Lupo in Bury

Beautiful place and wonderful staff, but if you know good food, this place is extremely disappointing. Extortionate for the quality and completely inauthentic. Microwaved, bland frozen broccoli. Stale fried calamari. Ravioli and pizza were just okay, could find food like that in cheap town locations. Pastries/desserts were nice! But also extremely overpriced. Many of the staff/possibly the chefs seemed like teenagers? Hoping we just went on a bad day but seems like overhyped visually aesthetic viral insta place with bad food - sold to people who are easily influenced/aren't foodies. Love the interior and the vision though!!!! Just was kinda hoping for the passion behind the food that Sparrows has as a "hidden gem" kinda place. Paid £96 for 2 mains, 2 starters + olives (£5?!), 2 drinks, 1 dessert and 2 pastries.

We recently visited, and it was a fantastic experience! My partner, who loves Italian food, was thrilled with the authentic menu, while I was pleased to find some great gluten-free pasta options. The pasta was absolutely delicious, though you can’t make modifications to the dishes, so be sure to choose carefully! I had a coffee, which was smooth and well-made, though only oat and regular milk were available, and I didn’t spot any dairy-free dessert options. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making for a pleasant meal. If you’re planning to go with a large group, I’d recommend booking in advance, as it can get busy. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and we’re definitely planning to return! (££)

Great hidden place with lovely setup, reasonable price and variety menu. Coffee is above average and pasta is par with large Italian restaurants. Will try their dessert next time!

Lupo Caffè Italiano is a hidden gem, tucked away but well worth the effort to find. I visited for lunch and enjoyed delicious coffee, cakes, and food. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. The cosy atmosphere and excellent food make this a spot I’ll definitely return to. A true delight in a somewhat secluded location!

Great little place for Italian pasta . Had the lobster ravioli the sauce is so unctuous and not like the overly creamy ones in town . Great service, highly recommend this place instead of the usual town places

Pretty disappointing. Arancini was bland and a quite pathetic portion of gnocchi for 20quid! Carbonara was nice and so was pizza but again… pricey!

Quirky small cafe with restaurant prices,food was tasty but small portions for the price,staff were nice but had to ask for side plates for sharing pizza she brought one but needed two,we expected parmesan to be offered for our pasta dishes as is usually done in Italian restaurants,nice selection of cakes but expensive .

Having read reviews about this cafe on social media we were keen to visit for ourselves and it did not disappoint. Parking was easily available and the outdoor area is pretty and inviting. The interior is delightful and instantly transforms you. The counter is set our with the most beautiful presentation of pastries. We had pastries and coffee. Both delicious. We stayed for an hour and easily could have stayed longer. It is such a warm, inviting space.

Very busy when we went at 5.30 pm. They had difficulty coping I think. My cacio pepe was a very small, dry portion of vermicelli with clumps of pepper and cheese fused together. My wife had to wait over 20 minutes after the rest of us for her main course - a pata and pork dish she liked. One of my son's had a pizza which was very nice. The other had a dry (no pasta water?) carbonara. Starters of calamari and arancini were ok.We had some cakes afterwards and they were lovely. So a real mixed bag food wise.

We played with our band in Lupo for a private event and we had a blast. The owner was super nice to us and the food was absolutely fantastic ! Great idea to have an outdoor party like you see in Tuscany!

I was occasionally in Manchester with friends and happened to come across Lupo! Omg ! As an Italian I wish we had Lupo in London, food is so genuinely Italian, I felt like I was back in Italy. We tried everything ! 😅😅 Best breakfast ever !!!

Don’t come here with babies or young children, no attempt to accommodate them in any way - was even forced to change my baby outside on the floor of the industrial estate

We came last year and the prize are over the roof now. 3 cappuccino, 3 bomboloni and 2 small calzoni. 35 pounds.

We’ve been here a couple of times for dinner now and highly recommend. On our last visit, we also bought some of the homemade biscuits which we took to take away - they were delicious! 10/10

Lovely, tiny café, inviting as you walk into the sight & smell of freshly baked Italian pastries. The spinach cannelloni & pistachio cake were particularly good. Nice people running it, friendly atmosphere.

Charming Italian cafe with friendly service. can get crowded so I’d suggest making reservations if you’re visiting during lunch/dinner. We enjoyed the coffee, hot chocolate, pizza and pastries/tiramisu. Expect to wait a little bit if you have mains (hot food). Will definitely visit again!

Beautiful coffee and doughnuts, devoured 2 could have had 6! All the pastries clearly made with passion in house by Nico. Forget the big chains this will be my go-to place in Prestwich now. I'm looking forward to trying the food.

Was abit expensive, but overall just like being back in Rome and definitely worth a second try.

The most delicious Italian baked goods! We came here just for cakes but ended up getting a fried calzone too, all of which were very well made and so tasty. The girls behind the counter were very friendly, even gave our dog some treats. We are most definitely coming back to try the main menu, and raid the rest of the cake fridge!

5 stars for all the lovely and friendly staff alone! They have lots of lovely Roman treats (suppli, cacio e pepe, carbonara, amatriciana) and other lovely pasta and pizza dishes too. Weekly specials included the best fried mozzarella I’ve had. We also had the calamari, suppli, seafood spaghetti and the gnocchi with butter and Parmesan. Everything was really tasty, especially the pasta. And the maritozzi was delicious too. We even had a new San Pelli flavour (pomegranate and orange 👌🏻) Have also had their pizzas delivered a few times and they were fantastic. Having Lupo is an asset to the area, real Italian food and vibes 🥰 🇮🇹

Amazing food,great knowledge on wine... Quirky fun place.

As a born and raised Italian from Milano I feel like the place is overrated. People are very nice. The aperitivo is amazing don’t get me wrong. Some desserts and coffee are decent. Unfortunately I can’t recommend the pizza, if you want to eat a proper pizza go to “l’antica pizzeria da Michele” I hope the owner will try to review the doughs of the brioche and of the focaccia. The dough is not raised at all and too dense.

I have visited here several times even though its a 40 minute drive away from my home to taste the best food and drink in Manchester. Everything I have tasted from the coffee, beer, wine, cakes and paste are absolutely delicious! It is worth the trip every time. I can't recommend this place enough. The staff are really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Thank you once again ❤️😋

I went to this restaurant 4 times and 3 of them times they tried to scam me by adding extra onto their tip so if you go here then check before paying. I wouldnt recommend

Down to earth, neighbourhood Italian caffe with pastries to die for. It's an Italian caffe managed and run by an Italian. Don't be misled by the location: This is an industrial state garage adapted for a small caffe. But it's simple, devoted of fancy stuff. The food speaks for itself and will make you come back for sure

An absolutely beloved gem!! We don't go here often because it's a little far for us, but we love it every time. Staff is wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. I would heavily recommend their pizzas; while they don't have a ton of vegetarian options, just the base margarita is amazing. There's not a lot of seating indoors, but I know it can't really be helped. At least during the warmer months you can sit outside, where there's plenty of space.

Really looked forward to visiting here after reviews and write ups. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. Service was incredibly slow, took over 45 mins for 2 pizzas to be made (worrying) There is no drinks menu and they try to upsell a wine, stating everyone is drinking it...there's no wonder, they force it on you. No prices displayed. Pizza finally arrived and was tasteless, it was missing the key topping. the reaction was as if I was in the wrong... I was offered a new pizza but declined given I waited 45 min for that one. Was told ok no problem then told by another member of staff it was being made... I cancelled it again. Upon payment I said I didn't have that pizza and was told I should pay as I eat one slice!? Then they pretended they couldn't understand me. Starters are also bland and tasteless, we tried two of the croquette style starters. You only get one for £5+... Total rip off and literally no taste. Would not recommend going here. It's on an industrial estate, prices are more than going to a nice restaurant in the city centre (and substantially more than Rudy's where you know it's going to be good quality). Service was poor and slow. Felt like we were being forced to buy the wines and additional starters.... Certainly would not recommend.

We went for dinner here this evening due to my partner wanting to try it for awhile, it was beyond beautiful and didn't expect it. The staff were friendly, very interactive and suggested great wine for us to try when one was sold out. The wine was to die for and will definitely be back for more. We had a small plate to accompany the wine and the little calzones were a little pocket of heaven, we hadn't had food this nice on our recent trip to Italy. We enjoyed it so much we stayed for mains and a few extras, good portion sizes, great flavour and all went really well together. Can honestly say it's the best meal I've had eating out in a long time and we will definitely be back. Partner snuck some desserts home but could have come away with the whole counter. I've been here twice in the space of two weeks. They have a good selection of pastries and cakes and pizza and pasta and sides if you fancy some lunch/dinner. The dining area is quite small. Service was good, staff are very friendly. Card payments only. Dried pasta and food available to purchase. We tried the pasta on our first visit and the margherita pizza on our second visit.

Lupo is THE definition of hidden gem - you have to want to go there, as it's tucked away from anywhere. The team are super friendly, and no kidding, their range of freshly made donuts are mind-blowing. I'm not a sweet-tooth, but they're something else. The coffee is spectacular, I understand blended on the premises. They also sell authentic italian cooking ingredients. Try this and prove me right.

Highly recommended 5* Update Dec 22' Finally got round to tasting the wonderful pizza at Lupo. Its definitely the best pizza I've ever tasted, everything was so so fresh and tasty. I highly recommend. Very easy to communicate over WhatsApp, get your orders in!

my wife and I met for an impromptu dinner in this bar, captured by the name that evokes Italian pleasures. The dishes have a summary appearance and an equally bland taste, censored if considered typically Italian. An experience not to be repeated at all. Never!

If you’ve not found Lupo yet, make sure you get down to Prestwich. What a place. Very friendly and had a family feel. Doughnuts are excellent, pastries too. We’ve had pizza, coffee, aranchini, all of it excellent. A must visit

Superb spot - reliable and quality food since their days on Chapel St. Manchester (and Salford!) would be much the better if we had a few more spots like this. Great savoury options, fantastic pastries, good and well chosen selection of drinks. All served with a smile.

The lady serving is very nice but unfortunately their cappuccino is tepid, probably as they use luke warm milk - either that or the coffee machine could be faulty. And it takes along time to make the coffee, but that's probably the coffee machine. You have to go there with a car because it's not a pleasant area to walk around (trading estate with dodgy looking businesses). Case in point, there's a "hydroponics" shop round the corner that's frequented by "gardners" who drive up carelessly in aggressive looking cars with tinted windows.😳😳

Proper little gem of a place. Tucked away in an trading estate in Sedgley Park just before Prestwich. I've popped here a few times for a takeaway coffee or enjoyed doughnuts from other local Prestwich cafes but today was the first time we sat in and enjoyed a proper bit of lunch. We enjoyed the carbonara and shared an arancini along with a beer. Then both had a pastry, mine was chantilly cream with a morello cherry and was amazing. Great service and we'll be popping back for more lunches.

Lupo makes good coffee and delicious donuts. It's located in a bit if a remote location but they have seating inside and parking outside. Highly recommend their amareno donut. They already have savoury pastries like mini pizza, and arancini.
