. There is an upstairs seating area,so they can accommodate many customers at once. The haggis is particularly good.

Nice place for breakfast that is part of a food chain but doesn't feel at all like one. We got in late-ish in the morning and so not all of the food options were available. Still, the counter was full of appealing pastries. I opted for a fruit scone that was tasty and arrived warm (super plus!). I didn't like much that the cream was so thick that I could not spread it on the scone without making a mess with the scone crumbling between my fingers. Service was fast and delivered with a smile. The bathrooms are not in the most comfortable place: to reach them one has to basically enter the kitchen/warehouse area.

La comida buena, francamente, el servicio amable, muy servicial.. la organización pésima, no, lo siguiente..horrible,no tengo palabras para explicar, todas las mesas afectadas, esperas de 1 hora o incluso superando la 1:40 h, y sin plato en la mesa, excusas banales, que si el servicio era nuevo, que si no daban abasto... quita! si habían unas 30 mesas, ocupadas tenían la mitad, el desorden era absurdo... volver? jamás! Les falta un árbitro, cocineros y dejar de servir las bebidas, vaso a vaso, eso si es que llegan..

A small dreamy cafe with incredibly friendly staff. The cake was perfect and the cappuccino was delicious. The ambience is exactly what you would imagine from a small, dreamy cafe, a few seats and staff who simply enjoy the guests and their work. We'll definitely come back in the next few days.

Went for a christmas stay in Edinburgh, had a meal the night before and it was so good we came back again for Breakfast! The decorations make bring a really festive feel to the place. In a great location as it’s only a 5 minute walk from Waverley train station. Highly recommend!

We visited here on a Saturday morning for breakfast, using an Itison voucher. We booked in advance. Our table was ready on arrival, and we were promptly given menus. We both ordered full Scottish breakfasts with a pot of tea for two. The food was good, although some of it wasn’t very hot, but the quality was good, and there was plenty. All in all we had a good experience, and the Itison deal was definitely good value. Service was also nice and friendly.

Um bei einem Rundgang auf der RoyalMile mal kurz Luft zu holen und entspannt einen Tee zu trinken ist der Platz ideal. Die angebotenen Törtchen sind sehr lecker. Ein ehrliches kleines Café ohne den üblichen Schnick-Schnack 👍

Been bookmarking this bakehouse since I arrived at Edinburgh. Located near royal mile and ordered hot choco which was good! The staff was helpful and friendly as the ambience was chill and cozy.

Mimi’s is a great place for scrumptious scones and delicious tea. We’ll certainly be coming back when we return to Edinburgh!

Cute little cafe, a nice stop/rest after walking through the royal mile.. The staff was helpful in choosing what I want to order! She said the raspberry brownie was the best seller so I tried it. It was dense but not too sweet, not too bitter, just right. I can taste the hint of raspberry. It is very nice and complimenting to have it with hot tea in the midst of windy day… next time I’ll try the scone as it seems to be their other best seller.

For those talking early morning cruise tours and getting dropped off at the castle to walk the Royal Mile .. this is a perfect stopping point! Quaint and cozy bakery with a wide variety of pastries and Scottish Scones. I had the cheese and chives scone. Flakey outside and soft, moist inside!

Mimis is a great little cafe on the Royal Mile to stop for a coffee and a delicious slice of cake. We tried the new mint brownie which was very tasty and a sticky toffee cupcake (in our opinion, the best cupcake they do) It is a small cafe so you may not always get a table, but it is just as easy to takeaway and enjoy at home!

A delicious cafe in the middle of the Royal Mile. We stopped for breakfast, excellent hot drinks at a good price. The toasted sandwich was expensive but excellent, with good quality ingredients.

We had some hot chocolates and two cupcakes from here and they were delicious and the staff were lovely. I would recommend coming here for a little treat throughout the day but you may need to buy it to takeaway as they were very busy inside.

Went here for drinks and cakes as we had been told it's an amazing place to be. I think it's a bit overhyped for the actual quality. We had two cupcakes which were too sweet and really made us feel a bit queezy. The carrot cupcake had a nice spice flavor but no hint of carrot taste or any carrots inside. They were nice and moist though, not dry which is good. The icing was just to sweet. Nothing special about the drinks, basic sodas, nothing original or different. We had to ask to get a cup, which was plastic. It's a shame they didn't give us a glass or even a paper cup and we therefore had to contribute to using plastic. The inside is not the nicest decoration wise, it feels all cramped up. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place or go again. There's better places. It's also a bit pricey, £3.50 for a samll cupcake when you can usually spend £4 on a big slice of cake at other places. I'm not sure who gave them an award for being best in Edinburgh. I've been to a lot more better places.

I went there simply to get a cupcake for my birthday, but they lighted a candle and sang happy birthday for me turning the whole experience on the sweetest core memory. It’s a tiny magical place, their cupcakes are a delight and the coffee is amazing! The staff were always kind and helpful with everyone that came in. I wish I could give more stars 🥹

The staff were very welcoming and offered suggestions about their favourite items to order. The eat-in area is cute and cozy. Small but perfect. I ended up with a fruit stone with jam and cream, although I was highly tempted by the entire menu. The coffee was just what I needed to start my day. Highly recommended.

Wir hatten hier den Cream Tea und Scones und es war alles wirklich super lecker!!! Wir mussten etwas länger warten bis alles fertig war, aber das Warten wurde mit ausgezeichneter Qualität und Geschmack belohnt. Wir kommen gerne beim nächsten Urlaub wieder.

I loved stopping here for tea! The floral green tea was very nice. I got the cream egg cupcake mostly for novelty, but it was actually a delicious lava cake. It's a small shop so it might be full at times, but if you can get a seat then it's a great place to go.

Wonderful little cafe in the heart of the city! We stopped here for a coffee and a scone. It was our first time trying out a scone in Scotland and it did not disappoint. They warmed up the scone (cheddar/olive) and brought it out with a side of butter. We thought it was delicious! The cappuccino was also delicious as it was smooth and not bitter at all. I highly recommend everyone pay a visit to this location!

Great place for delicious bakery items Bought the sticky toffee cupcake (very tasty but could do with less frosting on the top) Got also a fruit scone which was nice, light texture but would have loved more raisins inside. Got a cappuccino which was perfect Overall, definitely a good place to have some delicious sugary food

We were on an Easter Break in Edinburgh. Made an effort to go into this cafe the next day after passing through one evening when it was closed. Coffee and juice were fine. Service was with no smile and we had to clear the table after previous customer so that we could use the table. There was no acknowledgement at all.

Cafetería pequeña pero con encanto. Los cupcakes están muy ricos y tienen mucha variedad de sabores. La dependienta es muy atenta y simpática, pese a que no sabía español, se esforzó mucho en entendernos a la hora de pedir los cafés. También ponen los pastelitos para llevar en cajitas monisimas
