This is an amazing venue offering so much to the visitor. Excellent cafe, great exhibitions and events, cinema, nice little shop and also Cannon Hill Park to wander around in.

This cafe could be so much better. We sat at the main larger cafe, but picked up some sandwiches from the smaller cafe. These sandwiches were dreadful. Dry and downright weird tasting. The lemon and poppy seed muffin was horrendously dry and tasted strangely fake. Please up your game. The MAC is a lovely place, but the food is horrendous.

We paid £70 for Grayson Perry inspired afternoon tea. It was served at a different time to our tea. It was stale, it was odd tasting. Very disappointing. Don’t waste your money!

Mac Cafe Buena comida pero cara para lo que es. La espera de comida es absolutamente ridícula. ¡Esperamos más de 45 minutos para que llegara la comida y el café ni siquiera estaba tan ocupado! There are many poor reviews of the Mac centre but they seem to have once again got it right at their latest Gin And Jazz night. Greeted with an included cocktail which was actually pretty good the food was a ‘sharing tray’ with a warm Brie, selections of meats and cheeses served with sourdough and salad with sun dried tomato. Actually very acceptable and plenty for two unless you’re very hungry! A drinks menu was varied and at reasonable prices though the drinks service is quite slow. We had heard the jazz quartet before at a previous similar event but on this occasion they were far ‘tighter’ and their music most enjoyable and varied without being too ‘purist’. As has been mentioned before the parking is not free but is at a fixed charge and costs a lot less than a short visit to its centre or even a local hospital! I’d certainly recommend these events though so book early as tables are a little limited.

I had the scrambled egg on toast and some tea pigs following an enjoyable park run around cannon hill park. Would definitely visit again and recommend the cafe for a breakfast

My only advice would be to never, ever visit the cafe at lunch time during a school holiday. Why is it that some parents seem incapable of controlling their offspring and allow them to shriek, shout, race around the tables and spoil everyone else's meal? This is unacceptable behaviour. The food we ordered was okay/perfectly edible and reasonably priced for freshly cooked food. The child's lunch (Choice 2 off the menu) was healthy and really rather good. The Lashford sausage was excellent as was the mash and the medley of vegetables was appealing. However everything was cold within minutes. It's a pity the veg wasn't served in a separate ramekin to keep it warmer longer.

Came New Year’s Day for some family time but first, quick lunch in the MAC to start. 11:50 walked in. “No food on today - kitchen will open as normal 2nd jan”. Great start. Close the kitchen when everyone is off work and open in when they are in work. Perfect business sense. The only food available was about 8 sandwiches in the chiller. Kids menu available - any 5 item for I think £5.45. Well - there wasn’t 5 items to even choose from so that went well. Scraped 4 together doubling up on cheese triangle and yoghurt, asked at till “can they have a pack of your crisps or something as you don’t have anything there”. Simple request. Easy fix .... “No”. If we had quavers I’d do it but I’m not doing it with the normal crisps. Frigging joke service. Sandwiches were pathetic for price. Bread and meat in a box. No salad. Garnish. No nothing. These “kids meals”, 2 sandwiches 2 reg hot drinks and cake came to £23. Rip off. I’m sure it’s fine when they open the kitchen but this is basic stuff and a simple customer service request easily solved. There is nowhere else to buy food at Canon Hill so was stuck. Don’t bank on this place to fill your needs. Avoid

I go here to study once a week but really like the place. Great place for a day out and children's activities. They have a bar and restaurant to eat in which can be a little over priced but really nice food. Bar service is great with a full range of drinks

We had been at cannon hill park all day, and we actually only popped into the Mac to use the toilets. I knew they did food, but thought it was just sandwiches, so because it was early evening and we had to get home yet, I said I would get my children sandwiches. They actually did a meal deal for the children, a sandwich, fruit, yoghurt, drink and soreen bar for just under £5. I was going to get them that then o noticed the hot food menu on the wall, so thought they may as well have dinner there. My 9yr old had a margherita pizza, which had about 10 small slices, it was very yummy. My 5yr old had a meal option, which was pizza fingers which came with 2 sides, and she chose chips and garlic bread. Her pizza wasn't that nice, was just one of those small round ones that they cut into long pieces. They closed the restaurant whilst we were eating, so people couldn't buy anything, but those that were eating were fine in the dining area. I'm not sure if the dining area is cleaned throughout the day, but we went to sit at a few tables, that had food on it, on the chairs, on the floor where your feet would be, so we had to look for a cleaner table area to sit at. You could get a variety of hot and cold drinks, and they also had a water fountain. There were desserts, snacks like cheese on toast, and they did a breakfast menu for the mornings. Staff were friendly, only one till so a bit of a wait to order food, but it didn't take long to come out to us.

Arriving at the park we went straight to the MAC Cafe for a hot chocolate. Perusing the menu displayed, there seemed to be something for everyone. Footfall generally seemed intermittent, however, when there was an influx of visitors they didn't cope well with the dispensing of hot drinks. A pleasant area to enjoy a drink and snack.

Parking charges as of this week the MAC has now lost a long time customer. No justification for this other than greed.

Visited for breakfast on a busy weekend. My order was rung through the till incorrectly, which I did not query as I thought perhaps everything that was the same price came up as the same on the till (I have used similar POS systems). When my partner's breakfast arrived it was the wrong dish. I politely pointed out to the guy who brought it out that it was wrong and he picked up the plate and stormed off with it while I was still speaking without even letting me finish my sentence. He then stormed back up to the table a minute later with the receipt from the kitchen as if to make a point of showing that it was me that was in the wrong, and not them, as the order had come through to the kitchen incorrectly. I pointed out that it was not my fault if the person at the till had misheard me and that I didn't particularly like someone walking away from me while I was talking to them, which was extremely rude. Eventually the mistake was rectified but the attitude of this individual quite frankly stank. If he can't deal with a polite complaint I dread to think how he'd deal with a rude customer. I get that it was busy and the people working there probably aren't paid a lot (they may even be volunteers for all I know), but you simply can't have this kind of attitude in a customer service environment. Extremely poor, and I won't be going back for a good while, despite being at Cannon Hill Park very often.

I used this facilty when ever I wam down in Cannon hill park which is everyweekend or summer daily evenings. tea, coffee and cakes as well as meals are their to be enjoyed. friendly service though a bit pricey!

I come here not infrequently as it is the closest place to eat near my daughter's school. It is fine if you just want a piece of cake and a coffee.The meals however are consistently poor.with very slow service.Very few low carb or gluten free...

You can tell this building is run by Birmingham City Council as soon as you walk in. Toilets are dirty and unclean, leaking taps and urinals. Litter on the floor, no atmosphere, staff don't really care. I think the redesign of this building is also...

There's a couple of exhibitions worth visiting and plenty of courses happening in the many large and small spaces available. There's a good open feel to the interior but don't bother eating there. My fish and chips were appalling and costly.

Bean chilli was bland: unable to detect any chilli. Falafel and spinach burger was dry, tasteless, barely warm, with no sign of any veg other than the chips. Couldn't finish the meal. Coffee was fine. Staff were friendly.

A cool place to have lunch in the Canon Hill Park. Sandwiches, salads, soup, chili - interesting choices and not expensive at all. Decent coffee as well. Busy but friendly atmosphere. I had beetroot salad and it was very good.
