Second visit. And please sort your staff out! Couldn’t be more disinterested in keeping customers happy! An opinion shared with the 2 tables next to us. Had to ask for cutlery when told she would bring us some, no no apologies for being left waiting and just a very miserable moody atmosphere. Food was average this time. Although the starters were lovely and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Just please please please get some staff who have some people skills. It literally made us want to leave asap and not return which is a shame.

Okay food, abysmal service. 2nd time here, first visit was good which is why we returned, however things seem quite bad now. From the moment we arrived, we were left waiting without acknowledgment and had to flag down staff ourselves to get a table. We were seated at a flimsy, unstable table in the outdoor structure, which added to the discomfort. Throughout the meal, we had to actively seek out staff for anything we needed as they seemed inattentive and unapproachable. Our starters arrived, but the server failed to bring cutlery. I had to go inside to ask for some, only to be met with a dismissive attitude as the server begrudgingly handed me the utensils. The table next to us also experienced poor service, as their mains were brought out while they were still eating their starters, leading to an awkward situation. As for the food, I ordered the tuna pizza, which was disappointingly soggy. With the server preoccupied in the car park on his phone, there was no chance to address the issue. We decided to simply finish our meal and request the bill, which surprisingly included a service charge. Given the dismal service, I refused to pay it. Overall, the dining experience was uncomfortable and far below expectations. Sadly, this visit has discouraged us from returning in the future.

It's overrated and I don't get why it's on the Good Food Guide. The coffee was well diluted and below average, for over £3. The prices are not only inflated, but also they charge you a 12% service charge for the service that doesn't really exist. Like someone said in their review, it's in an industrial estate, hasn't got a restaurant atmosphere, yet they charge more than Manchester city centre prices. I wouldn't recommend and won't be back.

Everything about this place is fantastic. Nico, the owner, is incredibly passionate about great food and great service. The pasta and pizza are excellent and your really can't go wrong with anything you choose, but the highlight is the desserts. The Mille foglie is as good as you'll get anywhere on the UK! It's a small place, and whether it's busy or not there's a great buzz. These kinds of venues need to be supported by the people of Manchester. They kick the crap out of places like San Carlo and Piccolino, as they're British representations of what Italian food is. This is the real deal, and it's serving the local community. Give it a tr, you won't regret it.!

After all the hype, with food and atmosphere we decided to try Lupo, yes food was excellent but the service was a big let down and the fact no provision for baby's seat being told that we cant place pram at the table as direct entry into kitchen. I'd have moved us to the outer area where it seemed a bigger spacious area. The dining room was small and cramped. Some of staff were good the others seemed very distracted. Which overall was a shame for such a niche place on an industrial estate

Lupo isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a middle finger to every watered-down “Italian” joint out there. This place gets it. The carbonara? No cream, no nonsense—just silky, salty perfection that’d make a Roman weep. Every bite was a mic drop. If you’re after real Italian food, not the tourist-trap version, Lupo’s your new religion.

Hi everyone! I have been on Thursday to Lupo with a friend and a pram because i have a small baby. They found us a place to seat fuming and not welcoming at all. After ordering the dessert and coffees took a while to come and it was not busy that day. After all of that they came a couple of times to our table telling us we need the table and told us to not come anymore there with the pram especially on busy days. So apparently mums with babies on the pram are not allowed he said on busy days only Wednesday and Thursday 3 o clock because is not very busy. I really didn’t like their attitude at all and just wanted to let all the mums know this information to not have the same experience as me .

Disappointingly average after all the hype we had seen and heard. MCR Finest has not helped Lupo and it is quite clear having chatted to the server that they could not cope with the influx of customers, at the detriment of the food. In terms of the restaurant itself, lovely traditional Osteria-style décor and atmosphere. Relatively small in size and quaint, bordering on snug: we were shoe-horned into the corner almost beside the till / counter itself. The food was okay. My Arancini starter felt rushed: hot and crisp exterior but soon uncovered a cold Bolognese and un-melted cheese core. Could have been delicious if it had been fried for longer rather than hastily expedited from ticket-to-table. My main and the most popular dish on the menu, Shin Beef Ragu and Gnocchi was adequate. I was expecting big things based on the recommendation from the server but it definitely fell short. AT least this dish was served hot. Service itself was lack-lustre also, failing to provide information and confidence-inspiring answers when questions on pretty common allergens. I'm half tempted to give the place a second chance when the new-found buzz dies down, but equally I feel there is better homely Italian restaurants around Greater Manchester which wouldn't give such doubt.

I was really hopeful that this place would be great but it lacked in every way possible. Signature gnocchi ragu looked like boiled fray bentos "stuff off nightmares" meat. Wait staff were randomly walking around auctioning off food to any table that would make eye contact. Asked for the bill, was told to go to the counter. Happily obliged but was ignored for 10 mins so thought I was mistaken so sat back down. My mum then asked to pay.. again , they asked us to stand at the counter where we watched the same waiter bottle up behind the bar and then proceed to start making drinks. I asked the manager if we could pay as my mother is disabled and we needed to get her back to her chair and he curtly responded that we haven't been waiting long and that we just stood up. He failed to notice that it was the second time we had attempted to pay. Awful experience. Cold, dank, dirty, and shitty attitude of manager. If you like unwiped plastic tablecloths and begging for your cutlery, go for it. Also, take your own napkin... didn't get one of those either.

Food was nice. The decoration was also cute and made it feel authentic (although this is essentially a restaurant / cafe in a warehouse). As the place is small, the tables/chairs are so close together that people are bumping to each other all the time. Service was suboptimal...the place was very busy and often had to go to the till to ask for something ....the worst thing though was when we first sat I asked for a diet coke, the waiter made the decision for me to get me an "organic cola" ..when I asked him about this drink whether it has sugar he confirmed there is even I asked for a diet drink!?.. I told him I don't want that drink and he proceeded to make another decision for a sparkling water for me without really asking me. That's not really how you ask for orders from a table! I found that quite an arrogant approach and ruined the experience for me from the start. Also at the end they charged us an extra cappuccino that we didn't order (honest mistake) so I had to also tell them about that.

Went as a group of 5 on a Sunday evening- very busy, buzzy atmosphere, nice homely decor feeling inside. Food was good but not exceptional. My friend and I shared the margarita pizza and the fennel sausage orechiette. The pizza was quite burnt around the crust , the pasta was lovely though- very al dente but I like it this way. service not so great, it took us ages to get somebody's attention to order. We asked a waitress if we could order and she bluntly said 'I don't do orders' so we asked her if she could get somebody else. She came across as rude; no smiling and whenever we asked her for something she just looked put out. She also didn't know what the dishes were, when she gave us the melazane parmigiana she thought it was lasagna which caused some confusion.

Lupo is quite simply my favourite place to eat. A hidden gem that I'm so grateful I discovered. Every time I visit I agonise over what I am going to choose and I am never disappointed. The menu is chocka with tantalising pasta and pizza dishes, as well as weekly specials... but then there is the counter of freshly baked produce too. I can't visit without getting one of the bolognese balls, which are made from a dough that is softer than I thought was physically possible. As for the selection of desserts, they are truly beautiful - both to the eye and the mouth. I would go as far as to say the tiramisu cheesecake is quite probably the best thing I have ever eaten. My only reservation about writing this is I don't want the place to get so popular that I can't get a seat. But when you love something as much as I love Lupo, you have to shout it from the rooftops.

I recently visited with a friend and her 3 month old baby, and it was a pretty unpleasant experience. The baby started crying (nothing out of the ordinary) but the staff started clearing our plates before we were done. They basically hinted that we should leave because it was getting busy, even though nobody was waiting to be seated. We told a staff member how uncomfortable this made us feel, but he didn't seem to care at all. No apology, nothing. It felt really unwelcoming, and it's clear that Lupo is not a good spot if you have kids who might make some noise. If you have young children, I'd suggest staying away. Clearly, this place isn't accommodating for little ones.

Lupo is an absolutely lovely little Italian café. It's tucked away on an industrial estate in Prestwich, and can be a bit hard to find. But once you get there, it's so worth the trip (I went back a week later). A little unassuming from the outside, once you go in you're greeted with a small but cosy and homely interior as well as lots of baked goods in a glass case. The people here are just as amazing as the food. All the staff are super friendly and gave us some good recommendations. The cappuccino and njuda bun I had on my first visit were divine, light and delicious I ended up having another coffee and then a custard pastry. On my second visit, we enjoyed the peppers, courgette flower fritters, and olives for starter, then the wild boar ragu and creamy mushroom pasta, all of which was delicious. We had a tiramisu to share for dessert, which just topped it all off. Both visits, I left feeling satisfied and I'm already planning my next trip!

Having a place in Italy and then coming back to England is so difficult to find an authentic Italian restaurant. Lupo is by far the best authentic Italian restaurant we have ever eaten in in England. The pasta is outstanding cooked perfectly and none of the bloating that normally comes with pasta. Perfecto. If you have a sweet tooth you will be blown away with the variety of scrumptious cakes, crostatine, doughnuts and biscotti. Obviously the coffee is as it should be excellent. It’s rustic inside and in an unusual place but that truly adds to the authentic feeling of Italy. The best places to eat are never on a high street you have to look for them and Lupo is no different. Go and enjoy this little gem.

Lupo has a delicious array of fresh cakes and pastries. They also sell fresh calzones and other items which are out of this world. My daughter had a small portion of Spaghetti Bolognaise which was really tasty. I’ve also been lucky enough to have food picked up from here for me. I visited with a friend and our 2 small children, 7 months and 16 months. They don’t offer any high chairs and we were put in a corner with a 2 seater table. It was a small area hemmed in with 2 buggies. When there were 2 x 4 seaters close by. One taken up by a member of staff with his laptop and another with a few pictures on it. We didn’t feel particularly comfortable crammed in a corner and the experience was made more difficult with no high chair for one of the small children. For these reasons I don’t feel it is child friendly. Which is such a shame as we could have both sat there enjoying a lot more food. Sadly I won’t be attending as a family again. There are many other places in Prestwich and Whitefield that can provide a much comfier experience as a family.

Beautiful place and wonderful staff, but if you know good food, this place is extremely disappointing. Extortionate for the quality and completely inauthentic. Microwaved, bland frozen broccoli. Stale fried calamari. Ravioli and pizza were just okay, could find food like that in cheap town locations. Pastries/desserts were nice! But also extremely overpriced. Many of the staff/possibly the chefs seemed like teenagers? Hoping we just went on a bad day but seems like overhyped visually aesthetic viral insta place with bad food - sold to people who are easily influenced/aren't foodies. Love the interior and the vision though!!!! Just was kinda hoping for the passion behind the food that Sparrows has as a "hidden gem" kinda place. I had a coffee, which was smooth and well-made, though only oat and regular milk were available, and I didn’t spot any dairy-free dessert options. Lupo Caffè Italiano is a hidden gem, tucked away but well worth the effort to find. I visited for lunch and enjoyed delicious coffee, cakes, and food. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. The cosy atmosphere and excellent food make this a spot I’ll definitely return to. A true delight in a somewhat secluded location!

Great little place for Italian pasta . Had the lobster ravioli the sauce is so unctuous and not like the overly creamy ones in town . Great service, highly recommend this place instead of the usual town places

Pretty disappointing. Arancini was bland and a quite pathetic portion of gnocchi for 20quid! Carbonara was nice and so was pizza but again… pricey!

Quirky small cafe with restaurant prices, food was tasty but small portions for the price, staff were nice but had to ask for side plates for sharing pizza she brought one but needed two,we expected parmesan to be offered for our pasta dishes as is usually done in Italian restaurants, nice selection of cakes but expensive .

Having read reviews about this cafe on social media we were keen to visit for ourselves and it did not disappoint. Parking was easily available and the outdoor area is pretty and inviting. The interior is delightful and instantly transforms you. The counter is set our with the most beautiful presentation of pastries. We had pastries and coffee. Both delicious. We stayed for an hour and easily could have stayed longer. It is such a warm, inviting space.

Very busy when we went at 5.30 pm. They had difficulty coping I think. My cacio pepe was a very small, dry portion of vermicelli with clumps of pepper and cheese fused together. My wife had to wait over 20 minutes after the rest of us for her main course - a pata and pork dish she liked. One of my son's had a pizza which was very nice. The other had a dry (no pasta water?) carbonara. Starters of calamari and arancini were ok.We had some cakes afterwards and they were lovely. So a real mixed bag food wise.

I was occasionally in Manchester with friends and happened to come across Lupo! Omg ! As an Italian I wish we had Lupo in London, food is so genuinely Italian, I felt like I was back in Italy. We tried everything ! 😅😅 Best breakfast ever !!!

Don’t come here with babies or young children, no attempt to accommodate them in any way - was even forced to change my baby outside on the floor of the industrial estate

Food was good but service was terrible. Waited 50 minutes for a burger then food was dumped on our table and the guy just walked away!
